excellent program for architecture and design
I like the speed to model and the possibility of raising 3D at the same time that one designs in plan and also the complementary information that can be obtained from the models
PROSI appreciate the interface and that the work board can be customized according to the requirements of each project
CONSit has so many functions that it becomes difficult to manage or get the full potential of the application
Reason for choosing Revit
because I already knew the autodesk interface and how easy it was to implement
Reasons for switching to Revit
to be at the forefront of the market

Revit for interior design
In general, Revit seems to me to be a very complete program when it comes to designing and that allows you to determine areas and quantities, which is very important when developing a project.
PROSI like how easy it is to model and how you can have a full 2D and 3D view at the same time. I am also an interior designer and I like how the program also adapts for these details
CONSwhen creating sheets you cannot repeat the plan views so we have to create copies to use them in other sheets

If I win the lottery
If I won the lottery I'd buy Revit and sell it to another competent company like ArchiCad or Sketchup.
PROSIt did the mundane relatively quickly like schedules and elevations.
CONSPathetic updates and implementation of necessary updates and features.
Reason for choosing Revit
Practically had to.
Reasons for switching to Revit
The industry is using this pathetic software because it's the only one large firms use.

Best BIM software for Architects and Engineers (students as well)
It is lovely! Tried several other products and this is still the easiest to use and my favorite. Still use it till date and don’t think I am gonna stop anytime soon as long as I am practicing architecture.
PROSRevit is one of the best and easy BIM software one can easily get started on. The features are easy to learn how to use. I love the fact it is easy to bring in other file types like cad files, pdfs, images and you can also export in so many different formats. Revit makes team work easy with the work sharing feature and the fact it allows for so many other professions like civil engineers, electrical to be able to carry out their own works on it as well. It is one of the best platform that works with so many other softwares easily like sketchup, rhinoceros and grasshopper, 3dmax, vray, enscape. It also has it's own simple in built rendering software. Revit considers educators and students and let them have access to the softwares for free!
CONSAlthough really good, revit does not allow for newer versions of the software to open files from older versions except if the file is upgraded to the new version which sometimes data can be lost. You can't open newer files in older versions and there is no option for a downgrade like the upgrade. Also, the cost of the software is high. As much as they offer it free for students and educators, if you don't fall in this category it can be quite expensive to purchase especially for those who probably don't earn a lot.
Reasons for switching to Revit
Cause I found revit easier!

revit potential
Excellent for teamwork coordination, quantification, save time between 3d modeling and planimetry.
PROSThat allows me to make 3d at the same time that I am preparing plans and quantities.Review and coordination are tools that make work much easier, as is worksharing.
CONSThe price is very expensive, at least for professionals who work independently and small companies that cannot afford an annual subscription

Easy-to-use and highly useful app for users
Revit is a powerful software for managing drawings, quantitative and qualitative architectural design materials. Integrant among professionals in the area, basic among students.
PROSA product that integrates several functionalities with other software and represents a large part of the BIM market.
CONSI didn't find points that made me give up using it. I consider it a very useful professional tool.

Powerful, but space consuming
Overall is definitely positive. Program allows students to learn basics (and more) of architectural design. Some more expansive tutorials would be nice as only beginner workflow has really proven useful for students.
PROSIt is very easy for beginning users to become quickly proficient by following tutorials. The software is also very robust. Students can design, furnish and create renderings/walkthroughs all within the same program. They can also import any components not included in the software from a number of support pages as well as some vendors who have created .rvt files of their products that allow it to be put into the space digitally with all correct measurements.
CONSVery robust, but takes up so much disk space it sometimes freezes computer before even opening. A LT version may be beneficial, but an entirely online version, even if it's a "light" version, would be preferred. Students aren't using all available features so it would be nice if the education version took less space, so students could have access on computers other than the one lab with enough computing power to run the software.
Reason for choosing Revit
Until moving to paid version sketchup was not as friendly for architectural design.

Revit is great!
Good and bad. Good in that after two weeks of using Revit I did NOT want to use AutoCAD ever again. Bad in that getting our users to make the switch has taken time and resources. Figure on about 1-2 years to fully move from AutoCAD to Revit. The move is worth it, though.
PROSThe term "One source of truth" describes Revit well. You can produce hundreds of drawings from one 3D model. Change any drawing or the model and every drawing reflects that change. In AutoCAD, you would have to open up several drawings to make those changes. Revit, you change something in one place and you're done. Likewise we love the database Revit is. You can include any amount of information in your model that you want and present that information in schedules.
CONSMoving from AutoCAD to Revit can be difficult and frustrating for many people. Revit is a very complex software and takes a while to learn but it is well worth the pain. Some of the best benefits like changing something in one spot can also be a curse because it may have unintended consequences in other views, but that's just something you get used to and learn to resolve.
Reasons for switching to Revit
The world is moving from CAD to BIM just as it moved from paper drafting to CAD 30 years ago. If you want to remain competitive, you need to move to BIM and Revit is the current leader in BIM.

Great software for great ideas
Revit speed the drawing process to an 80%. I will recommend to use Revit to architectural and engineering firms.
PROSThis software is easy to use, specially if you come from the AutoCAD background. I like the fact that I am working tri-dimensionally and see esthetics of my projects almost immediately. Also, Revit has a huge library with parametric components that I can access. Another cool thing is that Revit can be use to measure the environmental impact of my models if my clients are interested.
CONSIn order to create nice quality renderings, I need to use other software (s) in combination with Revit because using Revit by itself will give me clunky images with a "computer" look, that as an project manager, I don't think my clients will enjoy.
Reasons for switching to Revit
Because for architects, working tri-dimensional is much better. Give you a perception of what you are designing.

Insightful design software
Considering the compatibility with other Autodesk applications and helpful features such as 2D and 3D drawing, BIM modeling, presentation tools this is a great application to use. But it comes with a larger price tag. Can be used for many purposes and currently, this is the industry standard for designing. Designing complex structures will be harder but considering advantages and disadvantages this is a good application to use.
PROSAnother great solution from Autodesk. In Revit, we have the ability to draw, design, and model structures depending on our needs. With tools to draw in 2D and easily model it into 3D, Revit is the solution architectures and civil engineers have been looking for. And especially with modeling and presentation tools Revit is the whole package. This package can be effectively used for architectural, structural, HVAC, and MEP modeling. And with enhanced support from other Autodesk applications, Revit seems like the industry-standard design software.
CONSThe main disadvantage is the higher price value for Revit. So middle and startup companies have to think twice before purchasing Revit. Also somewhat harder to create complex models. And for a beginner, this would be harder to learn and use.
Reasons for switching to Revit
Revit had more users therefore tutorials and increased support. Also, Revit faster and more user friendly.
