Salesfusion Software

Designed in 2007 specifically for the B2B marketer, Salesfusion is a complete, web-based marketing system. Salesfusion’s interface was recently redesigned to increase efficiency and adapt to the workflow and needs of the individual user.

Salesfusion offers a fully functional suite of applications including Sales Automation and Customer Service and Support. Its Marketing Automation module, which is available on a standalone basis, is fully equipped with tools for lead scoring and nurturing, budget management, marketing analytics, media planning, and marketing resource management.

What we like best about Salesfusion is that the vast majority of their product enhancements are a direct result of client feedback. They take client satisfaction seriously and, with the MarketingUnlimited Program, they have designed a system that makes marketing automation and demand generation an affordable option for even the small B2B organization. The most recent version of Salesfusion might even be referred to as a “customer-derived” solution. It offers over 750 custom email templates for superior email marketing campaigns and a social media dashboard that tracks your integrated social media publishing. Salesfusion’s clients include high-tech company Canvas Systems and healthcare entities HealthPort and VCPI.

Salesfusion is a great option for mid-sized businesses across many industries seeking a product that can help them nurture long-term relationships from buyer to customer. The software is already built for seamless integration to several popular sales automation systems including Salesforce, SugarCRM and Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

Customer service, service and support is consistent.

The constant updates that seem pointless and have no effect on the major issues with the package - i.e. the events builder, nurture campaign builder, lack of reporting information and landing page / email testing process. Also, the package only works in Firefox.

Recommendations

Get Mail Chimp - Much cheaper product with social media integration, email and landinpage builder (without needing to know HTML/ CSS and spam filter testing).

The most recent updates to the email builder are fantastic for someone like me, that knows what needs to be included and has definite opinions on how it should look, but doesn't know HTML. And the support team is outstanding - quick response and take the time to fully understand the situation around any issue and work until it's addressed to my satisfaction.

I wish the drag and drop email builder would have been available sooner, but understand they took the time to do it right.

A great value for the subscription price, always innovating and improving, and great customer support.

Compared to competitors, Salesfusion offers a good value for the price. Although reporting takes some technical skills and understanding of the system, it give valuable insights into the data and can be utilized in creative ways. Landing pages are easy to create and use, once you get accustomed with the system, and they can be easily customized if you have knowledge of HTML. The Web Forensics piece offers great insight into website visitors and daily traffic.

Likes Least

The new tiered customer services process seems to be a bit of a hassle sometimes, with you having to explain the issue multiple times to the different tiers you're transferred to. However, the support representatives are very patient and kind, and they make you feel like they genuinely want to help get to the bottom of the issue. There seem to be occasional bugs with reporting or alerts, but their customer service team is pretty good about fixing the issues in a timely manner.

Recommendations

Like with any tool, it takes some practice and training before you can dive deeper and explore all the functionalities it has to offer. It seems like their current focus is on making the system more user-friendly and less technical, which is a good thing if you don't have knowledge of HTML and technical thinking (for example, how tables connect to each other in a database, for reports), but hopefully that option won't go away for those who want to have the flexibility to customize.

Sales reps are able to look at email campaign stats.

Likes Least

Consistency is the main issue I have experienced. Certain parts of Salesfusion do not work every time, or if they work, they might be slow. Also, in some ways, Salesfusion is not intuitive. Also, the email coding is inconsistent; the preview shows one thing, but when you actually send a test email, it looks different.

Recommendations

Understand better how reps are able to look at email stats, respond to contacts appropriately, and how it ties into the CRM. Be able to successfully communicate between the marketing dashboard and the CRM to make quality and effective marketing campaigns.

I like the integration with outlook and the lead score. The lead score gives me insight to potential opportunities that I've never had before.

A lot of people get good lead scores because they open all of the emails, but aren't reading them, so they aren't as qualified as their score.

Pricing was better than the competition. At the time we purchased, customer service was superb, and the platform was highly customizable.

Customer service has been a bit of a roller coaster, though we always end up with answers. It's pretty buggy, and if you're not a technical person, you might have trouble with the reporting. Test emails take forever to send. It changes too frequently for my taste, and you keep having to learn where new stuff is.

Recommendations

If you have technical talent on your team, then you are fine to use this product, and your CMO will be happy you are saving them money. But if you are a regular marketing person who just wants something that is easy to use, it's not for you.

Salesfusion has been a fabulous vendor for the past few years. We are a small(er) organization, and we needed something that was versatile and functional enough to meet our needs (CRM integration, sales automation, marketing automation etc.) but at a fraction of the cost of some of the bigger MA providers.

Salesfusion's teams (support and management) are extremely client-oriented. They listen to complaints and requests, and they do their best to accommodate their client's needs, which is all but non-existent in the landscape of marketing and sales automation tools. Working with them has been a pleasure.

Likes Least

My least favorite function of Salesfusion is the WYSIWYG; it's extremely temperamental and buggy, lists sometimes disappear, linking is all but impossible without underlines and terrible default colors, etc. Lots of hardcoding HTML knowledge is absolutely required, which our team didn't have but have had to learn or had to learn to work around.

Recommendations

Unfortunately, the tool is designed with the sales team in mind mostly, and for smaller companies doing very little mass emailing. For our company, it's been a challenge to use the tool due to WYSIWYG challenges, lack of core reporting functionality, and other items.

I really like SalesFusion's interface and their dedication to our success. We have a single point of contact for the (extensive) training and other issues, and it's great. As a company that is trying to mature its marketing automation processes, we really need this kind of hands-on assistance.
Salesfusion is a rapidly growing company, but they maintain their dedication to their customers, which was a key buying criteria for us. I think we haven't even scratched the surface in terms of the functionality available in the tool either, so there's lots to look forward to.

Likes Least

As with any software, there are bugs and some features that don't operate exactly how we want for our business, but those are the tradeoffs you make with any software vendor.

Recommendations

Make sure you understand the goals of your marketing automation program and your ability to execute those. Make the choice based on who you think can best get you where you want to go.

The software itself is super intuitive and more than capable of handling your day-to-day marketing activity. Anything from email, landing pages, SEO/SEM, lead scoring, events, data enrichment, and so much more. Salesfusion is constantly releasing updates to the system that allow for progressive marketing ideas and metrics-driven reporting. The company has a very young and unique approach to helping marketers and companies drive revenue through the use of marketing automation and CRM best practices.

Likes Least

I'd be lying if I said there is nothing wrong with the product. Sometimes, I wish there were buttons in the application that could cut down on the number of areas I need to navigate to in order to accomplish something relatively easy. The email designer badly needs to be updated to accommodate email marketers without heavy HTML knowledge. I'd like to see one content library that bridges the email and landing page functions. All in all, this is a good product!

Recommendations

Look past the minor things you may not like, and think about more important components, like exceptional email deliverability, accurate lead scoring, and progressive marketing rather than reactive marketing.

I think as a Marketing Manager vs a literal graphics person, the tool can be a bit challenging. However, I think it does cover all the pieces and parts of an invite or html you would need. In addition, I appreciate how it dumps into my CRM tool to track leads!

If you are someone who does not normally create invites/HTMLs, it's a great tool, but your training curve will be a bit bigger. If you are someone who creates invites and have a graphics background, this tool rocks!

The support team is excellent. Very responsive, knowledgeable and helpful. The product has evolved a lot over the past several years, and they are continually making improvements. It's relatively easy to get started with and offers a wide and deep range of functionality.

Likes Least

The UI is not always as intuitive as it could be. For example, the HTML editor doesn't give you a great WYSISYG experience and also inserts a lot of unneeded code. (This isn't unique to Salesfusion, however; I've seen this same issue with other web-based systems like this.) It takes a while to really understand all the functionality, which is true of any system with this level of complexity, but it seems like to it could be clicker. Their need to support multiple CRMs is one of the reasons for this. It makes good sense for them from a business perspective, but for users who only use one CRM (and are unlikely to switch), it adds complexity that can be confusing.

Recommendations

For the price, Salesfusion is quite good and well worth evaluating. If having a marketing automation system that can handle multiple CRMs is a requirement, Salesfusion is definitely worth serious consideration. The team is really good - as good as I've seen - and in my experience, the quality of the support team is easily as important as the software itself.
