E2 by Shoptech Corporation brings all business operations into a single simple solution, from estimating to scheduling, purchasing, shipping and even customer management and accounting, with its easy-to-use solution. Designed specifically for job shops, contract and a variety of make-to-order manufacturers, Shoptech's comprehensive ERP helps job shops run more smoothly, while increasing both productivity and profits.
E2 simplifies estimating, allowing users to create both "quickie quotes" and complex estimates on labor, overhead, material, etc., that can be faxed or emailed with attached drawings or pictures. These quotes can be automatically turned into orders, with no double entry required.
E2 automatically generates shipping labels and packing slips and then tracks shipments online to multiple shipping addresses. Its materials management module controls all components and parts, aligning the company's purchase needs with the entered orders, as well as tracking delivery and finding the best prices.
E2's scheduling module eliminates guesswork, while its contact management module helps shops ensure that everyone stays on the same page, from the shop floor to the end client. It also pulls in all business financials, so shops can manage payroll, accounts payable and receivable and general ledger from a single location, as well as using one of the 200 built-in reports for comprehensive analysis.
All of these features are supported by Shoptech's national network of regional offices and training centers, as well as a 'round-the-clock techncal service center.

We were using Excel and Access Data Base to drive our management system, but were growing and needed a system that could grow with us.
We have been using E2 since 2006 and the implementation took approximately 30 days to fully convert. Our team learned to use E2 fairly quickly and when we did have issues the tech support at E2 was there to coach us through how to solve the problem.
The customer support at E2 is excellent and we always receive the help required in a timely fashion. The company has benefited from E2 in a few different ways. We are able to keep track of quotes, jobs billing and training quickly and efficiently. All of our data is in one place for easy access and it is all interconnected to keep the paper trail easy to follow.
I would like to see E2 function more like Windows in the future, sometimes being able to toggle between screens and to click and drag would be very helpful. I would also like to be able to print the Customer Feedback from the feedback screen.
The system is actually easy to use, but like any new program each user simply just has to get used to using it. Once they do, it is logical and navigates easily. E2 is updated frequently and most often the updates are in response to user suggestions which is a very nice feature.
Customer support, both sales and technical, are responsive, knowledgeable, accurate and pleasant. And the person you first get on the line is generally the person that will solve your problem or answer your question.
We have been happy with our move to E2. The customer service department is always great when ever we need help. They are knowledgeable and responsive. Our move to E2 has helped us become more efficient and accurate.
Before E2 we were using two different types of software and a lot of spreadsheets. Since installing E2 we are down to one piece of software and have greatly reduced the need for additional spreadsheets. This has made us a more efficient company, enabling us to better serve our customers.
The most beneficial thing I have found with E-2 is that you can track information in all screens and how it is all tied together. There is nothing that we have required that E-2 hasn't provided. I am totally impressed with customer service. They are very knowledgeable and able to help with every question in a professional and efficient manner.
On two separate occasions I have thought that I had lost all my data. They stayed with me having me try different steps to correct the problem. After it was all said and done we realized it was a problem with our server. The peace of mind I have is priceless.
We have yet to try to use the scheduling, payroll, or the scanning capabilities. When we are ready to utilize those features I feel confident they will perform with the same reliability.
Steve Hekman has been here on a few occasions in the last few months: very knowledgeable and tactful explaining our questions.
I worked with Janise Rowell on an issue: very personable & got the issue resolved.
Your support staff is your strong suit to Fab Masters.
The software we were using prior to E2 was not something that could easily track the functions and costs on our shop floor. It was basically used for invoicing only. This meant that we had many inefficient paper processes in place for quoting, sales orders, purchasing, inventory, etc., as well as, numerous spreadsheets to track it all.
We purchased E2 in 2005, and are currently at version 7.2.9. The implementation went flawlessly and quickly. This included the conversion of customer, vendor, inventory, chart of accounts, and employee information from our previous software provider's database. We were using E2 within two days of data conversion.
Learning to use E2 was effortless. The most difficult part of the conversion had nothing to do with E2. Our struggle was deciding internally how to restructure our administrative and shop procedures to rid ourselves of the cumbersome paper and spreadsheet processes we had in place. E2 support and training helped us with that struggle, too!
Approximately one year after we put E2 in place, we received a large customer contract to manufacture over one hundred parts for just one of the customer's locations. These parts required many, many different types of materials, and each part was set up on a blanket order with multiple customer defined release dates. To manage this customer's account using paper and spreadsheets would have been extremely difficult, inefficient, and wide open for errors.
Looking back, I don't know how we could have kept up with our business growth without hiring many people to do the tasks required of our pre-E2 system.
Thank you, E2!
We do not do any machine work, which I believe most Shoptech's customers do, but with their help and expertise we were able to adapt the system for our use and have become extremely comfortable using it. I would say it's very user-friendly. After our initial setup we were up and operating within 6 months and haven't looked back. The support from Shoptech's technicians were very courteous and helpful, along with being patient as we tried to explain any problems we encountered.
I highly recommend a visit to a Shoptech customer prior to purchasing. You will leave with no doubt that you made the right decision.
When I started at Forward Tech in 2007 we were using Peachtree software for our accounting system, Excel Spreadsheets for scheduling and quoting and a paper system for purchasing (NO PO’S).
In 2008 we started looking at software systems - my boss is always interested in improvements. That year we added another mill and lathe to the shop and our capacity had increased; handling everything was becoming more difficult. We looked at several systems but E2 just blew them all away. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind – we wanted this system.
Implementation was reasonably easy - we were starting from scratch so we were able to do things exactly the way we wanted. Of course we found out later it wasn’t exactly the way we wanted, but changes were easily made and with experience we are running very smoothly. With time and confidence we have utilized more aspects of the system. At first it was Order Entry-Purchasing- Accounting- then a real push to Time Tracking. We have not implemented scheduling but I see a time in the very near future when we will. Our use of the Quality Module is sporadic – but that is a manpower issue, not a software one.
I cannot say enough about Trisha, our in house rep. During implementation and the year afterward, she was always there to help and in fact still is. She answers emails instantly and I think she might even take some at home because I have received responses late in the evening. Since the addition of Tech View on the website, I can find the answers to some of my questions very quickly without bugging Trisha (I love the info sheets under “Knowledge”). One of the techs is always available; they get back to me quickly and help me fix whatever issue I might have.
How has E2 helped our shop? Since purchasing E2 we have doubled our capacity, hired more machinists, doubled our square footage and tripled our job load. Being able to easily track what is in-house, what is on order, order history, pricing, did we make money, did we lose money, the ability to play with pricing and have an idea of the profitability of the part, the ease of cross-referencing PO’s with invoices – all of these things have made my life so much easier.
As the shop has grown I have been able to keep up- and I think a lot of it is due to E2. I also think that E2 has given us confidence that we are actually making a profit – and with that confidence the knowledge that we can keep growing. We will be adding another Mill this fall.
Have there been difficulties? Of course, there always is with change – but I LOVE this system. If we have experienced resistance, well, that is a part of life. If I have to use a cattle prod on my fellas then I will use a cattle prod, because at the end of the day what I get from E2 is worth it.
Included in our product line are RF assemblies, including phase-matched and time delay and fiber-optic cable assemblies. When the company reached the point where we could not adequately track inventory nor easily quote new assemblies, we decided to install an ERP system. We looked at a number of software packages that could be adapted to our organization but selected E2 due to its comprehensiveness, cost and ease of use. Prior to installing E2 we used a hodgepodge of programs including DBA, Databases and spreadsheets.
We quickly found that we could stop using everything but E2. Our quotes became more complete, which prevented us from leaving out tooling, NRE charges, minimum purchase costs and helped us instantly become repetitive with our quotes. We found that with the use of job costing, using barcoding the the manufacturing area, we could review closed jobs and make quick changes to our estimated labor before quoting the same or similar items in the future.
We now are able to analyze manufacturing processes by each individual operator and can determine what training needs to be done to improve efficiencies. The quality module made ISO-9001 certification much easier to obtain. Almost everything needed to become and stay compliant with ISO requirements are contained and provided inside the E2 program.
Our customer satisfaction and vendor quality are now easy to measure, which helps us to continually improve our business and product. We found that the savings we realized and the ability to see our true costs enabled us to see a two year payback and now everything is just more profit or savings to our customers.
We sent most of our staff and management personnel to get classroom training and have also had a local representative come into our facility for more specialized training and to provide refresher training. This has proven to be very effective and everyone was able immediately to run with the program.
Shoptech has proven to be a very supportive organization. Our employees enjoy the ability to call in and immediately resolve problems or issues they face. Nobody has had an instance where the customer support person could not help, which is uncommon in our industry.
There may be a better software package available for us to use. If it exists, I have not seen it and I would be very skeptical about any other software coming close to providing for us what E2 gives us on a continuous basis. I would highly recommend any job shop type organization to purchase the whole program and not leave out any modules since they all complement each other and make the whole program cost-effective and useful.
E2 was implemented at Delta Gear in 2004 after the company was acquired and moved to our current location in Livonia, MI. In keeping with the company mission to strategically invest in the latest machining technologies, Delta Gear also upgraded the business system to an enterprise-wide solution that could centralize critical processes, provide real-time status, and still be relatively easy to use and maintain. E2 was selected and quickly implemented using the primary modules of estimating, sales, purchasing, shipping, and billing. This model served the company well for about five years. However, as the company grew and customer requirements increased, we recognized that our model needed adjustment and that there were E2 functions available that could help us meet these new demands. Accordingly, in mid-2009 we initiated an improvement project to move us to the next level of E2 and business system effectiveness.
First, an internal E2 ‘champion’ was dedicated to the project with the charge to be a functional leader/liaison between the system, our staff and E2 support resources, which have always been very responsive and helpful. Next, a full evaluation of our Table master data was performed and we discovered that we could significantly increase our performance visibility by improving that data. With that foundation in place, we began to implement unused E2 functions. For example, Document Control became a key tool in our successful migration from ISO 9000 to AS9100. Also, our legacy paper-based Non-Conformance and Corrective Action program is now centralized on E2 and links to the associated items and jobs to which they apply. Employee training records were also migrated to E2 and we are now testing the Work Center and Tooling Maintenance functions.
Even more important has been the improvement recognized by better use of the Advanced Scheduling and Purchasing systems. After tailoring our work-center master data, we can now identify potential bottlenecks and address them before they occur. Purchasing is now using the auto-ordering tools that pull from job requirements defined in bills of materials and orders.
Finally, these efforts have allowed us to effectively use most of the QuickView module to provide real-time performance data as well as to export reports for monthly business metric presentations. These are then logged into Document Control as objective evidence for AS/ISO, or customer surveillance audits.
By embracing the disciplines embedded in E2, we are steadily moving from a ‘reactive’ to a ‘pro-active’ planning approach for our entire enterprise. Our business has recently moved to a larger state-of-the-art facility and we are confident that E2 will be able to handle our growth effectively.
We started using E2 in August 2005 and it has served us quite well ever since. Prior to E2 we did everything manually and there was virtually no history of purchasing, job tracking, etc. as well as many errors and lost information. E2 has made it effortless in terms of managing these things. We use the standard edition 7.2.12 with accounting through QuickBooks and E2 keeps track of everything relating to our business.
Implementing E2 was easy and we were up and running in a couple of days; the hardest part was entering data. We required no outside training and found it easy to use almost immediately. E2's customer support is fabulous. It has always been easy to contact them and the few problems we have had were easily and quickly resolved. Since 2005 we have had no system downtime for more than about an hour and no loss of data whatsoever.
We would recommend E2 to anyone wanting to manage a machine shop or similar business, it has made our lives much easier.
We are currently in the process of implementing the WebView Module to help our customers get more information more efficiently and to reduce the number of phone calls we receive.
E2 is a well-written software solution that is virtually bulletproof. We have never had the software freeze up or cause any other troublesome problems. It even starts right back up with no problem after the server unexpectedly shuts down because of an extended power outage.
Shoptech technical support is great. They will stay on the phone with you until your issue is resolved. Any issues we have had have been minor and usually self-inflicted.
E2 is easy to use and it was easy to teach our employees how to use it. The software updates are very helpful and we really like the drill-down capabilities of the reports now. We also like that we can export reports straight into excel and email directly from E2. We are currently on version 7.2.12 and looking forward to version 8.
I like the inventory function. It has proven most useful with my keyseat cutter product line. The reports are easy to understand and use for your personal information for our company. I really like the inventory reports.
We did have one time when we needed customer service. We received excellent customer service. The representative was polite, prompt and helpful. Our problem was solved in a timely manner.
I also like the job costing feature. Inputting the time cards is easy. It makes reporting on job costing simple.
We use a third party payroll company. I would like to be able to import the paycheck information into E2 without having to type in each individual pay check. I think this would be a time saving feature for our company.
E2 Shop System has helped us grow from a 4-person company to our current 45 employees in a 50,000 square foot facility. Whether its time clock/labor reporting, estimating, purchasing, production scheduling, inventory, job costing, payables, receivables, or general ledger, their system simply works well. The reports and data generated from their software gives every manager the real time information needed to succeed. Their team and product has really helped make AllFab a success.
Before E2 Shop System, we used a company called Caelus, based in the northwest. It handled payroll also and is very detailed in the accounting area. That was acceptable, but it made our company "accounting-driven", instead of "manufacturing-driven"... we make our money in manufacturing, not accounting... We use the 7.2.14 release. I just noticed that .15 has been released and I will install it very soon. We purchased the software in the fall of 2010, and implemented it on the first workday in 2011. Implementation was a ton of work, long hours, and much trouble-shooting and phone calls to the technical help number. I know changing any software is a monumental task, so in my opinion, the implementation went well.
Everyone on the help desk was helpful, and I especially leaned on the accounting team because that is an area I am not familiar with. Most of my team learned the software fairly quickly, but some who are not as computer literate struggled. I had some issues with a few who tried to "force" the software to do things it was not designed, nor capable of doing. That took some time to sort out, but it helped us learn the limits of E2. I still call the support line (although not as frequently), and it seems the first person who answers the phone is sometimes less knowledgeable than I am. Usually, if I have a real problem or question, it will get kicked up to another level.
The benefits we have realized are in the organization and planning of our proprietary equipment. It has much greater flexibility than our previous software. The system is much more open in the estimating area. Our AP and AR persons like the easier processing in this area. Accounting, however, is still a challenge. I think we are still fairly new users, having 15 months under our belt. We have not even touched the scheduling feature, and only two or three of us are using the quote feature (which is great), so we still have more steps to take to fully utilize the software.
We took our time implementing the software and we are continually using more functions and learning new things. We have always received excellent support from our consultant. Even phoning the help desk has been a positive experience. The wait time is reasonable and they have always resolved the issue.
It took approximately one year to fully migrate over to E2 once all the new hardware was set-up. I believe it could have been faster if we had an actual IT person. That being said, I'm not trained in IT, nor had much experience with Windows, but E2 was fairly easy to set up. It does take some getting used to, mostly because people are used to other software and have to make the mental switch, but once you figure out how everything ties in together, it's easy. The tech support staff was fantastic in helping me set up a windows server and they connected me with another customer that had done the same thing, which was extraordinarily helpful.
We still use our Macs, but we LOVE E2 Shop System! My father even prefers the quoting method of E2 to the old custom program! It has allowed us to improve turn-around times on jobs and eliminated the constant bother of trying to figure out where jobs were in process in the shop. It has also improved our billing process; simplifying many tasks. It takes about 5 minutes to run the month end pdf reports for the accountant, vs an entire day of sorting actual paper in the old system. Everything is tied together and searching the system for just about anything is super-easy. I have customers call me all the time to look up information for them that they can't even find in their own systems.
Our shop floor employees love being able to see what job they are clocked in on and eventually they will be able to know what job they should work on next. I haven't had time yet to delve into the wealth of data to analyze and quantify the exact benefit of E2, but just from our books, we can tell a marked increase in revenue, and we now can tell the actual real-time cost of jobs, rather than waiting until the next day's import. We have yet to harness it's full potential, since we are so small and focused on production, but there's only one way to go from here....up!!! Thank you SO MUCH to Janelle, Corey, Melissa, Greg and the rest of the ShopTech team that has helped me over the years. You have no idea how fantastic it is to call tech support and get the same, friendly, English-speaking, and knowledgeable people every time.
Implementation/training for our two users only took a few days. With the Support Technicians at Shoptech the transition was flawless. Some of the modules utilized by both users on a daily basis are: Orders, Shop Control, Cost Analysis, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger. The technical support in any area at Shoptech has been outstanding. We were provided with operating manuals, so not much assistance is necessary. When we have called for guidance the response is superb. If enhancements are required, Shoptech will work with our users to produce a positive, swift result.
We are able to look at, evaluate, and compare over time the entire product flowing through our processes from proposal to customers dock. Inventory reduction was not possible to eliminate, material at the door on the day it is needed, and maintenance scheduling are only a few of the items that have been used in continuous improvement. E-2 Shop System has allowed us to remain cost effective and competitive in today’s market. While making each employee accountable for their own progress and improvement with in the processes they work with.
We sent two employees to the "Basic Training" at the Shop Tech facility in Cincinnati Ohio. The start-up was without pain. The Shop Tech people were all very helpful, in particular our "Inside Consultant". Our Inside Consultant was and is our primary contact for any problems. We are currently using E2 version 7.2.8 with real time floor reporting and the quality module. After the initial start-up our employees learned the E2 system quickly. The E2 system has been of great benefit in getting a handle on our per job cost, our delivery integrity, and our quality. It has streamlined our accounts receivable and accounts payable operations. I am particularly impressed with the way that E2 Shop System ties all aspects of our business together. I can find all information about any order very easily. All and all we continue to be very happy with our E2 Shop System.
In 2007, we began to research various job-shop softwares to remain competitive in the workplace. We looked at several different systems, and found E2 Shoptech software to be the answer. E2’s dual role of job-shop software & accounting interested me, as well as the competitive price. With the help of E2’s technical team, we successfully uploaded my existing data into our new E2 Shoptech system. Office members enrolled in the free, online tutorials and we were up & rolling. Very quick & very easy! We are extremely satisfied with E2’s software quality, ease of use, and great customer service. Kelbros Inc. recommends the E2 Shop System to any business looking for accurate, efficient job-shop control. Thanks E2
In the beginning it was slow going and I only had my computer up and running, but with the help and support of the E2 team things started to flow. By the end of the year the guys in the shop were clocking in and using other features. Most of the features are easy to use and it didn't take long for everyone to get comfortable with the system. After 3 years we are still happy with E2 Shop System. It compiles all of our information in one place and gives me great reports and information to make our shop more efficient. The tracking of material from entry to the shop to finished product has gone smoother and there is much less chance for error.
It integrates with Quickbooks, which is what I've been using for accounting for 10 years; that is a real plus. The support and service has been good and anytime I have a problem the solution is just a phone call away. Thanks to E2 Shop System I have more time to concentrate on other aspects of my business.
Our implementation went extremely smoothly. Doing the necessary prep work ahead of time and having the expertise of our conversion leader made our transition easy. We attended the offered classroom training which was very beneficial when it was time to hit the ground running. Without E2 we would have never been able to handle our new workload and provide our customers with the service they deserve.
I would strongly recommend this system to a company of any size. This software is 5 stars across the board. Our CEO is 77 years old and navigates the system with ease. Customer support knows what they are doing and have always answered my questions.
