Procore Construction Software

Procore is a cloud-based construction management software application built for the construction industry professional, striving to make project management effortless, one task at a time. With Procore’s easy-to-use and collaborative software, users can manage their projects at anytime, from anywhere, with any Internet-connected device.

Since their founding in 2003, Procore has appeared on Constructech's list of "Hottest Companies" and named one of INC.’s 500/5000 Fastest Growing Companies for the second year. The software currently supports over 800 companies and boasts a user base of more than 500,000 users.

Procore offers a strong project management application with superior, yet easy to use tools for managing schedules, documents, RFIs, drawings, submittals, and more. Firms can also integrate the system with scheduling files from Microsoft Project, Primavera SureTrak, and other industry standard scheduling tools.

Procore operates under the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, allowing general contractors, project managers, as well as architect and engineering firms, to buy the software on a subscription basis to manage and automate their communications and processes—saving ample time and money.

Pricing is provided using an unlimited annual usage license, which includes unlimited user access, implementation, training, and customer support. Procore gets customers up to speed with their software by including all training and support in the software package.

Fans of mobile software integration will also be happy to know that Procore’s cloud-based model allows users, including all subcontractors, to manage their project data from any standard web-browser—computers and smartphones to tablets and iPads. These applications are free to Procore users and can be easily downloaded from their respective app stores.

Supported Operating System(s):
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2000, Web browser (OS agnostic), Mac OS

Procore has solved many of our internal document control, bidding, and construction-related issues. It has removed a multitude of double entry and synced with our accounting software.

Likes Least

We have had some technical issues within the bidding tool. The system overloads if you select too many subcontractors.

Recommendations

I would consider the long term affordability as well as the pros/cons to a cheaper software

I really like the document control. It helps manage documents from the office to the ground.

Likes Least

Some features are a little restrictive. Transmitting documents must be added one at a time to the transmittal.

Recommendations

It's good for light to medium-sized construction projects.

I like that they are thinking and designing for the future. This is not a product that evolved 15 years ago and has been added to. They started with a fresh look on how construction project management flows and actually works. I love that they are innovative and not stuck in the mud with outdated ideas but instead work quickly enough for new ideas and are thorough enough to make them work like they should. They seem to anticipate what I want it to do.

Likes Least

Not much. I chose them for my company after a month-long review process of all the other products out there. Anything I do not like is slight and nitpicky. I suppose that I would like to be able to print a drawing from within Procore.

Recommendations

Think how you work. Start by saying "I want to..." and make a list. Do not get distracted by other features and lose sight of what you know you want the software to do. Do not let the salesperson tell you. Make him or her show you. Most importantly, get your own hands on the product. It should be a tool. Not difficult.

It's an easy-to-use system. The video training was great, and the support is excellent, especially the live chat. The Procore team was willing to work with us and even added suggested improvements on our behalf. Our implementation went smoothly.

Likes Least

I think it would be a huge benefit if when a professional completes the video training, the administrator could be emailed a notification of their completion. We had 150 professionals, and policing their training process through to completion was very time-consuming. Also, it would help if the project number would show up with the project name/title on outgoing documents/emails, for when you have more than one project for the same client.

Recommendations

Make sure it is easy to use for everyone, that the vendor has a good support system in place that is quick to respond, that they have been in business for a while, and that they provide a contact person that will work with you throughout the entire process.

I don't like how pictures of the project are put in. I would suggest that all steps require a picture to define completion.

I find it a bit cumbersome to update the drawings tab with a new revision of drawings, but the mark up tools make it worth the time it takes.

Recommendations

Support is so key when looking at a software that will be used by a company. It's great if you can learn it, but unless you have the time to teach and support all the staff that will be using it, this should be a major factor to consider and what is that support and training worth to you?

You can't make sub-folders in photos. It may improve when Sage integrates with Procore, but right now, it's double or even triple entry to track subs, costs, billings, etc.
