People-Trak is part of the Canopy Workforce Solutions suite. The system allows users to deploy in the cloud or on-premise; either way, users control their own data and can take it with them if they ever decide to leave.
Canopy's People-Trak solution comes with a free HR database which includes alerts, reporting and 1 GB of storage. From there, users can add applications to fit their business needs, including: payroll, time and attendance, recruiting, applicant tracking, onboarding, performance reviews, benefits administration, training, certificates and licenses, document management, e-signature, online PTO request and employee and manager self service.
People-Trak also offers Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), which companies can use to access the HR database and connect third-party or custom-built applications.
Canopy serves more than than 500 customers across a variety of industries, most of which are between 200–1,000 employees in size. Their implementation staff assists users with the implementation process, and each customer gets a named support representative.

Not a lot to recommend. I have not been happy with this product from the begining.
This product is not very user friendly, complicated to develop custom reports.
Look at ease of reporting and information sharing between departments.

The way that you can customize screens and how friendly they staff is. I was sold after seeing the demo for our sales representative.
Not being able to just import information without having to obtain a password every day. Did not like that essential training was not interactive. Had a lot of technically issues during training.

I love the versatility of the product. There is so much potential for automating tasks such as sending out reminders to supervisors about upcoming due dates for their staff.
So far I have no issues with the software. We are the implementation phase and just starting to run reports. The staff at People-trac are knowledgeable, helpful and responsive.
Evaluate your needs, how user-friendly do you need it to be versus how much do you want to be able to customize to your own needs. There is a balance between super easy to use, and not much ability to customize versus more complicated but more adaptable.

It's a comprehensive HRIS with lots of robust tools to use. It's inexpensive compared to other systems.
It has a clunky user Interface, is not intuitive, and is not cloud-based.
List the pros and cons of each system and really push for examples from the sales reps.

People-Trak is fairly easy to learn and begin using quickly. The vendor is terrific; I had a great experience both with the People-Trak salesperson and with the support and implementation team. I never waited long for a response in request to help. I appreciated the fact that there were different options for training ranging from onsite training, webex/online training one-on-one, or group online training. The training provided is in addition to the support person assigned to help you transfer your HR data into the system and set it up according to how your company structures things like vacation/sick time, PTO, benefits, retirement, etc.
It is difficult to find an area to dislike. I would like to see more step-by-step guides developed for data entry beyond just the basics. General help is available online, as are general tutorials. And as long as you maintain your annual user updates (pay the fee), your access to live support is always available.
Reserve time each week to train on the new system.
