I started up my retail store from scratch and Lightspeed made it so much easier. The vendor catalog import feature makes finding products a snap, especially for special orders. I can't lose the special orders because they are all computerized and attached to the customer. When I had to go offsite, this cloud based system let me do every transaction I needed to do (sell inventory, email receipts, special orders), it was just like taking the register with me. The system is very intuitive. It takes me about 10 minutes to train someone on the system, even my children (ages 15 and 11) picked it up quickly and can help all my customers. I haven't used the eCommerce feature yet, but it looks promising.
The customer service is spectacular! Firefox had an update that knocked the receipt settings off. I had to call every day for 5 days because what they fixed would reset in the morning. They finally figured out the problem, but every call they were polite, cheerful, and respectful. They didn't talk down to me like some IT do when explaining the setting configuration and even called me on their own to check that their fix had worked. I felt that they cared about my experience and wanted to help me, not just because it was their job to.

I have never used a product that runs so smoothly and has so many functions! Light speed is an amazing program and I will continue to use it in my business, I do however with it was a little bit cheaper but it is worth every penny and helps my business succeed!

I have been with Lightspped for about 6 months and i have be so pleased with the service and the product they produce. It has provided me with,all i need in the running of our business. It is user friendly and I can find new things daily that amazes me about what this system can do. It has helped me with inventory and they way I do my ordering,this system has saved me money

Lightspeed is a great product, very easy to use and the customer service is excellent.

Pros

The customer service is probably my favorite feature of Lightspeed, not only the live chats with techs, but the videos are great. After 5 years of using Lightspeed I'm still finding new and improved features to help make my life easier.

Cons

Lightspeed is a little on the pricey side, about 3 times a year we need an extra register because we run a remote location, the cost for the use of an extra register is not worth the time and effort to do stuff by hand.

Advice to Others

This is a great product, we are a small business (no employees, 1 register, 1 location) and have had little problems. When we do have problems the customer service is great.

I have only been using Light speed for about 10 months but have no desire to try anything else it is always working and if there are any updates or possibilty of down time they are great about given a heads up before.

In a sea of POS/Retail Software, it's extremely hard to weed out the good from the bad. After months of research I was confident in choosing Lightspeed for our company. The ease of the retail software and training for sale associates on using the software was the best quality. You don't have to be a computer genius to use this software and even if you are it stands up to that as well. The amount of features the software has is amazing. Being able to track sales and discounts, from customer purchases, the list is long is it's great features, plus the ease and integration for having an online web store.

Pros

Tracking inventory, sales, being able to track employee performances. Integrated credit card terminal and shipping software with eCommerce. Easy purchase order creation, being able to do so many different reports as well as creating them for each store and even broken down by register as well. A great customer service company. The customer service is very helpful and will walk you through any problem or situation.

Cons

There's only a couple, but most people don't mind yet I'm a little extra computer savvy so I don't like that I can not do our own inventory uploads. Also not being able to upload different pricing levels, and wish there was a way to add notes to inventory adjustments as well as download all the created variables for all customer data.

Advice to Others

If you have outgrown square, or really need a software that you can easily train your employees on Lightspeed is definitely a great choice. The customer service alone is great. They will help you with anything they can without charging you an arm and a leg to talk to them like other companies. If you write your own software then maybe you need something else, but if you need a great Small to Large Business POS software system Lightspeed is your choice. I think Lightspeed is the best choice for cost and features for this level software.

I have been using Lightspeed Retail for my store for over a year. I have been extremely pleased with it from day 1.
The ease of use, access, on boarding have all been great for me and my company. Customer service staff are awesome and answer all my inquiries in a very timely and efficient manner. If they dont have an answer right away, they get it and return my call or email.

Pros

Very easy to use and access. Great customer service. Updates come through as necessary.
Cloud access is perfect. I can work outside the store and still process sales. Check in and see how the day is going, check stock, etc.

Cons

A couple of features are still updating. There was a limit on qualities in an inventory matrix that I had issues with. That has already been resolved.

Advice to Others

Take a look at lightspeed if you are looking for cloud based POS systems. You will be surprised at how much bang for your buck you get with them!

We are a small non-profit. We purchased a five year contract for lightspeed and webstore so we could lock in a decent rate. We are less than two years into our contract. We have recently been informed that they are discontinuing the "webstore" and you have to upgrade to the new ecommerce. The new ecommerce is more expensive (now they limit the number of items you can have online at each price level) and they are asking us for another $!!!

The sales team was really strong and sold us on this product. The support team since is hard to get a hold of and lacks answers. The online help system only works intermittently.

Pros

It is easy to use when ringing in sales.

Cons

The reports are not comprehensive enough. We've run into problems selling gift cards, tracking inventory, uploading inventory and printing labels.

I have used LS for a while and there some great things and some not so great things. Overall, it's a decent POS system but we have tried a few different systems and none of them really have the full capability that we need.

Pros

iPad and desktop systems can functions with the same look/feel/functionality. Can track marketing/how customers heard about us. Can have default line items notes when specific info about a product or delivery option is required; super helpful. Can easily add shipping info to an individual order w/o affecting the master account. Refunds/exchanges are easy.

Cons

Lack of flexibility with discounts; must be an exact % or $ from a menu. It has issues printing receipts from a regular printer due to conflicts with browsers. The cash drawer pops open after every transaction even if it's a credit card payment; it's either on or off but not intuitive. It takes a digital signature but doesn't print it out on the receipt. Sales tax has to be selected from a self created menu; better if it was intuitive.

Advice to Others

Great system for a retail business where goods are purchased and taken right away. Not good if your business requires negotiating $ or custom goods or a lot of ordering and shipping from different warehouses/locations.

The software it's OK, but the POS equipment lacks . Using an iPad air makes it hard to do transactions, the screen is to small and you have to keep the charger attached all day. Plus the scanner is too small gets lost quickly

We signed up to try this POS software in August 2016 when it first came out. We are a manufacturer who ships to retail and wholesale channels in the US and Internationally.
Skubana.com works great. We track inventory in two warehouses, sync with Shopify for automated shipping and sync with Quickbooks for sales management.

Lightspeed claimed their software did all this but it doesn't allow you to ship or track inventory for online sales.

We learned about Lightspeed's fatal flaws only after talking to their support team. The sales team apparently never checked with the engineers to verify what their software's capabilities were.

So, we never even downloaded the software.

THEN - LIGHTSPEED REFUSED TO REFUND OUR PURCHASE EVEN THOUGH THE SOFTWARE DOESN'T WORK AND WE NEVER DOWNLOADED IT.

Advice to Others

Today is officially my first week working with this company and its always a little intimidating learning to use new software for a company because no one wants to constantly ask questions for help but you also don't want to input the wrong data. My customer service representative was very helpful during my one hour training session. She went through basically what ever action did on the system that my company was currently using. She always asked if she needed to repeat anything and showed me examples on the Sample software they have via the teamviewer application.

Pros

Big buttons, the help window literally list everything if you run into trouble. I like the fact the have reports for basically everything and shows a history of the item. From when it was processed to sold.

Cons

I don't know if you can or cannot, but I accidentally made a copy of a item and now can't delete the item!

Advice to Others

I've been using Lightspeed for about three weeks now and am completely satisfied with the customer service and support of the software so far. I looked into so many different companies but it seems that Lightspeed was the only one that had a strong presence not only in-store but online. I needed both to be equally strong. The customer service is 100% legit. The fact that Lightspeed can literally make changes for you is amazing. It's simple and easy to understand. The navigation is pretty straight forward. So far, I feel extremely confident about Lightspeed and it's ability to catapult my business into the 21st century. Also the fact that they don't charge for training and customer support is another winner!

After many years of running Lightspeed, I am STILL impressed with the product.

Lightspeed support is BY FAR the best support system I have ever experienced (with any technology!). Because Lightspeed cloud has such amazing support, it has now become standard procedure for all of our staff members to reach out directly to them with any questions or issues, no matter how big or small. Their support is so comprehensive that I have not had to hire an IT consultant in years and managers can now leave the store without feeling anxious since any employee can call support and get us back on track.

Here is what makes their support so great: They are based in North America!!! (we all know how valuable that is!). They answer the phone 24/7. They answer the phone in less than 10 minutes, usually in less than 5. They will call you back immediately. They will patiently guide even the most novice user through detailed procedures. You can actually speak to, and/or email the same person. This person will follow your case through until it is RESOLVED, even difficult issues are resolved in a matter of hours. Rarely does a support issue get held over until the next day. They are actually polite, and easy to talk to.They really seem to care about your business and will even sometimes do things outside of their scope in order to get you on track. There is no single support department ANYWHERE that does all this.

Lightspeed was the ONLY cloud based system I could find that could handle tens of thousands of ever changing SKUs with ease. I run a 6,500 square foot pet store, a 1,500 square foot warehouse, four busy check out counters and have 20 daily users. I have yet to be frustrated by this system that runs our business. I actually consider our store "lucky" to have found a POS system that works for us. Most store owners never find their match.

Lightspeed Retail is an easy to learn, highly intuitive cloud-based software for the retail POS, but at the same time gives you all the information you need (and then some) to run your small, medium or large business. As we prepare to open a second location, the fact that Lightspeed's multi-store capability keeps inventory synced across all locations is a huge plus

My favorite feature by far is the ability to log into my POS from any computer, pad or phone. The ability to keep track of my business when I am not at my business means a lot to me.

Lightspeed is an easy to use POS platform. We use it on the run/tri side of the store for POS and inventory, and on the cycle side of the store for inventory only.
It is easy to track items, sales and do reports, etc. The support team was extremely helpful when I converted from an older POS system. They took my customer information and inventory and inputted it into my new system within a few weeks.

Advice to Others
