Value for Money

Hootsuit was good for what it was. I am now using Hearsay which is integrated into my packaged options for my company. I would use Hootsuit if it were an option over Hearsay.

Pros

I like that I can post directly to my facebook profile, and I didn't have the option of only posting to my page

Cons

The price was a little too high for a stand alone products

Advice to Others

Hootsuit is probably the better choice if you want to post to your profile, not your page.

They give me a bunch of features for running my non-profit more effectively and efficiently.
One of the coolest aspects that they offer is the ability for me to post my different social media accounts at different times. This saves me a ton of time and then I never forget. I'm able to schedule out far in advance, so if I have a big announcement that I won't be releasing for a few weeks, I can write it, figure out the best time to post, then have it ready to post in the Queue awaiting the day; and I can get that off my mind entirely.

Likes Least

Hootsuite feels a bit dated for me. I've been using it a few years and am very familiar with everything they offer. Maybe it's just because I'm familiar with the platform, but I feel they have the opportunity to really help businesses and people grow their following, beyond what is made available by them. I don't really know what that x-factor may be, but I know it's missing it.

Recommendations

It's a great platform. Give it a try and you won't have to spend a dollar. If you think it's a great fit for you and your needs, then great! If not, then no harm no foul. If you're not very familiar with the whole social media management thing, then you can look at their academy or just general help posts and blog articles. It was great for me as I didn't really know too much about the social media game!

They offer an endless variety of features on how to better and more time efficiently manage an array of social media accounts.
As social media continues to get larger and larger with new players in the market practically every day, you have 2 choices, higher someone to manage your entire social media strategy and spend every hour of the work week posting things - or - get a utility like hootsuite to easily let you share the best you have to offer to every social media medium all at once (or even spread throughout the day as I preferred to do)

They do a great job of making sure everything is easy and straightforward to use. For those who aren't as privy to the digital age, they offer free courses on social media management and a hootsuite certification (a bit useless for me, but I could see how some people would benefit largely from it)

Likes Least

They really offer quite a bit of features so there's isn't much to dislike, but if I were to nitpick Hootsuite, it would be around their website design (User interaction and experience) and the lack of advanced analytics.
While I understand hootsuite was never meant to be an analytics service, there are many other services that offer a little less on the social media management side, and a little more on the analytics. Depending on what you're looking to use Hootsuite for, this could mean nothing to you (if you already have analytics for your posts or if you are just a social media celebrity and you don't plan on marketing products to people)

Recommendations

If you only have 1-3 social media accounts, then Hootsuite may not be for you. Use Hootsuite if you can determine you'll save valuable time by using another service to easily push out updates across your platform. As the number of accounts you have grows, so does the time it takes to manage all of them. This is a great tool to maximize your social media efficiency, but don't think it can do everything!

I love the ability to streamline scheduling and the management of posts across multiple social channels. I have used Hootsuite for several clients and have found the interface simple and easy to use. Social channels are separated and easy to manage and monitor activity. Great having it all in one place!

Likes Least

The Instagram integration isn't THAT great - but optimistic for improvements in the near future! Yes at first the interface can seem a little overwhelming, but after you familiarize yourself with it you will LOVE how much time it saves you from searching across channels.

Recommendations

Consider the types of social channels you or your business use/manage - it's a great tool to stay organized and spend less time scheduling/posting.

Hootsuite offers social media management in a complex way. As a virtual assistant, this software is very helpful in streamlining the social media management for my clients. I love that not only can you schedule items to post, but you can also monitor the activity on your social media accounts as well.

Likes Least

I struggle with feeling overwhelmed when using Hootsuite. With so many offerings, it can be challenging to know how to complete some tasks. It feels too complex sometimes.

Recommendations

I would suggest giving the free version a try for a few weeks to find if Hootsuite is a good fit for your business needs. It is complex, which is good and challenging. Start with some simple posting and scheduling if you are overwhelmed by the options available.

The best thing about Hootsuite is that it does what it was designed to do exceptionally well. Everything else it may or may not do is beside the point. Hootsuite allows you to release to multiple social platforms at once saving you a lot of time and effort. Simple. Effortless to connect your media streams, no APIs to track down no setup, just sign in and approve.

Likes Least

Really, so far what I like least about Hootsuite is some of the wording on the interface that makes it a little less friendly (e.g: "Delete Stream" instead of "Close Stream" - delete seems final and destructive - close much more friendly) Sometimes its the little things.

Recommendations

Ignore the bells and whistles and just look at what it does without effort.

It was very easy to schedule social media posts so that I didn't need to think about it. It also supported every platform (except Instagram) that we were marketing on and was easy to post a custom message to each at the same time.

Likes Least

Maybe we just didn't utilize every feature properly, but I found the tool a bit overcomplicated in the reporting/news feed aspect. We also had some issues posting on certain platforms. We would schedule a post and find awhile later that it never actually posted for whatever reason and we weren't notified that the post did not go out.

Recommendations

Its great for someone who is looking to coordinate all your social media efforts in one place. After using Hootsuite for awhile, we were content but decided to switch to an all in one marketing platform as to simply the number of tools we used.

A Great Tool for Managing Multiple Social Media Accounts

If you manage multiple social media accounts for a company or multiple companies, Hootsuite makes it easy to stay up to date and organized. Their system integrates with the most popular social media platforms. As an individual you can use Hootsuite with up to three social media integrations for free.

The best quality of this product is the ability to schedule out messages. You can set up your Facebook, Google +, Twitter (and more) posts a week or more ahead of time so that you do not need to think about it for a while. This will definitely increase your efficiency and decrease the amount of time spent doing social media marketing.

Likes Least

The interface can be confusing for new users. It does take a while to fully understand how to use the platform and what the analytics mean.

Recommendations

Hootsuite charges clients by the number of social media profiles they are connecting and by number of users. With this pricing structure, the monthly cost of an account for an agency can add up very quickly. You'll have to determine whether the benefits of having all social media information in one place outweighs the high cost.

It makes planning out social media for the coming month a snap!

Pros

You want Hootsuite to do one thing, manage social media channels. And it kills it at that. You can monitor everything you want from just a few clicks and schedule out as far in advance as you like. And it's all free to boot!

Cons

I wish Hootsuite had more metric reporting. Right now that feature seems lacking in a time when social media is becoming increasingly about data analysis.

I enjoy the program but it really isn't meeting my needs 100%. The layout is a little frustrating and I am still looking for a company that can meet my needs better: scheduling, insight, reporting, and a healthy amount of 'profiles' for low costs.

Pros

Cheaper and easier than a lot of companies out there. They really hit the 'middle' price point. Many companies offer cheaper services and offer very little, and then you have a huge jump to companies that offer everything but are unaffordable for the smaller guy. I offer reporting complimentary right now to my customers, and Hootsuite offers me a nice number of 'profiles' for the money. The interface is a little difficult to get used to, but the reporting is nice.

Cons

The reporting...is great but is gets costly! Unless you are at a certain account level, the reporting isn't priced friendly.

Advice to Others

If you are new to offering reporting or curious about jumping into the reporting and social media scheduling, I think Hootsuite is a great product. I would recommend it to those looking unless you are a larger agency. If you are looking for something affordable, this is a great option.

I have been using Hootsuite for about 2 years now. It is user-friendly and intuitive. You just connect your 3 social media accounts (for the free version you get up to 3), then start scheduling content. You can easily upload a photo, or add a link (which it will shorten for you - very handy). I love that it has both the Streams view, and the Scheduler. The Streams is handy to see side-by-side your past content and current, and the Scheduler allows you to easily see what you have scheduled in a calendar view.
I have never contacted customer support so I can't speak for that, but I can say that every problem I've run into was easily fixed and so I didn't need customer support - that's a plus right there! Occasionally accounts get disconnected and you have to reconnect them, but that is really the only bother I have run into with using hootsuite. It makes scheduling out a month's worth of social media simple and easy.

We use hootsuite to schedule all our clients social media content but it doesn't let you post gif in a friend way, post with photos (not album) and sometimes the copy is all messed up with spaces.

It needs to be upgraded and up to date with the latest things Facebook and instagram is working, like the stories and the simply fact that instagram should post automatically not manually.

Pros

Is the only tool I have found that works great to schedule social media content.

Cons

It feels like outdated.

Advice to Others

I think a rebranding would work to make it more simple and up to date. Also it should be easier to schedule the post and boost it from there.

I appreciate its relatively easy-to-use system of shortening links, attaching images and being able to post on LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. There are occasional disruptions or links that don't automatically attach photos, but in most cases this appears to be an issue with the site being linked to, not Hootsuite. Basic HootSuite has a free version which allows you to schedule and manage three social media platforms. We are able to schedule posts and track responsiveness and engagement for our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts which are our only accounts. If you need a more advanced feature then you may purchase a package. The basic version has a lot of options and it's great for us especially because we are looking still to revamp our social media.

Pros

The free version allows you to manage up to three social platforms which may be all you need. It allows you to schedule posts for all platforms at one time.

Cons

There are other paid plans which are fairly cheap if you have more than three social media platforms. This software is very convenient for you since it's a hassle to be posting among all platforms all the time individually.

Advice to Others

There are great tutorials and online videos. The site is very user friendly and intuitive.
