Don't go there

Ease-of-use

It's a bug-free Mac-based system. We don't have inventory, so I can't speak to that very well.

Functionality

Again, it's a bug-free Mac system that does work when you get it set up.

Product Quality

The quality is good, but getting it set up took forever.

Customer Support

Both the first line staff and supervisors didn't listen to our issues and seemed to want to get us off the phone with any answer they could. Everything took numerous long calls, and answers vary from staff member to staff member.

Once the hardware and software are installed and up and running, it is a easy to use and is a bug-free Mac-based system. Everything worked once the long process of equipment arrival, download, and setup was accomplished.

Customer service is the very worst I have ever experienced. It took a month to get the hardware. Then, it took three months to get the software installed and another 4 months for a second location to be installed.

Recommendations

My recommendation is to go elsewhere. The long lead time for hardware and high price, along with the poor customer service is what makes this an unacceptable choice for a POS system.

Ease-of-use

It's very simple and straightforward. Information is organized consistently within the program.

Functionality

I wish it had more robust reporting, but for our employees, it is super-easy to use.

We've had very few issues with the product, and all were related to our installation - not ongoing use/operations.

Customer Support

They are responsive and helpful. Again, we've not needed extensive support, as our issues have all been related to installation.

I like the simple, intuitive interface and the consistency of information organization. Once you know where/how to look something up, it's easy to figure out most processes.

The reporting capabilities are not as robust as I would like.

Recommendations

Consider what kinds of information you will want to combine into single, recurring reports and ensure you are able to get what you want from your POS system.

Much easier than POS systems I've used in the past!!

Ease-of-use

It's extremely easy to navigate through the system. Even when having to troubleshoot because of user error or any other issue, they make it easy to figure out and solve the problem at hand.

Functionality

Absolutely! We work in a medical office and sell a little retail, so we're constantly having to navigate through different systems between our patient portals and scheduling software to LightSpeed. It's nice to know that we have an easy system to work with for patient sales vs. issues with other software.

Product Quality

Very good quality. I've never been charged with the task of shopping for a point of sale system, so I'm not sure what else is offered but I am sure this has to be top notch.

Customer Support

I personally haven't had to use it because I've never needed customer support, but if it's half as good as the system then I'm sure they are great.

I highly recommend it! After working in retail for over a decade, this is by far the easiest system I've ever used for inventory and selling merchandise.

The layout of the buttons makes it easy to figure out what you want to do.

I like how you can track customers; however, the only thing I would change is how you input a customer during a sale.

It's pretty easy, although uploading product data doesn't always work out quite right. You have to enter many things manually later when you find discrepancies.

Pretty good. I have only been using it for two months, so I am not sure yet.

It never crashes. It saves data really well. It has great search options for products, customers, etc.

I haven't needed them much, but they definitely call to check on me.

It's not easy to setup offsite login options. Transferring product data into the system doesn't work very well. Prices get excluded and you have to enter them in as you go about business, which isn't bad.

Software Issues, Bad Service!

Ease-of-use

At first, I thought this would be an easy program to use, but after buying it and using it in real time, there are so many wonky things you have to do to make the program work for you.

Functionality

This program's functionality is in the works. There are bugs and issues that the programmers haven't hammered out, and every time they offer a patch, new bugs and issues come up. I have thousands of products in the system, and I cross my fingers every day that the system doesn't totally crash and lose all my info before I've backed it up at the end of the day.

Product Quality

It looks pretty. Is that a quality? I'm a Mac user, and I was really hoping for a good quality POS that integrates well with our Mac. I had thought I found it with LS. I think I was taken with how the program looked, and the demo seemed pretty slick, but after buying it and using it in action, it falls short in quality and functionality.

Customer Support

They give vague answers and multistep ways to do something that should be simple to do, and they rarely ever interact in their own forums. I've seen unanswered questions from days, weeks, months, and years past. Lots of questions about bug issues.

After using LS for a year and half, I'm ditching it because of all the problems I've had with this program and the lack of customer service.

We have been using this product for 1.5 years, and it lacks basic needs that small brick-and-mortar retail stores need, like customer rewards (you have to go through a 3rd party who charges as much for the module as it costs for LS) and detailed reports (reports are very limited and unchangeable/revisable). Support is lacking and they very rarely ever give a straight answer or interact with their own forums. And now the news is that they are moving to a cloud-based system. And we all know how insecure online systems are!

Recommendations

I recommend researching everything you think you might want in a POS system before you try out their demo. Don't waste your time with something that won't deliver or will cost more in the long run because what was promised only happens if you buy the extra modules (which most cost as much as the program itself).

Features are easy to learn, but the back end is a nightmare. We have constant issues with our accounting software receiving data from LightSpeed.

Not at all. You need to pay for Pro or simply shop for another POS.

I wouldn't recommend the cloud to anyone.

They were always quick to try and help. Most questions just simply could not be answered in one phone call.

Nothing! We've been running smooth for over two years. Any issues I've had with software was because I skipped a setup step. They have been easy fixes.

Recommendations

Take time to watch the setup videos and read the setup step-by-step. If you skip certain setup steps, you will have issues that could have been avoided. (your mother was right; read all the instructions)

There are super robust product setup options, customer loyalty and discount options, and more. You can browse items via product images, which is way cool! The reports are clear and concise. Customer support does exist, and they pickup the phone.

Nothing right now. This is the best POS solution for the Mac platform.

I have tried many other solutions out there, but they don't come close to LightSpeed's pro build.

Not too hard to understanding, but there are lots of errors in software.

It collects data for credit cards, gives reports, and prints.

It broke in a month. I couldn't get any customer service, and I wish I'd went elsewhere.

No one helped; they just said someone will call. There was no reasonable response to broken devices.
