FasterNotes provides electronic billing, eligibility, payroll, authorization management, scheduling, and HR tools tailored to home health practices. The system helps keep agencies on top of CMS, ACHC, CHAP and Joint Commission regulations and is even a good fit for those new to the home health industry.

FasterNotes takes a “boutique” approach to customer service. Customers are assigned a “Success Team” that works closely with them to make sure agencies meet their goals. This team approach to success goes beyond software integration and into areas like regulation research, best practices and vendor support.

Overall, FasterNotes is applicable to small-to-medium-sized home health and private duty agencies because of its user interface and team approach to an agency’s success. Agencies using FasterNotes will decrease overhead, save time, stay compliant and increase revenue.

When we started using Fasternotes, we had some setup issues. We contacted Fasternotes everyday for a week to make sure we got everything sorted out. Our support team were beyond helpful with getting us moving on the software. They used remote connections so they could guide us through processes. It was extremely helpful for them to spend this time with us. No we're fully functioning and independent on the software.

I've used many other home health programs in the past and none have a simple intake process like Fasternotes. It actually prompts you onto the next step of the intake process. I never have to leave patient list to admit a patient. A simple pleasure, but one that I have not experienced with other programs. The program is packed with extremely simple processes to complete tasks. It's very easy to see anything that has not been done as you can filter all of the pages to make a working report instead of having to generate a PDF or excel to find out what you need to do. Very happy with the ease of use.

Pros

Easy to use, workable reports/lists, automated HR, automated staffing.

Cons

No push notifications for staffing, only email.

Advice to Others

The simplicity of the program saves a lot of time you would otherwise waste by having to print reports and search for incomplete tasks.

Fasternotes is a very simple software to use for all of our office processes. We really like the prompted intake process, to do list, and order tracking. Our biller is very fond of the simple EDI downloads for all of our insurances. The program is very transparent so we can see exactly what needs to be done next. The patient list outlines all of our major milestones throughout the episode and that is very easy to filter and sort to narrow down tasks that are still incomplete.

Pros

Very happy with the features provided and the easy organization of all of our completed, pending, and incomplete tasks.

Cons

There is no offline version that our field staff would really benefit from.

Advice to Others

The program is designed in a very simple and organized manner. It really allows you to see tasks that need to be completed without having to do a lot of searching. I haven't found a need to generate reports like we used to. All of the pages in the program are workable lists that you can sort and filter.

Honestly, we signed up with Fasternotes because of our tight budget. The price range fit within our budget and the we were surprised with how many features come along with it. After the implementation training with a rep, we were able to start using the software right away. It is user friendly and easy for our DON to use to QA notes.

I am the intake coordinator and Fasternotes really helps me stay organized and match our patients up with staff very quickly. The authorization tracking and automation makes it easy to follow up on frequency approvals with insurance companies and case managers. Great visual references for our field staff to see exactly when an authorization period expires and how many visits they have approved.

Our company signed up to Fasternotes a year ago and it took us some time to move everything over and sever ties with our old software. We had a survey last week and Fasternotes was extremely helpful during this time. They supplied us with the reports we needed and even helped us restore documents we thought we had lost. We passed our survey and are very thankful for the help provided from the support staff at Fasternotes.

Pros

Great support staff and JCAHO really liked the documentation sets provided from the software. It was very easy for us to print off anything they needed to see.

Cons

Our field staff are getting ready to use the software in the field since the survey has passed and we would like e-route sheets.

Do Your Research Before Getting This SW

This sw is rudimentary at best. It has limited features when compared to other products and it is evident that the developer's knowledge of CMS requirements are very limited. A good example is trying to figure out what information to provide them for facility identification, we had to call another sw provider because Fasternotes tech support didn't know what information we should provide them.
The sw has a way of hanging up or becoming unresponsive with continued use even in a very strong internet environment. This makes doing an OASIS a nightmare.
Regarding tech support, there appears to be only one individual who does this job and there are days when they have meetings so if you are in a bind and need someone you have to wait until they are done with their meetings.
Also please note that in the contract, there is a limit to the number of technical support calls you can make, otherwise they will want you to start paying for additional tech support.
You are unable to document notes at the point of service with this sw as it can only be accessed via the internet so clinicians will have to the notes on paper and then transfer to the sw which is really double duty.
Many of our clinicians note that the sw is not initiative and the features are extremely limited.

Advice to Others

Create a list of all your clinical and administrative needs and then make sure at the demo, it is demonstrated that the sw can meet these needs. Also beware at the demo, it is a sales event, so they will show you what they know will get your attention. Please research if they have technical support capabilities within our hours of operations. In fact, call to get an idea of their capabilities before signing up.
Combine reviews with what you hear in the industry, it is always good to ask around to see what sw are more popular.

By using Fasternotes, we have become exponentially more efficient in office by being able to easily and quickly view the status of pending documents and everything that needs to be completed. Our field staff are submitting documentation faster and documentation has become more clinically consistent.

Great feature set that is provided. Also, you can see changes implemented every week. We've provided suggestions to our support team and we've seen those changes and added features to the program within a week or two. Started using Fasternotes for my agency and I really like the capabilities of the software. Simple design and easy to do most processes. I really like the new OASIS that they have introduced. I like the OASIS scrub feature. It really helps us stay consistent throughout or documentation.

The order tracking page saves me so much time. I used to spend most of my day managing orders going in and out. I can send all of my orders by email or print all of my orders and they print with a cover sheet for each doctor. It saves me so much time! I can also easily download individual PDF order packages for the physicians and E-Fax very quickly. I only spend about an hour all day on order management.

Recommendations
