7shifts is a best-of-breed employee scheduling software system designed specifically for shift workers operating in the restaurant industry. Once employees download the 7shifts app onto their mobile phones, they can view their upcoming shifts, scheduled availability and time off requests from the 7shifts home screen.
If a worker is unexpectedly unable to make it to their assigned shift, the app allows employees to offer their shifts to other workers who are available, who can then bid on that shift. The unavailable employee can then reassign their shift to another worker with a single click.
If an employee’s availability changes, they can make a note within the app, which managers can then view and approve. Workers can even request time off, and managers can view and approve these requests from their own mobile device.
Finally, 7shifts enables social networking via a feature called the "Wall," which allows employees to post messages about upcoming social events or remind colleagues of upcoming work assignments.

7 Shifts has been awesome to use. Everything from scheduling, to shift changes to keeping the staff up to date on upcoming reservations, events and bands playing at the pub, it's all there. There is a lot of very useful features on the app, however it still maintains an efficient level of simplicity at the same time.
I'm so happy that we made the switch in our scheduling routine to using 7Shifts. The amount of time and head-aches I have saved in the few short months we've been using 7Shifts has been incredible.
I would recommend this program to anybody in the industry looking for a simple and easy-to-use method of scheduling that is beneficial to both management and employees. 15 years of doing the schedule the same way, we gave 7Shifts a try a few months ago and will never go back to the way we did things before.
Honestly, they're great. Can't say a bad thing. They're always progressing and making improvements.
There are a few scheduling softwares out there focused on restaurants (HotSchedules/ScheduleFly), but we've found this to be the best in terms of bang for your buck.

It has so many additional functions than other scheduling software that we've tried, and every time I think of a feature that would make it even better, they have taken my feedback and have worked on adding it!
There have been some issues pulling hours for payroll, which is time consuming and frustrating. But they've always been responsive in helping get them sorted out.
Try it! Especially if you have multiple locations. It literally saves you hours!

The problems we have had over the past year with incorrect reporting. Several times, the data was not what it should have been (missing lunch breaks, issues with overtime, etc). This has cost us (on more than one occasion) several hours of payroll-day headaches and frustration while we tried to figure out the problem, which was an issue on 7shifts' end.
I don't have any recommendations for others.
