The user interface is very easy to use. Initial set up was quick and easy (less than 6 weeks). There are many short videos in the help section that are great for administrative users and employees alike. Security roles are easy to design and assign. Limited vendor support is needed.

There is very little reporting from the Applicant Tracking System and point in time reporting is not strong. I do not like the vendors support style. While responses are generally quick, support requests go to a general pool as do any responses you make after that. You may deal with multiple people on one request and have no contact information for that specific person.

Generally, I am a fan of the product but not the support style.

Recommendations

Take a good look at your company and employees needs are. Make a list based on criticality and if and HRIS doesn't meet those needs pass! Also consider what outputs you need. Can the system really do it? Don't trust claims that the software will do it. Verify. Get current customer references and ask them what the system can do! Sales people will tell you anything. Trust users for better feedback.

I do not like that the Servers are located in United States and are subjecting us to a variable cost depending on the dollar. The product could end-up being very expensive. I am also not convinced of the safety of our confidential information.

Recommendations

To be able to have a Canadian version kept in a Canadian location under Canadian laws. In other words there must be a market for business affiliates in Canada.

Great and intuitive user interface. One of the biggest things I look for in any software that I use is intuitiveness. This product comes " ready out of the box" so you won't waste too much time configuring things.

Payroll is a big factor in Human resources. I would have liked to see some payroll functionality.

Recommendations

If you need a software that's easy to use and are budget conscious then I would recommend Bamboo HR. If you need a more in depth all encompassing software Bamboo would not be first on my list.

The implementation process was very easy and it has been an easy transition for our employees. The majority of our employees have never used a web based portal for paperwork. Our new hire packet is done in a much more timely manner and much easier for new hires to fill it out anywhere. Another thing it has helped us with is tracking PTO and employees submitting PTO requests. Lastly, the Reporting function. I love how easy it is and how there are so many ways to sort and customize them.

The only thing I don't like about the software would be the signed documents. I wish I could export all of them instead of having to save each of them individually.

Recommendations

It does all that we need it to from an organizational standpoint. All of our employees' documents are safe and I can access it from any location since it is web-based. I love it!

Very intuitive and easy to customize to suit your needs. Not hard for managers and employees to navigate on their own. Interfaces with other products like RightSignature easily. Really like the easy to build and maintain custom reports and permissions. Support has also been fantastic.

As our headcount grows and the business becomes more complex some of the functions are not as robust as other offerings for mid-market. For instance, place in time reporting, effective dating, and audit features.

Recommendations

Really consider what is nice to have vs required - if you must have place in time reporting, effective dating, and audit features deeply explore the current functionality.

The best feature about this software is having customizable fields everywhere. I have worked with a few other softwares earlier and I would run behind the company to get some additional data fields added into my page but, with Bamboo HR you can create your own customizable fields without any help from your IT or the vendor company.

The only service that BambooHR does not provide is payroll. However there are several apps that integrate with Bamboo which can be downloaded to your company's site along with an open API function which can be used to pull data from your current payroll system once the integration has been established.

Product offering was a little lighter in terms of features as compared to other ATS offerings evaluated. This doesn't mean it isn't right for your organization - it just means it wasn't for ours.

Recommendations

Understand your process and how the ATS will shape it and support it, so that you can truly determine if the product has all of the features that you need.

Since our company started using BambooHR we saved our company time and money due to the efficient processes that Bamboo provides in terms of human resources services. Especially in recruiting new employees, Bamboo has a built-in Applicant Tracking System which allows for Hiring Managers and recruiters to accurately track the status of their candidates as they progress through the different interviewing stages until the offer is made. Once the offer is made the system has on on-boarding platform included which will allow the employee to on-board new hires in a consistent fashion. Through the on-boarding tool new hires will be able to complete a series of tasks on a checklist such as reading the employee handbook and payroll forms. Overall this has been a great addition to our HR team which has helped streamline the overall processes in a more efficient and time saving manner for the whole company. The time that was spent reconciling spreadsheets can now be spent to develop strategic initiatives to improve the overall well-being of the company and its processes.

The only service that BambooHR does not provide is payroll. Recommendations

If you are a company that is losing time due to spreadsheets and out of date processes, this is the software that will change your life. It is especially user friendly which is nice for all your employees who are constantly asking you questions related to their personal information. Now all of your employees will have all of that information available to them at the click of a button. BambooHR also has an intuitive app which can be downloaded for iPhone or android devices.

Assess your companies needs and look for software programs that can provide each element individually as well as collectively so that over time you can add or remove services as your companies needs change.

It is very user friendly with a very nice and clean user interface. I appreciate how easy it is to customize to each client and their particular needs. Even with the ability to be customized, it is still very easy to set up and you have plenty of guidance available on demand.

It can be a little glitchy *sometimes*, but not any more than any other software you use (they all have their quirks). In the end, however, whatever was off always ends up correcting itself.

Recommendations

You get quite a bit for the pricing with BambooHR. One of the most important aspects of an HRIS is having a user-friendly system that is easy for folks to function within, and BambooHR has absolutely taken that into account. A system is only as good as the folks who use it can understand it and function within in.

It's very customizable based on your company's needs. You just have to spend some time identifying what you want out of it. Their customer service team is great with ongoing support as well.

While very customizable, there are certain things that they aren't able to do just yet for T3's needs. While it can be quite the process at times, there are ways around this for us though. One of the things we'd love to see more of with bamboo is more chat/community opportunities (being able to have a "reply" thread on company announcements, etc.).

Recommendations

Think about what all needs your team has beyond the basic features of bamboo (storing employee basic information, payroll and benefits info, etc.). Are there custom fields/data points you want to track outside of what is offered? This can be pretty customizable, but again, there are certain things they aren't able to do at this time. Ask their customer service team questions around all of these things to see what's possible, or if there are ways to work around things.

Recommendations

Make sure your onboarding process is evaluated carefully against BambooHR - they have a lot of functionality, but there were a few things that we had to do outside of the system manually and then upload into the platform.

Implementation was a breeze. Maintenance and employee rollout was seamless. If I do have an issue or question, customer service is fast and complete. I really have utilized the signature requests and converting pdfs into signable docs. Also, like the ability to "link" via their open APIs to other partners (i.e. Small Improvements).

Once implementation is over, the actual hard-coded fields are harder to change. I kind of thought I could continue to make changes to fields, but was not once the implementation phase was over.

Recommendations

Check out the technical partners and if standing up a full suite of systems, use the open APIs for a better end user experience.

You cannot store documents in the main page and links get messy. It says they offer time tracking, but they really don't. They only have time off reporting which is vastly different, especially given the new FLSA changes and greater need for overtime approval process.

The Performance Management was not customizable enough for us, so we had to implement that functionality with another vendor which was disappointing. Would have preferred the one stop shop.

Recommendations

If you have a relatively small HR department but are ready to make the majority of your manual process automated, definitely give BambooHR a look. Our team loves it!
