A better structured and planned implementation would have made the transition to the new system smoother and easier. They have an implementation approach that was not made clear in the beginning and as a result expectations were not managed well and led to a level of frustration from the client side.
A better understanding and appreciation of the time constraint faced by the client would have helped them resource up and plan to ensure that they meet client expectations.
Ensure that you have your requirements articulated in detail in a formal document that is understood and agreed with the vendor.
Ensure that a detailed implementation plan is prepared and accepted by the client.

I spent over 18 months looking for the right software for our Medical RCM platform servicing Emergency Rooms, Urgent Care Clinics, and other high-encounter volume clients. Mercury Medical, by CrisSoft, Inc. was our final selection. We are very pleased with the software, as it is very flexible and configurable; it has replaced our previous platform, which was a combination of five separate software products "bolted" together. Mercury has allowed us to reduce our process times by as much as 65% for Claims and Payment posting, and our clients love the customizable performance reports that Mercury provides. Additionally, CrisSoft provides other services that allow us to scale for our clients. For instance, the ability to format and integrate customized HL7 messages allows us to integrate ACO participants and to use our RCM services platform as the backbone for Data Warehousing and Storage, as well as to provide business intelligence and analytics to capture and track the 26 quantifiable performance measurements for Accountable Care Organizations and Population Health Systems.
There is very little that we do not like about the software. Their service and support teams are very responsive, and their ability to understand the unique business rules of our Emergency Room clients have been extremely helpful for use to secure new clients.
When evaluating Revenue Cycle Management software, it is important to understand whether the RCM software was built around an EMR system or whether, like Mercury Medical, it is a standalone RCM platform that is configurable and customizable for your markets. This allows Mercury Medical to seamlessly integrate with various EMR systems. Also, for reasonable development costs, CrisSoft has customized Mercury Medical to exceed our rigorous operating specifications to service Emergency Rooms and other high-encounter volume medical markets. The other medical software products that we reviewed were much less flexible and could not be configured and customized to meet our unique applications to integrate and provide the operating platform to service emerging Population Health and ACO systems.
