Medflow EMR Ophthalmology Software

Medflow EMR is a complete electronic medical records (EMR) system designed specifically for eye care. Although ophthalmologists are Medflow’s target market, the program can be used by practices providing both ophthalmology and optometry. The system is available as either a standalone EMR or as a complete EMR and practice management (PM) system to manage billing and patient scheduling. The program is 2011/2012 ONC-ATCB certifiied to allow eligible providers to qualify for ARRA stimulus payments.

Medflow has built-in templates designed specifically for ophthalmology, including retina scans and surgery, cataracts, glaucoma, digital drawings, eye measurements, LASIK procedures, and more. ASC and optical modules are also included in the base package.

The program is suitable for eye care practices of all sizes, ranging from solo practices to large groups with 50 or more doctors. Medflow is installed on-premise and is built on a Microsoft SQL server. The HL7 interface enables the system to integrate with devices and existing practice management systems. The image workflow management module is very straightforward and suitable for image-intensive ophthalmology practices. The integrated patient portal enables patients to complete intake forms online, saving time and eliminating paperwork.

Medflow has been developing ophthalmology-specific EMR software since 1999 and reports to have had no failed implementations since then. Meflow has more than 1,500 ophthalmologists using its software and is recognized as a leader in ophthalmology software. Due to its popularity and focus on eye care, Medflow is a vendor we feel comfortable recommending to eye care practices of all sizes.
