Pros

Good customer service could always get the job done on their end once you called them, but calling in annoying in today's world especially if you needed to run payroll when you were vacationing in a foreign country.

Cons

Required the Flash browser plug-in which meant you couldn't use an iOS products or mobile phones to access and run payroll. Even on a desktop had to stop everything and update flash, restart machine, in order to run payroll. Site was buggy, simply didn't work, function wouldn't pop-up, etc. Would have to call in to have payroll run.

Help save me money on my payroll fees, which is getting a bit much for only 3 employees soon to be only 2. I think I could get others to use Paychex but they freak out when I tell them how much is the payroll fee is.

Pros

Paychex has been great. It was a hard start, just because New Mexico is weird but Paychex and the state finally got it all worked out. All papers are always filled out perfect that our sent to government. Everyone is so nice

Cons

Pricing on payroll keeps going up and up every year. I tried getting my employees monthly to save money but they said they would quit. :( There should be a better invoice charge for less than 5 employees cuz in 2 weeks I will only have 2 employees and will be paying the same for invoice charge. And one other big thing is that for the last 5 payrolls I HAVE TO CALL IN. This is getting frustrating cuz all the specialist says is that is his too busy and paychex is short handed to call ALL clients. REALLY?? I pay and have to remember to call my 3 lonely number in. Because of these 2 major things, I am starting to consider calling ADP to see how much their fees are. I am a small women disabled business. So I need what any money I can. I really love Paychex it is just these 2 major things that might make me switch companies.

This product is a step backward from Preview. The site is not intuitive. It is difficult to navigate and confusing...even Paychex's staff is struggling with it. The data is not correct. We cannot access historical information from Preview even though we are with the same payroll company. Service is awful. Unresponsive, uninformed, unhelpful. I feel that every time I reach out to our 2 reps (yes, 2, not just one) they are out of the office. Actually had our "implementation specialist" tell my payroll manager he didn't have time to help her on our payroll processing day.

We currently use the Paychex Flex system for everything (Payroll, HR, Onboarding, ATS)

Pros

The Onboarding and HR side of things aren't too bad. The forms and templates available for use on the HR side is a nice feature to have.

Cons

Not very easy to customize. System is clunky and not the most user friendly.

As much as I would like to write something positive about this product, it really is hard too. The only positives are the people that are assigned to the account. I like who I work with.
The product is another story. We have timekeeping associated with Paychex Flex and we have an issue with an employee every single day. Often times they cannot get in to clock in, lunch out, lunch in or clock out. Sometimes it's all time punches, sometimes it's one. There are times when the system just won't let you in period. Calling in for assistance, of late, the wait is about 5 minutes, but have been on hold for over 30 minutes. The reports, that's another story, the way it's sorted, it's sometimes hard to figure out where to go to get a report. The one thing that drives me nuts, is creating a report. I don't think you can do an ad hoc report.

Pros

It's easy to use

Cons

You name a problem and I've probably had it with this system. I've had out IT and Paychex IT on the phone, we made the fixes they suggested and the issues reoccurred.

I have been enrolled with and paying for Paychex Flex for months. The customer service is horrible. I have even made attempts to contact a supervisor several times with No return call until I called another supervisor and requested a number for the regional manager. The person who was appointed to me rarely returned my calls and during our last conversation, I explained all the problems I was experiencing and he informed me that he was leaving the position and he would notify the replacement person of my problems, so they can be addressed and corrected. TO THIS DATE, I have heard from no one. I have been enrolled for a few months and still have to call the payroll clerk to submit the hours. This system is only a punch clock for us.....nothing else. Due to their follow-up, the lack their of and all of the problems I am experiencing with the system itself....I would not recommend. Once my schedule slows down, I will be researching other services and terminating Payflex. Sorry to be so direct.....bit it is all TRUE.

Pros

Employees can only clock in at designated areas.

Cons

Horrible customer service.
System does not track location of employee.
Employees have problems clocking in often.

Advice to Others

Do your research and choose another company

Mixed feelings about the product, but good customer support

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Value for Money

Paychex Flex is like the opposite of Zenefits: it's almost impossible to do anything online on the app, so you pretty much run your entire Payroll and Benefits functions through people with email and phone calls.

For example, there's no way to track PTO/sick days -- you just have to make the entry for PTO when you're running payroll. You can't track new hire documents (like I9s or employee handbooks), so you need to do that outside of Paychex. You can't even get a quote for benefits without manually collecting several pieces of information about each employee and emailing that information to your HR account manager, who is separate from your payroll account manager.

I'd say our experience has been mixed and far from smooth, but overall we've been able to run payroll and administer benefits adequately.

Pros

-Good customer support. Their account managers really take a lot of the burden off you when it comes to running payroll and figuring out benefits administration. And whenever something goes wrong, they bend over backward to make it right.
-Competitive rates
-Running wage garnishments is automatic, there are resources for disputing UI claims, and regulatory compliance matters are handled largely by Paychex

Cons

-The Very involved process to get started. We were missing features online that we were supposed to have for weeks or months from pure oversight.
-Running payroll yourself is very complicated using Paychex Flex. So you have to do it via email/phone, which has almost led to our payroll not running on time on several occasions.
-Running reports is sometimes impossible without Paychex's support -- they have to manually run some reports for you.
-You have to track pretty much all HR-related tasks yourself: keeping track of documents, time off, setting up new hires with Paychex (there's no self-serve system online for new employees), etc.

Advice to Others

Get access to a demo account and actually test the products yourself first. Try ADP, Paychex, Heartland, and Zenefits, but try using them yourself before you decide.

I would not recommend paycheck. Paycheck takes very long to load. There are too many tabs/ or links to click on to get to your actual time clock. It often does not work or is down. Leaving many time clock corrections for the manager and sometimes times are overlooked if there are so many employees and there are so many time clock corrections that have to be made due to the system being down.

I've been using Paychex for several years. The quality of service really depends on my payroll specialist, which seems to change every year or so. I have had some great payroll specialists, but sometimes I get someone who is less on top of things. I always find it frustrating to send more than one request before something is taken care of, and especially frustrating if my payroll is not processed on time, which is very rare. Overall I've been happy with the service.

I use Paychex Flex to run payroll for our company, and I also have a personal account with my own pay stubs, 401k, etc. The software makes it very easy to switch back and forth from my company account to personal account, with just one click. When the software is working properly, it is quite simple to use. However, there are many times I've tried to login and have been unable to do so, due to a problem on the site. Some of our newer employees have also had trouble generating new accounts. The customer support team is usually very helpful and quick in solving any problems we encounter, so I am still happy with Paychex overall. Our current Payroll Specialist, in particular, has been wonderful to work with.

My work uses paychex, and from day one I've been less than impressed with several components of their services. We have several websites we need usernames and passwords for to access either the time clock or our pay stubs. This can get confusing and frustrating on a busy day. Both Paychex time clock and the flex app are not very mobile friendly and crash often.

The ongoing issue I've had is with their lack of response or proper set up for contacting them regarding any issues one experiences. I've been locked out of my account for the last six months and have made several attempts to mediate the issue because the phone numbers listed on their 2-step verification are no longer working numbers. When my manager finally reached personnel that could change it, they entered the phone number incorrectly, and I am still locked out since June. If it weren't necessary for me to use them, I don't know who would want to keep them considering they don't mind if you can't access your account.

Avoid them if you like efficiency.

Pros

Nothing at all.

Cons

Customer service, ease of use, reliability is negative.

Advice to Others

Please have someone make your website more mobile friendly, or have a reliable app.
