Sage Peachtree is ideal for the small business that is looking for a comprehensive, customizable core accounting solution that includes the tools a business needs for success: billing and invoicing, inventory management, in-depth security, solid analytics and reporting and the reliable support needed to make it all work. It offers industry solutions for a variety of segments, including Construction, Distribution, Manufacturing, NonProfits and Accountants.

Avoid time-consuming accounting errors with up to fifteen built in data checks. Although not intended to uncover all questionable transactions, they look for common accounting mistakes and suspicious transactions. With in-depth audit and security functions, you can track who is entering or editing data or accessing particular functions. Sage Peachtree allows users to easily manage cash flow as well, providing forecasting and analytics that can be exported into Microsoft Excel.

Another strength of Sage Peachtree is inventory management, which, like the accounting function, easily helps control costs and reduce errors. Track inventory based on a variety of qualifiers, like color, size, style and more. Monitor inventory and automatically create a purchase order when levels run low.

Sage Peachtree integration with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word may be one of its best features. You can export Excel spreadsheets with formats and formulas intact, enter a record into Sage Peachtree and Outlook simultaneously, and use Microsoft Word to create vendor correspondence, employee notices and customer communications. Plus, data can be exported to PDF or sent via email. In addition, Sage Peachtree provides integration with Sage ACT! at no additional cost.

We really like the new business intelligence module in Sage Peachtree Pro Accounting 2012. This new feature intregrates reporting directly within Microsoft Excel, and is not available in Sage Peachtree Pro Accounting 2011 or earlier.

The package either has as standard modules or add-on modules all of the functions you would need to run a small business

Cons

Peachtree Accounting has come a long to be considered as a serious platform for small to medium enterprise businesses. We have successfully sold and implemented the product in about 6 different market segments, namely law firms, retail and small scale manufacturing. The product is fully customizable when it comes to billing, invoicing and inventory management. Integration with core business applications like Microsoft Office makes it easier to export to Microsoft Excel for reporting analytics and dashboards. It is user-friendly and comes with the same familiar feel and look of most Ms Windows based products.

Pros

Integration with core Microsoft applications like Excel makes a good product for analytics export into a spreadsheet.

Cons

Being a consulting company and middlemen for our clients the experience with support was horrible. Fees on support quite high considering the number of sites

A great accounting software for all types of businesses. Easy to use and easy to learn, as a first time user I was able to use most of its functionality. Report function made it a whole lot easier to generate quarterly and end of month financial statements.

Pros

Easy to Use, adaptable to several types of business platforms, generating reports is relatively easy, affordable.

Cons

Even though it is flexible I wish some features such as the PO function can be tweaked to be able to use it to its full potential, other than that a great piece of software.

Sage has been very user-friendly. The help button and the manual are always there for questions. The Sage Community has been an asset to finding answers to any other problems that might arise.

The software if fine until it doesn't function and when that happens to forget about getting a hold of the support that you pay big bucks for because the are non-existent. I have been trying for 3 days to get a call back from Support on a large issue with the software. The recording states they are too busy to take my call at this time and for me to try again at some other time. I am ready to research another software company. 18 yrs and they have only gotten worse instead of better.

Pros

A functional software for small uncomplicated businesses.

Cons

Forget support they will not help you, but believe me, they will hunt you down to get their thousands in support fees. I am beyond angry at this point and have already started researching other software companies. SO FORGET SUPPORT.

Advice to Others

Buy the software and hire a private support company because Sage cannot help you when you need it.

Sage 50 is a functional, feature rich, accounting suite. In terms of bookkeeping, it is easy to use solution for everyday transactions and gives you extremely detailed reporting functionality. Payroll and year ends are a breeze, and reconciliation is fairly fool proof.

This software is very basic and doesn't offer the best in regards to most financial transactions. It isn't ideal for monies paid like refunds and the like. Needs major work

Sage 50 has a lot of great qualities that help with accounting, but the built in capability to track inventory could be further refined. The backbone of peachtree has helped us a lot with our financials with it's ability to link payments to purchases. However, the inventory management capabilities are not intuitive.

Very easy to implement. Requires you to think about set up before starting. Flexible reporting that can also easily be downloaded to EXCEL for further formatting. Customer Support is not very helpful or accessible. But the system itself is fairly intuitive.

Pros

Customer Support is hard to reach and not often helpful.
Check stub from A/P and not efficient in their use of the check and stub.

Hard to navigate. Can not run consecutive years running reports. The reports have many repetitive lines that make it harder to decipher the report fast. Support is too expensive, useless and mandatory

It works for a small company but with the software out there today you will need to upgrade to a stronger system as you grow. You can do EFT vendor payments but not from Canada to the US. The reporting is great for small companies. Overall I really like it for small companies.

We use the reporting features of the software quite frequently and find them very valuable. When wanting to upgrade our product and support plan to add functionality, the service and tech support were very helpful.

Likes Least

I wish the cloud functionalities of Sage Drive were more versatile, and you could have at least 2 users working on it at the same time, rather than having one user as read-only. The reports could be more customizable, we could really use a report that shows our inventory by location. Also, I wish there was more to the customer function, allowing for Business Day-to-Day, Financials and Customer Relationship Management all in the Sage Program.

Recommendations

If you just have a small business, with one person mainly doing the books, this software is an easy-to-use and inexpensive option. If you want more than one employee to input information you will likely have to look into a more expensive program.
