SOAPware EMR Software


 

SOAPware, by Health Management Consultants, LLC, is available both as a standalone electronic medical records (EMR) system and as an integrated suite, which includes a practice management solution (the “Clinical Edition”).

Described by the vendor as a “chart-centric EMR system,” all patient information is managed from inside the chart for quick access. SOAPware helps users create documentation for a variety of examination and procedures, and notes can be made using the system’s integrated medical dictation software. Symptom- and diagnosis-based templates are available, which can be downloaded and customized or used as-is. And SOAPware can help users create referral letters and patient instructions.

Electronic prescriptions can be written and printed from the system. Reporting and coding assistance capabilities are also supported. SOAPware’s online user community provides support and allows users to share success stories, templates and more. Additional support as well as training and implementation assistance is also available through the vendor.

Ease of operation after you overcame the obstacles of learning the system.

The system "freezes up" quite often. The many updates that we have had caused loss of information that was convenient for billing.

Recommendations

Insist on customer service being available when needed. When we first began the billing the associate we were assigned had an unacceptable attitude many times when asked simple questions. We would rather use trial and error to solve our own problems.

It is very user friendly. It was very simple to learn all the ins and outs and since I have taught several other employees to use the software

I do not like the error messages that are given by Soapware on a daily basis. It is very frustrating when this happens in the middle of treating patients.

Recommendations

Please try to resolve any issues there may be that cause the error messages. If the error messages were not a problem the software would be wonderful.

I would say it is very user friendly to use and customer service is great really. Technology has really came along way and I think that soapware maybe needs to look at upgrading for their program to keep up with technology.

Every time is time for an update you can bet there will be problems to follow. Also when you are in demographics and trying to put a patient in the program it will freeze up on you and you have to log out and log back in to finish with the patient that you are on meantime patient is still on the phone.

It is very user friendly and easy to work through with seeing patients.

Very user friendly and very intuitive to use. It is highly customizable. It appears like a paper chart. It has good technical support. They do listen to input from users and make the changes when they can most times. It is integrated system with billing/practice management and EMR/patient's documentation. Additionally, it is a good value ( one of the least expensive software software)

Since the upgraded a few years ago, the system has gotten slower to use and often freezes up. The system also does not work consistently with Dragon dictation system. There was an issue with the mouse jumping around which continues today although there have been modest improvements over the years.

Recommendations

Like in any local based server Systems, one would needs to know some basics of computing and network - or get one to help you. Test the software ( the company allow this on their servers by using remote desktop - which is good). Also view comments of users on the website. They have a lot of dedicated users who love software but also it will show areas of concerns about the software.

Very easy for the end user to customize. Company was started an is owned by a physician who understands what we want in an EMR.

Like all EMR software companies development over the last several years has been dominated by government mandates for meaningful use.

Recommendations

SOAPware can be easily customized and fits many different work flow patterns. It offers both in EMR and billing module. I highly recommend SOAPware.
