Web Merge is a key tool to running my business and in achieving what we were drilled to do at University (marketing degree) which is mass customization. Awesome!!

Pros

The customer support is some of the best support I've experienced amongst the online services and applications I use to run my business. The dashboard is very easy to manage and know what is going on. For the bits that are a bit too technical customer support has really helped me out. With a combination of an online database, I am using Web Merge to personalise customer documentation and marketing collateral.

Cons

I am a business of 1 person so am on the lowest level. The cost of more credits is moving into middle sized business but I'm just about ok on the lowest level. Only run out of credits a couple of times.

Once I got through the learning curve, I automated generation of our law firm engagement letters. It turns a painful hunt and copy paste job into a quick web form and a smile when a perfect, ready-to-go letter arrives in my email.

Pros

By itself, it's very powerful, and it integrates with tons of useful services to extend capabilities even more.

Email-based customer support is outstanding.

Cons

I have a technical background and it took me a little while to figure things out through trial and error.

It would help if they packaged things up into a comprehensive user guide with video tutorials.

When I first found WebMerge, I had an idea for something we were trying to accomplish, but I wasn't sure exactly how to get it done. With so many integrations out there and so many ways to get it done, I was struggling deciding which route would be the best for our business. Which options would be the fastest, the most affordable, and the most reliable. I signed up for the free WebMerge (like I did with about 15 other services that claimed to offer seamless and effortless merging solutions) and ran a few tests. It wasn't until I received an email from their tech support the next day asking if they could help....turns out it was the CEO who was asking.

So I decided to put my troubles into his hands and said, "Sure thing buddy, you want to know how you can help? Solve this for me!" And to my surprise, he did. He didn't just point me to a help page. He took the time to understand EXACTLY what we were trying to accomplish and walked us through a few setups. After getting into the admin area and seeing what they offer firsthand, my solution appeared...it just clicked!

The numbers for us are real! We now have a seamless template integration solution that has allowed us to reduce costs, increase our margins by 28%, and reduce delivery times to clients by 75%. We were customers of Drawloop since we are also users of Salesforce.com. In our quest to find a more efficient tool to generate and dynamically fill documents we came across WebMerge, and we are very grateful. The ease of use and the API are excellent; but more importantly the service we receive from the WebMerge team is top notch. They are responsive, helpful, and quick to help with anything we have suggested. Several features we needed for integrations with other third party systems were added within 24-48 hours. Its really impressive, and has made a huge difference for my teams productivity in this portion of our applications.

Cons

Not really any cons, per se, but the company still feels young, and in some cases that means there might not be as much staying power as the more established players in this space. I hope thats not the case, as we love this product.

We have Webmerge running in concert with Formstack for a client with an elaborate online webform for its customers. The Formstack webform collects the information from the customer, and then it communicates through API's with Webmerge to produce a beautiful, branded password protected PDF.

This process would normally have consumed a lot of time in administrative work for the client. When a cost benefit analysis is performed, Webmerge is certainly providing tremendous value to the client and improving the customer experience overall at the same time.

Pros

Branded output of data submitted

Cons

Price plans make it difficult when volume fluctuates. Recommendation to Webmerge would be to offer additional price plans, or incremental costs in the event that some months additional "merges" are required.

Pros

Connecting Webmerge with Zapier lets me take information from multiple sources and databases and combine them into one document with a fully customizable template, saving us both time and money.

I can even save the doc as a google doc into the appropriate file in google drive.

Cons

This is one powerful tool that does what it does perfectly. I cannot think of any cons for the software.

Ease of Integration with Form Stack

A few months ago the company that I work for decided that we would want to receive our quote submissions received from Form Stack to come through as PDF instead of Plain text. During the research to find an applicable software I came across Webmerge. Upon using the demo for a few days I noticed that this was what we were looking for. It was pretty easy to integrate the Form Stack forms to PDF versions and now this has been set up for around 6 different quote forms hence each time a quote submission is received where the client used one of the 6 different quote forms, we would receive in PDF.

Strong Points of this software are:

1. Easy integration with Form Stack and others.
2. This software is very easy to learn
3. No programming knowledge required.
4. The integration process can be as quick as 10 minutes.
5. Great Value for money

Webmerge makes it easy for me to generate quotes for my customers. It works well and does what it is supposed to. It allows me the flexibility to post information into a template using an API and have the system generate a PDF. Webmerge makes it easy to work with and Excel and Word documents.

Pros

Ability to easily test, multiple routes / destinations to send merged documents, including Google Drive.

Cons

Limits on the number of merges are a bit low.

Advice to Others

When testing this software make sure you try out a sample merge templates. This would save quite a bit of time.

Love Webmerge, but need better training.

I really like the ease of Webmerge. It was easy to create and use templates that existed for the company. I would like to see more of the features that I do not even know exist on WM. I know WM can do more than I am using it for, but I do not know where to look for more features.

Pros

Easy to do the basic templates without training.
Anyone can create documents, not limited by licences.

Cons

The help and training on the website are not very useful for the layman. I am not a computer coder and the training is much more technical than my level of expertise.

We are an educational organization who uses WebMerge to quickly generate and email certificates of completion in a PDF form. Once a person completes a course, they are directed to a form where they enter their name and email address. The information is routed to WebMerge, where a PDF with their name, email and timestamp is created and sent to the person. Prior to WebMerge, I was creating certificates manually on a daily basis. This software has helped our business significantly.

Pros

Cons

Copies of PDFs are not saved into an archive. Occasionally, the auto emailed PDF is blocked due to a persons work server (State Employee). Since there is no archived copy of PDFs, I have to manually create this PDF and email it to the person.

Webmerge has been a wonderful solution to our document integration needs. We hire tons of employees (adjunct professors) on a quarterly basis and we utilize WebMerge to help us integrate the information they enter online to flow to our HR Department very efficiently. I highly recommend WebMerge and it's very affordable as well.

Our invoicing system was manual, using 1 google spreadsheet per invoice and filling it manually.

Then I realise using Webmerge and simple spreadsheet formulas I could pre-fill invoice information and compute all of them in a single click.
Stunning result.
The price per pdf is a bit high with webmerge but the price of my time (especially when doing boring stuff) is way higher ! Thank you !

We have been so impressed with WebMerge. Everytime we wonder if the software can do something... we email support and find out 99% of the time that it can! We use this to merge all proposals, contracts, etc. The system offers so much flexibility between data routing, field mapping (e.g. formatting data) and delivery of merged products that we are able to do so much more work with less people and time and effort... a big win for us.

Pros

This is an incredibly powerful product that has a lot of flexibility and capability under the hood, yet they present it in such a simplistic way that the non-technical folks can still get a ton of use out of it

Cons

I guess you could say its like a drug (although I don't use drugs) in the sense that you can get hooked on it to do so many things and before you know it - spending quite a bit more $$ than you had budgeted for.

Advice to Others

I highly recommend it. I think you can get up and running in no time. However, if you want to do intricate things with it (e.g. custom format data, loop through spreadsheets to create documents), then I would make sure you have access to someone with some technical skills. Someone comfortable manipulating SMARTY templates.
