One of the coolest aspects that they offer is the ability for me to post my different social media accounts at different times. This saves me a ton of time and then I never forget. I'm able to schedule out far in advance, so if I have a big announcement that I won't be releasing for a few weeks, I can write it, figure out the best time to post, then have it ready to post in the Queue awaiting the day; and I can get that off my mind entirely.
Hootsuite feels a bit dated for me. I've been using it a few years and am very familiar with everything they offer. Maybe it's just because I'm familiar with the platform, but I feel they have the opportunity to really help businesses and people grow their following, beyond what is made available by them. I don't really know what that x-factor may be, but I know it's missing it.
It's a great platform. Give it a try and you won't have to spend a dollar. If you think it's a great fit for you and your needs, then great! If not, then no harm no foul. If you're not very familiar with the whole social media management thing, then you can look at their academy or just general help posts and blog articles. It was great for me as I didn't really know too much about the social media game!

As social media continues to get larger and larger with new players in the market practically every day, you have 2 choices, higher someone to manage your entire social media strategy and spend every hour of the work week posting things - or - get a utility like hootsuite to easily let you share the best you have to offer to every social media medium all at once (or even spread throughout the day as I preferred to do)
They do a great job of making sure everything is easy and straightforward to use. For those who aren't as privy to the digital age, they offer free courses on social media management and a hootsuite certification (a bit useless for me, but I could see how some people would benefit largely from it)
They really offer quite a bit of features so there's isn't much to dislike, but if I were to nitpick Hootsuite, it would be around their website design (User interaction and experience) and the lack of advanced analytics.
While I understand hootsuite was never meant to be an analytics service, there are many other services that offer a little less on the social media management side, and a little more on the analytics. Depending on what you're looking to use Hootsuite for, this could mean nothing to you (if you already have analytics for your posts or if you are just a social media celebrity and you don't plan on marketing products to people)
If you only have 1-3 social media accounts, then Hootsuite may not be for you. Use Hootsuite if you can determine you'll save valuable time by using another service to easily push out updates across your platform. As the number of accounts you have grows, so does the time it takes to manage all of them. This is a great tool to maximize your social media efficiency, but don't think it can do everything!

I love the ability to streamline scheduling and the management of posts across multiple social channels. I have used Hootsuite for several clients and have found the interface simple and easy to use. Social channels are separated and easy to manage and monitor activity. Great having it all in one place!
The Instagram integration isn't THAT great - but optimistic for improvements in the near future! Yes at first the interface can seem a little overwhelming, but after you familiarize yourself with it you will LOVE how much time it saves you from searching across channels.
Consider the types of social channels you or your business use/manage - it's a great tool to stay organized and spend less time scheduling/posting.

Hootsuite offers social media management in a complex way. As a virtual assistant, this software is very helpful in streamlining the social media management for my clients. I love that not only can you schedule items to post, but you can also monitor the activity on your social media accounts as well.
I struggle with feeling overwhelmed when using Hootsuite. With so many offerings, it can be challenging to know how to complete some tasks. It feels too complex sometimes.
I would suggest giving the free version a try for a few weeks to find if Hootsuite is a good fit for your business needs. It is complex, which is good and challenging. Start with some simple posting and scheduling if you are overwhelmed by the options available.

The best thing about Hootsuite is that it does what it was designed to do exceptionally well. Everything else it may or may not do is beside the point. Hootsuite allows you to release to multiple social platforms at once saving you a lot of time and effort. Simple. Effortless to connect your media streams, no APIs to track down no setup, just sign in and approve.
Really, so far what I like least about Hootsuite is some of the wording on the interface that makes it a little less friendly (e.g: "Delete Stream" instead of "Close Stream" - delete seems final and destructive - close much more friendly) Sometimes its the little things.
Ignore the bells and whistles and just look at what it does without effort.

It was very easy to schedule social media posts so that I didn't need to think about it. It also supported every platform (except Instagram) that we were marketing on and was easy to post a custom message to each at the same time.
Maybe we just didn't utilize every feature properly, but I found the tool a bit overcomplicated in the reporting/news feed aspect. We also had some issues posting on certain platforms. We would schedule a post and find awhile later that it never actually posted for whatever reason and we weren't notified that the post did not go out.
Its great for someone who is looking to coordinate all your social media efforts in one place. After using Hootsuite for awhile, we were content but decided to switch to an all in one marketing platform as to simply the number of tools we used.

The best quality of this product is the ability to schedule out messages. You can set up your Facebook, Google +, Twitter (and more) posts a week or more ahead of time so that you do not need to think about it for a while. This will definitely increase your efficiency and decrease the amount of time spent doing social media marketing.
The interface can be confusing for new users. It does take a while to fully understand how to use the platform and what the analytics mean.
Hootsuite charges clients by the number of social media profiles they are connecting and by number of users. With this pricing structure, the monthly cost of an account for an agency can add up very quickly. You'll have to determine whether the benefits of having all social media information in one place outweighs the high cost.
