Founded in 2011, Jobber is a cloud-based field service and landscaping solution designed for small and midsize businesses. The software offers scheduling, invoicing, a client database, quotes and other tasks.

The scheduling module allows users to update jobs in real-time, including information on progress and completion. Setting up a single job or a recurring contract is easy, and multiple employees can be assigned to the same job. Jobber offers drag-and-drop functionality, so users can move appointments around.

Invoices are sent out automatically via email and follow-ups are built in. Jobber includes flexible invoicing options to best fit users' existing processes. Jobber partners with many popular electronic payment apps, such as Stripe and Paypal.

Jobber’s customer relationship management (CRM) module tracks contact information, and users can create custom fields, tags, attach files or phones and more. It links multiple properties under an account. All of this is connected back to the billing and work history.

Users in the field can create quotes on any smartphone or tablet and automatically forward them to clients. These can be rated and sorted by active opportunity.

JOBBER HAS IT ALL BUT FALL SHORT ON THE BASICS

The basics of what Jobber is built around is route scheduling and can do so much more. The basics of being able to simply organize routes while out in the field (like other apps offer) has been overlooked

Pros

Jobber is a great idea with excellent customer support. The support for this product is through the roof excellent! The overall programming is huge, you can do a ton of stuff with Jobber.

Cons

The Achilles heel is this; jobber is designed to be used as a route manager for administrators and employees. The idea is that an employee can load up his or her daily tasks and go to work. From an employee’s stand point that is easy enough. Click on the first job for the day and they are off . . . . .

First part of the problem we are experiencing with jobber is that if the employee is not within a good service area the photos and service notes for that home will not upload AND WILL NOT be kept in cue until the employee gets into a decent service range. If you have spotty service where your route is this will not work for you. You'll end up going back to paper logs.
FOR AN ADMINISTRATOR - jobber really sets up work nicely for the day, week, and month very nicely BUT has some really important short comings that you should be aware of PRIOR to starting this service..... As an administrator you cannot mass assign or unassign routes to and from employees. You cannot memorize the modifications to a daily route but one click.
JOBBER needs to be able to allow us to set up routes as a whole NOT just individual’s one at a time to create routes. FOR EXAMPLE: we need to be able to go into a master list of clients, click and drag those clients into a “MONDAY A” route and or a “MONDAY B” route and the same for Tuesday and Wednesday etc. etc. . . . . if we want to make changes to a route as a single entity we should be able to do that as opposed to what we have to do now which is change each individual client to be on a different day one at a time for the next 6 months and or 10 years
FOR EXAMPLE, we have three routes per day each route has approximately 20 visits. If an employee calls in sick and we need to reassign 20 visits to another employee we have to do it manually for EACH CLIENT as opposed to just reassigning and entire route to another employee.

WHAT WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL AND CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE FROM JOBBER, would be to adjust routes on the "map" page and have it ask us if we want to memorize the reorganization of that route for all future visits or just that one day. The way that it is limited requires me to go in and manually change EVERY JOB ONE BY ONE to the route organization. This process takes approximately 1 to 2 entire minutes to complete depending on whether or not the visits are reoccurring for the next 6 months or six years . . . . . 1 to 2 minutes times 20 minutes obviously doesn’t work for any administrator at all.....the only way around this is to make the changes daily or weekly which is labor intensive and your will be paying for this each time your employee has to redo the routes.

Overall, this is the best program IMO of the 4 or 5 I tried while looking for something that would work for my business. Customer support is great. And I like some of the different ways I can customize information for unusual jobs that come up from time to time.

Pros

The ability to generate quotes, then turn them into jobs, and once completed into invoices, and do it with minimal steps. This frees up time for me to focus on building new business, and enables my employees to do some of what I used to have to do. Also useful is the ability to attach notes both to a customers information, as well as to individual jobs, which is useful for both passing on special requests a customer may have for all jobs, as well as information that is specific to a particular job.

Cons

The program rounds financial numbers slightly different than accounting programs such as QBO. Which means that when we sync to QBO, there are often several minor corrections of 0.01 cent that need to be done. Would be nice to see that changed.

I would also like to see an email notification 'OPTION' where customers would be notified if a job was skipped. There should also be a section for the reason why it was skipped. We should be able to make these reasons whatever we want in the settings... THIS IS HUGE!

The amount of time I spend notifying clients we have skipped a lawn cut due to "Minimal growth" or "The lawn too wet to cut" or "Cannot access the back lawn"...

This is such an important need of ours. I want to use Jobber for the next 30 years but if these changes do not happen we may create our own program one day - I DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT!

OVERALL I WOULD RECOMMEND JOBBER TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS HELP WITH SCHEDULING & INVOICING!

Pros

I like the fact that Jobber will not allow you to forget about any jobs, quotes, & most importantly invoices...
The invoices are very professional looking. The ease of use of the software is awesome! The help/support there for you from their team is 10 out of 10/Tops/ the best! It does NOT get better as far as customer service goes...

Cons

I would like to see us be able to "Bold, italic, underline, etc" the fonts in invoices, jobs, everything! We should be able to format the font the same way we can in say - Google email!

This is a great product for a small, startup business or a business that is just getting started with a digital workflow system.

Pros

This software has a nice, simple interface which is easy to use and navigate. It does not require a bunch of setup to start using it. The cost is a great value for what you get based on our research of other products.

Cons

I wish they offered an electronic check payment option. It has some ability to customize forms and templates, but I would appreciate more options.

Easy as an Iphone to use and implement. Very simple layout. Syncs fairly seemlessly. Easy to get employees set up (except every time I had to call them to resend the email for employees - it never generated). Map feature, timer are great for use by staff.

Can't download all notes and details for each customer easily. No main database access. Text features limited and another additional cost. Field workers have to be given FULL "editable" access to be able to put a payment in the system. Field app has been simplified to the point of useless. No real CRM. Can't make changes to set up the way you do things (like having "check" as the default in a payment) which makes several extra clicks here and there which is frustrating on a daily basis.

Recommendations

Watch out for all the costs. Add-ons most companies will need/want make the price go up and up. (Still cheaper than some others but not as robust) If there is something you really want in a product, ask their staff if it is coming in the immediate future. Things take 6-12 months to implement it seems.

The app. Once it was updated, we lost the ability for the crew to see their schedules and to update their time if they messed it up. Also if a job is not scheduled for that day, then they cannot assign their hours to the job on the app.

I'd like to see more automatic uploads of our communications with clients via email and phone in Jobber.

I'd like to see job costing analysis to see if we were profitable on certain types of jobs.

Its annoying. the fact that I cant write an invoice without creating a "job" which is basically basically creating an invoice before creating an invoice makes me do the work twice. sometimes it doesn't associate the "Job" with the invoice even though it was part of creating it. its stressful.

good luck marking invoices paid if they are under the same company name. you'll have to inspect each invoice because the list of pending payments wont show the address of the work site that you need to mark paid. instead you need to have the invoice number jobber gave you even if the company you billed doesn't show it on the checks.

The invoice it creates is very picky about changes in the settings. it wouldn't let me leave a blank space so I had to insert a period instead. otherwise the page wont refresh.

Don't use the built in calendar to assist you with your due jobs. you have better luck using hotmails calendar. if you do you'll get really confused about which jobs you've created invoices for and which ones you haven't.

Recommendations

make sure the program supports "service address" instead of shipping address. when I searched for an invoicing program i had to call a few of them to ask this question.

It is hard to collect specific data spreadsheets based on the selected options. Often we want a simple spreadsheet which gives us averages to know if we are bidding our jobs right based on the time but are unable to get it.

Good, clean design and layout. Easy to use and connecting to QuickBooks works really well. I like that they offer a 'Client Hub' which is a good feature to have for your clients.

Cons

Missing some very basic features, like a shift overview of my 'workers'.
What shifts they work and what shifts they could fill. Not having this feature means I have to remember everyone's shift. Not practical if you have a lot of workers

If anyone goes on holiday - (client or worker) there is no way of recording it!! (only delete!)

CIS not supported

You can't add 'notes' to each shift - only notes to ALL shifts and not individual shift! (seriously!)

We are able to better manage our customer relations, invoicing, and employee work management by using this software. There are a few changes we wish would be improved to increase our efficiency and ease of use with the software, but the other benefits Jobber has over their competitors led us to settle for those issues anyway.

Pros

I like how we can combine our communication with customers and employees into one software. I think it has a lot of potential for us as we expand to use with our customers. I like the ability for us to take cc and sync job requests on our website.

Cons

There are a few features missing that make it really hard to deal with. The tasks cannot be organized on the grid feature which is very frustrating for scheduling purposes. Time punches cannot be made from tasks so it is difficult to track work directly related to the work and requires more steps in the process.

Being able to do (almost) everything from one place, invoicing is much quicker and less easy to forget/miss.
Please note - our industry is electrical contracting (fire alarm systems) - there isn't an option for us in your list below!

Pros

Having come from a system of spreadsheets and documents saved in numerous places, it is now great to finally have everything in one place. Invoicing is so quick and easy and completed jobs are no longer going un-invoiced thanks to the reminders.

Cons

We feel the dashboard can be quite complicated and overwhelming to look at. It would be great if the dashboard could clearly show individual sections eg: "today's jobs" and "invoices to be raised" and "today's tasks" for example, as we still feel as though we need to hunt for these instead of seeing them at a glance. The current forms do not work for us at all. This is the only part of our whole process that we have to run completely independently of Jobber. Our engineers fill out our branded, detailed PDF forms on site that are signed both by the engineer and the client. The forms are saved & emailed to the client. It is a shame that there is currently no way this can be done through Jobber but it would be absolutely brilliant if it could be in the future. We use www.pdffiller.com at present.

The integration of billing and scheduling has helped my business greatly and being able to make things mobile for my employees help keep things organized and running smoothly. I also love the fact that there is a software program out there that is specifically tailored to my industry of landscaping.

Cons

There are a few things in the billing area that I don't like. My customers would like to be able to pay their balance off of a statement when sent and they often are confused when an invoice is sent to them and the account balance is different on bottom of invoice than the invoice itself. While I understand what this means, they are often confused. It would be helpful if they could pay entire balance off of any invoice instead of having to pay invoices individually if they have missed one in the past.

#1! Customer service is over the top! Whenever we open a chat we get an answer within minutes. If the answer is no, it gets passed along to the developers.

From Quote to Job (including time tracking) to Invoice to Customer follow-up survey, Jobber has streamlined our process. The sync to Quickbooks has all but eliminated double entry.

Employee acceptance has increased as the mobile website has become more user friendly, even on the smaller screens. Our crew leaders can look at Jobber to see the details the estimator has included in his quotes, and updates as expenses and time sheets are entered.

Team members clock into and switch jobs seamlessly in the app (as long as they have signal-we are in the mountains of southern Vermont). They can also make adjustments and notes on their time sheets. The majority have left paper behind in favor of this system.

Cons

Jobber is not a Lead management tool. We created a work-around by creating a Draft Quote for each new lead so we could pull a report to see how many new leads we have, when they were received, and from where (we added a custom field for Lead Source).

The reporting is good, but in order to get real data from reports we have to export and download and work with them in Excel. Not terrible, but a little clunky. For example, on the Quote reports the date sort is only by "created date", so at a glance we cannot see which or how many were sent, won, or archived within a particular time period.

Entering Expenses to jobs does not sync with QB.

The ease of use and the customer service. The Jobber team is top notch. I love the ability to transition from quote, to job, to invoice in seconds. It makes my day so much easier and makes AR such a simple task.

Cons

I honestly like it all. If there's anything I want I just request it and I end up seeing that feature appear later down the line. They are great.

Cons

Does not have certain features that we requested, but makes up for it in another ways. The development team seems to be proactive so I¿m guessing they will be added eventually.

Ease of use. Keeps clients and jobs in order.

Pros

The software is extremely user friendly. I use the program with an iPad primarily along with mobile phones. My employees are able to use their mobile phones daily to see the scheduling for the days work. We also keep the iPad alongside in the truck throughout the day as we are able to use it to check people's accounts throughout the day and create new clients. The main reason for purchasing the software was for the ease of billing. Prior to Jobber I would spend roughly 5-6 hours writing bills by hand and mailing them. This now cuts my billing time down to less than an hour. With the click of a button I can have all my bills printed and ready to send.

Cons

Only complaint I have at this point is when billing. If bills you are a couple days past the end of the month on bills, and have already checked a couple of days worth of mowing from the next month off, when you generate your bills it wants to add the next months visit also. You then have to go in manually and deselect the visits from the month.

Jobber is easy to use and look service calls up for everyone

Pros

How easy it is to use and look things up. It gives you a good overview of your work for the month. Jobber is also easy to reschedule service calls in.

Cons

I don't like that instead of the techs names I have the initials of the techs. I don't know if this is just a setting of not.

Also, the customer service has been great, knowledgeable, and fast.

Cons

I would like to see the ability to search for SKU numbers on Jobber rather than the specific part name.

It has taken my time spent to barely operate and cut it in half and now I am highly organised. I wouldn't be without it now.

Pros

Scheduling, employee application, billing, jobber payments. Those are the most important to me. I also love the fact that it syncs to QuickBooks Online.

Cons

Only three things I don't like.
1.You can't have a client e-sign a quote to form a contract.
2. You can't record a partial payment or take payment in two forms (last I checked but they are always improving)
3. When inputting client information, I wish there was a fillable phone number description option ie: caretaker's cell, or wife's work #, or strata president's # etc. Instead, you can only pick from the few options like: work, home, mobile

One stop shop! Much less paperwork!

Pros

Modern, easy to use, adjustable to personal needs, easy to overview and can manage several different tasks at one.

Cons

I wish it would encrypt notes made in customers files. Because they aren't, they can be lost, deleted or edited and so true past records could be lost or tampered with.

After one week it is hard to say what we will benefit from this, but scheduling has improved dramatically.

Pros

Platform, easy to use, great support, integration with QuickBooks Online, awesome customer service and is very reasonable in price.

Cons

Some of the settings are difficult to find, need more color options for the calendar and the app could be a little more user friendly.

software is very easy to use has the right ideas schedule is very easy to add and move jobs and the app for the drivers works great and email customers and notifications works very good.

Cons

when i schedule customers for 6 months to a year and when their time is about to expired the system never tells you or remains you of that customer is going to get off your recruiting i switching cause of this i pay money and this is an option that they should consider putting.

I like this software simply because it makes staying organized and delegating task fairly simple. The interface is moderately user friendly and for the most part is responsive.

Cons

I biggest complaint is that there was very little start up Help, such as tutorials and initially getting ahold of customer service was a bit of a hassle. I also had a little trouble with multiple users which also was a bit of a turn off however the product as a whole is fairly decent.
