FasterNotes provides electronic billing, eligibility, payroll, authorization management, scheduling, and HR tools tailored to home health practices. The system helps keep agencies on top of CMS, ACHC, CHAP and Joint Commission regulations and is even a good fit for those new to the home health industry.

FasterNotes takes a “boutique” approach to customer service. Customers are assigned a “Success Team” that works closely with them to make sure agencies meet their goals. This team approach to success goes beyond software integration and into areas like regulation research, best practices and vendor support.

Overall, FasterNotes is applicable to small-to-medium-sized home health and private duty agencies because of its user interface and team approach to an agency’s success. Agencies using FasterNotes will decrease overhead, save time, stay compliant and increase revenue.

I QA all documents coming in so the To Do List is very easy for me to use. I can communicate with the field staff if there is something wrong or missing on a note through the document chat. I was a little tough for me to understand the visits and documents connecting as separate pieces. I do also want a chat system outside of documents so I can communicate more general things.

As an agency that always ran with the submission of manual paperwork, our field staff has been tentative about switching to an online format of charting. Some of the field staff have embraced it and some have not. Fortunately, both ways of document submission are supported with Fasternotes. We are able to attach paper documentation to logged visits and the field staff that submit documentation through the software easily attach their documentation to the visits. We are able to access both types of documentation through the software easily without having to keep paper charts. This capability is a huge convenience for us.

Advice to Others

If you are an agency that is not completely ready to switch over to 100% electronic medical records, this is the best software to use.

After using Fasternotes for 6 months I really appreciate how everything flows together and things like patient status, claims, and authorization records automatically generate in the program. If I create a hold for a patient, I can automatically generate an order and the patient will change to the hold status as soon as I save. It helps because otherwise, I would have to make sure to do all of those steps myself and that can be easily missed or forgotten when dealing with a lot of patients. I did have some trouble getting used to how everything worked but the support staff was so helpful and patient with me.

Pros

Automated processes are extremely helpful and efficient.

Cons

Can be frustrating at the beginning.

Advice to Others

Pay attention to the training and don't be afraid to call support if there is a process you haven't fully understood. They are very helpful and after understanding how the processes work, you can move around the program very easily.

I like all of the features provided by this software. Organizes everything for us and the pages are all workable lists. I don't have to print off many reports to understand when documents haven't been submitted or when billing needs to be done. I can go to each page and check pretty easily. It did take some getting used to as it's nothing like the software we used to have in the office. I like how everything is laid out and it's very easy to see all of the information I need. also really like the dashboard feature because I can access when I want to and it doesn't clog up my screen when I need to use the program to work. Our other software would pop up all of the dashboard items and I would have to close out of them every time I logged in just to be able to see the navigation panels.

Pros

Very organized and simple layouts with all the information I need without printing reports.

Cons

Was had to use at first.

Advice to Others

I definitely recommend. It's a very nicely laid out program.

The software feels very simple because of no clutter. I like that so I don't have to look at too many things at once. I see essentials and that is best for me to work faster. Pages are easy to sort like To Do List. I can sort for all pending item by field staff and know exactly what still need to be done. Very easy for me. Patient list also very easy to see if OASIS or Plan of Care is done. Very nice.

The program provides simple organization for pending tasks such as pending documents, documents to be QAed, orders ready to be sent, and claims ready to be sent. This makes it very easy for the office staff to stay on top of the field staff when they owe documentation. Orders are also very easy to send and receive with the order tracking page.

Cons

Had trouble sending my claims the first few times I tried. It wasn't very clear how to complete the process.

Fasternotes has worked out really well for our small family business. The program keeps track of everything for us and we just have to keep up with it which is very easy. It did take me some time to understand how to use the program. I'm not very computer literate so it was hard to get used to a new program after using the same one for 10 years. All in all, I think we are all impressed with the level of organization the program provides.

Keeps us organized and on top of all our work.

Was hard to me to use at first. Still have trouble here and there but I understand the basics.

Advice to Others

Will be hard for people who aren't great with computers but the program does keep all of the documents and pending tasks very organized for us to follow up with.

I am really impressed with the layout, functionality, and performance of Fasternotes. I really liked the software from the first demo because it was so different from all of the other software companies I demoed. First, think I noticed was a lack of clutter. The pages display everything you need to see for a quick look and don't overwhelm you. Very simple sorting in the patient list, claims page, orders, etc. makes it extremely easy to be efficient. You don't spend a lot of time searching for anything. Everything is right in front of you. The training was easy and helpful and I was able to easily get started afterward.

Pros

Easy processes and very simple and self-explanatory movement around the software. NOT cluttered!

Cons

I would have given a score of 10 out of 10 if Fasternotes had an internal messaging system. It doesn't cause that big of an issue, but it would be just that more convenient to be able to send out a message to field staff within the program.

Advice to Others

Definitely, see a demo. You will see how different Fasternotes is from the leading software companies out there. Definitely worth the time to take a look. This program works the best for us and how we want to use a home health management software.

I was personally really impressed with the level of support/training we've received from the Fasternotes support staff. They were very attentive to our needs every step of the way. We had a few training sessions which got everyone comfortable with the program. We were also helped with migrating our data from our old software even though our old software wasn't able to generate an appropriate file with our data. Very, very helpful and extremely knowledgeable about home health care. Very happy with the software so far as well as the exceptional support team!

Advice to Others

Knowledgeable and very attentive support staff. I would recommend for this reason because dealing with the support staff of other software companies is awful.

Took us a good amount of time to get set up and get our data entered. Afterward, the tracking pages (to do list, orders, authorizations) really helped us stay organized and get into the swing of things. The QA process is very efficient and our field staff like that setup as well. Very easy to track/send/receive orders. All around, very organized pages throughout.

Love the simplicity of the navigation in Fasternotes. Makes it very easy for us sort lists and get our work done. Clear processes for everything and the training was very thorough. Every detail can be managed in the settings making it super easy for our field staff to complete their visits and documentation. We complete our MD order management in minutes and this used to take half the day to manage.

I find it simple to use. Specifically sorting and filtering the pages to generate a list of items that need to be completed. I like being able to sort the patient list to see any OASIS or POC's that need to be completed. Keeps me very organized and on top of all my tasks.

Pros

Sorting pages according to tasks.

Cons

Sorted pages do not save sorted when you leave the page so I have to re-sort the data every time I leave the page.

Advice to Others

I'm really impressed with the clean look of the software and the very organized lists. Not cluttered and I can easily sort lists to find the information I need to see. Very simple to use and very straightforward processes. It's not overwhelming to look at and the To Do List is a huge help for me. I can see everything pending without having to do a lot of research inside of charts which usually requires a lot of navigation. Navigation is kept to a minimum and I can get everything done efficiently.

Advice to Others

If you are looking for a software that gets straight to the point, this is the one. Very organized and very easy to navigate.

We signed up for Fasternotes because of how different it is from other options. It did take us a little time to get used to but, the office staff is really liking the features provided. Specifically, the workable list pages are great like the To Do List, Patient List, and Order tracking page. They are able to filter and sort for specific information they need to know and they don't have to generate a report which is great. Personally, I like being able to log in and go to the To Do List or Billing pages and see everything pending so I can follow up with my office staff.

I take care of all the intake and authorization tracking for the agency and the authorization page saves me so much time. I can easily track and manage the reporting process from within the program. No need for the excel spreadsheets and the billing team can easily check the approved authorization information. So nice to see something like this included in a home health management software.

Approved authorization information doesn't print on field staff schedules.

When we signed up to Fasternotes, it was difficult for us to use for a while. We had trouble getting started with the program but we now really enjoy the supplied features. I'm a field nurse and the documentation is really easy for me to complete. Very simple and I love that I can import templates into the teaching sections instead of typing everything out or copying and pasting into the fields. Simple check box questions for most pages. Easy to sign and submit. If I did something wrong and need to fix, the QA at the agency can change the status to correction request so I can see that in my to do list. Very easy.

I have a great experience with FasterNotes. We started using software 6 months ago and it works much better for us than the other software we use before. We had a problem with tracking order and nurse documents before but in FasterNotes, we have a tracking feature that helps us. Very useful and not a lot of work from office staff to keep up with these.

Fasternotes is a great home health tool because it keeps us very organized in the office and the processes are based on real live home health processes. We weren't sure what that meant in the training/demos but after using the program for a while, the order in which things are done in the program follow the exact processes of how things are done in home health. It feels very intuitive and you can naturally go to the next step of something without jumping around the program.

Pros

Very clean look, not cluttered and overwhelming.

Cons

Internal messaging is something we would like to see created for the software.

Advice to Others

Very different from other software vendors. Doesn't take a long time to get used to using. Really natural progressions for most processes in the program.

Fasternotes has been very useful for us in the office because it keeps track of everything for us. We would usually manually keep track of things like orders sent, authorizations, and unfinished documentation but we are able to easily keep track of everything in the program. Has increased our efficiency in the office.
