Ease of use, the User interface is superb, easy to navigate, great to run searches on, the support from the Bullhorn team is always phenomenal. Having been on other software systems in the past -- none compare to the overall experience that you get with Bullhorn.

There is really nothing I can think of. I know that Bullhorn is always investing over $1 Million per month on product development and they take client recommendations seriously for feature requests-- which is awesome!

The platform is great for managing our process, creating efficiency, and making sure we have complete documentation on all aspects of our business which facilitates our highly collaborative team. The core functions and work flows of Bullhorn are solid: opening a job, tracking the job and candidates through to placements, keeping track of company, contact, and candidate information.

The reporting and back office functionalities leave a lot to be desired. It is often difficult to extract the specific data we want from the database and then put new information en masse back into Bullhorn once we have analyzed it. The candidate search also does not work as well as it could (e.g. if you ask for candidates with criterion A AND criterion B, it often returns results that contain only one OR the other criterion). Finally, there is not an efficient way to prevent, identify, or merge duplicate records.

Recommendations

If you are just starting a search/staffing firm or are purchasing an ATS for the first time, you will probably find Bullhorn very easy to use and easy to adapt your processes to. However, if you are considering switching from another platform, I would very carefully analyse your business process to fully understand what you need Bullhorn to do and where it might fall short. If you have very nuanced processes and/or recruiters who are very entrenched in existing processes, it might be difficult to customize Bullhorn to your needs or adapt your processes to Bullhorn's limitations.

Bullhorn is simple to learn. New employees are able to pick up quickly and most tasks are rather easy to complete with this system.

The ability to integrate with our servers and outlook. We seem to always be going back and forth on who is to blame for the error's in utilizing bullhorn. Being unable to download pdf's or it closing out searches.

I think it is always important to make sure the system you pick and work for the reporting and functions you need. Being able to easily customize and integrate with other systems is important to making your job easier.

They are open to any sort of customization no matter how far fetched. They have a strong foundation and are almost ready to rock right out of the box.

I like that both the sales and recruiting team can see what's happening across all jobs/candidates in real time.

I do not like that you cannot search for someone in the system without spelling their name/email/etc perfectly. The search bar should be more intuitive.

I love the parsing tool. We set up a specific mail box where all of our resume goes, which then goes directly into Bullhorm which creates less work for me. I also enjoy that it pre-populates the candidates information for which it grab from the resume.

I like that is very easy to use as well.

I also wish archived and new resumes could be in a separate tab instead of having to sort.

I think Bullhorn is great from recruiters. I like it better then some of the larger organisation that provide a similar software. I found that even without training you can navigate through the system which is excellent.

I think the software would be appropriate for large organizations that have multiple departments with multiple searches taking place throughout the world. The software is overly advanced for a small organization such as ours.

Very complex requiring a lot of training. I do not like the fact that the customer must now enter into a one year contract. If the client decides they want to select another software service they are held captive until the end of the contract period.

Recommendations

I would recommend they research other software companies that offer similar products for a much lower monthly fee without the need to sign an annual contract.

It was easy to navigate through the application and the customer service was accessible and very helpful if I had a questions or got stuck on how to find candidates in the system.

I would recommend that a recruiting firm should definitely demo the product to see if it would fit their company's recruiting needs. I believe that would be surprised at the technology and find it useful.

the connectedness of comments and ease it was to post notes to multiple places. With just one click you are able to post comments to multiple managers, candidates and notes without taking an extra step. This was very slick to keep everyone informed and updated as positions changed and we received candidate feedback from managers.

There customer support team, as I never have to wait long to be able to speak to someone regarding my concerns.

The process of our data migration was a little clunky as it wasn't a enormous amount. However our Account Manager Richard ironed out our problems as soon as he heard of them and rectified all issues.

Recommendations

Working out if the product is going to suite your current processes, that you have a lot of training included for all the team as this will affect how well the system is used - after all a system is only as good as its user, and lastly what there customer support is like as after a bunch of training you will still most likely have a million questions that need answering.

The Bullhorn Gadget - which allows you to take some basic actions right from Gmail without having to log into Bullhorn - you can parse a resume, add a task for a specific candidate or contact, and more
The support team is very responsive. While many of the reps seem new to the company, they are eager, helpful and resourceful. The online help resources are pretty good.
We also liked the resume view and the quick link buttons on each of the pages

For such a sophisticated software package (and one that is on the higher end of the pricing scale) I was surprised to learn that the program doesn't allow you to create any automations or macros (for example - in other programs when you change a candidate status, the system will automatically send an email template response that you created. This saves quite a bit of time and keeps you consistent in your actions).
And speaking of email templates, there are very few mail merge fields within the email templates and the ones that are available relate to a candidates information (i.e. their job title and current company as opposed to the job title and company of the one you are presenting to them).

Recommendations

Be sure to ask about compatibility with your web hosting service. We found out late in the process that Bullhorn's career portal is not supported by Wix.
