I have used Procore on a recent project. I liked the overall feel of the project but its hard to track whose responsibility it is a document that needs approval. I would like that feature to be improved.

Pros

Interface is nice.

Cons

No responsibility matrix.

I am new to Procore. The team I lead and the company I now work for are fully engaged in Procore. In fact, our firm just renewed for another year.
This app (Maven) tied to the Procore system has allowed me to engage more quickly into the system thus making me more valuable to my team and my firm.

Pros

Easy to use and to achieve.

Cons

When lots of people figure this out it will be difficult to differentiate skill sets. Add your training to the completion milestones to make it even stickier!!

Advice to Others

Give it a shot!!

After a long review process of numerous PM software solutions, we chose Procore due to its user-friendly vibe, construction drawings management, communication tools and storage options.

Pros

Dashboard look, drawings management, the way of integrating the external actors (consultants, trades, etc.) into our workflow (personalized training sessions, etc.)

Cons

It doesn't offer a truly integrated accounting solution yet; however, they are working on it.
Estimating, scheduling, reporting capabilities need to be further developed.

Advice to Others

Not a cheap solution, however, it's worth the time to get a closer look at what Procore can offer.

Definitely the most expensive of all of the project management software that we've looked at. It initially turned our company off to Procore and we went with another software which was abysmal. Ended up ditching it after 6 months and getting Procore. I've found most subcontractors, owners and architects/engineers are familiar with it and that is a huge plus.

Pros

All phases of construction management at your fingertips.
Familiarity with the industry.
Ease of use (after some playing around).

Cons

Pricey.

My company has been using Procore since 2012 and we absolutely love how the system works and helps our company operate on a daily basis. We were with Procore before some of their bigger tools were created so we've seen the system completely evolve and turn into a state of the art product that is designed specifically for the construction industry. Procore is an "all-in-one" product that takes care of 95% of everything we do at each stage of the construction process from pre-construction and bidding to punch and close outs. Not only has the system evolved and grown, but the company itself has done so as well. We've worked with some really great Procore employees that have helped us customize the system to fit our needs. We highly recommend this system due to ease of use, innovation of technology, different collaboration abilities and the ability to work 100% from the cloud.

Procore for the Subcontractor

I recently purchased Procore for our business after long, thorough research on how well it will work for the subcontractor. Procore is primarily focused on the General contractor as it has everything a GC would need to completely run their project. There are Project Management software programs out there that focus on the subcontractor, I did demo those also. As far as making it work as a subcontractor, it's simple. The GC has to bill and submit paperwork to the owner, as a subcontractor, I treat the GC as the owner so the program works the same for me just a level down.

Pros

-Ease of use
-Incredible Reports
-Very professional forms sent to clients
-Phenomenal Training and customer support

Cons

-Some areas can be challenging to navigate
-Lack of support for Mac computers using Procore Drive
-Certain areas of program not useful at all to subcontractors
-Subscription packages do not offer the ability to add certain areas of programs as needed. For instance, I may only need the entry level package but could also use the accounting items. Those are only available in the top level package. Now I have to get the best, most expensive package just to use that one item and really don't need all of the other items.

Advice to Others

My final thoughts are this. If you are looking for a strong, robust project management software that is easy to use, Procore is the choice. As a General contractor, no comparison, as a subcontractor, it takes some thought but if your somewhat tech savvy, you can easily navigate this program and make it work for you.

This product is by far the best project management tool I have used. It can be used internally as well as externally with Owners and Engineers. We used it as a project team platform as well as our internal contracts, PO's Etc. It is easy to use and has many features. You can use your smartphone as well as your tablet or desktop. You can access all of your project data from your smartphone. Procore is the ultimate communication tool for any project team.

Pros

Easy to use
Many functions
Access all project documents from smartphone
Reasonable Cost

Cons

The accounting feature requires double data entry and will not pull data from our accounting software. We do not use the accounting portion of Procore.
Sometimes Procore will change a feature and not let us know. This has created some issues with how we have set up our system.

Advice to Others

If you are looking for a PM software that can organize your projects in-house and has a platform for email notifications externally for a project team - this is a great software. We have had no resistance from Owners and Engineers letting us host the project software. It is easy to use and the notifications are great.

We do third party Construction Management to manage construction projects and contractors for Public Agencies. We are using Procore for document control purposes. Procore has typically been used by contractors and is geared more toward contractor needs. However, they do have functionality that allows it to be used by Construction Managers and Owners. While we have had some challenges adapting Procore to our business needs, it has the needed functionality and Procore staff has been helpful in providing guidance to adapt to our needs. The pricing was very competitive with other systems and in many cases less costly.

Pros

The flexibility of the Documents section allows us to set up file structures that reflect the required file structure needed by the Owners we represent. The ability to restrict access to certain portions of the system so that information can be stored and shared with the owner, but is not accessible by the Contractor.

Cons

The Daily Log function is not very flexible and the ability to change the size of photos would be beneficial.

Advice to Others

Understand what your needs are before you begin looking for Document Control software/systems. Do your research on the systems that are out there before you buy anything. Have potential software suppliers/developers go through thorough online demonstrations with several people in your firm before you buy anything. Talk to other firms in the same business as your firms and find out what they use and get their feedback on ease of use, functionality and support. Clearly, understand the cost structure of the software because of the cost structures very significantly from one system to another.
