LightSpeed is the best thing that happened in my business. It's easy to use and you can customize the entire solution to fit your business needs. LS is SMART!! Creating a product take 5 seconds - create a PO, e-mail it to your supplier, receive the order, generate an accurate inventory and you're done. It's great to monitor your inventory and so much more.

1 - The light speed system crashes a lot.
2 - I can't get into the light speed browser or what I would call back office to tweak items during sale on POS. Also, it does not save held transactions when you have to go to browser.
3 - I can not delete items you put in ever.
4 - The support is very slow and not open 24/7 so if your system is down, its down.
5 - The system seems to close down when we have a sale on hold for long periods which is needed.
6 - Be careful when putting in inventory; use all caps or all lower case because of the way stuff pops up.

We would really like to be able to go back and forth freely between the Lightspeed browser and POS without shutting one or the other off. We would like held transactions to stay until deleted on the POS or lets say if i have to shut down my POS to go to light speed browser to fix something we need, it should save held transactions so I can go straight back to my sale and not have to redo it all again.

Our company has been using LightSpeed since version 1.0 came out in 2005. Most of our inventory is high-valued and serialized and LightSpeed has been crucial in our successful management. Powerful inventory reports are a few clicks away... very nice.

We came from POS-IM, another Mac-based POS software. We've evaluated them a few times over the years (most recently about six months ago) and they can't hold a flame to LightSpeed.

LightSpeed is far from perfect, but there's nothing better on a Mac and nothing can touch its features for the price on the PC side. LightSpeed Mobile is a real added bonus that we use daily for inventory lookups and sales creation. We can either complete the sale right on the device, a sled and iPod -- same that Apple uses in their stores, or pass it off to a POS station.

The POS screen is quick and easy to use. The back-end browser is more functional, but can have a bit of lag doing certain tasks (POs with a hundred items, for instance). It was lightning fast in version 2.x, but the database in 3.x has slowed it down. It gets better in every build and hopefully we'll see it return to the 2.x PO speed soon.

LightSpeed's support was incredible a couple years ago, but it certainly took a blow when they started experiencing so much growth. I'm happy to say that support is back to an acceptable manner. When I call, I'll get a CSR who can point me where I need to be. This was a much-needed improvement.

Bottom line is that we can't imagine using another piece of software to run our business. It's powerful, sleek, functional, and certainly packs a wow factor for our customers.

We LOVE our LightSpeed POS System! We researched several different systems before we chose LightSpeed and could not be happier.

We are knitters who opened a yarn store February 1st of this year. No one would call us computer savvy but LightSpeed 3.4.5 has made us look very professional and current with the technology of the non-knitting world.

This system is the heart of our business. We use it to track all of our pending orders from vendors, control and evaluate our inventory, track customer spending, adjust pricing with just a few clicks of our mouse, monitor our taxes and so much more!

I am learning more and more all the time about what this software is capable of doing for our company. Our local reseller GoodWorks has been great for training and support.

I am surprised that Light Speed is going after the retail POS market when the do not offer the basic reports that retailers need to analyze their business. We are a one door menswear retail store and after switching from RMS to Light Speed I can no longer generate a sell thru by brand or by commodity (they only offer reports that show what is on hand but not what's been sold and what my sell thru is by percentage). I can no longer determine what my gross margin is as a percentage (only as a dollar figure unless I export to excel), and I can't determine what my markdowns are etc; all the basic reporting that I need to see how my business is running I no longer can pull up a report to analyze.

Layaways can no longer be done, it now takes my staff double the time to close at night, and I wasn't able to export my client information from my old system to Light Speed. After spending $20k on software and new computers, I find I have a nice looking POS system that is nonfunctional. The customer support agrees that Light Speed is lacking proper reporting and that they are working on it.
