The Vālant Psychiatric Suite is a highly intuitive electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management system for psychiatrists, psychologists and other providers in the mental health profession. The system includes functionality for medical records, clinical documentation, patient scheduling, billing, lab tracking and electronic prescribing. The EMR Suite is fully certified to meet meaningful use standards, so users that take full advantage of the system’s capabilities can qualify for stimulus subsidies.

The system is entirely web-based and hosted by Vālant. This offloads the IT support challenges that many small practices are unable to handle on their own. Providers will benefit from simply having to log in through a web browser. Those providers who prefer Apple computers will be excited to know that the system can run in the Safari browser on MacOS.

Vālant is very affordable. The subscription price includes initial training and unlimited support.

Valant Psychiatric EMR usually works well. The features are nice, and I like when it reminds me that I need to write a document. But it doesn't allow me to sync my schedule with my iCal - although they told me when I paid that they would have an iPhone app out in a month that would do it. In fact, their CEO sent out a press release promising that it would be out before I even signed up. It's still not out, and it's been about five months. But my biggest complaint is their use of Microsoft Word. It's pretty annoying that documents are stored in a Microsoft Word document and have to be retrieved; instead of a built in form on the interface.
