Jobber Software


 

Founded in 2011, Jobber is a cloud-based field service and landscaping solution designed for small and midsize businesses. The software offers scheduling, invoicing, a client database, quotes and other tasks.

The scheduling module allows users to update jobs in real-time, including information on progress and completion. Setting up a single job or a recurring contract is easy, and multiple employees can be assigned to the same job. Jobber offers drag-and-drop functionality, so users can move appointments around.

Invoices are sent out automatically via email and follow-ups are built in. Jobber includes flexible invoicing options to best fit users' existing processes. Jobber partners with many popular electronic payment apps, such as Stripe and Paypal.

Jobber’s customer relationship management (CRM) module tracks contact information, and users can create custom fields, tags, attach files or phones and more. It links multiple properties under an account. All of this is connected back to the billing and work history.

Users in the field can create quotes on any smartphone or tablet and automatically forward them to clients. These can be rated and sorted by active opportunity.

We've been using Jobber for our business for about a year now. I love how easy it is to use, and the amazing customer service that comes with it. They are a message away! Easy as an Iphone to use and implement. Very simple layout. Syncs fairly seemlessly. Easy to get employees set up (except every time I had to call them to resend the email for employees - it never generated). Map feature, timer are great for use by staff.

Can't download all notes and details for each customer easily. No main database access. Text features limited and another additional cost. Field workers have to be given FULL "editable" access to be able to put a payment in the system. Field app has been simplified to the point of useless. No real CRM. Can't make changes to set up the way you do things (like having "check" as the default in a payment) which makes several extra clicks here and there which is frustrating on a daily basis.

Recommendations

Watch out for all the costs. Add-ons most companies will need/want make the price go up and up. (Still cheaper than some others but not as robust) If there is something you really want in a product, ask their staff if it is coming in the immediate future. Things take 6-12 months to implement it seems.

The app. Once it was updated, we lost the ability for the crew to see their schedules and to update their time if they messed it up. Also if a job is not scheduled for that day, then they cannot assign their hours to the job on the app.

I'd like to see more automatic uploads of our communications with clients via email and phone in Jobber.

I'd like to see job costing analysis to see if we were profitable on certain types of jobs.

Recommendations

Does not help with job costing, so you'll need something separate from that.

I would like to see the capability to download all previous jobs or basic tasks to a file to save locally.

It's a good program and is easy to use. If you have questions, customer service is there to answer them. You can find a wealth of information available on the program itself. There are numerous things you can customize to make the program like you want it.

The apps are basically worthless. All our technicians log in online through the website because the apps are so limited.

Recommendations

If your technicians have iPads or lap tops this will work great, if they only have smart phones it is not ideal. The small phone screens make it difficult to do any work on.

Its annoying. the fact that I cant write an invoice without creating a "job" which is basically basically creating an invoice before creating an invoice makes me do the work twice. sometimes it doesn't associate the "Job" with the invoice even though it was part of creating it. its stressful.

good luck marking invoices paid if they are under the same company name. you'll have to inspect each invoice because the list of pending payments wont show the address of the work site that you need to mark paid. instead you need to have the invoice number jobber gave you even if the company you billed doesn't show it on the checks.

The invoice it creates is very picky about changes in the settings. it wouldn't let me leave a blank space so I had to insert a period instead. otherwise the page wont refresh.

Don't use the built in calendar to assist you with your due jobs. you have better luck using hotmails calendar. if you do you'll get really confused about which jobs you've created invoices for and which ones you haven't.

Recommendations

make sure the program supports "service address" instead of shipping address. when I searched for an invoicing program i had to call a few of them to ask this question.

It is hard to collect specific data spreadsheets based on the selected options. Often we want a simple spreadsheet which gives us averages to know if we are bidding our jobs right based on the time but are unable to get it.

Always be honest. They can't fix the problems or come up with solutions if you don't tell them what is wrong.

I don't like the fact that it is exclusively cloud-based. There needs to be a desktop version that stores all my data on my device in conjunction with syncing to the cloud. This way, if I have no reception or WiFi is down, I can still work. Evernote does this very well, so I wish the developers would follow suit.

Recommendations

Give it a spin. Don't assume that an industry-specific software package is always a best fit. I spent 10x more on industry-specific software that was frustrating and ultimately a huge waste of time. Jobber allowed me to get started with no upfront fees, and it was customizable to my industry.

We have a cleaning company Hire a Housewife in New Zealand. For over a year we struggled organising staff and clients ect. We tried every app on the market to make our job easier but not one of them seemed to work when your logging multiple jobs. Tried jobber haven't looked back, has cut my time down considerably and now I can focus on growing our business because staff know what they are doing from week to week now. I can add and delete jobs easy and assign them to staff easy and notify staff they have a job at the click of a button. It also links with Xero. If i had a problem with set up at the start they were quick to respond .

Overall I am happy with Jobber. There are a couple things I would like to see added to the mobile piece and to the contact area but can work around them for now. The service people are good and helpful. Training is good and starts you out on the right step.

Pros

Ease of use, quick to surf around and enter data. The calendar is pretty good and the mobile has almost everything you need.

Cons

Multi-location and email needs to be more versatile. The mobile app could use some data entry ability that is limited only to the computer.

Advice to Others

Although the price is a bit high, the quality is good and so makes it a good value.

Since using Jobber we have been able to keep better track of all our garden maintenance clients and their visits, as well as our landscape installations. The scheduling is much easier and being able to do bulk invoicing at the end of the month is an absolute pleasure. I would recommend Jobber as a wonderful tool that one simply cannot afford not to have in ones business.

My company an exterior maintenance company where we seal and repair asphalt, interlock, flagstone and concrete. We are the biggest name in our field and with that comes a strong demand for organization. Jobber has allowed us to exceed our productivity goals which increases our customer satisfaction and ultimately our bottom line.

With jobber we are able to create client (and potential client) accounts seamlessly. We have our call center email us an excel sheet of our call log that we have configured specifically for jobber's database import. We can sometimes see up to 100 to 300 calls in a day in our peak season and with this feature we can import all those callers/clients into jobber with the click of a single button. We do this so when the person calls back to book our services their accounts are already in Jobber and all we do is create the orders which takes minutes.

Jobber also creates a daily route for each of our service trucks so all trucks are traveling in the quickly and more time efficient manner. Again, productivity!!!

The day before our client is scheduled for service Jobber automatically emails and texts those clients to remind them they are on schedule and a list of instructions we pre-configure.

In the field, our service reps have jobber on their phones which gives them all the details they need about what the task is they are about to perform. They are able to create notes on the clients "job" and even add photos all of which are instantly available in our office.

After our service agents are finished a job they click "mark complete" and jobber does the rest which includes invoicing our clients and emailing them an invoice and soliciting client feedback etc.

Jobber has allowed me to do the job of 5 people so quickly I am often left with the biggest dilemma Jobber causes.... What golf course can I get an afternoon tee time on a weekday?

Pros

Seamless and productive with small to medium businesses in mind.

Cons

Some minor programming issues. Jobber lacks the ability to "select all" or multiple accounts or service orders at the same time. Being a very high volume company that causes me a lot of grief when I have to close 100 or 200 jobs but have to do it all one by one.

Advice to Others

Take the time to learn the software before implementing it into your company.

We spent 4 or 5 months trying out a number of softwares that were close to what we were looking for, but none had the feature set and flexibility of Jobber. We can't operate without it!

Easy to use, very intuitive, and saves a lot of time and money. I'm an office manager for a small business and I don't think I could keep up with everything (we're growing very fast!) if I didn't have Jobber. Jobber really helps us give a professional and polished experience, without having to hire additional staff to make it possible. I was on a trial period to use that ended. They asked if I wanted an extension and I said yes. Never heard back. Contacted them stating I would like to try a little longer to test the rest of the features and Kim told me I would have to wait until that Tuesday before she will call me.

Pros

Looks good what I tried out.

Cons

Customer service is very poor. Dodged that bullet.

Don't bother. They don't seem to care that we run a business

Jobber could be a fab program, with a lot of bang for your buck except for one very big (for us) flaw. When you schedule a 'job' on the calendar, it allows you to upload photos and write notes specific to that job - which is GREAT. However, when the job is finished, you only have the option to invoice it, leave it as "action required" or - delete it, which removes all the associated pics & notes etc...
A good part of our business is going out to do estimates/quotes - we of course need those on the schedule/calendar, but we can ONLY SCHEDULE AS A JOB - there is no way to schedule quotes. So, we end up scheduling the 'quotes' originally as jobs, then transferring all the data (pics, notes etc...) to the jobber quote form, then deleting the job (which we then have no record of) All in all a HUGE pain - something that - if fixed would make this a truly good, functional program... So, sadly, I have to give it a rather poor review - at least for us and our business needs.
