QuickBooks Full Service Payroll Software

QuickBooks Full Service Payroll from Intuit is a web-based payroll system that integrates with the QuickBooks accounting platform. It is designed to help small businesses manage accounting and payroll all in one place.

Users can manage employee profiles to determine such things as pay rate, pay schedule and method of payment. Payroll can then be reviewed and submitted at any time, accompanied by detailed reports showing total payroll cost, pay compared between periods and cost breakdowns between wages and taxes, and between employer and employee. The option to print pay stubs is also available.

Behind the software is Intuit’s team of U.S.-based payroll experts, who can handle payroll setup, tax filing (federal, state and local) and tax payments. Accuracy is guaranteed, so if an issue arises, Intuit will act as representation to the IRS. All of this functionality carries over to the Online Payroll mobile app, which is available on iOS and Android devices.

Keep up the great support staff.

Pros

They take care of all the state and federal taxes. All you have to do is enter a number of hours. Great program at a good price and amazing support staff that readily answer all your questions.

Cons

No complaints as of yet. Perhaps the only thing I would suggest is for them to work on a way to sync up with Tsheets time tracking software.

Value for Money

I echo the sentiments of a previous reviewer, that it's better to skip Intuit all together and pay the same price for a system that can handle more than 50 employees. It's far worse than just a slow experience at 50 employees, it just stops working period. This happens even if you are just processing a check for one person. It makes no sense and seems completely fixable. It seems a poor business decision to be so heavily invested in support staff, rather than just having a system that works. There are just far better options out there.

Pros

Absolutely nothing.

Cons

Severe latency problems.

Advice to Others

Run.

Unreliable for growing companies

Value for Money

This was a good starter payroll for us but we quickly outgrew it. Intuit says they are limited to 50 current and legacy employees and by the time we got to 60 the latency required that I process 5-6 employees at a time on payroll day.

Pros

Customer support is accessible by chat but limited by the software functionality.

Cons

Poor reporting. No ACA information available, while you enter all of your payroll hours, there is no way to calculate FTEs.

Advice to Others

If you are a small business that intends to grow, skip Intuit and go straight to one of the larger solutions. The price is not much different and the support and software solution is far better.

Quickbooks Pro with Enhanced Payroll

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Value for Money

Support absolutely sucks. Have spent hours on hold. Constantly charging my credit card when I purchased QuickBooks Pro with Enhanced Payroll. It is supposed to allow for one employee but then Intuit constantly abuses your credit card. Was supposed to receive an email within 3 days confirming that they once again had taken me off "Automatic Renewal." No email ever showed. Surprise Surprise. Then Intuit locks up your "Enhanced Payroll" until they get your credit card information again and the cycle begins all over again. Just got cut off again after over an hour on hold with "Payroll Support." I suspect that Intuit is hoping that most business owners or A/P people just let the credit card charges slide because they think they are legit.

Pros

Can't think of any right now.

Cons

Credit card abuse, false charges, locks you out of a product you've already paid for. Payroll support with Americanized names that leaves you on hold forever and then cuts you off.

Advice to Others

Find another software

Initially, before they took data away from the end user, I liked everything.

Likes Least

The customer service has become deplorable as of this writing. Never used to be that way. I have been without my payroll data since 1/16, and after 16 separate phone calls, each running through the same steps over and over, the same results. Nothing. Keep being informed that the "engineering team" is on it, but still no resolutions. They promise to call you back later that day, no call. So, I call back the next morning, and have to go through the entire scenario yet again. At this point in time, I'm researching other payroll companies. Intuit keeps sending me emails reminding me about payroll being due, tax forms being due... and I can't access any of the information to file it. Today, 4/19/16, I was told that there was a big software problem, that I wasn't the only one experiencing it... but, it literally took them 16 separate phone calls from me, no return phone calls from them AT ALL, and me finally getting angry and raising cain before they divulged that information. Not at all happy with Intuit right now. Several years ago, they surveyed users as to how to best run payroll. I was very VERY happy with having the data remain with me, backed up with them, and me filing electronically with the information in my computer. They decided to have everything "secured" in their hands. I stated my concern that the potential arrises to having our information trapped if they have any software or hardware issues... "Oh, no sir!! That would never happen!!" .... and now, I have zero access to my accounts and information. And the only response I got today after raising hell, is, "You have to wait and be patient, sir." ... I would have to say be cautious when deciding to use Intuit right now.

Recommendations

Look elsewhere, check pricing. In just a few hours and a few phone calls, I've found some other companies that I have vetted lightly, and the pricing is roughly one quarter what Intuit is charging for what appears to be the same services. Check around first.
