Workable is a standalone applicant tracking system that helps users find and hire the right people. The program replaces email and spreadsheets with a simple way of advertising jobs, receiving applications, filtering them, setting up interviews and making great hires.

Workable is a Web-based system with an intuitive design so users do not need a consultant or hours on the phone to get started. They can get up and running within 15 minutes, and nothing needs to be installed. Since the hiring begins by spreading the word about the position, the program provides advanced job listing tools that publish one submission across a host of the most popular job boards from a single screen.

Once applications start rolling in, Workable allows users to keep track of possible hires and important data. With no data entry required, the system automatically compiles applicants' resumes and social media accounts and presents them in complete applicant profiles, including pictures to help users remember applicants in every stage of the hiring process. Email notifications are also sent whenever users receive new applicants, so users can see where each potential hire falls within the pipeline. From there, the process for browsing, screening and interviewing applicants is streamlined within one cohesive program.

We have been using Workable for over 7 months, and it is been overall a good experience. We have had great value in Workable's offerings, and are now getting comfortable with the use of the system.

Pros

-The # Searching feature, in the search bar.
-The ease of archiving old postings
-The short listing, >1st interview, Moving candidates through workable. This is the best feature, very easy on the eyes and easy to use.

I started with my current company at the beginning of 2016 as a Corporate Recruiter. We never had recruiters before, so there was not ATS. We did a trial with Workable and really like how great it looked and its ease of use. We were able to use it immediately and the support provided was great. It can be customized to the size of openings the company has and the job postings look great. I would recommend this to anyone looking so a simple and easy to use ATS.

Pros

Workable puts our postings on multiple website with one click. It is easy to move candidates to different stages in the hiring process. Interviews can be coordinated and communicated easily in Workable.

Cons

Just wish there was a better way to categorize candidate and candidate look up.

We were looking for an applicant tracking system with an easy user interface and social profile capability. Workable allows us to easily upload all resumes that are emailed to us and track candidates in a way that works for our team. The step-by-step progress of candidates is easy on the eyes and allows everyone on each hiring team to see exactly where each candidate stands. I really like the evaluation capabilities as well. My only hesitations are with the archiving of jobs and the customization of the job posting template. When someone is hired, it doesn't automatically close the position, move it to archive, and email the remaining candidates. This would be a nice feature.

Advice to Others

For the price, I believe this is the best option out there. It is also nice to be month-to-month instead of stuck in a contract. I'd definitely do the free trial of this product to see if it is the best choice for your company.

I think there is room for improvement with regards to the candidate scorecard in terms of recording feedback and comparing it across multiple interviewers.

Workable is a user friendly ATS that does exactly what you need. My company did not have an ATS prior to Workable and now we use the program for all of our hiring needs and we even have all of our managers set up on it for interview purposes. Their customer service is great as well, they are super responsive!

When you post a job it goes to a ton of different job boards, which is great but we all know Indeed tends to take the cake. They let you sponsor jobs further but they only give set amounts. I wish there was an option to sponsor a job further on Indeed for whatever price you wanted.

Recommendations

Websites claim this is more of a basic ATS and although it may be a good program to get your foot in the door, it definitely offers way more than I would of thought!

It is adaptable to just about any internal mail you use. It is simple to use for even a novice. It has good evaluation tools and the ability for hiring managers to write their reviews and ratings of candidates.

Not as functional as I would like. Wish it could do more in the area of syncing with my current email systems and calendars for setting up interviews. Not crazy about it for a large organization but for a small one it will work fine.

Recommendations

Make sure you can use this in conjunction with whatever email system you use whether it is Google or Microsoft and that it can use your calendar to sync schedules etc. Is it adaptable to your email calendar? Can you use it across the company email system.

I like that it aggregates the job posting to different sites with the click of one button. It allows you to create your own template responses. It is easy and keeps you logged in. We absolutely recommend it.

I wish they had entire HRIS with onboarding system. We don't use all the functionality of it because we pay for a system that does all our HR/Benefits/Payroll, etc. and I haven't seen that capability in Workable.

Easy to set up and start posting jobs. The interface is easy to understand and you don't need to waste anytime with user guides or training for that matter. Their support team is very accessible and I rarely "can't" get a hold of them. The price is also a reasonably easy sell to decision makers.

It leaves something to be desired. I have used Jazz in the past and Jazz offers way more candidate focused ./ user focused features that Workable just hasn't done. When you do ask the Support staff they usually don't even had the feature ideas on a product roadmap which is frustrating because with a software purchase you hope they are always going to improve it. It's a low cost option and that becomes obvious when you start using the software.

Recommendations

If cost is your biggest priority, it's a great solution. It was the first ATS my company implemented and they were hardly sold on the idea of an ATS to begin with. But if you can stretch your budget, go with Jazz or something like that. It would be worth the cost.

It's really well organized and very easy to use. I like how it offers the filters for searching candidates and also how it divides our open positions up within our organization.

Recommendations

Our management team just started using workable the past few weeks. I've found it's better suited to stay organized with the high volume of candidates we interview on a daily bases. I like that I can pull up and print the candidates resume directly from the website rather than having to wait on the candidates resume from HR. I also like how I can view other candidates in other Departments whom interviewed for other positions to see if they would be better suited for my division. It allows any manager to be able to log in and print a copy of the candidates resume. I can also upload other documents such as the results of the interview questions I've asked the candidate and how they answered the questions. This website has eliminated our filing cabinets and allowed us to go paperless. I'm happy to have a program such as workable to really streamline our interview process and stay organized.
