FasterNotes provides electronic billing, eligibility, payroll, authorization management, scheduling, and HR tools tailored to home health practices. The system helps keep agencies on top of CMS, ACHC, CHAP and Joint Commission regulations and is even a good fit for those new to the home health industry.

FasterNotes takes a “boutique” approach to customer service. Customers are assigned a “Success Team” that works closely with them to make sure agencies meet their goals. This team approach to success goes beyond software integration and into areas like regulation research, best practices and vendor support.

Overall, FasterNotes is applicable to small-to-medium-sized home health and private duty agencies because of its user interface and team approach to an agency’s success. Agencies using FasterNotes will decrease overhead, save time, stay compliant and increase revenue.

Fasternotes has worked out really well for our small family business. The program keeps track of everything for us and we just have to keep up with it which is very easy. It did take me some time to understand how to use the program. I'm not very computer literate so it was hard to get used to a new program after using the same one for 10 years. All in all, I think we are all impressed with the level of organization the program provides.

Pros

Keeps us organized and on top of all our work.

Cons

Was hard to me to use at first. Still have trouble here and there but I understand the basics.

Advice to Others

Will be hard for people who aren't great with computers but the program does keep all of the documents and pending tasks very organized for us to follow up with.

I find it simple to use. Specifically sorting and filtering the pages to generate a list of items that need to be completed. I like being able to sort the patient list to see any OASIS or POC's that need to be completed. Keeps me very organized and on top of all my tasks.

Pros

Sorting pages according to tasks.

Cons

Sorted pages do not save sorted when you leave the page so I have to re-sort the data every time I leave the page.

Advice to Others

Great organization for lists with sorting abilities. Saves time in that aspect. you don't have to print reports so get the information.

I take care of all the intake and authorization tracking for the agency and the authorization page saves me so much time. I can easily track and manage the reporting process from within the program. No need for the excel spreadsheets and the billing team can easily check the approved authorization information. So nice to see something like this included in a home health management software.

Approved authorization information doesn't print on field staff schedules.

When we signed up to Fasternotes, it was difficult for us to use for a while. We had trouble getting started with the program but we now really enjoy the supplied features. After getting used to the way the program worked, we were able to use the pages like To Do List and Authorizations page to keep ourselves organized.

I'm a field nurse and the documentation is really easy for me to complete. Very simple and I love that I can import templates into the teaching sections instead of typing everything out or copying and pasting into the fields. Simple check box questions for most pages. Easy to sign and submit. If I did something wrong and need to fix, the QA at the agency can change the status to correction request so I can see that in my to do list. Very easy.

I have a great experience with FasterNotes. We started using software 6 months ago and it works much better for us than the other software we use before. We had a problem with tracking order and nurse documents before but in FasterNotes, we have a tracking feature that helps us. Very useful and not a lot of work from office staff to keep up with these.

Fasternotes is a great home health tool because it keeps us very organized in the office and the processes are based on real live home health processes. We weren't sure what that meant in the training/demos but after using the program for a while, the order in which things are done in the program follow the exact processes of how things are done in home health. It feels very intuitive and you can naturally go to the next step of something without jumping around the program.

Pros

Very clean look, not cluttered and overwhelming.

Cons

Internal messaging is something we would like to see created for the software.

Advice to Others

Very different from other software vendors. Doesn't take a long time to get used to using. Really natural progressions for most processes in the program.

Fasternotes has been very useful for us in the office because it keeps track of everything for us. We would usually manually keep track of things like orders sent, authorizations, and unfinished documentation but we are able to easily keep track of everything in the program. Has increased our efficiency in the office.

We are very happy with FasterNotes because of all of the features that keep us organized. The To Do List is great for our office and we've gotten excellent reviews from our field staff as well in regards to this feature. All of the tracking features (orders, authorizations, billing, etc.) keep us organized in office and save us a lot of time. I had a really hard time getting used to a new program and finally broke down and called customer service. I got through to someone right away and they were extremely helpful and patient. They took the time to do a remote support session with me and walk me through the whole process of adding visits and documents. It was very helpful to be guided and helped me understand the program. Fasternotes has included an authorization tracking page that keeps track of all of the authorization requests we've sent and received. Very easy to use and see exactly what has not been done. This concept applies to most of the pages as well. This is set up as workable lists so we no longer have a need for reports. Easy for us to use and track everything.

For a software that has all of the standard features and additional features included, we got a great price! Our office is very happy with the organizational features in the program and it works really well for us. Also very easy to see claims that need to be billed as they are automatically generated when they are ready.

It took few days to get used to how the program worked but now it's very easy for me to use. Very simple processes so I can get my work done quickly and efficiently. I really like that the notes will prefill with the previous note's information so I have a reference point from my previous visit. Waiting on the mobile application so I can have the patient sign on my phone. Other than that, very easy to use and understand.

1. This product initially was difficult to use, the nursing documentation was complicated requiring a visit to be initiated before a nurse could document. Too many steps involved. 2.The pages could not be saved without totally leaving the page and having to start over. 3. The new oasis never was functioning properly and the POC could not be populated automatically. 3. There was no system set up to determine if visits were missed or out of frequency that was useful for final billing. 4. Most recently the system kept throwing the user out stating page was not available and the staff was unable to continue working.5. Often when filling out an entire oasis the user was kicked out and all data was lost. 6. The med list was small and few meds were listed, meds could not be entered for a certain time frame if this fell out of the cert period. For ex... could not enter an antibiotic for 10 days with a stop date if this fell into next cert period. Multiple complaints from staff/frustration over lost time and effort.

The product had a nice clean look.

When we started using Fasternotes, we had some setup issues. We contacted Fasternotes everyday for a week to make sure we got everything sorted out. Our support team were beyond helpful with getting us moving on the software. They used remote connections so they could guide us through processes. It was extremely helpful for them to spend this time with us. No we're fully functioning and independent on the software.

I've used many other home health programs in the past and none have a simple intake process like Fasternotes. It actually prompts you onto the next step of the intake process. I never have to leave patient list to admit a patient. A simple pleasure, but one that I have not experienced with other programs. The program is packed with extremely simple processes to complete tasks. It's very easy to see anything that has not been done as you can filter all of the pages to make a working report instead of having to generate a PDF or excel to find out what you need to do. Very happy with the ease of use.

Pros

Easy to use, workable reports/lists, automated HR, automated staffing.

Cons

No push notifications for staffing, only email.

Advice to Others

Fasternotes is a very simple software to use for all of our office processes. We really like the prompted intake process, to do list, and order tracking. Our biller is very fond of the simple EDI downloads for all of our insurances. The program is very transparent so we can see exactly what needs to be done next. The patient list outlines all of our major milestones throughout the episode and that is very easy to filter and sort to narrow down tasks that are still incomplete.

Pros

Very happy with the features provided and the easy organization of all of our completed, pending, and incomplete tasks.

Cons

There is no offline version that our field staff would really benefit from.

Advice to Others

The program is designed in a very simple and organized manner. It really allows you to see tasks that need to be completed without having to do a lot of searching. I haven't found a need to generate reports like we used to. All of the pages in the program are workable lists that you can sort and filter.

Honestly, we signed up with Fasternotes because of our tight budget. The price range fit within our budget and the we were surprised with how many features come along with it. After the implementation training with a rep, we were able to start using the software right away. It is user friendly and easy for our DON to use to QA notes.

I am the intake coordinator and Fasternotes really helps me stay organized and match our patients up with staff very quickly. The authorization tracking and automation makes it easy to follow up on frequency approvals with insurance companies and case managers. Great visual references for our field staff to see exactly when an authorization period expires and how many visits they have approved.
