CoConstruct Software

CoConstruct is a web and mobile-based project, financial, and client management system for custom home builders and remodelers. It is the only single-entry estimating system that allows each user to enter a piece of information once, and have that data flow directly from the estimate, specifications, selections, bids, change orders, budgets, and to and from QuickBooks – with no double entry.

In addition to the fully integrated financial system, CoConstruct streamlines scheduling, communication, client and subcontractor portals, files, photos, to-dos, time clock, job log, warranty, and more.

CoConstruct provides builders unlimited, no-charge projects for use with prospects, estimating, and bidding. Each builder only pays for the number of projects currently under construction.

The CoConstruct subscription includes a dedicated implementation coach, custom branding to match the a builders website, phone and online support, unlimited ongoing training, and options to attend an in-person, 2-day training sessions with other CoConstruct users.

Very Easy to use and presentable to clients. I am writing this sentence to meet the minimum character requirement.

Great way to schedule and create estimates in matter of minutes. It's easy to use and they have a lot of useful videos if you forget something.

Cons

Time tracking feature needs to be better. Currently you can't see the amount of hours in a project and the budgeted hours.

Pros

This is absolutely amazing! My customers and subs love this software!! Project management has never been easier and more manageable! Everything is automated! This has really put me over my competition!!

Cons

The change order portion does not allow for a deductive change order. We all hate them but they are a fact of life. I have to manually make a deductive change order on excel or ms word. Other than that everything else is great!

Pros

QuickBooks integration with the desktop and online version, ease of use, the coaching sessions to help you get started, and great pricing.

Cons

There were very few features of the program that was not yet there yet, that would make the system better for us personally and probably for other companies. For example, their could of have been an option for a adding a billing address as well as a second address instead of a second address line.

Just started using the system and already see the value in communication throughout the entire organization. If one of the subs did something outside of spec you can take a picture circle the error and send it to the sub. On the spot not calling them and trading phone calls etc

Pros

Ease of use, support to get started. loaded full of features, everything in one system. Communications with trade customer and team members is a breeze. Getting bids from the trade are a breeze.

Cons

Haven't found any yet. It has so many strong features I have been so impressed with the improvement to our business that I have not focused on the cons

The customer service by far is the BEST I've ever encountered anywhere. They ALWAYS get you an answer in such a timely manner and are so polite, friendly and willing to go the extra mile. The office is so welcoming and the vibe is positive and fun!

Pros

I love that it links to Quick Books and I can upload everything over. I love how it tracks EVERYTHING for you and gives your clients a way to be such a part of the process from beginning to end.

Cons

For us there are NO cons so far! I can't really think of anything to put down for this one :) So again, NO cons!

Pros

This software will help us run multiple jobs more efficiently. It is a great marketing tool for prospective clients. It makes us look and feel so much more professional. We are able to pay more attention to the customer. Large tasks to the small details that used to bog down our thoughts and energies no longer are a burden. Co-Construct's communication and accountability structures helps get more done.

Cons

My largest challenge is transferring our own estimating templates. But I expect that to be done with in this week. Every other transfer of information has been smooth.

I'm focusing my company on changing the way construction is done. In this day in time, there's better ways of doing things. There needs to be a level of understanding in the fact that these projects are more the customers homes than my job sites. There's also no reason why technology can't streamline the process. Co-construct helps me to accomplish both.

Pros

There's a lot of good things but overall, the focus on creating better communication for everyone and a pleasant customer experience is what makes this work. That often has not been the focus in construction even thought they are two of the most important aspects.

Cons

The user interface is great. I think any improvement that can be made there is always good. If I could, I would make everything even more simple and fail proof for users. Example: the last upgrade on emails was a good improvement.

For businesses that are not using this product/program, I find it hard to understand how they can stay on top of their construction processes and costs. This program keeps you in check and on schedule.

Pros

Easily find what you are looking for, whether its a selection, a date in the schedule or a variation
Great for interaction with the client, you can instantly send them a message/email and you are notified as soon as they reply
Keeps all the information in one place
You cant make a mistake that cannot be rectified
The 'To Do' feature is a great tool for reminders or chasing up things that need to be done

Cons

The only bugbear I have is that you have to go into both 'change choice' and 'update status' to lock your selection., where as if the 'update status' was in the same section, you wouldn't have to go into 2 tabs and could save a little time.

Wishing this company great success, but hoping our competitors choose something else! Our market is very rural, and getting out to jobs in 5 counties isn't realistic anymore. We are uploading files and daily job logs for "eyes in the field" and the site supervisors are taking more ownership of schedules they can see and adjust.

Pros

Co-Construct is easy to use, and the support staff rocks! We were very hesitant to take this on, finding it to be much less trouble than we imagined.

Cons

We would ideally like to see a Gantt chart with all the project schedules listed simultaneously. Oh, and if it were just you know, free.

Overall, we are glad we made the switch. The comparsion between BuilderTrend and Construct is close.... We have not use the estimating tools yet as we still use excel. Plan to make the change soon... This could be the tool that sets CoConstruct apart from BuilderTrend....

Pros

The Gantt chart is first rate in scheduling. If you are a MicroSoft project user, this is a perfect fit. Customers seem to like it so far as does the sub Contractor base. We ended up making a switch from BuilderTrend to CoConstruct mostly due to the scheduling features.... BuilderTrend lacked Subtask in the Gantt chart viewing each task as a separate line item. I want to total duration of the foundation installation with each subtask involved. Not just have Foundation as a single task....... outside of those few items, everthing is worked good. I would definitely recommend trying to see if it fits your needs........

Cons

Expensive compared to BuilderTrend but worth the extra for the addtional Gantt functions. No way of tracking sub contractor insurance certificate expirations under the vendor section. CoConstruct said set up as individual "ToDo's". No thank you...... Lastly document management seems a little cumbersome. Requires searching through allot of files to find a files. You can filter by apppling a tag but if the sub doesnt know how you tagged it, the search can be frustrating. That is the feedback we have gotten from the subs.

Customer service has to 100% in any business and with Coconstruct I feel that the customers are put first! If the customer feels involved with the construction process they are more likely to have a great experience and once again Coconstruct allows that to happen. Perfect!

Pros

It's important for everyone involved with a project to be informed. With that said all the tools in Coconstruct make it very easy for everyone to be informed of any issues and updates.

Cons

The fact that more people aren't using this program. But really I have not found any reason why I should have a con with Coconstruct.

My company has recently chosen to implement a construction management software program in order to take our company to the next level. After researching the market, we found Co Construct to be the program most well suited to our needs. While is may not be as flashy as some of the other products, the functionality and ease of use surpassed all other products. We are a residential design/build firm that manages renovation projects from initial concept through final construction. Prior to Co-construct, we managed all selections via Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and did all of our scheduling through Microsoft Project. This was a nightmare because every job had to be created independently, and the information was extremely difficult to share with our clients.

We have now been using Co-construct for several years and it has changed the way we do business. We upload every single client into Co-construct and manage their project from start through warranty via the online software.

Every time we have had an issue, concern or question, the Co-construct team has been very quick to help solve or rectify or create a solution! I would highly recommend this product.

I'm a small residential custom home builder and remodeler, starting in Mississippi, and now in Wyoming. The market has been incredibly competitive, people are wanting work done for the bottom dollar, and I haven't been willing to sacrifice quality to get there. So many people have a bad taste in their mouth for contractors because of price over-runs or miscommunications.

I've been thinking for awhile that I need to find some kind of niche or something that I don't have to sell my product or work on price only. I have an estimating program (Bob's Basic System), but as far as selections, schedule, communicating, etc., I have not had any software and it's been a lot of calling, emailing, and other communication.

I stumbled upon Co-construct not even looking for a management software, and it caught my interest because I was starting a project for a couple that live in Chicago. I see Co-construct possibly becoming my niche. I have a vision of making home-building or remodeling a pleasant experience for the customer and not a sour one. I still have a lot of learning to do, but I've been impressed how easy it was to get the basics of it. The company's support is awesome. They truly want you to catch on to it and get the most out of it.

I am a small/boutique luxury builder in Atlanta, GA. My main focus has been on building mansions and estates. I work with a unique set of clients that are very discerning about the fine details of their home, and equally discerning about how I run my business and the construction process. I made it my goal to find a highly functional program which was also easy to use and "good looking" to take our image and professionalism to another level.

We previously used our own hybrid creation that included spreadsheets, three-part printed selection guides and handwritten change orders. With the economy in the tank and competition fierce, I needed a system to take my company to another level and become heads and shoulders above my competition. Co-construct was it.

I have been using Co-construct for about two years and have really enjoyed it. The implementation was easy and their step by step instruction, help database, and ongoing webcasts made it even easier. I went in with the realistic idea that it will take work to make it perfect but the old saying rules: garbage in, garbage out.

Currently my team of Co-Construct users consists yours truly, however I can see how easy it will be to add new employees to utilize the system effectively. Every time I needed help with a question, it has been answered promptly and with the utmost care.

The one huge benefit for me is simple: I would like to expand my company during this evident housing recovery. I would like to increase my volume and start building more moderately priced homes, which is exciting but has a lot of unknowns. I truly believe that if I had not implemented Co-construct in my business I would not even be thinking about expanding my company right now. The truth is that Co-construct has provided me and my company a spectacular platform, built on process and procedures that can be rolled out in a professional manner thus making it easy to expand.

Many thanks to Co-construct, it is the best!

I was just like every other builder out there, I am competitive on price, I provide a good product and we have good service, but that all usually goes haywire the moment we start to get too busy and then I cant keep up with the paperwork, our quality suffers and I end up with upset and confused clients.

Prior to co-construct I used a regular Microsoft Gantt chart for our schedules which, when we first gave it to a client it looks great but after one or two changes it still looks the same, even if I am keeping up with my extensions of time. The client still only looks at the end completion date and I rarely updated the completion date on the Gantt chart. What this meant is that we had clients who still believed they were moving in on the initial completion date. This just created confusion and anger with the clients.

The other thing we would do is let the clients take control of their selections, and as usual, they wouldn't pick them until the last moment and we would lose our tradesmen that we had booked in as we wouldn't have the gear for them to start.

Since we started using Co-construct we have been running ahead of schedule and have been giving all of our clients deadlines for choices. We have happy clients across the board and they all comment on how easy it is to use, I even have an 75 year old lady who is using it and loves it.
It has become a great sales pitch when selling to new customers and we have been winning more projects because of it.

I will never go back to our old system and I can only suggest if you are serious about building a strong reputable company then Co-construct would be the first thing I would implement.

I'm not sure I want to write a glowing review for Co-Construct. I don't want my competition knowing about them!

All kidding aside. Co-Construct is a hugely valuable tool for our company. We've been using it for a couple of years now, and I can't imagine how we would do without it at this point. We've had double digit growth over the past year and we anticipate that to continue for quite some time and Co-Construct continues to become more valuable.

I think one of the things I like the most about Co-Construct is their customer service. A lot of times, you buy this expensive software package and when you need help figuring something out, good luck. Not with Co-Construct. Donny and crew go above and beyond to make sure it works the way it's supposed to and if it isn't, they want to know about it.

After every home is completed and during our homeowner orientation, we ask them about the system. 100% of our customers have praised our system and said that it was one of the reasons why they would recommend us to anyone they know. Many of them have said that they have no idea how they would have been able to manage all of their selections without it.

Give the guys at Co-Construct a try. I think you'll find the same thing my team and I have found - they will become an integral part of your building experience.

We have been building homes, remodeling, and custom cabinetry for 40 years. We are exclusively a custom shop and have never built the same house twice. I decided to switch to Co-construct from another similar system a few years ago.

This system has transformed the way we interact with clients and our trade partners. We were able to meet an extremely difficult deadline for one of our best clients, primarily because of the schedule in Co-construct. Through it, we were able to keep in constant communication with the trades, as far as adjustments to their start dates. I have never before found a scheduling software with so much power and flexibility at the same time.

The selections part of the software is now our specifications document, as well as the selections options information to clients, all in the same place!! I have been searching for a long time for something to hold all of the information that goes into a building a home. I finally have it. I am able to share a great deal of information with clients about what makes us a better builder. For example, I have photos and literature uploaded onto our template regarding the superior sub-floor product that we use. Clients can choose to read this information or skip past it. Each day that I am asked a question from the field, it gets added to the selections template. Yesterday I added asking which side of the sink does the client desire the garbage disposal to be placed. It's these kinds of details that, when added together, can create greater efficiencies and thus profit!

In all my years in the industry I have never worked with a software company that works so hard to continuously improve it's product ever! Most softwares will send out a minor tweak here and there, and occasionally a big upgrade. Not these guys. I am constantly delighted in surprise of the continuous stream of well thought out upgrades to a system that already seems amazing! As long as you aren't one of my competitors, I highly recommend Co-construct!

The software is a good fit for semi-custom builders. It was sold to us as a fit for fully custom work, but it's not suited for that. The whole system is built around specification sheets. The idea is that you can build it once with your standard options, have your client click on choices, and all is entered. Problem is, in a company like ours, there is no standard. Every job is different. The specification sheets are very time intensive to build, so it makes no sense to draw up a new one for every job- it's just not built to do that (they admitted that it's not).
This is all fine- it wasn't a good fit for us. The reason I'm not likely to recommend it to others is that they are unclear about their money back guarantee. The guarantee says that you have to use the system on an actual job, with an actual client, to qualify for the money back guarantee. It doesn't say anything else. I used the system on an actual job with an actual client, but they refused to comply with their agreement since I met with my client in person (I was even able to document this for them) rather than having them sign in separately. It made no sense for them to sign in separately since I never had a fully functioning database to show them (again, it didn't work for our company). Even though my client and I put about 8 hours in to building specifications together (I spent probably another 30 or so alone), they said that I didn't do it the way they want. I told them they need to clear up their requirements or not have a money back guarantee. I'm curious how many others have been taken on this.
