Procore Construction Software

Procore is a cloud-based construction management software application that helps firms increase their project efficiency and accountability by providing streamlined project communication and documentation. Users are able to manage their projects from any web-connected mobile device, tablet, laptop, or desktop.

Procore provides users a way to collaborate on projects and view various documents, including submittals, RFIs, contracts, schedules, and drawings. Everyone from general contractors and architects to engineers and construction management firms are able to edit and share project data from the job site while facility owners can view the progress of each project in their portfolios.

Enterprise-level businesses leverage Procore to manage construction projects, field communications, drawings, documents, and more.

Procore operates under the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, allowing general contractors and project managers to buy the software on a subscription basis.

This product allows me to manage my job all from one place. It is very easy to use and the Procore team is always available to help. Not only that, but its a work in progress - almost all the things I've asked for have been actually done.

Likes Least

I don't like that my markups aren't free drawn and the cloud has to be a perfect square/rectangle.

Recommendations

I think others should know that procore staff are very approachable, and are more than willing to actually help and make amends to the program. I see procore being the only construction management software on the market very soon from how good it is.

That the save button is down below when editing, no preliminary tracking and the insurance certificate tracking is on the directory tab instead of its own tab

Recommendations

Put in a tab for preliminary notice and waiver tracking, insurance certificate tab, and allow more than one set of cost code structures for new projects and put the save button on top so you don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom to save

We love the ease of use of the software and that our field employees can access anywhere on their mobile device or iPad when they need to most. Our experience with Procore Support has been phenomenal!

Likes Least

Vendor = nothing.
Product = That if you email from a particular tab, it doesn't carry over to the email tab. It would be nice to have it all captured in one spot.
Not being able to edit user email addresses. One example is we had an Architect get married. Her company changed her email address. Procore told us we had to inactivate her and create a new account. Then we lost everything she was connected to on many projects prior to that. That sucked!
Being able to bulk edit submittals would be extremely helpful. Most of the times, we have set the workflow, then the approvers change and we have to hand edit each entry.

Recommendations

Really do your research on each software program, ask for trial runs, test each one as much as you can, then make your decision.

Very clean, easy to use interface. Meeting minute module is very handy.

Likes Least

There are some inconsistencies between the workflow of various modules. The worst is the differences between RFIs and Submittals. These should work in identical ways. For instance, Submittals allow you to set up a workflow between users, and further allows any user who has the "ball" for this submittal to forward to other people (i.e. consultants, engineers, etc.). RFI's only allow you to answer it. To have a consultant review it, you have to create an emailable PDF version of the RFI to forward to someone else for review.

Emails are also a weak link, with no outlook plug-in, you have to forward all project related correspondence to a project email, as opposed to drag and dropping email into watched folders within outlook. I am sure if you were clever and had time, you could set up some rules that might semi-automate the process.

Recommendations

Training is key for any new software package, however, I think ProCore's simple interface allows much simpler and quicker training to get up to speed. It is also very difficult for a user to permanently screw up something. Normally it is Garbage In = Garbage Out, but in this case, the admin users can easily go back in and correct bad data entry.

Likes Least

This was a new product to me so I didn't really understand the steps necessary to print off what I needed. When I did try to print the documents I didn't have the correct program to succeed. I didn't feel it was very user friendly, especially to new comers. This was not a product I actually chose to use so I'm sure that made a difference.

Recommendations

If you have certain vendors that you use and will be emailing back and forth, make sure they are aware of the program you will be using, make sure it fits your needs and is user friendly for your vendors.

When I need to call technical support they are responsive. Even if they can't answer my question and have to "send it up the food chain" for a more technically based answer.

The entire program still feels like a Beta version. I'm not sure if that's due to how we have it setup on a company level or if there are still structural issues Procore is addressing elsewhere; it could be more dialed in.

Recommendations

As it sits now the program is geared towards the traditional design-bid-build market (again I'm not sure if this is due to the way our company is using it, etc). It would be nice to have additional flexibility for agency construction management, at-risk construction management, design-build and Owner's Rep style projects/contract types.
