Co-construct is a robust web-based solution developed for custom builders and remodelers. With Co-construct, custom contractors have access to a solution that addresses the unique challenges faced by companies in this niche.

Co-construct is a collaborative solution that helps businesses coordinate their selections, schedules and photos while also improving client relationships with more dynamic, interactive communication. It's best suited to companies with less than $10 million in revenue seeking minimal IT involvement; the web-based deployment eliminates the need for a large hardware investment. It integrates with QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Xero accounting systems.

Co-construct is accessed from a login form on the contractor's website. From here, team members, subs and clients can access their own secure portals to address tasks unique to their role - tracking change orders and project budget, update online schedules, share files and photos, enter jobsite logs, and access cross-project reporting. This data can be downloaded at any time and Co-construct offers mobile apps to update your schedule, retrieve files, review selections and more.  

This online portal is branded with the company name, colors and logo for a more professional look and any outgoing messages and handouts also include the company brand. Builders also get their own, branded mobile app for use with clients.

Co-construct brings together all client and sub communications into a single location; everyone can still use email, but Co-construct's patented communication feature captures and organizes these communications online, so finding something takes seconds. With email and text message alerts, clients, team members and subcontractors alike stay informed of project updates in real time. 

Co-construct is backed by an expert support team with free help for all customers and they actually host complimentary, twice-weekly webinars where users of the software can meet and share ideas, trade tips and get help.

My biggest issue with other products is that they do not navigate well and customers have problems with the sites. Once they find it difficult, they give up and don't use it. Co-construct is easy to navigate and 100% of our customers use it willingly.

Every once in awhile, it doesn't work correctly while navigating through screens, but a quick refresh helps and away we go.

Recommendations

Don't be afraid of this program. Try it and you will be hooked.

The customer service has been fantastic. They are very responsive with all of my questions that I had as I started using the software.

The product closely resembled an already existing business process for us that was being carried out over 4 different programs. Their product allowed us to easily streamline our process and was quick to implement. Their product really allows us to elevate the services we offer to our clients and help give us a competitive edge when bidding on contracts.

The only down side I can think of is the mobile app. It works great and has many of the same features as the desktop version, just no access to the contact list.

Recommendations

This is the second construction management software solution we've tried and I think the best advice when looking for this type of software is to see how the software will make what you currently do better. It's hard to streamline a system that doesn't already exist, but that being said Co-Construct has helped us improve our existing system and also shown us some areas we can improve on.

Recommendations

The great thing about this software is that it consolidates all the information into one place, but it separates it into very nice compartments that make it easy to find the construction details. At first, I ignored the Selection sheet. After a few months of using the software, I started using the selection sheet, and now it's my favorite part of the software. No more tracking down added cost items; they are all easily approved by the client and tracked by my bookkeeper. I've only used the software 4 months, but it has quickly become a key element of our operating system.

The ease of keeping everything available at my fingertips. I have the schedule, all selections, all communications, all forms and pricing right there. I don't have to keep bouncing around from paperwork to email to websites trying to keep everything organized.

It takes awhile to set up the initial selection sheets. But it is well worth it in the end, because you can save your templates and re-use them.

Neil -- Thanks for the positive feedback. Regarding the mobile apps... you're correct that the interface is different on those from the main website, since we've optimized it for smaller screens and streamlined the functions to let you more quickly do the kinds of things you'd typically do from the field (like adding to-dos, replying to a comment, checking the budget on a selection item, changing a schedule task date, etc...). However, if you're doing something where you'd prefer the full site, we do test that the full site works on mobile browsers. In fact, many of our clients simply use the full site on the iPad in landscape mode since it works so nicely like that. I do not have an answer for this yet. We are still learning the product. We have had a few glitches with importing and exporting, but I believe this is more due to user error as well as Quicken than Co-construct.

Recommendations

I recommend that a person looking at this software make sure it is what they are looking for. It is labor intensive to get started but saves time overall, so that needs to be looked at.

This product is so very easy to use! I did not read (still haven't read) any guilds or tutorials for Co-Construct and have had no problems using their program! It's easy! And everything for your projects is in one place!

I wish I did not get as many emails. It would be easier if the mobile app showed you new posts, rather than sending one hundred emails every time something is revised.
