Retail Pro contains all the important features for retail management applications: point of sale, CRM, inventory management, merchandising, and accounting. This system has over 35,000 users all across the globe that specialize in every type of retail segment imaginable.
Retail Pro offers a point of sale system with store replenishment capabilities, product return management, and the ability to manage employee hours, attendance, and commissions. Customer information and loyalty can be tracked for marketing purposes, and orders can be placed for both special items and mass stock replenishment.
Retail Pro provides a number of tools for retailers to fine-tune their businesses. Retailers can better manage their stock levels with stock rebalancing, SKU tracking, and item performance metrics. Businesses that take web-orders can use the eCommerce application within Retail Pro to manage Internet sales. All of these initiatives can be measured using the key performance indicator (KPI) reporting within the business intelligence application.
The system is built on Delphi 7 and uses an Oracle 9i databse. Users can access it with a computer running Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows 7, and it can be deployed on Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro, and Windows 2003 servers. Retail Pro is offered as an on-premise system.. The Retail Pro Enterprise Integration Manager allows Retail Pro to be integrated with third-party ERP, MRP, and HR systems.
Retail Pro has an extensive network of dealers and partners, making it an attractive option for buyers looking for a robust system with local support.

We have asked our software vendor about having separate computers running the Retail Pro software, as we have done so in 2 locations in the past. We are looking to open our new location and would like our stores to be able to have two independent systems not one relying on the other to run. Our vendor, however, has told us this is not possible unless we pay an additional $10,000 per inventory seat/per computer basically to make each computer independent of the other. We just don't have $100,000 dollars laying around to be upgrading our systems to what we want.
If you are a big chain store, I would not recommend Retail Pro unless you have the capital to invest in this program, as it is not cheap to purchase nor is the yearly renewal fee they charge.
We paid thousands of dollars for their yearly registration fee and got nothing for it. Then we were told we needed to go from version 5 to 8 if we wanted support. They made no effort to tell us about bugs or upgrades to the system each year and they are still like that. I can't tell if it's the reseller/support company, Data business systems or if it is Retail Pro. I have called Retail Pro directly to try to get issues resolved and they never got back to me. Gift certificates are very difficult to do, you need to remember to put in a negative when you sell and positive to redeem. I don't understand how over 30,000 companies can use this program. It's good but not great!
