Have been using E2 for a little over a year.

Ease-of-use

It's easy to switch back and forth through the software.

I have just began using the system

Ease-of-use

It is pretty much user-friendly. If you have used any type of system before, you should not have any problems. I am taking a couple of the virtual classes, so hopefully after that I will know it all!

Functionality

The system seems to do everything I need. So far I have not had any issues. All of my questions have been answered.

Product Quality

The quality is great. You get what you pay for! The system works well.

Customer Support

I have never had a problem getting help. Everyone has been extremely knowledgeable and able to help me in very little time.

Likes Best

The technical support and sales people have been great. I am still learning, but haven't had any issues so far. I've called for technical support quite a bit while getting everything set up, and they have all been extremely helpful.

I don't like that I have to go through the estimating to enter drawing numbers. I would like to be able to enter this in the order portion. The majority of my customers have drawing numbers, so it would make things a lot easier for me.

The more you use it the easier it gets! I had not used any type of system like this before, but the more I use it the easier it gets.

ShopTech's E2 is a perfect match for a manufacturing firm!

Ease-of-use

It's easy to enter a routing part, move to a formal quote, and then enter an order. You enter information once and generate an email bid to order; it's simple.

Functionality

We are growing between 5% and 25% per year, and the software is keeping up.

Product Quality

We use this system with 13 users and have no big issues. We just want to produce and ship products on time.

Customer Support

My factory support has been fine. The inside sales guy will call and/or email me on regular basis - at least every three months.

Likes Best

The software can grow with our firm. We have been using E2 for over 13 years. Last year, we added the quality module to attain ISO certification. The ShopTech sales people are knowledgeable and help with the software upgrades.

One weakness we have found is the software should have drill down capabilities similar to QuickBooks. We constantly have to enter date fields and generate a report to extract details. Our example is payroll. We use the interface with QuickBooks to import payroll details.

Recommendations

This product will do a fine job if inventory and costing are set up correctly on the front end.

Excellent software!

Ease-of-use

All tabs and/or buttons are self-explanatory, and it's easy to follow where you need to go next by just looking at the arrows on the home screen.

Functionality

It does everything I need it to do, plus things I haven't even asked of it yet.

Product Quality

It's very well-designed and intuitive. I haven't had any issues with the software at all.

Customer Support

The ShopTech staff has bent over backwards to make sure I understand everything completely!

We were using a combination of QuickBooks (for invoicing), Excel (for inventory), and handwritten notes in folders to do our daily tasks. Now, I use E2 for all three of these, and it is a huge time saver! Everything is done in one program that will still integrate with Quickbooks for banking purposes. Any time I've had a question, I've gotten very quick responses with complete explanations from all the staff at ShopTech. I wish we had had access to this software when our company was started!

I haven't found anything yet that I don't like. The only thing I could possibly say is that the software knows more about what I need than I do.

Recommendations

We shopped around and had demos from at least 3 other ERP software vendors. ShopTech and E2 software were by far the most knowledgeable, most user-friendly, and best all around fit for our CNC machine shop!

All the screens are practically identical, which makes it easy to get the flow and feel comfortable with what you're doing.

Don't look any further. E2 has been around for a long time. You don't have to worry about your software not being supported in a few years, like if you went with other software. E2 is really great.

Terrible experience with this system

Ease-of-use

Nothing is easy. You need to spend days setting everything up.

Functionality

We haven't been able to use it as much as we would have liked because setting it up is so horrible.

It may be good if you eventually pay the company extra money to set it up and teach you.

Customer Support

It takes days to get your account manager to return the calls.

It's so complicated, and the support team will charge you to do anything, even as simple as taking away items in a report. You cannot do this and need them to modify it for you. Thus, they will charge you for setting it up.

Recommendations

Get another software system from another company. This one will take you a long time to move around and set up. Also, they will charge you for any adjustment you may need. The system is so tight that small modifications such as items in reports are fixed, and you need to pay extra to modify them.

Great software; E2 does everything we need it to

Ease-of-use

The ease of use is what led us to E2. Whether you are generating a quote, entering a new job in order entry, or sending out a customer invoice, the screens all look the same, and it is done the same way to make internal training very easy.

Functionality

It does everything we need it to. It may not be the fanciest software out there, but we don't need that and there has never been a time when we were disappointed with the software.

Product Quality

We have been happy with how it is designed. It seems to be designed so that a broad range of industries can all use it.

Customer Support

Every time I call, I have my question answered. They are always very friendly and happy to help.

The ease of use is what led us to E2. The onsite class training was very helpful. Customer support has always been very helpful and friendly.

It's rare but there have been reports that I was not able to find. Usually, when I have called support, they have at least been able to find me a workaround.

Recommendations

Make sure it fits your industry, and call the references they give you to make sure it is a good fit.

E2 has been great for our shop

Ease-of-use

Since all of the areas look the same, it is very easy to pick up. We went to the classroom training and did some online training as well.

Functionality

It fits us like a glove. We pretty much use all of the modules. The scheduling whiteboard is very intuitive, and since it is tied into the data collection on the shop floor, we are able to see exactly where each job is on the floor. We've been able to get a lot more jobs through the shop with less people in the office.

Product Quality

No issues here. Quality has been great. Software is stable.

Customer Support

We really haven't had to call much, but when we do, their support people have been able to help us on the first call. They are easy to get in touch with and always willing to help.

Likes Best

E2 was easy to learn and has helped our shop grow over the past four years. It is very intuitive, since all of the areas work the same way. The job costing for the shop floor has allowed us to focus on more profitable jobs. Their support has been fantastic, very helpful, and easy to get in touch with.

We love the product and the service and support that comes with it. I can't really think of any downside.

Recommendations

Be sure to find the software that fits your shop. We've been through two other ERP systems before finding E2. We struggled with the other products since they were designed for other types of manufacturing. E2 has been a perfect fit for us. We are a job shop but still do a fair amount of repeat work.

Would not ever use or buy this again!

Ease-of-use

It is not set up for maximizing AS9100 like we were led to believe. We always have to set up reports on our own or shell out lots of money to pay them to do it.

I have had it for two years, and it still does not meet the expectations that my old ERP system met.

It does not function well at all. It's hard to navigate.

They always have a module or support that they want to sell you.

It's hard to use and hard to navigate customer service. If you need something, all they ask is for more money for more time.

Recommendations

Look at other ERP systems first. My sales rep told me that this system would give me all I was needing in an ERP system, but I haven't found that to be the case. Look hard at any ERP system before you buy! Look at how it uses purchasing, POs, and travelers. See how easy it is to navigate the system. Compare with other systems before you buy!

Best product for the money

Ease-of-use

The menu-based system makes it very easy to follow.

Functionality

The scheduling in a release-based system that changes daily makes it problematic to use the schedule. I'm still hoping they will introduce multiple routing for parts.

Product Quality

We've had very few errors or crashing problems and have had the system for 14 years.

Customer Support

I never have to wait long on the line. They are more than willing to send you documentation to help you out.

Likes Best

It was helpful with writing custom reports and a quick response time.

Likes Least

It's mostly centered around US tax code and accounting practices, but this is understandable considering most of the customers are American.

Recommendations

Purchase and implement as much of the package as possible from the beginning.

Ease-of-use

It's very easy to use. All modules tie in to each other. We had training for all our staff before we began using the software. The training at their facility was very good, as was the training we had here with a consultant. The consultants are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Functionality

This software meets all of our needs. There are little things we would like changed or adjusted, and we have opened some requests for that.

Product Quality

We've had a few weird things happening lately. We've seen some inconsistencies, so we're not sure what's going on. For the most part, the product is very good and stable. It might be our server; we're not sure.

Customer Support

I very rarely give anyone a perfect score, so this is about as good as it gets! When I email support, I wait to hear from people sometimes; it's better to call. Their website is great; I can find a lot of information there. Most tech support people are very knowledgeable; all are very helpful and polite!

Likes Best

The software is very easy to use and understand; the training is great (at their place or with a consultant). The quality module is a big plus to us, being ISO-certified. This allows us to have one system for both! The tech Support and E2's website are big plusses as well.

In the time card entry, you have to enter employee numbers slowly and make sure that employee is selected. If you have run and setup time to split out, you have to manually calculate the numbers. You would not know if you made a mistake there without remembering the time posted before the adjustment. It's not a major issue, either way.

We evaluated three other software companies before choosing E2, and we are still glad of the choice we made!

It could be more intuitive. I would like to be able to link to more data from the Part Inquiry function. I have to jump from one function to another to get all the info available.

Everything we need is there; it's just not always easy to get to everything.

I like the ease of use and would like a fix for the emailing issue.

Customer Support

I recently took over as Office Manager with less experience than my predecessor. They have helped me through a few of my sticking points.

Everything is integrated into one program. Once we purchased the Quality Module, tracking product history and issues became much easier, and our record keeping is much more complete. E2 support has been very polite and helpful.

Getting from one location to another can be a bit cumbersome, but once you become familiar with the software, it's not that much of an issue. There is a matter of emailing documents from E2 that we haven't been able to remedy and that is having to allow each email you send. E2 says it's Microsoft's problem, and Microsoft says it's E2's problem. A fix would be very much appreciated

It is a very comprehensive program. Everything you could need is included.

Beware of their Sales Process

It is okay to get around in, but the numbers are all over the place in the inventory module. There is no one place you can go to look at transactions.

Functionality

It doesn't do well at all.

Product Quality

There are a lot of little issues like how the columns won't stay the size you adjust them to, but it doesn't crash often.

Customer Support

I've never been helped by the first person to answer the phone. I am always made to wait while they consult the "back line," and then most of the time they just tell me it can't be done.

The screens are large and easy to read. It syncs with Quickbooks fairly well.

The product is not designed for a shop like ours and the sales reps misled us.

Recommendations

Be sure to physically visit the references they give you if at all possible. Be sure that this is what you want.

Yes, it's easy to teach others. Many manufacturing employees don't have great computer skills, but they find the system easy to follow.

Quality is good. The IT team found it easy to install and maintain across the network.

The Project Managers are very supportive. Even the high level mangers, like the president, got involved in resolving some business issues the came up during implementation.
