FasterNotes provides electronic billing, eligibility, payroll, authorization management, scheduling, and HR tools tailored to home health practices. The system helps keep agencies on top of CMS, ACHC, CHAP and Joint Commission regulations and is even a good fit for those new to the home health industry.

FasterNotes takes a “boutique” approach to customer service. Customers are assigned a “Success Team” that works closely with them to make sure agencies meet their goals. This team approach to success goes beyond software integration and into areas like regulation research, best practices and vendor support.

Very helpful support staff especially for users that don't have an easy time using computers.

Pros

I am a field nurse and the agency I work for uses Fasternotes. I am not familiar with newer computer programs and it takes me a lot of practice to understand how to use new technology. I had a hard time understanding how to document my notes and was finding myself getting frustrated. So I called the support line and they did a whole training with just me and logged into my computer and walked me through each step. They were very patient and helpful. I had to called back a few times, but now I understand how I am supposed to do it. Brittany spent a lot of time helping me and was very patient. Not a lot of customer service is like that anymore and I really appreciate her taking the time to help me understand at my own pace.

Cons

Took me time to understand the program and how it works. It was very slow to get going and I was behind in my documenting for some time. I am caught up now thanks to the support help from Fasternotes, but it was frustrating for me the first few weeks.

Pros

The trackable pages are easily the best feature of Fasternotes. So easy for us to track our orders and documents by using the order tracking page or the to do list. We started using the authorizations page and Fasternotes automatically creates tracking records for us. All we have to do is mark when we've completed the authorization steps. Very easy and very user friendly for all of our office staff. Our field staff also like that the program will automatically attach the required documentation when they add their visits making it really easy for them to know which documents to complete.

Cons

No offline feature for the field staff when they're in the patient's home. Other than that, the program has been really great for the agency's organization.

Pros

Fasternotes is very helpful to our agency because it keeps track of EVERYTHING. We would normally track authorizations in one spreadsheet, payroll visit/documentation completion in another, and credentials in a completely separate program because out previous software did not do this for us. With Fasternotes, we got rid of the spreadsheet and the credential tracking program and we are loving it! Very convenient for us to have everything in one place.

Cons

Our field staff would like a better option for completing documentation at the patient's home. Maybe an offline version because some patient's homes don't allow for high speed internet.

Very easy for office staff and clinicians to use the software. The previous software we had was very difficult for the field staff to use. They like fasternotes much more because the program will automatically add the documents they need to complete when they enter their visit details. This makes it very easy for them because they can just go to their To Do List when they need to finish pending work.

Cons

I QA all documents coming in so the To Do List is very easy for me to use. I can communicate with the field staff if there is something wrong or missing on a note through the document chat. I was a little tough for me to understand the visits and documents connecting as separate pieces. I do also want a chat system outside of documents so I can communicate more general things.

I Like the Automated Processes

After using Fasternotes for 6 months I really appreciate how everything flows together and things like patient status, claims, and authorization records automatically generate in the program. If I create a hold for a patient, I can automatically generate an order and the patient will change to the hold status as soon as I save. It helps because otherwise, I would have to make sure to do all of those steps myself and that can be easily missed or forgotten when dealing with a lot of patients. I did have some trouble getting used to how everything worked but the support staff was so helpful and patient with me.

Pros

Automated processes are extremely helpful and efficient.

Cons

Can be frustrating at the beginning.

Advice to Others

Pay attention to the training and don't be afraid to call support if there is a process you haven't fully understood. They are very helpful and after understanding how the processes work, you can move around the program very easily.

Great Features, A Little Tough To Use

I like all of the features provided by this software. Organizes everything for us and the pages are all workable lists. I don't have to print off many reports to understand when documents haven't been submitted or when billing needs to be done. I can go to each page and check pretty easily. It did take some getting used to as it's nothing like the software we used to have in the office. I like how everything is laid out and it's very easy to see all of the information I need. also really like the dashboard feature because I can access when I want to and it doesn't clog up my screen when I need to use the program to work. Our other software would pop up all of the dashboard items and I would have to close out of them every time I logged in just to be able to see the navigation panels.

Pros

Very organized and simple layouts with all the information I need without printing reports.

Cons

Was had to use at first.

Advice to Others

The software feels very simple because of no clutter. I like that so I don't have to look at too many things at once. I see essentials and that is best for me to work faster. Pages are easy to sort like To Do List. I can sort for all pending item by field staff and know exactly what still need to be done. Very easy for me. Patient list also very easy to see if OASIS or Plan of Care is done. Very nice.

It did take me some time to understand how to use the program. I'm not very computer literate so it was hard to get used to a new program after using the same one for 10 years. All in all, I think we are all impressed with the level of organization the program provides.

I am really impressed with the layout, functionality, and performance of Fasternotes. I really liked the software from the first demo because it was so different from all of the other software companies I demoed. First, think I noticed was a lack of clutter. The pages display everything you need to see for a quick look and don't overwhelm you. Very simple sorting in the patient list, claims page, orders, etc. makes it extremely easy to be efficient. You don't spend a lot of time searching for anything. Everything is right in front of you. The training was easy and helpful and I was able to easily get started afterward.

Pros

Easy processes and very simple and self-explanatory movement around the software. NOT cluttered!

Cons

I would have given a score of 10 out of 10 if Fasternotes had an internal messaging system. It doesn't cause that big of an issue, but it would be just that more convenient to be able to send out a message to field staff within the program.

Advice to Others

Definitely, see a demo. You will see how different Fasternotes is from the leading software companies out there. Definitely worth the time to take a look. This program works the best for us and how we want to use a home health management software.

I was personally really impressed with the level of support/training we've received from the Fasternotes support staff. They were very attentive to our needs every step of the way. We had a few training sessions which got everyone comfortable with the program. We were also helped with migrating our data from our old software even though our old software wasn't able to generate an appropriate file with our data. Very, very helpful and extremely knowledgeable about home health care. Very happy with the software so far as well as the exceptional support team!

Afterward, the tracking pages (to do list, orders, authorizations) really helped us stay organized and get into the swing of things. The QA process is very efficient and our field staff like that setup as well. Very easy to track/send/receive orders. All around, very organized pages throughout.

I find it simple to use. Specifically sorting and filtering the pages to generate a list of items that need to be completed. I like being able to sort the patient list to see any OASIS or POC's that need to be completed. Keeps me very organized and on top of all my tasks.

Sorted pages do not save sorted when you leave the page so I have to re-sort the data every time I leave the page.

I'm really impressed with the clean look of the software and the very organized lists. Not cluttered and I can easily sort lists to find the information I need to see. Very simple to use and very straightforward processes. It's not overwhelming to look at and the To Do List is a huge help for me. I can see everything pending without having to do a lot of research inside of charts which usually requires a lot of navigation. Navigation is kept to a minimum and I can get everything done efficiently.

We signed up for Fasternotes because of how different it is from other options. It did take us a little time to get used to but, the office staff is really liking the features provided. Specifically, the workable list pages are great like the To Do List, Patient List, and Order tracking page. They are able to filter and sort for specific information they need to know and they don't have to generate a report which is great. Personally, I like being able to log in and go to the To Do List or Billing pages and see everything pending so I can follow up with my office staff.

I take care of all the intake and authorization tracking for the agency and the authorization page saves me so much time. I can easily track and manage the reporting process from within the program. No need for the excel spreadsheets and the billing team can easily check the approved authorization information. So nice to see something like this included in a home health management software.

I'm a field nurse and the documentation is really easy for me to complete. Very simple and I love that I can import templates into the teaching sections instead of typing everything out or copying and pasting into the fields. Simple check box questions for most pages. Easy to sign and submit. If I did something wrong and need to fix, the QA at the agency can change the status to correction request so I can see that in my to do list. Very easy.

Pros

Fasternotes has been so great for our business. We've improved all of our in office processes and are finally organized and know exactly what's going on at all times.

Pros

The authorizations tracking page is the best thing ever. The program automatically creates authorization records for us so we don't forget about any patient. This has been the easiest tool for us since Illinois has switched to the new Medicare Prior Authorization program. Fasternotes does most of the job for us.

Cons

I really don't have any complaints at this time. The software has worked great for us and the customer support staff is incredible.

Advice to Others

Truly wonderful customer support staff that is actually extremely knowledgable in home health AND knows how to operate the program with extreme proficiency. If I ever have to contact customer support, I have my own support team that I call, I've never been placed on hold and my questions are answered in seconds. The software is a 10.

Speaking as an Accounts Payable rep for a Home Health Agency, FasterNotes make invoicing simple and effective. There are easily traceable accounts, from pending billing to received payments, the financial tab in FasterNotes makes my job just a matter of reading and sorting. Compared to my previous system, this is a breeze
I haven't really used many of the other tabs in this program, so it is possible that there are problems in those, but as far as billing and payment accounts i have nothing glaring that i don't like.
I've never had to evaluate software, like this or otherwise, so I don't really have any recommendations in that area.

This software is easy to use and user friendly. Our staff enjoys using this product, especially compared to our previous system. The evaluations are able to be entered smoothly. The payroll and billing interconnected and work well. The company is friendly and quick to respond with customer support.
Overall This product has worked well so far. I haven't had a problem that their customer service isn't able to address.
Ask around possibly to other agencies in your field and ask them about their experiences with this type of software. As with any software, it is always a good idea to go through the demo and ask a lot of questions.

I like how it is very user friendly. Very easy to navigate. Everything I need is in the system. Me and the people i work with are able to easily communicate information to each other about a patient's chart through the system.
The layout is too boring for my tastes, I'd like more color options.
Get on it now, the sooner the better for your company
Great very responsive, very helpful. Our company has contacted them a few times and have no complaints

I like the to-do list, the organization, the orienteering of the software, and the ability to keep large amounts of information in one place. It is a helpful easy to use software for those of us in the Home Healthcare industry.
Recently, there was a major product update which came with no warning or training on the new features. So, I guess some warning before updates would be helpful.
Make sure it is what you need. Look into all the similar products and see if FasterNotes has what you are looking for.

FasterNotes is super easy to get started on and use. It saves us time on Scheduling, Billing, Charting and Payroll, amongst other areas. The Technical support staff is always available and knowledgeable/helpful. Everyone that has used FasterNotes in our office loves it. The interface is very intuitive, so it takes no time at all for someone new to learn how to use.
I had one or two things I Liked least about this product, but i brought them up to the support staff and they fixed them up already.
Check out all the options, do demos, ask questions. Be sure you are able to work with the people who work for the company.

FasterNotes is easy to use, very user-friendly and well organized. The support staff is great and easy to get a hold of, all in all I have enjoyed using this software.
Talk to the support staff from any company you are thinking about working with. ask a lot of questions. Their support staff has been super friendly and helpful!

FasterNotes simplified and accelerated our day to day needs for billing, staffing and tracking. Even the most old school, least tech-savvy members of our staff were able to understand and use it, even though we still need to show Helen how to open it (just double click on the logo on your desktop, Helen, Haha). Seriously though, this system keeps all of us on the same page, and helps us keep our in-office communication flowing smoothly.
I sometimes wish it had a more colorful background or maybe a built-in screensaver, but that is just a superficial/entertainment personal desire. As far as functionality, our office hasn't really found anything to complain about, i will update my review if i find problems or something buggy later, but so far, so good.
For Home Health providers and companies, this product has the most features, is the easiest to use and provides the user with flexible options and helpful support. Look at similar products, check out their features, pricing and ease of use, we did, and FasterNotes met our every need. Check out the demo, talk to the company if you have any questions, they are helpful and knowledgeable. Compare it to other programs as we did, because it's best to make an informed decision, but we have no regrets about choosing FasterNotes over others.

The most important aspect of my experience with FasterNotes has been with their customer support/service. They have always been available, friendly, helpful and informative. Every time I speak to them about an issue, it seems personal, they know about me, my company and my needs. They have given advice that has improved our functionality, communication and compliance, and it always feels as if they are really invested in our company's needs and helping us continue to make improvements.

Talk to the support/customer service staff/people. With software like this, it is important that you are able to communicate with them and feel like you are being listened to, if you are going to be using this product for a long time, you will probably need to work with these people at some point. If you can't make a connection to the people who make it, what are the odds you will connect/like the product?

Having spent many years in the Home Health field, I had adjusted to the busywork intensive system most offices and companies used. The endless paperwork, stacks of paper, files and cabinets all over the office, these were just the realities of jobs in this field. Our office started using FasterNotes and I was a bit worried, I thought it would be too complex. In reality though, it made almost every part of the job easier. All of the files, records and documents were finally in one place. Scheduling, patient information, billing, payroll, authorizations, they are all one click away. It has made things easier in our office, it is the best organizational system I have ever worked with.
