Fishbowl is a business automation and inventory management platform for small to midsize companies. It integrates with QuickBooks accounting.

Fishbowl offers inventory control, material requirements planning (MRP) and job shop floor control / manufacturing execution, and can be to users’ needs. It is an inventory-centric system, with features for barcoding, asset management, raw materials management, cycle counting and customized reporting. The system also automates the quoting, ordering and purchasing processes.

Fishbowl is used in just about every industry by companies earning up to $100 million in annual revenue. It offers training and support resources through its training videos, online tutorials, in-house specialists and more. Fishbowl’s integration with QuickBooks allows users to integrate manufacturing, sales, and distribution processes with back office accounting.

Cons

if you planning in opening a eBay amazon you ok, other than that walk away.
there is not much i like about it. not at all it is not made for over 1 mil companies. home user will find if fun to work with

It is very hard to customize reports, part and product FYI Are not the same F.B is good for shipping but when you need to mix it with your accounting program its lacking, as it is not an accounting program.

If you decide to use them make sure not to sign long term contract

I am incredibly disappointed in the products service and wish I could get my money back, however since it takes weeks for a reply and over a two months to get to the point where I could actually use the software, it was past the period of a refund. They do not care about you, your time, or your business.

Pros

I like the capabilities of the product. It has a lot of great features that could be utilized if you were able to get the proper support and training.

Cons

The set up has taken over two months with absolutely terrible customer service and support. I am still not able to utilize the software in a way that is even workable in my business and I have called, left messages, sent emails and it is not abnormal for it to take weeks for a reply if you even get one. Also it does not have quality sales reports.

The software is very powerful. It's also very user-friendly. It makes simple things easy. For example, when you are searching for parts or inventory, you only need to type in a portion of the part number. It can even be the middle of the part, and it will pull up all relevant matches. When searching for a part, you input your information and just hit enter. No need to take your hands off the keyboard and move the mouse to click on something. Blows Quickbooks multi-inventory away.

Cons

The main screens on the vendor and customer modules are greyed out because you can't edit names and numbers from there. The greyed out areas are very difficult to read.

The idea behind the software is great, sadly not reflected when using the program. Fishbowl is very flexible and allow us to use close to the way we need.

Cons

Tech Support. They are great when you can get connected but it took me a week to get a call back. User interface could be a little more friendly. A lot of grey buttons and some weird bugs often makes it hard to use.

If you are going to charge this much for a product it should look like it was made in this century, it should have all of the modern data interchange features expected from a modern application, and support should be fantastic. We have started looking at alternatives and will NOT be renewing.

Pros

Decent product. The interface is a little dated, and some standard thing you would expect in functionality are missing or difficult to use. But, overall, it is a decent product if your goal is to have an inventory and order management system that integrates with Quickbooks.

Cons

You will get no support unless you complain. We just updated our license, paid for a year of support. Still waiting 48 hours later for a call back from support. This is normal.

When you do get the support you will most likely start with the lowest level support and have to either speak to the real support people through an intermediary or have to wait another day or two for the next level of support to call you back. Repeat that process until you finally get to someone who knows what they are talking about.

Support this expensive should be fantastic. Instead, I am not certain what they could do to make this any worse.

Up until the update to MY SQL we were doing great with FB, we have over a month that we've experienced major issues with the system

It's really a great value compared to other ERP systems.

Pros

There's a lot more to Fishbowl than meets the eye. I strongly recommend on-site training. Fishbowl support team is excellent. Fishbowl is a great value.

Cons

Setting up plug-ins have been challenging. We're a Mac shop and there are a few issues with the client app, but in the end, Fishbowl's Mac application works just fine.

I have been the FB admin for about 4.5 years now - it has it's good points, like the TO module, but for reporting it isn't all that we need

not sure if FB can handle large companies with 3 party manufacturing - it doesn't seem to now.

modules for the different things you need to do, like SO and TO and parts - ease of adding part numbers.

Cons

it did not Drop Ship the way we needed it to. I have to review the sales each day and remove the items that the boss does not track. It does crash still on exports, but it is much better than before.

Pros

Inventory manager likes options and functionality. Have been using for two years with mixed feelings because of support.

Cons

Product support is nothing short of horrible. Much frustration getting answers to issues in a timely manner. Our salesman was deceptive. Told me what I wanted to hear right up to running my credit card. Then refused to give me the information promised. What a shame.

Fishbowl Inventory was a great success in our first year of utilization. The biggest and easiest improvement was the vast reduction of manual order duplication, as we were able to have orders submitted from our website directly into Fishbowl, and then have sales orders pushed directly into Quick Books on the back end of the system. As we learn to better use Fishbowl, we are more accurate with reporting to our customer's accurate data, and also keep our sales representatives up to date with inventory levels, pricing, and order tracking on behalf of their customers.

For the record - our small seed company grew with the help of Fishbowl Inventory!

Pros

We really like the data transfer capabilities with an API interface from our website order platform, and the data push into Quick books on the back end. So much time has been saved from manual data entry duplication. The ability to have multiple users from all over with remote hosting allows sales reps from TX to MT to place orders and see inventory availability prior to order placing. Having the opportunity to write our own I-reports to meet our specifications.

Cons

We haven't been able to make mobile applications work yet for our systems. We still have challenges with the real time tracking of inventory between locations with using bar-codes, scanners and mobile devices.

We are now six months into our Fishbowl deployment and I must say, our expectations have been surpassed. May it be functionality or support, the Fishbowl team delivers. I would also like to note that the support team goes the extra mile! Garret has been great!

The customer support team. Our rep from the plug-in/integrations team was a HERO. We were having all kinds of issues on our side with IT and he helped trouble shoot and walk us through all the places things could be going wrong until we were able to complete the integration. Highly responsive and committed to our success.

Cons

There are a lot of touch points that can have issues unless you have someone to help you steer through them all, it can be frustrating/time consuming. Once resolved - wonderful solution for inventory management.

It is very frustrating when we have an "urgent" issue that we never know when FB is going to call back after we contact by phone. We play phone tag and sometimes because of this I many not get to talk to someone for several days due to "phone tag."

I do think that the software is easy to use, but I've never used another inventory system. the system was not designed for food products which we use it for

The customer support chat is useless. I have never had them be able to fix a problem. they always point you to their phone support. The phone support does not have a live person. you MUST leave a message for them to call you back, which could take between 24-48 hours, which is not always ideal when you have a problem. Once they call you back, they can usually help, but it's just not timely

The biggest benefit was seeing exactly where we needed to be more efficient. We didn't track our vendors well before and now we know exactly how long it takes to get items we've ordered and how long it takes us to manufacture the items and get them back out the door.

Pros

The software is great for keeping track of our inventory and our manufacturing processes. We know exactly what can be shipped and it has increased efficiency quite a bit.

Cons

Reporting could use some work, it is a bit clunky. The reports are there but I've found the best way to work with them is to download the .csv and work with it in a spreadsheet. They have services to create custom reports if necessary.

Inventory management is a breeze, great for warehousing and manufacturing bigger build products, the modules, and UI is well thought out, and very logical, they did a great job with it. They have great eCommerce integrations they added on for magento and amazon which makes it more powerful. The fact that you buy the product up front (with a year of support that can be renewed) makes it seem like you are saving money by owning the software, but you'll need to upgrade every year until the software does what you want it.

Pros

It's great if you are manufacturing the same thing over and over, so you need 500 or 1000 widgets made the same way. It's a pretty powerful tool for warehousing and inventory. It costs for just the warehousing, plus users and add-ons. They'll give you a discount if you ask them, but you almost should just go with a saas program you'll get quicker updates. fishbowl you can save lots of money down the road if you don't buy there support package. They have a pretty good product development team, but it takes them at least a year it seems like to roll out any useful new features you talk to them about.

Cons

Very challenging to set up, learning curve is huge in my opinion. The BOM stages work for the most part, but you'll spend a lot of time in a sandbox database seeing if what you want works (if your doing multi stage builds) If your doing 1 to 100 of anything, and what your making varies order to order, I'd recommend some other software like ordoo, shopvox, or corbridge. They are alot quicker to set up on the

Time and money saver.

Pros

Very easy to use. Well thought out. This software has been a huge time and money saver for us. I would recommend this software to another company.

Cons

Experienced a few technical issues, which unfortunately took a few months to fix. That would be my only complaint. I would love it if issues were fixed faster.

ease of use. FB is easy to use and learn. It works well with Quickbooks and seems to integrate without incident.

Cons

custom reports are lacking and it takes a long time to get your report people to make custom reports. The software is extremely weak as it pertains to the use of bar coding.

Pros

The ease of use. It's simple to understand yet handles a LOT of data. Self-explanatory fields as well as many options for reports.

Cons

Nothing, actually. I would recommend this product. We have been using this product for over seven years without any complaints.

The software does a nice job of recording lot numbers, and tracking through the system. I am being forced to enter more data here, but I don't like much else about this product. We run Google sheets as a database to track our production.

Cons

Customer service - I've been trying to reach someone for a week to resolve an issue. I have never reached a live person via a phone call, and always expect at least 24 hours or more to hear back from them. Also the reporting is dismal. Budget to purchase additional reporting.

We have used Fishbowl for over 10 years and have seen the evolution of the software, we like the fact that with each update a new feature is added along with more functionality. The UI is simple to use and understand and the online videos makes training of new employees much easier. The only problem we have encountered with the system is the tech support response time, sometimes it takes more than a day to solve a simple issue.
Overall, the software is a great tool for our operations; we handle all our sales, purchasing, inventory, and manufacturing.
