Ease of use, and integration with Quickbooks - good value compared to other solutions

Built in reports and capabilities. Don't have time to learn I-Report, and the report data base is not easy to figure out.

The support of the staff in order to fix issues is great, but this means you have to be ready to deal with a software with many limitations.

The reports from FB is limited and every single time that you need an extra you have to pay for customization. They haven't integrate the scanners on the picking area, that limited the chance for better productivity organization.

Recommendations

I think the option to customize your own reports, without to contact a third party will be a great asset.

Nothing, I have been a user for 8+ years, this has to be one of the worst run companies that I have worked with. There product has major flaws and unless you want to be on the phone with their tech support each week I would suggest you find another inventory product.

This company is more interested in yearly maintenance renewals that can cost thousands of dollar vs the lame support that they are providing. We have had an ongoing sync problem since November, this causes your system to freeze and they only work around is to kick out all users and restart the system, this occurs every time you sync the data.

We went from a 160k home grown system to Fishbowl. For the price, I think it is an okay option, but there are some major flaws.

1. You can only opt to charge for shipping or not to charge when integrating with UPS or FedEx. This seems crazy to me. Many companies sell both retail and wholesale. For retail, free freight or a fixed freight cost is standard; however, with wholesale charging exact freight is fairly common. Their system does not allow you to specify shipping per customer; it is all or none. This is a major design flaw.
2. They constantly have an issue called phantom commit. This is where inventory gets reserved for orders; however, there are no real orders. This means when you actually go to ship an order, you might not be able to because all the inventory is locked up. They told me there is no fix for this and that for it to be corrected, we need to stop shipping for hours so it can be fixed. We find these issues daily, and their solution is for us to stop our company so they can to a temporary fix. Huge frustration for us.

Recommendations

I am considering a stop payment and going back to my old system. It is impossible to ship in Fishbowl with their phantom commit issue. I will follow up with my review if I see any improvements.

We like the simplicity and intuitiveness of the product. It also makes sure we take all the necessary steps and can't cut corners where we could in our old software.

The flexibility of Fishbowl is somewhat limited. There are several things that can be written for your business, but they obviously cost more money.

Recommendations

Make sure to do your research. If you are far along in your business model and have policy and systems in place that you like, make sure you can still do those things within Fishbowl. Schedule several demos and make sure you are bringing samples of things your company does that you would like to see in Fishbowl.

I like the ability to see every angle of your business. I was very excited about getting this product, but because of the service, I am quite disappointed. It is a decent product, but without any support, it's very frustrating.

Customer service! They will never answer; you must leave a message for them. If you're lucky, they'll call you back that day.

Recommendations

I would highly consider the fact that it is not easy to reach them after they sell the product to you and have your money. Customer service is horrible. When you call, they do not answer, and you have to leave a message. However, once you can finally reach them they can typically solve your problem.

If what you need is just a little bit more than what you're going to get out of QuickBooks, than you're in luck. But my guidance would be to serious evaluate alternatives. If you're going to all the trouble to install a new system, is 'a little bit more' worth it, or should you just bit the bullet, and move to something like Epicor that gives you a lot more capability?

The sales agent was nice, and the Fishbowl logo was cool. Other than that, I don't have anything else.

The software is very hard to use. There are a lot of steps to get the software set up. Once set up, using the software was not easy. There are many steps between receiving and completing an order.

Recommendations

Fishbowl has a 30-day money back guarantee. It takes more than 30 days to install and set up the software to give you the opportunity to try it out. Be sure not to pay anything before you try the software. Once you have paid, you will not be able to get your refund if you're not able to try it fully within 30 days. They do not stand behind their product.

The product is intuitive and allows manufacturing to be integrated with the inventory. The product is pretty easy to use once the database is set up and the processes have been established. I love the chat feature on support. We use it daily. The staff we've dealt with at Fishbowl are absolutely great!

The product's "seamless" integration with Quickbooks is hard to understand. The staff has no Quickbooks training and cannot help you with questions about the processes of what happens to the sales orders and POs once they have gone over to QB. It was extremely frustrating.
Setting up the database was basically a do-it-yourself project for us. When I asked questions, I got tons of referrals to Wiki pages of instructions when I really needed some human guidance. I ended up starting over three or four times and recreating the database because I didn't have enough guidance in the beginning.
You cannot print the barcodes on large labels for easy reading in a warehouse setting; there are only a couple of size options, and both are really small.

Recommendations

Consider seriously spending the extra money to have the Fishbowl staff come on site to help you with setup. I think it could have saved us a ton of work.

The salesperson did an excellent job of selling us this software.

The program does not work for many of the main reasons we purchased it. Do not believe it will solve specific issues you are having with your inventory until you verify this with a current user. We were told it would do many things it does not. This software is very expensive, so make sure you are going to get what you paid for!

We sell on a website and on Amazon Prime. We paid extra to have custom software written to make this integration work, and we also paid to have a Fishbowl representative come to our office for installation and training. When he arrived, he discovered that the integration software was not ready, and we were not able to go live. He never returned to finish the installation and training, and we were not refunded any money. We were given a credit for phone training, which was not very helpful. Again, buyer beware.

Recommendations

We have had this software for over nine months, and it has never worked properly. I have one member of my staff that has become the expert on the software. She has worked on the integration along with me since day one. The company that Fishbowl contracted to write the integration software has been a wonderful company to work with. I just wish I could say the same about Fishbowl. There software is not intuitive, causes almost as many issues with inventory as it fixes, and crashes constantly. Their chat help is good, but the rest of their support is very poor. They try to help, but they seem to have a lot of turnover, and often you find that you know more about the software than the person that is helping you. They also charge us annually for this poor support. Unfortunately, we are stuck with this program, but I would urge you to really study this software before making the same mistake. It may work fine for a simple business model, but if you have a simple business model, you can just use Quickbooks.

The software is extremely easy to learn and navigate. It allows for easy entry and tracking of purchase orders, receipts, and customer orders. The Reports menu offers every kind of inventory management report that is needed to reconcile and track all inventory transactions and historical data.

Take a trial run and work with the product for a few days. You will see the ease of being a user, the ability to work fluidly with the screens, and the functionality.

The technical staff is very knowledgeable and supportive. They are able so solve every issue I have had so far.

My only complaint is that when I call, I am put on hold as nobody is available to talk at that time. I end up leaving a message and someone calls me back. Only problem with that is that I am not always available to answer the phone so we end up playing phone tag for a while until we connect.
