Co-construct is a robust web-based solution developed for custom builders and remodelers. With Co-construct, custom contractors have access to a solution that addresses the unique challenges faced by companies in this niche.

Co-construct is a collaborative solution that helps businesses coordinate their selections, schedules and photos while also improving client relationships with more dynamic, interactive communication. It's best suited to companies with less than $10 million in revenue seeking minimal IT involvement; the web-based deployment eliminates the need for a large hardware investment. It integrates with QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Xero accounting systems.

Co-construct is accessed from a login form on the contractor's website. From here, team members, subs and clients can access their own secure portals to address tasks unique to their role - tracking change orders and project budget, update online schedules, share files and photos, enter jobsite logs, and access cross-project reporting. This data can be downloaded at any time and Co-construct offers mobile apps to update your schedule, retrieve files, review selections and more.  

This online portal is branded with the company name, colors and logo for a more professional look and any outgoing messages and handouts also include the company brand. Builders also get their own, branded mobile app for use with clients.

Co-construct brings together all client and sub communications into a single location; everyone can still use email, but Co-construct's patented communication feature captures and organizes these communications online, so finding something takes seconds. With email and text message alerts, clients, team members and subcontractors alike stay informed of project updates in real time.

Benefits of Co-construct

Ease-of-use

It's like a dashboard with all the buttons easily accessible and set up logically.

Functionality

As a kitchen and bath designer, I am able to post drawings and edits for approval. I can also post selections and details about them for approvals and cost upgrades, which the client can immediately approve or decline. The selection sheet allows clients to see all postings in a condensed format, which I find invaluable as an overall view of how things relate to each other.

Product Quality

Everything seems to work when I need it to. No complaints yet.

Customer Support

There are emails every week with tips and insights. I don't personally handle communication about issues, so I can't really speak on that, but there has been very little, if any, downtime.

Likes Best

The overall ease of use and detailed, instant communication makes my work easier to complete with less steps. Repeated phone calls and emails are virtually eliminated. Defined selections of materials and services are complete and cannot be questioned at a later date. Vendor tech and instructional support is always helpful. The email link to my phone keeps me updated on all my clients when I'm out of the office.

I have not learned to use all of its capabilities yet, but it suits my needs so far.

It is fast compared to other software systems, so transactions are processed quickly online.

It meets most of our needs, and in the few areas where we were very detailed in Excel, it helps us see where we can align and group items together into one.

This is by far the best I have seen anywhere to date.

They have exceptional support and teams ready to answer questions in detail. The president of this vendor comes to the table initially as a client, so he sees the possibilities from both sides and how builders can really use communication to keep the clients up to date, while still internally tracking costs and schedules. It's worth trying.

Recommendations

Other software doesn't have the support and information/ideas that Co-Construct does. I feel like they lead by far.

Jump in; the water is great!

Ease-of-use

I like the approach that the developers have used. Can you use an iPad? If so, you can do this.

Functionality

You won't be sorry. The system has reduced my stress level. I have a very busy few years ahead of me, and I welcome the support Co-Construct is giving me.

Product Quality

Quality shows in the details. In my business, this is the rule. It's clear that Co-Construct has addressed the details.

Customer Support

I have never felt that the company wasn't there to help. I have had questions, and they go above and beyond to help. I feel like are a partner in my success.

Likes Best

It is a heightened level of communication with the client. I like that they can track the job and see progress with phoning a question about "what's next." It saves me phone calls.

I am still incorporating the budgeting. I consider myself a new user in this area, and I can't comment. There might be a complaint here, but I really doubt it, as I like everything I've used so far.

Recommendations

Just jump in. I delayed setting it up. It won't work for you if you don't put in the time setting it up.

Life changing

Ease-of-use

The way the home page is laid out makes navigation simple. The text service is a fantastic and simple tool to keep on top of our trades.

Functionality

We do a lot of small to medium commercial construction projects and find that the master selection sheet is too orientated to residential. However, this is not the end of the world. We work around this and customize it to suit our needs. It just takes a bit of time.

Product Quality

I am always happy to show our clients the little introductory video. It looks as if we had it specifically made for us.

Customer Support

The response time here in Australia has been fantastic, particularly in the early days finding our way around the software. The online training clips and group training sessions have been great.

Likes Best

I love its simplicity and the ability to keep everyone in the loop. My clients love the ability to view the progress of their job from work and communicate on a forum that is dedicated to their job. Our Trades rave that they can view the schedules in their own time and have a recorded link directly with me. It's one of those systems, where you say to yourself, "If only I had this when we were starting out."

I don't like that we are stuck with only the options of two jobs running at any one time and then the next package being five jobs. I never run more than three to four jobs at one time.

I don't really know of any other software that offers a service as good as this.

After watching the instructional videos, we found Co-construct to be extremely easy to use.

Functionality

We have found that everything we need is available within this powerful tool.

No technological issues at all. We were concerned as to the constant availability of the info within Co-construct but have had no issues at all.

Customer Support

From instructional videos to FAQs, we have been able to easily find the info needed within the software.

It is difficult for us to get all our vendors on board with the software. I wish there was a simpler way to get the info from Co-construct to our smaller, less technologically friendly vendors.

My advice to new users would be to use the software for everything possible. Using Co-construct as the singular platform in all phases of operations eliminates the time consuming practice of reviewing emails, text, and telephone correspondence regarding a build.

The knowledge base can be difficult to search. I mentioned this above.

I don't need much. I have simple needs when it comes to Co-Construct. I don't use it multiple times a day like the job supers do.

We need better tag word options in the knowledge base.

Customer Support

The knowledge base needs work. However, they're great when you email them directly.

I like that I can just go to the schedule to see when they will pick up the next draw check.

Awesome product, Awesome service. Not a match

Ease-of-use

It is a lot of initial work, but afterwards the ease with which one can navigate through the software is incredible.

Functionality

We required a budgeting/estimating software and currently Co-Construct doesn't have too much too offer in that category.

Product Quality

The consistent updates and focus on the client is really impressive.

Customer Support

When our company explained out situation and the lack of a match given the company's needs, Co-Construct was incredible in accommodating us.

The user interface and ease of use was simply incredible. The customer service was also great. We ended up not continuing using Co-Construct for an extended period simply because we found a software that was a better match for our current needs. Overall though, I would give them a 4/5 for just such an incredible product.

Co-construct does have many financial management features, including allowance tracking, budgeting, cost forecasting, and QuickBooks and Xero integration. We also have many builders who use the patent-pending communication features to do bidding. However, it does not have full estimating or budgeting modules... yet (as of Sept 2014). Those are in development, so stay tuned in the coming months!

It takes a little getting used to, but once you use it a little, you can definitely see the perks.

It has assisted us a bunch in the scheduling of the jobs and better identifying our budget and actual numbers.

The software is very good and its developer has definitely put in the sweat equity to get it to perform.

I've reached someone on the line every time. There are some agents that really know the product and a few others that have to work a little to get the answer, but they have always been helpful.

The program makes communication with everyone on a project much easier. The scheduling feature is great and we've even been able to incorporate pre-closing and post-closing items for our staff to take care of.

Using the picture functionality is cumbersome. I would like to be able to upload multiple pics in one folder.

Take advantage of the free trial so you know if this is a good fit for you. Identify what you're currently frustrated with and they'll definitely find a way to relieve the pressure and stress.

Co-construct - Awesome custom builder software!

Ease-of-use

It takes time, but once you get used to it, it is easy to use, and there are tricks to get around easily.

Functionality

It covers a lot; communication is a big part of what we do. And there are a few ways to incorporate the ideas of Co-construct into our processes and tracking of information. It's worth it!

Product Quality

Quality is great because it is focused on the Renovation and New Build worlds, specifically in Custom Builds. They are focused on the right things.

Customer Support

Co-construct has a great support team that answers every question on time and always with links to further information. They also send weekly emails about updates to the software and ideas on how to best use their system.

They are focused on the details needed for a custom new home build or renovation. It is similar to what we already do, but it incorporates it all onto online software that is a great feature for new projects.

There isn't a software system anywhere that will match how we operate, so there are some areas we need to adjust to a different way to handle. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's a change.

Recommendations

I think taking the time to turn your company around to a new level of software has to be expected. It doesn't roll over immediately and quickly. It takes time to adjust, taking changes one at a time and understanding the different ways things will be handled.

This has been one of the best purchases of our company.

Ease-of-use

After we ran three jobs through this system, we pretty much had all of the basics down pat, and I was able to manage the jobs from the office. I feel it has a pretty easy learning curve.

Functionality

This works great for me except for the missing estimating portion.

Product Quality

I have never run into an issue with the system that was not operator error.

Customer Support

Any time I have had an issue or didn't understand something they were there on the phone, sending over an article explaining the issue I was having, as well as following up to make sure it had been resolved.

This keeps me in the office and still able to keep tabs on jobs as needed. Customers that work out of town love that they are able to keep tabs and see photos as progress ensues. Co-construct has always been very responsive whenever I have something I don't quite understand. They also have quite a bit of articles explaining how to do various items, as well as webinars.

I would prefer that it had an estimating portion, but it does not.

Recommendations

If you are just starting with a system like this and have nothing to compare it to, I would recommend trying it out, as well as others, for a job or two each to compare them. I did get mixed up a bit between this one and another I was considering on which one had what features.

Great Product! User and Client-Friendly. Win-Win!

Ease-of-use

It's very intuitive. Everything can be reached from the Home Screen. Spend a few hours playing and/or watching the tutorials, and you will be set to go.

Functionality

It does all we want it to do and all we need it to do. Some in-depth report generating would be a nice addition, but it's not really necessary for what we were looking for.

Product Quality

No hiccups so far. The web and mobile apps have both been very stable for us. Everything looks crisp and clean and operates the same way.

Customer Support

Very quick response times from the tech support side. We have not had to reach out often, but when we have, the responses have been prompt.

Likes Best

The product has really helped simplify our selection processes. Customers can see the specs, other options, and the costs associated with changes. Once a selection is made, everyone is aware of the choice and the related cost, if any. There are no more tough conversations about change orders.

At this point, there has not been much not to like. We are still learning all of the tricks with the software, but are pretty sure it will do all that we ask of it. Improvements are sure to come, but it's working fine for us as is.

Recommendations

This is a very client-friendly software. The accounting end is enough for us, but if generating tons of reports is your goal, this may not be your solution. If creating an environment to collaborate with customers is your goal, this is the software to use.

Amazing product - brings everything together in one place!

Ease-of-use

The screens and menus are easy to read. Their tutorials make learning the program easy as well; plus, you are assigned someone from their staff to be able to call if you can't figure something out.

Functionality

Our field employees were a big part of our decision to go with Co-construct. They can access it from their phone to communicate with our office staff or the client. They can send photos of something they have completed and want to show off, or if there is an issue with something onsite, our production manager doesn't have to drive to the project.

Product Quality

It's easy to use for all involved: field staff, office staff, and clients.

Customer Support

They called me to make sure I understood the program or had any questions on a regular basis as I was getting things up and running. Who does that? We love it!

It has everything in one place. I have never worked with a vendor who is more responsive to any needs we have had. I like that I can communicate with client through the program and don't have to worry about emails in one place and other things in another place; it's all right there.

We haven't found anything we don't like yet. Co-construct support is always ready and available to walk me through anything I don't understand. It's quick and easy.

Ease-of-use

The only thing keeping it from being totally perfect is the selection sheet. Some items aren't broken down far enough to make the search as quick as it could be, but other than that, it is great!

Functionality

It meets my needs through the email alerts and by documenting the conversations between the different parties, and of course, the scheduling is perfect.

Product Quality

They're a perfect 10 because they're not done and have already made improvements to the program, which tells me that it will continue to meet my needs.

Customer Support

I haven't had to use the support, but my rating is based on the improvements in the program. They know the needs of their customers.

My favorite feature how the task fades in the schedule once it is complete, making it quick and easy to see what has been done and what is left to do. Also, the sections collapse once they are completed.

It times out quickly, which cause you to have to sign in again. Also, it would be nice if the job number would follow as you scroll down the page so you don't forget which job you're looking at.

Recommendations

I have and do highly recommend Co-Construct to everybody that I talk construction to and many others. My recommendation is to make sure the software is going to do what you want it to, and, of course, that is to make your job easier and more efficient.
