Document Locator is enterprise document management software that is uniquely integrated into Microsoft Windows. The platform is integrated with Microsoft Office and other business applications, and works directly inside of Windows Explorer to appear like a shared folder with document management features embedded within.

Document workflow, paperless scanning, email management, and version control are built in. The system also converts scanned paper to searchable digital files and electronic forms are used to transform processing with digital capture, routing, and approval. Security based on the Microsoft NT security model protects information and detailed audit logging captures a record of every action that occurs.

Users have access to training classes, online training media, a customer portal, and custom-tailored professional services. Document Locator can be deployed on premise using Microsoft SQL and Windows Server, or it can be run as a cloud solution. The system is available by subscription or can be purchased in perpetual licenses.

The best feature about Document locator is Drag and Drop from other applications. Drag and Drop makes it really easy for people who want to work quickly.
Mobile access helps me managing docs from anywhere even when I am travelling.

I would like the docs to be integrated with third party CRM like Pipedrive. It will help managing all docs from a single locations and I would not need to keep multiple copies.

I used document locator with 1 of my previous job and started using it since then for personal use. The best feature we like about Document locator is the email management using my favorite software "outlook". It helps with a number of other features including PDF conversion, Document preview etc.

Easy to use tool with good reporting options. Reports can be filtered to get custom data. It also has the option to see usage metrics.
Notifications can be scheduled for missed tasks. It helps users to review the assigned documents.

Functionality can be defined specific to the users. If there would be a super admin role which can assign various modules based on user type, it will help to only see required screens.

Recommendations

It's an easy to use tool to help with a number of tasks in offices. Documents can be converted to PDF easily and can be managed and organised well.

Document locator, Version control functionality helps recovering the older versions of documents. It allows scanning of physical papers into the digital documents. These scanned documents allow search capability which is a nice feature.
Document locator also provides the mobile view and its easy to manage files using mobile and tablets.

Usually Document locator is integrated with Microsoft products including MS office. being a Mac user, i would like some integration with Mac software's as well.

Recommendations

It's a good application to manage the documents and their versions. Forms and papers can be easily scanned using this application and can have search capabilities.

I used Document locator with a few clients to manage their project based files (Including docs, PDF and images etc.). This software works well on my windows 7 machine. Being a Microsoft windows user, i can manage the files with MS office as well. The integration is great with Microsoft office to manage the documents. It helps with printing stuff really well.

The tool works great but we would like to get sharing feature. If I can get the documents shared with my friends using this tool, it will help us. The interface can be improved as well.

Since I am a windows user primarily, this tool suits be best. It works well on windows environment and have great connectivity with microsoft office as well.
It helps me manage my digital media files easily and I can search and manage it right within windows explorer.
It helps me manage my email and I can attach my files to my emails using this tool as well.

I do not know of a feature which does not work good for me. The only thing could be having a separate mobile app. But as i mentioned, I am a windows user, so that is still optional option for me.

Good tool to install on your windows installation. If you love ms-office and want to stay with that, you can go with this tool and work together to manage your files within office and Document locator DB.
