Square Register POS Software


 

Square Register POS is a mobile phone app available on Google Play and the App Store. The system is designed to run on a tablet or smartphone. Key capabilities include sales reports, inventory and digital receipts, as well as valuable analytics information.

The software provides regular free updates, which equip companies with new features to help run their business more effectively and efficiently. It also allows users to populate a spreadsheet with historic sales data for tax calculations.

Square Register works offline by providing a recording of transactions even when the Internet is down by storing the data locally, and automatically syncs all information when the user is connected again.

This sytem also offers the management of details such as names, quantities and prices, as well as features such as credit card processing, discounts, gift cards, refunds, barcode scanner and more.

Great system. I would definitely recommend it if you are starting a business as there are no monthly fees, you can track your inventory, use it for scheduling and do a whole lot of things in general with it.

Pros

Super easy to use, business friendly software and many different methods/tools for integration of other services including scheduling, gift cards, and more. Easy to use to track inventory also. Easy to understand financials.

Cons

The percentage they charge per transaction is reasonable but slightly more than other services I have encountered.

Pros

The Square register POS is an exceedingly easy to use solution for processing credit card transactions. Since they do not use a separate merchant bank or a gateway, you do not have to worry about calculating interchange plus rates, tier solutions, "claw backs" for premium credit cards and so on. Flat rate, easy to understand process and integrated software and hardware mean that you have one less thing to worry about when trying to run your business.

Cons

If you process more than $ a month in credit transactions, you may get a more competitive rate w a typical merchant bank solution. That being said, Square will offer custom pricing for high volume users after several months when you have a demonstrated high volume account.

I have recommended the SQUARE to all the schools within my district. We use it in our break store and students are using debit and credit cards to pay their school fees.

Pros

1. Easy to use
2. Safe
3. Very affordable
People/students no longer carry cash. This has increased our break store sales.

Cons

If the internet is down I'm in trouble during break time. I have to take student names and amount of purchase so I can charge them once the internet is back up and running. BUT...it's worth the time and effort.

We are new business owner. The general cost of opening is usually fairly high. The square is affordable POS system with the capabilities of receiving credit cards and track other methods of payment. We have appreciated the quality of this product, and how effortless it is to use.

Pros

There are so many reports giving you a great snapshot! You get a great overview of what is happening in your business. The item entry is a great feature helping to stay organized. The items can all be put in categories that your create. This tailors the experience to your business. You have to option to add sku # and pictures giving you options on how to search for your item. Checking out is easy giving you a split tender option. This tracks all payments making it useful for closing out at the end of the day. Payments are made quickly into your bank account.

Cons

While I still see the item entry as an amazing feature; it does not allow for quantity input which makes it not freat for inventory control. In Canada it does not accept debit or the debit card with the visa features. A secondary device is needed for debit transation. If you go.strickly with the square their is potential to lose sales for not offering this option.

I love that square deposits money into my account daily. Its like a revolving door. The software and app are also super easy to use. They have tutorials and there are lots of options for customizing.

Cons

I am lazy and have never actually utilized my square software to its maximum capacity. Also, sometimes the actual swiping device is fickle. I have to swipe several times before it works often. Otherwise, great product, and i hope to learn to use it better!

Great POS System for new companies.

Square has done wonders for our small business, it has almost everything you would need for a new business but there is somethings I didn't quite like. The system is great but there are some issues. To actually have track your inventory and have it sync up with Quickbooks required us to purchase Quickbooks online to be able to track our inventory and sync our daily sales. It was a little of a hassle but when it all comes down to it this register is great! I just wish it was designed more for a retail store or have that option when ordering the register. I haven't had any other complaints, it works well, user friendly, add as many products/items as you would need. Easy to use checkout for people without a good grasp of technology and how it works. I would honestly say this is a great POS system, very efficient and reliable! Plus you can download the app on your phone and accept payments where ever you are! That is the other great perk of this register!

Pros

Efficient, reliable, on the go app, easy to use, great for any store, easy to track your sales, keep costumer information that are repeats and order frequently, design and layout is simple and very easy on the eyes, it has two versions to layout your items, either a grid or a list so it is a personal preference of which you like to use, deposits your money that night.

Cons

Can't sync with Quickbooks unless you have Quickbooks Online, sometimes takes a while to start up and get going, the card swipe is very picky you HAVE to swipe it straight through or it doesn't accept the card (something that should be resolved soon I hope!) I just wish it wasn't only able to be used on Apple too. I am not a huge fan of Apple products. I would prefer to use a Samsung or Andriod tablet rather then a Ipad, but that is just a personal preference.

From my first try, Square POS was a POSitive experience. A real essential element is to find someone who is already using it and discuss with them their experience, then they may send you a link for an initial discount. Unfortunately, I didn't do this at first and opened an account, only to find the discount was available. Customer service was willing and able to make a quick shift of info and voila, I was linked to my friend and both received the discount. I was totally sold. I purchased the swipe/chip reader that plugs into my phone and it worked every time. I only use it on occasion with clients to process insurance co-pays but it is really easy.

I was not aware that my personal address would show up on a receipt sent to a client but I realized it just after sending it. Fortunately, no problems - so far. I was able to eliminate the address from subsequent receipts.

I have a high volume business that's I use square for. I like this POS system because it is user-friendly and very easy to teach my staff. My dislike is the cost/ transAction. Yes, the equipment is free when you start, but the percentage charge per transaction is much higher than other companies so it's not the cheapest option.

I love my Square app and card reader. I use it all the time. It's incredibly convenient. There are many great uses, too. If you're in business and your job takes you away from a traditional office, you can use Square to take payment on site. Take payments, get signatures, email or text receipts. It's also great in social settings. You never have to get stuck paying the dinner bill again because you're friends didn't bring cash. Money is almost always in my account by the next business day.

The SquareRegister POS provides a very simple, plug and go solution for setting up and using a cash register. It is very straightforward in setting up inventory, items, and employees. As a fast-paced, men's barber shop, we need sales transactions to be quick and easy, and SquareRegister POS delivers! Since management is off-site, we rely on excellent Dashboard reporting to keep us informed for remote management. The Employee Management modules to allow us to easily track sales by the employee (barber) for payroll purposes. The transparency of real-time credit card fees is another key component to running a small, growing business with no surprises!

Pros

We like the real-time look into the day's activity. With the Employee management module, it allows us to easily determine if we are over/under staffed at any point in our day. Being able to track the sales by year/month/week/day, we can more confidently create future staffing plans. The Sales Trend reporting provides a comparison to the previous day/week/month/year. Having the detail reporting from the Dashboard takes away the perceived notion of the health of my business and replaces it with factual data.

Cons

1. There is no 'Void' sale, only a 'Refund', so cashier errors are not accounted for. The sales that are 'refunded' show in my Gross Sales.
2. To track Sales per Employee (with Employee Management), each Employee has to log on and bring up his/her own sale. If 2 or more employees should get credit for the items one customer buys, then each sale/employee must be rung up separately (logging on) and the customer's card swiped (read) multiple times.
