Mavenlink offers support for resource management, time and expense tracking and management, planning and reports and analytics. Its design relies on a single navigation bar which links to key areas of the platform. The centralized dashboard keeps users updated on the most recent activity and progress of each project.

Mavenlink integrates with many popular applications, such as Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, JIRA and Zendesk. Its Chrome plugin assigns tasks based on emails, and its QuickBooks integration syncs with time and projects.

I use this tool as an Engineer, to manage small-large scale technical projects. I find the tasking very helpful, but the navigation and interface is not extremely straightforward. I think there is a lot of functionality that I'm not aware of.

Pros

Ability to categorize and organize tasks; assign estimated hours and budget to each tasks, and view the project status and burn rate throughout the cycle of the project.

Cons

The interface is a bit difficult to navigate- lots of clicks to get to the right place. Unable to log time to a deliverable, and lack of options regarding different task statuses. This might be customizable and I just don't have access to do so. The organization of the different permissions is confusing as well.

Advice to Others

A great deal of assistance was required to build Mavenlink to meet our requirements, and we were very limited on the ability to integrate with our Salesforce system.

Mavanlink is good for managing projects WHEN it works. Initially when I purchased the software I was expecting a smooth sync between Quickbooks and Mavenlink- not the case. I ended up having to convert from Enterprise on my desktop to QB online in order for the sync to happen. That was not an additional task that I signed up for when I purchased the software. Even with the QB online, many times I am unable to create a project from a QB estimate which was the entire reason I purchased the software

Doesn't always sync with quickbooks. Customer service sucks unless you pay for it. Does not have a to-do area, only projects

Mavenlink had everything our Business Unit was looking for in a Project Management Software.

Pros

It's web based, so many of our Inspectors use it update their records in the field. Great budgeting and forecasting tools. Also has task scheduling, timesheets, charting, and critical path.

Cons

Implementation costs were somewhat high. No Microsoft Project integration.

Advice to Others

If you are a small to mid-sized company I'd definitely recommend Mavenlink.

It has some great features. The Gantt chart probably the most interesting one. But you cant make it count weekends as workdays, ans has the most horrible customer support i ever experienced.

We have used this product for over a year and it seems to be the most cost effective software for construction and inspection firms looking to track the progress of projects. We have used this program with ease and kept all of our projects organized and on time.

Pros

Customer Service. Ease of use.

Cons

Projects auto populate at 10 per page. You have to select the option to populate more every time you go to the projects page. I would like it to auto populate the entire list on the projects page.

Mavenlink is hands down the most full featured solution for project management.

We've tried just about every major application, and as developers & designers all of them are equally easy to use. However, Mavenlink's big win is the fact that you don't need to be a developer to understand the interface, and you don't need to have project management experience to understand how projects work and how to collaborate with a team online.

It's truly the perfect solution for any business that has short and long-term projects where clients need to be involved in the process the entire time. There is no learning curve, and the friction is so low on the client end that adoption is just wonderful - there really is no training or explanation necessary.

Mavenlink is designed around the idea of scalability and works well for midsize companies who expect to grow in size and in project totals or complexity. It also has a really nice client facing functionality with awesome proofing capabilities for creative agencies.

Pros

The customer support is amazing. They really make a commitment to partner Witt you to grow your business.

The technology that Mavenlink is built on is powerful, both in terms of speed and design ethos. Time-tracking and task management features are strong.

Likes Least

Initial appearances indicate a high degree of customizability, but the design is fairly restrictive on the whole. Creating custom reporting is very complicated and not intuitive. Mavenlink support's responsiveness to feature requests is not impressive.

Recommendations

Jump into a trial and run a project from start to finish. If you are happy with how everything was handled, Mavenlink will be a good solution. If you find yourself wishing that it worked differently, don't expect that you'll necessarily "figure out a solution" or that it will eventually work the way you want.

The vendor was the most helpful out of all the software we evaluated. They were more than happy to supply all security documentation our paranoid IT department demanded.

Takes a little time to set up but most comprehensive project management tools do, so this is less a criticism than an insight into my motivation levels for admin tasks...

From the trial, I think this a good way to organize and complete larger products. We have not joined completely yet as we are still dceiling how many people will be using the software.

Nothing yet. All personnel I was in.touch with were helpfull.and knowledgeable. We are still learning the product so my ratins may reflect lack of knowledge more than not liking it.

Recommendations

Evaluate your needs and what you are looking to do with the software. We have a small number of people that will use the software so this will be more affordable yet still give us good tools to use.

When I first was introduced to this system I was thrilled to see that every need that I had, in terms of project management tracking was met with the capabilities of this system. It has endless amounts of functionality.

After my first tour of the system I was a little overwhelmed. I think it would be best to start with a demo of the basic system and progress if more functionality is required.

Start with the basic version. Once you are comfortable using the program assess whether you require any additional features before committing to them.
