It's a good all around software.

Pros

Because NetSuite provides customization it gives you freedom to tweak the software and mold it perfectly to your business needs

Cons

Sometimes upgrades and new versions causes problems with the current system. Keeping up with NetSuite, tech drama. The price is too expensive for small business owners :-(

I'd highly recommend Netsuite for anyone that is used to SAP.

Pros

I like the ease of use, reporting features are great, and overall experience is excellent. I also like the fact that I can be anywhere in the world and log into my account.

Cons

Product support is lacking. Takes a long time for requests to be fulfilled, or they will tell you flat out that it will take 6months to a year.

There are some tedious tasks and can be done from too many different ways. I work in this system daily and have gotten to be much better at it but our salesmen who use it every other day, it is very time-consuming. I would consider most aspects of it very time consuming and the support has not been very good.

Pros

It has a lot of functions, maybe too many.

The program is not as wonderful as I was lead to believe.

Pros

Good at calculating profitability for projects.

Cons

-When entering parts into a sales order, PO, or invoice, there is too much clicking of the mouse. Should be able to tab through the fields and down to the next line. Adds a significant amount of time.
-If you add a field to a transaction form that was not in the original form, it will not print. You will have to reenter the part for that field to appear.
-Printable debit memo not available.

NetSuite has great capabilities. We switched from our previous software to NetSuite on 1/1/17 and have had good results so far.

Pros

The ability to create your own reports from scratch.
The ability to track profitability and commissions as the previous software did not track either of them accurately.

Cons

When entering a sales order or purchase order, instead of using the Tab button to go to the next line, you have to click "OK" to go to the next line item. It takes additional time as you have to take your hands off of the keyboard so it would be nice to use the keyboard more than having to use the mouse.
I also do not like the "Inventory Detail" part of it as you have to click on each individual item in order to enter the bin number and pallet number in which you are taking out of inventory. This also makes processing orders a lot more time to consume than it should be. We switched to NetSuite to get away from Excel as it would save us time. I'm not sure that NetSuite will save me anytime.

I like the comprehensive pricing options that are available throughout the platform. The csv. import feature saves time and allows for thousands of item pricing changes within an hour.

Likes Least

There are an array of features which make it necessary for longer training periods. After using the system for a year I have still yet to scratch the surface of platform functionality.

Recommendations

It is definitely a valuable system for a company with massive inventory. Make sure the costly price is right for your business.

This product really truly impressed me with the incredible amount of features and its versatility for multiple applications. This product is useful for most any business as it includes capabilities that are suitable to meet the demands of most business models.

Likes Least

Although you have a vast amount of applicable uses for this product, it is a strength as well as a downfall. There are a lot of features that you will never use!! Also, the interface is filled with stuff that you may never need and therefore is incredibly busy on most of your screens. The learning curve for this product is INSANE and every time they come out with a new update, which is twice a year, the software has more and more issues!

Recommendations

This product is incredibly expensive but it is a massive software. It covers the needs of a super wide range of businesses which is great but you are also bogged down with extras that you will never use. This product would be great for a giant company but for the regular old mom and pop companies its probably not a good fit!

Makes invoicing fast & very easy. Lots of options & easy to customize this software to make it work for your company & what you are invoicing.

Pros

NetSuite can do so many things. It is the easiest program I have ever used for invoicing. It has a lot of different options to choose from that you can utilize. You can tell it to tax a customer/parent company or you can tell it that the company is tax exempt. So everytime you do an invoice for that company it will automatically add or not add the tax. There is even a "file" section that you can upload forms like tax exempt forms, or customer contracts. And it is so easy to bring up a company & see all of the invoices that we have ever made for them in a list. It has made our invoicing streamlined & very straight forward. This software has so many options it's crazy. If anyone in our accounting department can think of something that would be helpful to us on the invoice that is not already there, the president of our company can go into the "back ground" of the software & add & delete fields from our invoicing templates. Love this program!!!

Cons

It can be confusing to figure out how to set up your "Dashboard" for your own specification & usage. Other than that there isn't anything that we don't like about NetSuite!!

Best ratio of features and price on an ERP.

Pros

Using an ERP sounds like a big decision. The main concern people has when thinking about using a cloud ERP is the flexibility they won't have. In Netsuite case is completely opposite. You will have your own instance and do almost what you want to do on top of it. Uptime is around 99.9X% which is more than acceptable. The availability to connect it to other external platforms trough API is a dream made true. Is very reach in features and quality.

Cons

When you process lot's of data in batch mode or you need to have API responses in real time, be careful. You can have acceptable time responses, but you might need to buy extra queues processing.

To be successful at any Integration, like NetSuite their needs to be a lot of communication. I think some things that was promised for an out of box solution like NetSuite has many limitations. We were finding that a lot of integrations from our legacy systems took a lot of development to and from NetSuite. Over all NetSuite is a great product, despite all the issues.

Pros

The way the NetSuite software was layed-out was easy to navigate. A lot of features are hidden in multiple drop down menu's so the learning curve could be much faster if pages you used most could be pinned at the top of the menus.

Cons

Like I stated before the most used pages are hidden in the menus.

Advice to Others

Be prepared to custom develop your own webpages to make a lot of complicated legacy items work with NetSuite. If you just think transferring your data to NetSuite and think it will work out of the box then your in a big surprise. Overall NetSuite is a great product for a small to mid-level ERP system.

If you are looking for a system you can log into and in a few days be fluent and feel comfortable, NetSuite isn't for you. It is an extremely powerful and flexible system. That power and flexibility brings a high level of complexity.

I'm a consultant that recently helped a company move from Peachtree to NetSuite including all their accounting processes and their website. It was a complex process that took a strong attention to detail and much forethought. It isn't something you'll do in a month. Now 1.5 years later, that company is thrilled with their choice. Sales are way up because of the improved website. Customer service ratings have skyrocketed because the CSRs now have a complete picture of the customer and all their interactions including website, phone, and email. The business owner has a much more detailed image of the business and is able to make decisions faster that have a positive impact on the business. Before NetSuite there was much more guesswork. Now decisions are based on actual data.

All this doesn't come cheaply or easily. NetSuite can be tuned to your business in nearly infinite ways. I still fine tune their experience on a daily basis a year later. Customizing emails, pdfs, transaction screens and more. All this pays off with more efficiency in all aspects of the business.

If you are looking for fast and simple, you will be very disappointed. If you are looking for something that has the power to do many, many things and you're willing to put in the time and money it takes to get a great return on your investment, you'll be happy.

Pros

Power and flexibility.

Cons

Complex.

Advice to Others

Best to have a consultant or NetSuite partner help you with the implementation.

Our support team can see what sales, finance, and professional services are doing with a customer. They can see case history for all the users at the customer. Ease of use is a really good, but the sales team struggles (but their focus should be on selling so they don't use the system as often).
Using issues module, we can keep customers up to date on enhancement and bug fixes while closing their current case with a workaround. The update on the fix goes automatically to the customer when the issue is resolved.
Everyone can see when a customer is marked at risk. And anyone with customer contact can enter the alert to give the account owners more time to resolve.

Pros

Access in the cloud was a big plus for us. But the full view of the customer has been the bigger gain.

Cons

The search constraints don't allow for too many layers in a single search. Case reports cant look into invoice pricing as the invoices are on the customer. A customer search can se that, but if you are starting with case parameters to understand a product profit margin from support, it requires some cross referencing in excel.

NetSuite has served my small business needs well. NetSuite allows me to easily track income, expenses, profit, and employees all from the homepage. The homepage shows most of what I need for my situation. In addition to the homepage though are many more detailed pages giving you insight into every aspect of your business.

NetSuite has more features than I need, and it works. My only complaint has been Customer Support. I give them 3 out of 5 stars for Customer Support, but keep in mind that is more than I would give most companies. Most companies, unfortunately, get a 1 or 2-star rating for Customer Support.

Overall it has been the best option I could find for my small computer repair business. It has all the functionality I require, and much that I don't. This will allow NetSuite to still serve me or others well as our businesses grow larger.

I had been previously using QuickBooks, and I feel this was a great upgrade. A few cons: hard to customize individual items, but I learned to work around it.

Really easy to use. User-friendly, which is a plus with any type of software. It worked great. The features and functionality were great too.
