Essential Urban Design Tool
Beyond Typicals has become a standard practice for us at Bolton & Menk, and is primed to raise the bar for the entire transportation industry.
PROSThe ease of creating visually stunning typical sections to enhance projects. Sections transition seamlessly from design discussions to public engagement in minutes without needing to engage visualization experts.
CONSEnhanced features can take some practice to refine. Software price tag is steep, but pays for itself upon use.

Reasons for switching to Beyond Typicals
Even though Beyond Typicals is more expensive, the output is exponentially better than what other typical section rendering software can produce.

Impressive with Beyond Typicals
Beyond Typicals brings an impressive visual representation, with several adjustments not available in similar software.
CONSThe technical engineering and architectural drawing left something to be desired, especially in relation to the limitations of the annotations.
Reasons for switching to Beyond Typicals
I have been using StreetPlan.net which generates more appropriate annotations, however the quality of the visualizations and the 3D model led me to Beyond Typicals

A great experience with BT
I liked the flexibility, ease of use and the ability to make components that are not there given the different natures of projects done. It helps us, professionals, get the messsaeg accross to the public and to the client in the simplest form.
CONSIt is a very heavy software that caused my device to crash multiple tiem while building the cross sections or rendering them. It is also very expensive.

The 3D aspect of BT is very appealing to clients and stakeholders

First Impressions Beyond Typicals
It's been really good. Beyond Typicals hits the sweet spot between 2d illustration software and 3d visualization software. You can't do everything, but that's a strength because it keeps the software easy to use and learn.
PROSReally easy to use, nice library of 3d objects. The photo compositing works well.
CONSI'd like more font choices for the labels. It would be nice if I could have the section hold at the centerline as lanes etc. are added. If I'm not adding equally to both sides I need to keep adjusting the alignment offset - for example to hold an existing curb. It's pricy, if you buy it , use it a lot.

Simple, intuitive, design solutions
The overall experience has been great, and customer service/troubleshooting with [sensitive content hidden] has been top notch.
PROSThe ease of creating a typical section in a few minutes is amazing, and being able to tap into [sensitive content hidden] knowledge and excellent customer service has been great!
CONSI find that using the software really slows down my computer, even after getting a new, higher powered computer with the proper specs. There are also a few things that are difficult (or impossible) to do with Beyond Typicals that would be really helpful - such as drawing a bridge over a roadway, or generating an interseciton.
