Allscripts Homecare Software

Allscripts Homecare is a fully integrated home care system, suited for both large and small home care organizations. It can be installed both on-premise and in the cloud.

Allscripts Homecare combines business, clinical and scheduling functionalities for home health, hospice and private duty. The software also provides real-time data exchange with state HIEs, such as Brooklyn Health Information Exchange of New York.

The system allows clinicians to instantly access health care plans, patients demographics, medications and other clinical information as and when required. The scheduling feature enables the scheduling of tasks, resources, clinicians and other personnel for both patient care and service.

Allscripts Homecare can handle both electronic and paper claims for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, third-party payers and self-pay patients. Users can customize billing frequency and cycle.

Value for Money

This software leads to over a 50% attrition rate for a home health care company I contracted with. The model is simple: give away a free version with an almost intentionally poorly designed interface that is completely counterintuitive and goes against the most basic principals of software interface design. Then charge for "tech support" for implementation. Then sell the data sets that are more valuable than the person's time who put them in.

Not having to use it for more than 2 weeks.

The completely counterintuitive interface.
