Pulse EMR Software

4 Reviews (4.4/5)

Pulse Patient Relationship Management is a fully integrated electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), billing, and scheduling system. Pulse has been in business since 1982 and has maintained a 95% customer retention rate since then. Pulse was the first EMR/EHR software vendor to receive 2011 CCHIT certification in 2010 and is now 2011/2012 ONC-ATCB certified.

Pulse is suitable for a wide variety of ambulatory care providers, including primary care providers (internal medicine, family medicine, and pediatrics) and a number of related specialists including Ob/Gyn, cardiology, nephrology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, oncology, and ophthalmology. The flexible system can be purchased in a modular fashion, enabling practices to purchase only the modules they require. EMR/EHR and practice management modules can be purchased separately or together as an integrated suite. While Pulse is used by practices of all sizes, we typically recommend it to practices with at least 2 physicians on staff.

Pulse is Microsoft SQL and Windows-based. The HIPAA-compliant system offers e-prescribing, lab integration with major labs and local hospitals, HL7 support, and integration with tablet PCs and Dragon Naturally Speaking. The system requires only a flat, monthly fee with no upfront licensing costs. The program can be installed on-premise at the practice’s office or hosted by Pulse and accessed remotely over the web.

Pulse boasts that its commitment to customer support is demonstrated by its 90% resolution rate on first customer support calls and an average call back time of 90 seconds or less. Pulse offers all clients a free online learning tool called PACE (Pulse Academy for Client Education), accessed over the web 24/7.

We are an 8 physician clinic that specializes in arthritis and rheumatology with two locations with about forty total users of Pulse. We have been using Pulse since about 2006 and we currently use Pulse for both the EHR and account management.

One thing I want to say is that Pulse continues to develop its product and is very current in regards to e-prescribing, PQRI and meaningful use.

Pulse can be daunting at first as it can allow you to do the same thing a variety of ways but once you get used to it, it does become easier to use.

If you use Pulse now, but are not using Statistical Analysis for your AR management tracking, start now. We have seen a dramatic positive increase in our AR management in terms of net collections and Days AR as the Statistical Analysis provides an excellent AR tracking method. In allows you to target problem areas as you track over time.

At times, we have also used Pulse's Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) for assistance in problem areas of our AR and the clinic has definitely benefited in using RCM.

Overall - the physicians and staff are satisfied with Pulse and we continue to utilize more of its functionality as we continue to develop as as clinic and the move to a totally paperless system.

Wichita OB/GYN Associates is four physicians who have practiced together for nearly 30 years, three nurse practitioners, a physician assistant, two physical therapists and an ultrasound technician.

We have used the practice management software from Pulse Systems for over 10 years and implemented the EHR Lite in early 2010. As we looked at making the transition to Electronic Medical Records, we found that Pulse Patient Relationship Management fit the needs of our practice. It was already integrated with our practice management solution. It also allowed for a gradual transition to what we knew to be inevitable, which is a full point of care electronic system to meet Meaningful Use requirements. The EHR Lite allowed the impact to be minimal to the physicians initially, which meant no decrease in productivity.

We liked that we had an implementation specialist assigned to us during the transition who was knowledgeable of not only the software, but also of medical practice office processes. They had some solid insight into how to most efficiently change the work flow to fit our practice needs.

I continue to be pleased with the customer support that we receive. Each time I call, a live person answers the phone and in many cases is able to solve the issue while we are on the phone. If the question requires some research, the staff are prompt in getting answers and following up.

Overall, we are very pleased with the decision to use Pulse Systems.

We are a 2 physician urology practice. It's a father and son team, the son being computer literate and the father having never even turned on a computer until we implemented Pulse EMR.

We started using PulsePro for Practice Management in 2003. Installation was a breeze and it is such a user-friendly program that everyone caught on quickly. Our A/R days improved so quickly that it paid for itself in a year. The EMR was a little more challenging with a physician that had never touched a computer and didn't really want to. We took implementation very slowly and Pulse accommodated that; we ate the elephant one bite at a time, so to speak.

Pulse's customer support is the best in the business. We had a server crash (no fault of Pulse or their software) and within hours they were here, working night and day until we were back up and running. We had a few other issues during implementation with program customization. Mostly, we changed our mind and Pulse fixed and re-fixed things to our satisfaction.

They have a User Group meeting annually that is 3 days of fun and learning. Every year we come back with a new trick for getting around the system as well as what's new in our industry. Our Account Manager is always available to assist with questions or concerns.

I tell everyone that is looking for a new system, no matter what specialty, to talk to Pulse!

We are a family practice clinic with 7 physicians located in Wichita, KS. We are not owned by a hospital, IPA, or any other entity, so we are able to make our own independent decisions. Our physicians' age and experience varies from one fresh out of residency, to several who have been practicing for 15 years, to some that have been practicing for over 25 years.

Before purchasing our system from Pulse, we reviewed many systems, narrowing our selection down to 3 finalists. All 3 of these did demonstrations for every area within the clinic. Each area gave their feedback, and the result was nearly 100% in favor for Pulse Patient Relationship. The bottom line was the flexibility and functionality was just better.

Although we have had inevitable difficulties, and our transition was not painless, Pulse has been with us every step of the way. The best way we can attest to our success is to note that we replaced our old practice management system, installed a complete EHR in place of our paper charts, interfaced our lab information system, interfaced with our reference lab provider, incorporated electronic prescribing, changed from paper phone messages to a fully integrated messaging and tasking system, replaced our entire computer hardware environment, and achieved Meaning use all within one year.

The customer support allows us to utilize either the internet or phone to report issues; and when we call we appreciate the fact that a person answers the phone. The Pulse product continues to improve and seems to be on top of all the changes within the medical profession. We look forward to a long relationship with Pulse.
