All aspects of E2 are easy to work with. Our floor people can use the data collection with ease and very little training. Our administrative people are able to log in and take off, again with very little training. Very few software systems are as easy as this has been to use.

Functionality

Scheduling, job costing, purchasing, and inventory control make our company tick and E2 handles all of these with ease.

Product Quality

We have had very few technical issues with the product, and the support is fast and effective at helping you with any problems.

Customer Support

The customer service has been great. Even though we have had very few problems, the support group is fast and efficient at solving our issues. We have also had a few modifications written for us that were very affordable and well done.

It has everything basically spelled out for you. You just look for the tab of what you need, and everything pertaining to that subject is under that tab.

Functionality

A lot of our customers prefer to e-mail, and I love the fact that I can email directly from E2 straight to the customer or a vendor.

Product Quality

I think the quality is very good. When we first started looking at manufacturing software, we compared three different companies. E-2 was not the cheapest, but by far not the most expensive.

Customer Support

The support team is very helpful and very patient. I have never had to wait long for a support person to come on the line.

This software has been very user-friendly. When we do have issues, we call and are immediately put through to support to help us resolve these issues.

Maybe the Quality part could be a little more elaborate. Some of the reports I use for my monthly reviews have some limited information and do not allow for me to change the information to fit more of what I'm looking for.

Recommendations

Don't just look at the cost; look at what you will be saving overall. This product has saved us quite a bit of money over the years. It has also been a big lifesaver in our ISO/AS9100 Audits.

E2 is user friendly and easy to implement

This product is very easy to get up and running with very little training. We did attend their classroom training, but we really didn't need anyone to come to our place.

Functionality

It doesn't do 100% of what we were looking for but it gets pretty darn close. We are using all the modules except Quality. We already had a QMS in place.

Product Quality

No issues here. The software is pretty stable, and we haven't had any major hiccups. We have five people banging on it pretty well along with 40 people on the shop floor using data collection. Performance is very fast.

Customer Support

Excellent support. A live person answers the phone, which is very nice these days. The Live Chat on their website is also nice. Sometimes it's just easier to jump online instead of calling.

E2 is very flexible and easy to use. I have implemented many ERP systems over the years, and I had E2 up and running in less than 6 weeks. It is a pretty straightforward product, they do all the little things right. The shop I am currently helping is a mixed mode manufacturer with roughly 60% job shop and 40% repeat work.

E2 does a nice job with the templates for our repeat work so we don't have to re-enter all the routers and BOM's. The information flows nicely from the quote through the order entry process.

My client is very happy with E2 and we would highly recommend it to others.

Not really anything to complain about. The product is easy to get up and running and the support is pretty good. We did run into a couple of minor problems, but their tech support was able to handle rather quickly. It turned out that we had set up some of the tables wrong.

Recommendations

Do your homework and talk to references that are using the products you are evaluating. We talked to a number of shops that were using E2: some that have had it for a number of years and some that got it pretty recently.

Our Experience: When we purchased E2 Shop System 3 years ago, I was not involved in the purchase, and there was not proper research done to make sure this system was the best for our company. We are a small order manufacturer and distributor of doors and windows. There was a high starting cost to purchase the software and we had to invest in an on-site server to host the program.

During implementation, I feel that there was not proper training or support available, and our business inefficiencies dropped to the point of nearly breaking the company. E2 does offer phone support during business hours if you pay the yearly maintenance fee, but there is limited other help information, so we were never able to implement some parts of the system (i.e. the time tracking for each project and scheduling for each workstation). There is not a built-in configurator, so we had to create part numbers and build a bill of materials as well as routing for each of our assemblies. Some of our employees work off-site and cannot access the system or time and attendance as it is server based, resulting in them having to take their time separately. We used QuickBooks for our accounting as the E2 accounting module was not as robust and we also had to purchase a separate CRM (Landslide) for tracking our sales and marketing activities. We have now chosen to switch to a cloud software, allowing us to combine all three of our previous systems and have much more functionality and reporting access.

We are a small manufacturing machine shop. E2 has been a perfect fit for order processing, job travelers and meeting our shipping needs. It was an invaluable tool during our recent auditing to become ISO-certified. The customer service is outstanding. Our company primarily fabricates custom products, as well as having a distribution division. With over 40,000 available products, the sales ordering system is complicated, and E2 is able to handle all of it. The inventory functions work well. The previous accounting system was overly customized and outdated. Even with the leap of several IT generations, E2 was easy to learn. Implementation was non-eventful. The programming staff was especially helpful in producing customized reports. We have had excellent customer support for the basic training in sales order receiving and accounting (we are syncing to QuickBooks).

Before we purchased E-2, we used the sneaker network. Since the implementation of E-2, we are able to see the status of orders without having to run all around the facility. Material purchasing has been streamlined with E-2 along with inventory control of raw material. Finished parts are easier to track with E-2. The real time part cost display has been a great improvement in our part cost analysis. I would highly recommend E-2 software to anyone looking for a new ERP system. E-2 Shop System is very easy to learn and use. Our company has been able to improve the workflow throughout our facility. With E-2, we have also been able to increase the volume of work in our facility.

Our company is a precision CNC machining job shop with ISO9001:2008 certification. We specialize in difficult to machine raw materials and products.

The software we were using prior to E2 was designed by a private individual but was not expandable to cover our needs as our business grew. When we were upgrading our business software, we wanted a product that would provide information necessary to create charts and reports for administrative purposes, shop travelers for production, inventory management, quality control, purchasing, quoting, shipping, and receiving. Also important to us was the ability to link drawings, material certs, and other documents to the various parts that we produce for our customers. We looked at several products but chose the E2 Shop System because it provided all these requirements and was the most user friendly in our opinion. We could also sync it with our QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions software and not have to pay for additional accounting software.

We have been using E2 now for 10 years and have had nothing but a great experience with our E2 software and the support the company has provided us when we needed help, updates, etc. The training provided to our employees was very thorough and was very easy to learn. Our implementation was a very good experience.

We recently completed our ISO9001:2008 certification. When the Stage II auditor called us to arrange for our audit date, one of the questions he asked us was what kind of software we used for the shop. Before I could answer, he asked if it was E2. I told him it was, and he told me that over his 25-year career, he was very familiar with E2 and thought it was one of the best shop system software products available. I agree. It is a product that can be expanded as your business grows. As the owner of a small business for 28 years, I highly recommend the E2 Shop System for your business as well.

Our company designs, markets, and manufactures made-to-order lighting fixtures for high-end interior designers and architects. We implemented the E2 system in 2005, a couple of years after starting the business.

We use E2 software to manage all aspects of our business - including Quoting, CRM, and Accounting in addition to MRP, Time Collection, and Scheduling for manufacturing. As our company has grown, we have been able to utilize more of the functionality and power that the software offers. As our business has matured, E2 has provided a guide path for many of our improvement efforts - development of detailed BOM's and Routers being chief among them - in order to implement the more powerful functions such as Scheduling and MRP.

As a way to sanity check our approaches and clearly understand how we can use E2 software more effectively, we have engaged ShopTech's on-site consultants several times. We find this service to be of great value as the consultants are extremely knowledgeable and help us plan and implement additional functionality.

As with any software package designed to provide broad functionality, some aspects of E2 are stronger than others. E2 excels on the manufacturing side. The Accounting and CRM functions are adequate, but certainly not as elegant or flexible as stand alone options. Generally speaking, it would be extremely beneficial if E2 reporting could be made more flexible and easily customizable. However, even given these limitations, we have found that the value of data integrity and a "one stop shop" interface make E2 a good fit for our company.

We plan to upgrade to v8 in 2014 and look forward to the improved interface and search capability.

Our company handles low quantity tight tolerance machine work. We switched to E2 from our previous system in April 2011 after seeing a demo of what E2 had to offer.

The implementation went fairly well considering that none of us had used E2 before nor did we take any classes. It is important to stay open-minded and work with tech-support to find the best solutions for your company. I highly recommend having someone on your staff that is very computer literate and has past experience with databases and ERP. If you don't have a tech wiz working at your firm, you should take the classes offered.

We use almost every aspect of the software including accounting. My personal favorite is the inventory system. We have all of our new tooling (endmills, drills, inserts, etc.) in cabinets organized by barcode. When a machinist needs a tool, he goes to the cabinet and scans the tool out to the job he is working on. The cost of the tool goes to the job so that we can see what jobs use up our tooling and if we need to adjust our pricing. It also lets me know when I need to reorder the tools automatically. I can just click a button and a PO is generated with all of the tools below our min/max levels. I review the PO and click send and our inventory is replenished.

Customer support has always gone above and beyond to handle our technical issues. Many times, they can log into your system via WebEx and fix the problem while you watch on the screen. They have always handled our requests promptly.

If you want to grow your business, organization and set procedures are key. E2 is our tool of choice for streamlining our manufacturing procedures. We are now working on acquiring our seventh seat.

We are a job shop that produces short run products. The most important sales tool that we have is our ability to turn quotes around quickly and accurately. We currently use a series of Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and Quickbooks to produce our work orders, packing slips, quotations, invoices, etc.

We purchased E2 in 2012 after a series of web preview sessions. We were hoping that E2 could improve this area for us in addition to down stream activities such as job costing and scheduling. The sales team assured us that the software would be a great improvement over our current methods. After investing a lot of time and money into the software, our process is slower and less accurate than before.

The software has many glitches that the E2 tech team does not seam to care about. After discussing with them how displeased we are with the software, they simply said that they do not do refunds no matter what. I would recommend investing more time in researching systems before you pay the hefty price tag for E2.

We evaluated several systems and thought that E2 would suit our business well based on the overview we were given. We knew that there were some short comings in the Quality area over higher priced systems, but were assured that we could work around the issues and that some of the new releases would address some of our concerns.

As with any system you can never be sure until you roll it out and begin truly working with it. We encounter more issues on a daily basis than I could have ever imagined. When you call for tech support and ask a question you tend to get every answer except for the question that you asked.

I am completely disappointed in this software.

We are a small hydraulic company. We needed a better way to inventory and process our stock, as well as needed a streamlined system to expedite our orders and shipments. Using our old software was just too limiting for us and it could not handle many of the needs we were requiring, such as the ability to inventory, so we decided to switch to the E2 Shop System and have never needed to look back. It was very easy for our employees to learn and has worked out great for us so far. We used the customer support quite a bit in the beginning, and it was a nice tool to have when questions came up. The customer service team was quick to answer questions, and were willing to find the answers and get back to us if they did know how to solve a particular issue. We have been using this software for many years now and our business has definitely benefited from the E2 shop system. We will continue to use this system for many years to come.

Roberts Precision Machine, Inc. is a CNC job shop established in 1987. We chose E2 for our shop control system in 2003. E2 is a system that you can scale up as you succeed and grow. After an intensive setup weekend, we were using E2 for shop routing and job quoting. We then integrated material inventory and purchasing history. After a few years, we added E2's barcode scanning hardware and we started tracking jobs in real time on the shop floor; then we added the Advanced Scheduling module to help us correctly load the shop to hit our customer due dates with greater accuracy. We then added the WEBview module, so our customers could see their job history, access quotes and quote history, and track the progress of their jobs as went through our shop. We have recently added the Advanced Quality module, and we are working with the E2 training team to certify our shop to AS9100, REV. C.

At every turn, as we have grown our business, E2 has been a valuable partner, aiding and assisting us in achieving our vision and goals. The team at E2 has worked very hard to help us succeed.

We are a manufacturer specializing in small assemblies. E2 has been a more effective software than our old system. It is very easy to use, and easy to train new people on. My favorite thing about the software is it is easy to make changes on. The customer serivce is great. We have had very few problems and have been using the system for 10+ years.
