The support team and onboarding tools are both fantastic. They've recently added a "goals" feature that we are just starting to use, so that is exciting. Overall, it's a great value for the price.

Pros

Great UI, compared to other HRIS products of similar cost. The internal support team is very responsive and helpful. There is a wide range of tools to choose from: onboarding, PTO, performance reviews, benefit portals, payroll, etc. I've found the onboarding feature very helpful, as new hires can start their HRIS profile, as well as read and agree to all new hire paperwork.

Cons

The API leaves some room for improvement, but I believe they are working to improve it. Also, the benefits portal works well, but the "electronic feed" to the insurance company hasn't worked for us. Well, it works, it just doesn't link accurate information. I believe they are working on that as well. The performance review reminders are not found in an intuitive manner, but the program itself is pretty easy to use once you know where to find things.

namely is simple and easy to use. It's extremely beneficial to have all of your HR documents and information in one place (online). As an employee, you can quickly view how many days of PTO you have accrued, then see which holidays you have off, and then view your past paychecks. Extremely user friendly and efficient software. Wonderfully designed as well.

Pros

Ease of use, having the information all in one screen (with multiple tabs), streamlines HR process, great design.

Cons

Inputting hours is a manual process if you are hourly - a bit time consuming. Seems like this process could be automated somehow.

Overall, Namely is a great HRIS! It's nice to have your employee data, payroll, benefits and potentially your employee files all in one place. The ease of use is great, the UI is wonderful, and our account manager has been great to work with.
However, the only downside we've had this far are implementation issues. The timecard system in Namely is a bit cumbersome (but they are working on a new release) and we did have communication issues during implementation (i.e things not getting done that we were told were being worked on.)

Pros

Ease of use, user experience.

Cons

Doesn't appear to be a lot of integration with HRIS and payroll - but it sounds like it's coming.

Benefit implementation was extremely rocky. We had to begin our open enrollment 1 month later than expected. The benefit team (Brokers) were great! They were in constant communication with us, and assured us that everything would be taken care of.

Well, we ended up losing our projected benefit plan. We then had another plan that was not well off like the one we wanted, but we needed something to give to our employees. This is where the Namely benefits team dropped the ball.

Communication slowly dimished and our benefits in Namely never changed from the original to the present. To make matters worse, one of our Brokers from Namely was arrogant, unqualified, and attitude-prone. She made our relationship with Namely a terrible experience. We no longer wanted to rely on the benefits team for the mere fact that we didn't want to deal with her. Here's the best part about Namely's benefit team (sarcasm) - the unpleasant Broker had a subordinate who went into our dental carrier's website and took away one of our employees benefits! Yes, that's right! She deleted the dental benefits without speaking to us beforehand. That is extremely unprofessional. That employee ended up going to his dental provider and was denied for not having dental insurance.

Advice to Others

Look elsewhere. They look good and are on the cutting edge of technology, but lack the fundamentals to be a great system.

We only used Namely for HRIS, not payroll or benefits, so perhaps my experience would have been different if everything was all tied together. In the end though, because they didn't give you a dedicated HR business partner, and the insurance rates weren't great, we switched to ADP Total Source (a PEO). My experience with Namely was ok.

Pros

The interface looks nice. The fields are customizable, although often you must get your service person to create them for your.

Cons

The customizable fields often require someone on the inside to implement for you.

Advice to Others

I would read more about those who experienced Namely with their benefits and payroll included. Ideally, the system would integrate all things together and make it super easy for employees to login, make the necessary elections or changes etc.

A couple of years ago I sat in my office after getting off the phone with our previous HR software support team. I was angry at the 72 hour turn around time and then it hit me. I don't have to put up with this. I began my journey to find a replacement HR/Payroll platform. I didn't want to be held back by so-called "turn around time" ever again. Demo after demo I battled through all the fluff of the so called superb platforms on the market, then I threw on the brakes. I stumbled on this company called Namely that looked familiar to social media that I frequent. It looked so simple, could this be the one? I signed up for the demo prepared to be disappointed by a flashy sight with no power behind it and awful customer service, but then it happened. I found the ONE. So simple, yet very powerful and the customer service was off the chart (from another planet). We took a leap and implemented Namely's HR and Payroll platform. I dreaded to hear employee feedback and was terrified to reach out to customer support. Employee feedback started to roll in, what? they actually love it and it's easy to use. I never dreamed I would receive so much positive feedback from employees, but I did and still do. Then came the day I had to contact customer support. I was blown away by the quick and courteous support I received. I was in awe. This is exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't believe it. An HR platform that employees love, HR and Payroll managers love to use, and quick and courteous support. Namely will allow us to grow To Infinity and Beyond! We love Namely!

Pros

Employees and Managers love the look, feel and ease of use. The platform is very customize able and the reporting is very powerful. From on-boarding to termination, Namely has what it takes to get the job done. Their open API is a huge plus allowing integration with almost any vendor.

Cons

The calendar could be more powerful and the file storage could use a makeover, but you can't lose with this platform. They are continuously listening to users and making improvements.

Advice to Others

If you are not happy with your current HR/Payroll platform you definitely need to give Namely a look.

Namely has been great for our People Ops team and employee base. We tried out a much larger HRIS that really didn't fit our company's needs. We were able to get Namely up and running pretty quickly and it's been very easy to use for our employees and administrators. It's definitely a great tool for companies looking to upgrade to an entry level HRIS.

The best thing about Namely is their affordable pricing, and the ease of use.
Creating new hire profiles, running reports, and entering time off is super easy. It's a great product for small startups looking for an all inclusive HRIS, benefits tool and payroll solution.
Overall, customer service and implementation team are pretty good and reliable.

Likes Least

Some parts of the tool are not intuitive. Data importing is far more complicated than it should be.
Also, some things like org charts are not in the most intuitive format.

Small complaints, and likely things that will be addressed in late updates.

Recommendations

Think of how you plan to scale. How much will you grow in the next year or two or three. Do you plan to use benefits and payroll, or just performance reviews and HRIS. I would think long term when vetting Namely, and see how this will scale with your company.

I love that Namely is extremely user friendly and has an awesome customer support team. Namely makes it easy for me to store all sensitive employee information as well as employee bios, PTO requests, calendars all in one database. I also like that i'm able to limit visibility on certain documents ensuring that other employees are not able to view the private information that is stores but can still view each others bios that each employee sets up this includes position, team, who they report to and other interesting position related facts.

At this time there is nothing i really dislike about the product. It is easy and simple to use and all of our employees love it. Maybe one suggestion I could make it to have an employee chat section where employees can create chat groups or chat directly to one another.

Recommendations

I would suggest to get a trial of Namely, you'll love how clean and her friendly it is that i'm sure you'll bring it to your company. In addition if you have any questions do not hesitate to message their customer service team, they are awesome and respond very quickly.

Namely, like any start up still some improvements on their product. For example more fields to have an automatic sync with integrations and a few other bugs we have run into. With that, they have always backed up any issue with their customer service and have been able to troubleshoot any problems that have surfaced.

Recommendations

I would recommend you verify that all fields you need to transfer over to namely from another tool will do so during implementation. There are many functions within the tool, take the time to truly learn it all, by doing this, navigating within the system will be easier for you and will give you the opportunity to assist your company.

I've been working with Namley for almost two months and am very impressed with how easy this product is to use. The on-boarding tool is excellent. We also rely on the task list to help our team set everything up for new hires. I also like how easy it is to process payroll. The customer support is very good. I have a rep that works with us on HRIS and payroll and a different rep who helps with the benefits. I can't say enough about how helpful and responsive they both are.

Likes Least

There are a couple of improvements that could make things easier. An example would be to have the ability to enter information for all of the fields on the I9 form would be helpful.

Recommendations

Namely has been great for us. I would recommend Namely for a HRIS/payroll platform. For reference, the company I work at has 180 people in multiple states.

Namely provides a software package that covers the essential needs of any HR department, including HRIS, payroll and benefits administration. HRIS is easy to use and logical from both an administrator and self-service perspective. Payroll is quick to run and has one of the fastest processing times I've seen. Benefits just work. Lots of options to meet your needs from the benefits side with great transparency for employees to understand the total cost of benefits provided to them.

It's important to realize that Namely is a newer entrant to the HR software arena. You will not find the level of complexity and advanced options available through some of the larger legacy systems out there, but there is no software bloat in the Namely system either. The company is continually enhancing their products and provides updates on their software roadmap up to 18 months out, which I have never seen an HR software company do before. This level of transparency really helps to build confidence that this is a company that is open to feedback and acts quickly to ensure they are providing their clients with the best system out there.

Pros

Ease of use and modern platform that is easily recognizable for employees and managers.

Cons

There needs to be more integration between the different modules (HR & Payroll), but this is something that is on their roadmap. I'm already seeing improvements after being in the software for a couple of months.

Advice to Others

Understand that this is newer software and it is essential to voice your feedback. They are very responsive and will let you know upfront if your feedback/request is on their upcoming list of enhancements or not.

My company has a very complex payroll, including full-time, part-time, and variable hour employees. It has been a struggle getting payroll to be efficient, as I don't think the payroll portal was created to accommodate such an intricate, complex payroll set up like my company has. However, the HR portal has been fantastic to use and has helped our employees, located all over the US, feel more engaged with our headquarters and overall company mission. With the integration with TimeClock Plus, I believe the payroll issues will be worked out and the system will provide a highly rated overall experience.

Namely is a great up and coming product. It has most of the key features a standard HRIS system has and working on integrating and updating more features which will hopefully make it a greater product.

It does have a few disconnects that you would otherwise not experience with other HRIS systems, however, hopeful these will be addressed in future roadmaps and upgrades.

Good app so that contact details are at your fingertips - just need to release the Android version as currently only in iOS version.

Very simple to use and has a great UI experience.

Namely has a great user experience from both the employee standpoint, as well as an admin in the system. You can capture as much data as you want and build custom categories which makes data collection robust and easy. The support team is responsive on all matters, despite the time zone differences. Overall a great product and big bang for the buck (with some minor roadmap additions).

Sometimes simple things weren't contemplated early enough in building out an HRIS system (e.g. 3 different direct deposit accounts (some people like auto debit from payrolls; state tax categories)

We have been with Namely for just about a year, and have had a pretty good experience. Their modern take on HR is what hooked us in the beginning, and they have been adding key features along the way. Their customer support is very responsive and knowledgable, yet the integration between HRIS and payroll is still somewhat manual. As with any new company there are some hiccups, but overall we have been pleasantly surprised.

We recently upgraded our HR department to Namely. What a change! The employees are so excited to be able to see exactly where they stand (salary, PTO, benefits, reviews). The management team loves having a place to go to track everything. We are excited about this new direction....we feel we're on the leading edge now!

We implemented Namely HR and Payroll in September 2016. They have great customer support, account managers, and implementation teams. Very helpful and stay on top of to-do lists with weekly updates. The HR side and newsfeed have been a hit for our employees. They LOVE it. It is a great avenue for us to provide our remote locations insight on what our company is doing and a one-stop shop for employee information. The payroll side of things, however, isn't as user-friendly. We have a somewhat complicated payroll, due to the size of our company and multiple divisions, that we have come across some areas of improvement. We continue to work with Namely for system improvements that will maximize our efficiency and accuracy with payroll and benefits process, specifically integrations for time clocks and Cobra providers.

Pros

Namely, newsfeed has really had positive feedback from our employees. Love that we can have documents and HR information all in one place - the employee's profile.

Cons

The payroll side of things is not as easy to use as the HR side. They don't "talk" to each other as they should -- information doesn't roll over from HR to Payroll automatically - there are times when manual adjustments need to be made.

Our company recently had our HR rep change her availability to half time with the possibility that she would no longer be available to us in the near future. While exploring options, Namely became a great way to automate and track many of the things that she used to spend time doing. I have loved using the service so far! If I want to know what our insurance policy covers, Namely stores that information. If I want to change my benefits package in any way, Namely allows me to see the next time I'm eligible to do so and do it all online. This has been such an easy way to manage HR in a workforce that has many individuals away from the office or remote much of the time. It has reduced the amount of paper needed for many of our HR practices as well since most of these documents can be generated, signed, and stored online. Very easy to use and set up and I would recommend it to anyone!

I work for a nonprofit organization with more than 60 employees in over 20 states (we're a remote workforce), and we began using Namely after leaving a different software in the summer of 2016. I struggled to decide between a three and four-star review. For now, I'm going with a three, but I reserve the right to revise upward or downward in future weeks and months.

Our sales and introductory phase with Namely was excellent. We learned a lot about the product and Namely's offerings, and, obviously, our organization was sold. As I've seen noted in some other reviews, there were problems with our implementation. Our payroll was set up incorrectly, even though Namely had payroll registers to model on, and that error resulted in the underpayment of taxes. To Namely's credit, they put a lot of work in to correct the issue and file amendments, but it was disappointing that poor implementation resulted in something like that. We've also had spotty responsiveness and support, but that has improved as the kinks have gotten worked out (which is somewhat backward to what you, as a customer, might want).

Outside of the implementation and responsiveness, we love the platform. I love that we have so much control over payroll (that wasn't the case with other software), and the HRIS side of things is much more sleek, streamlined, and easy to understand.

In summary, I would say our relationship and experience is improving over time, but there's still some damaged trust and suspiciousness after the rocky implementation.

Ad hoc (sometimes it feels like new features or functionality is tacked on); inconsistent (sometimes, the product doesn't work as described)

My company switched to Namely from ADP and the difference is day and night. Not only is Namely faster at responding to my inquiries than our ADP account manager was, but the Namely interface is 100x easier. I cannot say enough great things about Namely.

Namely is very user friendly on both ends of the spectrum, but there are some places where they could still work on, especially with the benefits side of things.

Pros

UI is great! Super easy to use, great looking app and website, love the newsfeed function where employees can keep up with other employees!

Cons

It doesn't work the best with benefit enrollment and our payroll unfortunately

Its a great tool for the money that you spend for it!

Our company uses Namely for multiple facets of HR (onboarding, performance reviews, benefits, payroll), and our experience has been positive overall. Our Namely account rep has been very responsive to our questions and needs. The technology is maturing, and they seem to have a destination in mind. We've had bumps along the way, but Namely works to make things right.

Pros

Easy to access; fairly intuitive

Cons

Inability to format text on performance reviews and wacky output spacing on the performance review report.

I use Namely HR daily for Benefits Administration, Payroll Processing, Onboarding and more. It's extremely useful for me as an administrator and also as a user because of it's user friendly interface and ease of navigation.
