Billy Software


 

Billy is a cloud-based accounting application for small businesses and freelancers in all industries. Primary features include billing, invoicing, quote management, contact management, accounting, expense management and financial reporting.

Other features include estimate creation, discount and refund processing, bank reconciliation, bank statement import, tax management and multiple-currency support. The software enables users to create customized invoices, mail them to clients and receive online payments.

Billy also has a recurring invoice feature that automatically sends invoices to clients and charges their credit card. The software can add discounts when applicable and processes refunds. The tax management module automatically adds taxes depending on the client’s location. The financial reporting module generates profit and loss reports, balance sheets, tax summaries, customer statements, accounts receivable and other reports.

Pricing is per month, and mobile applications for Android and iOS devices are available. Support is offered via phone and email.

The design of it, and how easy it is to use. Also their customer service is amazing. They are very responsive.

Cons

It's still somewhat new, so they are still rolling out features that we are looking forward to. We are waiting on a few in particular.

Looks pretty. Wish I could have used it. Looks amazing from the surface. Customer support was terrible.

Cons

I don't know WHEN I have more frustrated with a companies 'service'. VERY frustrated. I was excited about this deal and jumped right on it. I tried syncing with my Cap One Spark business account (from my phone) and it didn't work so I emailed asking if this really wasn't an option. I got a list of 9501 banks emailed to me NOT in alphabetical order. What am I supposed to do with that?

I tried the chat option and explained when I added my cap one account it pulled in my PERSONAL banking details and not my business accounts which made no sense. They told me to talk to cap one, which I did.

Then I tried adding my business account info again and it kept reverting back to my previously synched personal accounts. Frustrating. So I went ahead and added my personal bill account and then deleting it and hoping that would work. Nope.

I tried calling over and over and it was always busy. They take forever to respond on chat and were not helpful at all. I finally got ahold of them and they said they dont have phone support.

That's right on the dashboard when new users sign in. I get ahold of them via chat and Joshua suggesting 'bombing' the account and starting over which I did. He said 24 hours later I could try again and hopefully it would work that time. Even though nobody did anything to help it work the next time but maybe so.

Here we are over 24 hours later and, of course, it pulls up my personal (not business) info.

I give up. Incredibly frustrated by the terrible response, being sent a list of 10k sites to dig through, being given a number they DON'T answer, having chat and not being very available.

Ease of billing but since it lacks some integrations, it is not useful at the moment.

Pros

I like the capabilities and customizations but they're team is not capable of taking this software to the next level.

Cons

The dev team and management. Not willing to take constructive criticism thus not allowing the app to grow to full potential, so it lacks crucial features and integrations.

I really like the electronic invoice transmittal - it adds a lot of validity to my company, as does the ability to pay electronically.

Pros

Billy is very easy to use, with lots of tutorials to help you set it up correctly, the first time.
As a cloud-based solution, it can be accessed from anywhere, on any platform.
It has all the functionality needed in an accounting platform, at a very inexpensive price.
The team is constantly developing/tweaking areas within the application, providing even more functionality while making it even easier to use.

Makes the thing I like to do the least bearable and quick

Ease of use and small learning curve. LOve the ability to collect payments through credit card and reconciles with my bank account for PL

None except I can send an automated invoice but can't-do automated charge. Not the software fault just would be one more nice thing to have.

This software was used for invoicing our clients and managing expenses. We are transitioning (slowly but surely) to only using this for all our invoicing needs.

Pros

I like how you can setup accounts for your employees to log in to send invoices, This software allows you to setup recurring monthly invoicing (which is awesome). You can upload your receipts and keep track of expenses all in the same app.

Cons

The invoicing can be a bit of a hassle until you get all the items input into the system. But, it does work great. I can't update my banking information yet. I contacted support and they are aware of the issue with my bank, and they are getting it fixed and said in October it should be up and running. This is a new company and I do love the platform so I don't mind. I think this was a great investment for my business.

It works really well, was easy to setup, and has helped create more of a professional feel to my small company.

Pros

Billy is incredibly simple to use and creates professional invoices/payment system. I can easily maintain all of my businesses billing needs.

Cons

Might not be as feature rich as a system like quick books. There is a certain about of cost of goods tracking that I can tell would be more complicated using billy.

Made my life way easier when doing business in multiple Countries. Accounting is a serious thing, and Billy is used by many companies.

Pros

Ok, I got this software to help our company with our accounting. We have clients in multiple countries and with different currencies, so Billy is super easy to use and if you need the support is fast.

Billy is also a double entry software, which means its fully compliant with the rules of accountant.
I know, accounting is boring, but at least with Billy can be easy.

Cons

One thing that bothers me is the lack of recurrent charges. They do have recurrent invoices capabilities, but the recurrent charges would be an awesome add-on.

They said they will add it, if they really do, the software will have ALL an entrepreneur needs to keep things by the book:)

The price and functionality. It streamlined my billing and organized the products I bill for which gives me a great way to organize my business. I's the no hassle billing/expenses accounting software I needed after tying the bloated/expensive enterprise offerings. Reconciling payments and expenses is a breeze .

clean and easy to use interface. functionalty wouldnt be bad. support is reacting and friendly. page is loading fast.

wouldn´t be that bad. but at the moment it´s only english and danish. so in most countries the invoices won´t count. problem is that you cant change most of the invoice text fields. change VAT to Ust ... for example. but lets see whats happening in the next months

Loyalty from my clients, Easy access to help and advice them for they everyday matters.

Pros

Simplicity, clean interface and free customizing of Chart of accounts.
Lot options for exporting in xls format (i love excel).

Cons

It have some minor things about local settings and shortcuts but it minor things! Thanks to friendly support i don't worry.

They support all major currencies, and some international banks. Have to request if your bank isn't supported.
All transaction fees are with the payment processor you use, either Paypal or Strip.

Cons

Doesn't seem Cannot change the VAT value to suit different country.
No language translations.
No paypal payments... only Stripe is available.

I'm able to view my invoices from any computer and don't have to search for them

Pros

I love that I am able to add images to the invoices is a great feature and having the picture there makes it easier to look up the cost of an item if I ever need to use it again.

Cons

I wish you were able to see if and when the client opened the invoice. I had a few clients tell me they did not receive the invoice. They did eventually find the email after I had them check their spam folder.

Accepting credit card payments from customers via Stripe.

Pros

We enjoy the simplicity of the Billy software. The ability to invoice customers and give them options on paying their invoices Has made this process easy. We do not need to sign up with a merchant account service.

Cons

The reconciliation part of Billy is a bit cumbersome and difficult to learn. I believe a little more use and learning will make this easier.

The software is quite easy to input a invoice or expense. UX is very friendly to me, and I like the user interface.

Cons

The software is not compatible with Chinese. Furthermore the tax policy is not same as Taiwanese tax policy. It's really such a shame.

Cons

Customer management has incredibly limited options. We have customers with multiple addresses etc. No customer note field. Email invoices to more than one email at a time.

It's very easy to use. It has all the features I need to successfully manage my accounting, it even helps me to manage it more accurately and efficiently. I have to say the customer service is exceptional and they helped make the transition from QB to Billy seamless.

Cons

Sometimes there are a few extra steps to enter data that I'm not used to but once I learn the flow, it's pretty easy.
