Co-construct Software


 

Co-construct is a robust web-based solution developed for custom builders and remodelers. With Co-construct, custom contractors have access to a solution that addresses the unique challenges faced by companies in this niche.

Co-construct is a collaborative solution that helps businesses coordinate their selections, schedules and photos while also improving client relationships with more dynamic, interactive communication. It's best suited to companies with less than $10 million in revenue seeking minimal IT involvement; the web-based deployment eliminates the need for a large hardware investment. It integrates with QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Xero accounting systems.

Co-construct is accessed from a login form on the contractor's website. From here, team members, subs and clients can access their own secure portals to address tasks unique to their role - tracking change orders and project budget, update online schedules, share files and photos, enter jobsite logs, and access cross-project reporting. This data can be downloaded at any time and Co-construct offers mobile apps to update your schedule, retrieve files, review selections and more.  

This online portal is branded with the company name, colors and logo for a more professional look and any outgoing messages and handouts also include the company brand. Builders also get their own, branded mobile app for use with clients.

Co-construct brings together all client and sub communications into a single location; everyone can still use email, but Co-construct's patented communication feature captures and organizes these communications online, so finding something takes seconds. With email and text message alerts, clients, team members and subcontractors alike stay informed of project updates in real time. 

Co-construct is backed by an expert support team with free help for all customers and they actually host complimentary, twice-weekly webinars where users of the software can meet and share ideas, trade tips and get help.

The organization and simplicity once one is familiar with it - Makes communication of selection, quotes, DWGs etc almost dummy proof, and the clients approval is through this program, and it's all in a location where it can be easily retrieved/reviewed at a later date vs. trying to go through all paper copies, emails etc.

As transition is hard it would be helpful for a trainer to make visits to the builder/designer business location to do training there vs. traveling to VA. There are 5 people in the branch of our office, and 6 in our builder's office that all need to be trained further. We would've paid for travel and lodging etc. for a CoConstruct trainer to come train us all.... Instead there are only two out of the 11 people that will be actively using it that are able to travel to VA and that is even a stretch.

The detail that this product brings to the table is in a class of its own. Support as well as continuing education is unheard of. The best of any I have experienced. I purchased Co-Construct as well as another software claiming to be similar at the IBS. From the sales pitch, I could not decide. After entering a few of my jobs in to each software, it became clear that Co- Construct was the software of choice. The support I received from Co-Construct made the transition very easy and cost effective, considering a new process implementation. Very happy!

Some of the software out there have parts that are just for show. They are not user-friendly and/or leave part of very useful information out completely or not linked to other parts of the software. Use the Webinars. You can find answers to your questions, not only from Co-Construct staff, but also other builders.

The only thing I'd like to see is estimating on this program. This will make it the best by far. And I don't use quickbooks and don't like the integration and code, but that's me - probably works for others. But no complaints about the vendor. Great team!

Just do it! You'll be glad you did. Or don't, and then when I see you in the bidding world, I'll get the job due to my online login!

The ease of understanding where the project and client is with selections etc..

It seems to take a lot of time to imput information etc.. But we a custom home builder so no project is the same.

Recommendations

Make sure the product is user friendly for clients not savvy with technology. A lot of our clients are older and not a part of the computer generation. Then are getting better with smartphones so this is helping out.

I like that clients can see what they need to see and that it can be used as a tool for selections. It would be a good tool for our trades if they used it more. Some refuse to do so, so we're still having to communicate w/ them outside this program.

I don't like that the accounting function doesn't work with Quick Books as indicated. But, I also don't think it should be. I also think it's not as user friendly as it could be. For me, it's pretty easy, but for some of our Project Managers, it's a foreign language and there are too many places to go to write something. It's also hard to find things once you've written them. The scheduling part of it is really difficult for the guys in the field to use. The links with days and such is somewhat confusing for them, also.

See the above statement. But, I do think the accounting function just muddies the waters. If you're going to have it, make sure it works. I've talked to other users of this product, and they say the same thing. I also think the scheduling part of the program could be improved. Our guys who use Macs have trouble getting it to do what they want, although it's much easier to navigate on a Windows based machine.

We have lots of points of integration with QuickBooks, including our unique ability to pull budget actuals and give up-to-the-day revised projected totals. Our team is happy to do a screenshare to make sure all of the QuickBooks settings are correct. We can also help with answering your team’s questions on schedule. As you noted, we do have lots of powerful features for creating dependencies, lag/lead times, and more. Not all users need to take advantage of that, and users who are new to those concepts often learn them best by using our simple drag-and-drop grant view, which works on both Windows and Macs. I am a new user of the Co-construct product and I have found that it is easy to use and understand. The more you use it the easier it is to use. I have found the process to be logical and communication driven for all parties related to the project.

The vendor has been very good at providing many training opportunities and when asked questions they get back to you right away and you are not left waiting.

My experience has been very positive.

Have not had any real issue with the product or vendor if there was any issue it was when first starting with the product and training and getting up to speed with the different time zones.

Write down the things you are trying to achieve with a software program and then evaluate. You can easily get distracted by the bells and whistles shown, but make sure you don't stray from your key objectives.

It works. A few years ago we transitioned to apple products which has greatly reduced our IT support needs. This product reminds me of that transition. It seems every time I've asked a question to support or during implementation the solution is readily available or is in the engineering queue to be resolved soon.

We have a wide range of Customers. My biggest problem is when I have a small project that goes through the prospect phase then eats up one of my billable jobs when I make it active. I would like to be able to roll a job that I will never add a client to from prospect to no-client. We don't set up a no-client job until we have a commitment or contract so at this point we only use these jobs for existing projects when we started using the system and for small handyman service calls.

The ease of changing the dates of completed tasks which then change the dates of other tasks to make sure you keep on track. Due to slight delays in the building industry all the time, to be able to change one date to which changes the dates of everything else means organising what needs to happen next a breeze.
