I think it is one of the best products to support productivity

Pros

The thing I appreciate most is the ability to have clipboards, files, images, and synced documents in any device I own regardless of what it generates

Cons

There are no shortcuts for simple commands in the PC version. If they were, they would be very comfortable because it would make it easier to use

Pros

I like that is easy to use and share files with my fellow employees. It is much simpler than having a established network for file sharing and organization.

Cons

I hate that it is not compatible with Excel and that any formatted tables loose their formatting and aren't viewed well on the phone app.

Pros

I just love how easy it is to use Evernote on every device and how simple it is to tag and organize all my information in diffferent folders. I am premium user and love every part of it.

Cons

Can't find any, really. Maybe it be faster to sync from the mobile app and work on some issues regarding privacy. But I know the Evernote team is working on it.

I like that it can be used across multiple platforms. I use it mostly in meetings. I like all of the customization and colorization.

Cons

It can be a bit buggy when opening up at first. I don't like how it is difficult to have consistent fonts and letter sizes when copying information into the notes.

Best software for collecting creative ideas.

Value for Money

Overall this is by far the best way for creative people to index ideas. Have you ever written down an idea, created a melody, or taken a photo or video of something that inspired you only to be lost in the bottom of a note pad or photo album? Evernote will not only collect almost every medium you want to catalog, it allows you search and catalog them and even join ideas together that you never thought of.

Pros

Shares across all your devices. Search capabilities are incredible. It will even recognize text in photos.

Cons

They don't seem to listen to their community and take on some obvious feedback about color coding folders.

If you have a Mac, you need Evernote. My favorite feature is the elephant in the upper right corner that lets you open a new note with one click and start typing. I don't use post-its anymore. Absolutely love everything about Evernote. The only thing I'd change is to add the ability to archive notes.

Pros

Simple to use. Robust in features. Drag and drop images in and out. Take screenshots easily (I use this feature daily). Best in the business.

Cons

Needs the ability to archive a note. Otherwise, perfect.

Reliable Software but Not Unique

I started using Evernote several years ago as an easy way to take notes during meetings and seminars and keep track of Client tasks and projects. I'd been using Google Drive/Docs for several years prior, but wanted to start fresh with something new. While it worked for me for a while, I soon found that my needs outpaced the features offered by Evernote, and I started using it less and less. Eventually, I moved all of my project management over to Basecamp instead, because it simply offered more features and integrations that I needed to run my business.

Pros

At the time I made heavy use of Evernote, I was able to easily sync notes on my tablet, phone, laptop, and PC automatically. I also liked being able to organize notes into notebooks so I could quickly find things.

Cons

The Windows tablet/touchscreen laptop app was buggy and somewhat annoying to use. The layout and organization were very different from the mobile and desktop apps. Also, recently, the free account no longer allows as many devices as I had originally hooked up. It lacks some of the features that more robust project management software have as standard features.

Advice to Others

I think Evernote is great if you need to take notes and create on-the-fly to-do lists. However, there are much better solutions out there for both of those things. For my day-to-day needs, I've replaced Evernote entirely with Basecamp.

I use Evernote every single day and have found it to be a quality product. I started using Evernote two years ago and ran into some issues with the software freezing and shutting down unexpectedly. I stopped using it for a while but my alternative, Mac Notes, wasn't cutting it. I gave Evernote another shot and it has been great ever since. I regularly update and no longer experience freezing or unexpected shutdown issues.

I use the software for the most basic note-taking, but I know it also offers many features that can be helpful for many types of users. I recommend the software to all of my colleagues and anyone in need of a note-taking application.

Pros

The ease of use and reliability is great. The updates are quick and work in the background, so they don't disrupt my current work.

Cons

No cons at this time.

Advice to Others

This product offers lots of features that can be helpful for organization and collaboration, but it is also great for basic note-taking.

The software is fairly intuitive and easy to use; I like the ios app because it allows you to use the task management aspects of Evernote anywhere.

I move between client offices about half the time and find that having an electronic task list is extremely helpful; I also use the clipping function frequently to capture research that I'm doing for my newsletter or for a client project.

The Chrome extension works extremely well; I haven't had the same success with FireFox;

Evernote is a better alternative to keeping bookmarks, open browser windows or copying to a Word doc - the way I used to capture research for later use;

Likes Least

I sometimes have trouble figuring out how to use Evernote with different browers to clip items of interest

If you're into the task management use of Evernote then I recommend David Allen's short paper on implementing his system GTD in Evernote;

I've been using Evernote for almost one year and it is simply amazing. As a small business owner my day is a whirlwind of tasks ranging from management to marketing to maintenance and with Evernote I can stay organized without slowing down. Not only can I do the usual note taking, task lists, etc. but my notes are automatically organized and synced across my devices! And whenever I come across something online, with Evernote I can save it with just the push of my thumb. From pics to videos, audio, whatever, Evernote has me covered! Evernote won me with its ease of use, speed, and connectivity. I not only use Evernote for business, I use it for personal organization as well. Evernote is fire!

Likes Least

Evernote really is a brilliant app that knows no bounds. The only feature I would add is a task list. I can create one and that works fine but task list template would be sweet.

Recommendations

Evernote is in a class of its own. I have not found another app that seamlessly combines note taking, organization, file saving & sharing (any kind of file) like Evernote. Evernote has a free version so try it out!

A killer note taking system with custom folders that rock. It's the easiest business collaboration tool that people will actually use! Basically organize your company with custom projects, by folder and store every single piece of info you every need.

Pros

You really only need one paid user and you can create customer folders that enable notes to be shared with any free user.

Cons

It's pretty killer overall but easier folder nesting would be a nice bonus. And there used to be a folder sync limit, so I always delete folders when creating new ones. Perhaps this was fixed. Can you tell I'm a folder freak!

Oh yes, there used to be a note back and forth button. Gone now. This REALLY is lame that it's not present because jumping around notes is very common and going to the previous note is a pain.

I organize my whole life on Evernote. It is the gold standard when it comes to note taking apps. I literally do not know what i would do without it. It is my second brain.

Pros

It is super easy to use but does not fall short on features. The best thing about it is the community behind Evernote. There are many third party applications to extend its functionality. like i use this service called taskclone. what it does it takes any to-do from a note that you tag "taskclone" and copies them to any to-do app (like asana or wunderlist) so that you can further delegate to your team and efficiently go through your day.

Cons

This might be a personal thing nut since i have everything on Evernote, i wish it had more features in terms of organization. like an extra option of being able to add sections to notebooks (like in OneNote) which can provide further organization to my stuff without cluttering up Evernote with a lot of notebooks. And also the "remember view option" setting for notebooks should be extended to whole stacks because it defeats the purpose when the thumbnails of my notes can be viewed from the stack but hidden in my notebook.

Advice to Others

Use it. organize your life.

I absolutely love Evernote. I use it every day, multiple times a day and I use it to manage several projects. It has replaced all of my paper systems for storing and saving information, the only exclusion to this being official government documentation. The tagging system allows me to keep track of what is in each note and reduces my need to have a super-detailed filing system for my notes. It allows me to get down to work on the things that matter without the interface getting in the way.

Pros

- Powerful feature set - audio notes, handwriting notes, .PDF support, sharing and communication built into the app, etcetera.
- Wonderfully clean and simple GUI (Android and Web)

Cons

- GUI on Windows seems to lag a bit behind the other platforms in development. It does not feel as clean and simple as the other apps that are available.
- Virtually no support for any of the Linux based OS;s. Which is a shame, because Evernote is a must-have, in my book.

Advice to Others

Try out the free version and read a few articles on how to make use of all its features. There are a lot of them, and you likely won't need all of them, but it is so versatile that there are many ways to utilize it effectively as a resource. That may be all that you need, too. But you can get more and the costs to upgrade are not steep.

Evernote is my favorite app for keeping documents, lists, notes and records. It is invaluable to have these notes on my phone, tablet, computer - as well as accessible on anyone else's computer just by logging in.
I love Evernote's organization with tags and notebooks, as well as "starring" some notes. It makes it easy to find what you need quickly. And of course there is a search feature as well.
Evernote syncs quickly between devices (as long as you are connected to internet). I also love that you can attach documents to a note.
They recently made the feature to view notebooks when you are offline a paid feature, which was disappointing. However I understand, and needing that feature I signed up on their Plus plan which is very affordable. The offline viewing is the feature I use the most.
Overall Evernote is a high functioning, smooth running app for note-taking. It's handy for that random thought you have on the go that you need to jot down, or for keeping lists - I even keep my house-cleaning list on it!
One thing to note is that Evernote doesn't run very well if you have slow internet. It will often not load the left panel "notes list" for me on my home internet, which is sometimes slow. Otherwise, I have no complaints.

Evernote is one of those tools those sounds better on paper, than it actually is. Not as easy to navigate as pitched, and somewhat clunky. I like their design approach, but needs to be more user-friendly. Hope they step up their game, soon... we could use something like this, again!

Evernote helps me to organize my personal and business appointment. The possibility to work in different platforms is awesome. I'm an older user and I'm really surprised about the Evernote evolution and solutions offered to help users.

This is a spectacular software if you want to switch away from the old note pad. As you know as the note pad gets thick and full of notes it gets really really hard to find notes.
The is were Evernote shines. Simply 'SEARCH' for your notes. Its that easy. No more shuffling through note pads. Plus you can excess your notes you typed on your computer on your mobile device. It has never been easier. No more note pads to carry around.

Love the concept and have used both the desktop and online version but found problems with notes not syncing up correctly between users for work and notes got lost. The problem seemed better when we all used the online version....but that requires an Internet connection which was a downside. I still use it for personal use on my phone but not for work anymore.

I love evernote for a multitude of reasons. The main overlying theme is that it is extremly simple and keeps all of my thoughts in one place. I love being able to share notes with a team and work through them together. The scanning feature is a godsend.

So many ways to remember, to organize, to slice and dice information. Store links, notes, receipts, reports. Organize your thoughts. Scan and store business cards - even add the data automatically to your Google contacts, then add notes about the person or business. And the information follows you from desktop to laptop to tablet to phone. I can't say enough good things about this tool.
