Great Product... will grow with your church - Used at a previous church and just got for new church

PROS

If you are a small church that needs a good online database that doesn't break the bank, this is it. There are numerous features that you can choose what fits your particular ministry and have everything in one area... instead of needing 4-5 different programs to do it all. One of the best things is that you can add more and more names and then simply pay to upgrade to the next level as your church grows, so you don't have to waste money for a database of 1,000 if you only have 70 in your church currently! But (hopefully) as your church grows, you will have the finances to have the program expand with you. I also enjoy ChurchTrac as a pastor, because I can log in on my phone or iPad from wherever I am making a visit to add notes about the visit. We have also added multiple volunteers users who want to help make visits, send cards, make phone calls, etc who can add notes when they do so; there are great restriction capabilities available, so I can allow volunteers access to these note areas without allowing them access to giving records or more confidential pastoral counseling notes. We have also integrated this into our children's ministry/nursery area and purchased a Dymo label printer to give each child a name badge upon check in with emergency phone numbers and allergy warnings. Finally, the congregation access is awesome, so everyone can update their own information or get their own giving records whenever they would like to check!

CONS

A few of the reporting features are somewhat limited and not able to be as customized as I would like, but this is such a minor issue compared to all the Pros that it's hardly worth mentioning... but it was a required field so I had to come up with something. I did have an issue when I wanted to add more volunteer users, but it was fixed within an hour of opening the ticket due to their AMAZING customer service!

Just Getting Started

Just getting started. I have watched many of the online tutorials and written several help requests.

PROS

Online so I can access Churchtrac from church or home. and it is not a spreadsheet.

CONS

The concepts or big picture of how churchtrac accounting works is still somewhat allusive to me.

Reasons for switching to ChurchTrac

It was too complicated for our small church and volunteer users. We were using a spreadsheet to manage our fund balances and it was no longer sustainable.

New Update Made Things Complicated

PROS

I like that I can send messages by text to many people at one time. I like that I can look up the information I need in one place and it is somewhat organized.

CONS

The latest update made it extremely difficult to log in on a small device such as a phone. We use this software to send prayer requests to members on our prayer chain. When I go to log in on my phone the Church Trac logo now blocks the login information so I can't see what I am typing. I am not able to adjust the screen size or information in your software. The next thing is how many things I have to click on to get to a point where I can send a text message to the right group of people. It was easier before the update. Thirdly the limited number of characters makes it very challenging to give enough information about the prayer request. 150 characters is just not enough. There were other things that were changed in the update as well, such as "offering" changing from being an income to being put under expenses, which doesn't makes sense. Who pays their congregation to go to church? How can that be an expense?

Very Friendly and Easy to Use

Have had a good experience with all of it. Especially with inquiries. Churchtrac is great at getting quick responses and working at resolving any issues.

PROS

The ease of inputting and tracking of donations and member information

CONS

Setting up report pages (margins, size, etc). Some reports I wanted to customize were a little challenging but doable. Mainly because I dont have all the expertise in customizing reports anyway.

Accounting firm gave us limited access to reports and we also had to do the inputting ourselves. So if we were going to do the inputting of donations, might as well purchase a software that met all the needs of donation recording and accounting matters.

New church plant

It took awhile to set up but I was self taught and had a lot of moving parts to incorporate. So far my members are extremely impressed with the user interface and the admin account is working great for me. We will build our church directory this way which is also a huge savings of time and money. I really like that I was able to drop quick books and pay for this with a little less a month. All of the features we get with Churchtrac would be hundreds a month if it had to pay for it individually. I like that we can do backgrround checks right in the system and the other add in apps like sms. I have used planning center before and for us this is a way better system and easier to use. Thank you for supporting churches in this way.

PROS

I love how easy it is to set up and use the product. There is an app that church members can use. I also love that they can see their annual giving online and that they are grouped by families with individual profiles. I set up the whole account on my own in a day.

CONS

Not having a phone number to call when I needed help. You can schedule something for a future call but that wasn't what I needed. I figured stuff out on my own but a support line would have been helpful.

Reason for choosing ChurchTrac

We are a new church plant so price was our biggest concern. I also wanted something that would grow with us so we wouldn't have to switch later. The services we need were all wrapped into one great price with Churchtrac and even at unlimited names/users it is still less than the starting point monthly cost with other products.

ChurchTrac Is The Best

it has been a great experience for several years. The software is very easy to use and the support is awesome. I love being able to talk to a real person and you guys are the best.

I have used for several years and it is the most user friendly software. The Support Team is awesome. It is the perfect software for a Church.

CONS

I was using ChurchTrac at another church when the Payroll was dropped, this is a feature that I really miss. Actually that is my only Con with the software.

Great Church Management System Option

ChurchTrac has and continues to be capable of everything we needed and most of what we want. ChurchTrac's navigation is fairly straightforward, which is great, and their support posts tend to be helpful for everything that's not straightforward. ChurchTrac is capable of more than what we are using it for - which equates to some good goals for us to move towards things we COULD be doing. Customer service has been efficient when it is needed as well.

PROS

-Compared to what we were using, ChurchTrac is much easier to use! -The ease of getting new users familiar with the basics -Ability to personalize quite a few reports and exports for multiple uses -Overall ability to edit and find information -Customer support is rather efficient and helpful

CONS

-Some things really need some digging to find, but they can be found -Some personalizing would/has require an outside coding expert, but that is to be expected with what ChurchTrac is (want to make it so your child check-in is fool proof? you might need a coding expert) -Wish it integrated MORE with services like MailChimp (more than exporting to MailChimp), but ChurchTrac is transparent in what it does. This isn't unexpected.

Reason for choosing ChurchTrac

The overall startup costs for RockRMS really made the decision for our church. We felt that both ChurchTrac and RockRMS would do what we needed and most of what we wanted (Rock can do everything you want if you have access to a coding expert), and at the end of the day the ease and lower cost of setup with ChurchTrac won us over. Otherwise we felt we were comparing apples and oranges, both great fruits but so different that it's hard to compare them. There's a reason RockRMS is unique, and a great option.

Reasons for switching to ChurchTrac

ChurchPro, or at least the version we were using, was chunky and hard to use for the average user. Their business model also made it difficult to get customer support without paying, and since it was hard to use this was a huge con for us. Only the staff members who had to use it were using it, that's not the intent of a church management system. Half the information was outdated since it was so rarely used. It did what was needed.

New improvements are AMAZING!

I feel my records are more accurate.

PROS

ChurchTrac recently started to automatically import online giving from Stripe to my register on the day the donation was given, plus shows the date in my register when the payment clears the bank. Oh, and the Stripe fees are shown as well with each transaction. This will save me so much time and reduce my own errors. Plus reconciliation of my accounts is so easy. It has cut down my time that I spent on month end procedures. The online help topics, online webinars and videos are very helpful. I must say, too, how wonderful the support people are! I'm doing this job for my church with a very limited financial/accounting background. Whenever I had a question, they answer quickly and continue to help me until I get my issue resolved.

CONS

I had used the free ChurchTrac 9 program (about 2 years) and thought it would be an easy switch to the online version. However, I was thrown for a loop because I was also learning the online giving parts/pieces in addition to the newer software. Some things were not intuitive for me, but it could be that I was overwhelmed in trying to get everything underway in a short time, plus finance/accounting is not second nature for me. Now that I'm three months in, I'm starting to understand it better. Some of the reports could be improved. It would be nice to have the budget analysis report a bit larger for readability.

Reason for choosing ChurchTrac

When I looked at Tithe.ly, I didn't realize that ChurchTrac had the same capabilities for online giving. I truly only wanted one program for everything, so ChurchTrac made much more sense.

Best church management tool for the price!

I would say that the thing that I like the most about ChurchTrac are the videos on YouTube that are provided for training.

CONS

I would like there to be an option to provide a separate way for people to donate through text without having to be registered.

Great product, price, customer support

PROS

The price is what initially drove me to ChurchTrac as a CRM since it is tiered and comparatively inexpensive. It does much of what I need. One of the things that has kept me with it is the amazing customer support -- usually have an answer within an hour. It integrates seamlessly with MailChimp and they keep developing it more and more with user feedback. The other major benefit of the software is that giving, scheduling, and database are all in one place so once people access it, they can access everything. Online giving is easy via ChurchTrac and the costs are lower than the alternative.

CONS

It is a little bit clunky in some aspects. One of my least favorite is that when you are creating an event to schedule people to serve, like weekly Sunday services, you have to create each one individually. While you can use a template, you still have to enter every single Sunday. For a church scheduling software, it seems like it should be a no-brainer that you can create weekly meetings with the same roles each time so that all you have to do is assign people. Another critique I have is that some aspects are dated -- like automatically creating a formal greeting for a family to be "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith". Few people use that designation any more so I have to go in and change it for each family I enter.

Value was the initial driver but the customer service and lower cost for donating online has kept us.

Great Program... Needs an App

We have loved the experience and updates with this software. They are constantly improving and creating new features.

I wish it had an app for the membership to use, instead of everything being done in a browser.

Great platform, especially for smaller churches

We can keep track of membership, finances, worship, and many other routine things we need in one place, and we can have access to it from anywhere.

PROS

It does what we need without giving us things that we don't that increase its cost. And it does it in an easy to use way so that others can come on board with it easily.

CONS

We're still learning all the ins and outs of the accounting piece, and the reconciliation process could be easier if we didn't have to try reconciling all the way from the beginning but could go on a month by month with our bank statements.

Reasons for switching to ChurchTrac

It was clunky, still operated like it did 20 years ago, we only had access on one computer, and it was hard to get the information out that we needed.

Church Employee User Friendly!

We Love ChurchTrac

I'm the pastor of a small church and needed help with the administration, accounting and budget work. I obviously wanted to go with a software based option. A "Google" search revealed ChurchTrac and it appeared to be a good price. It was certainly competitively priced. ChurchTrac was been an amazing tool for our church. It provides our church with everything we need and even more. There are a lot of features we hope to use as we grow. Accounting and budgeting related work is easily tracked. At any moment I can report in detail to the congregation on these matters. ChurchTrac is so user-friendly, but they also offer helpful technical support if needed.

PROS

We really love the accounting and budget features in ChurchTrac. I began using ChurchTrac specifically for this function, but soon realized it was also a great way to track people and attendance. It's difficult to say what I like most, but I do love the new Church Connect feature. Basically our church has an app now. Members can login and update their own information. It might seem like a small thing, but I'm excited about the fact that members can login and see their own giving. They can literally download the giving report weI generate for tax purposes. We are loving the new features. Oh, and "bulk emailing" options. We definitely hope to use this function more.

CONS

ChurchTrac continues to improve and evolve so we haven't used every feature yet. Honestly, I really can't think of anything we don't like. Of course, I don't really have much experience with other products for a comparison. The church was using "Churchsoft" before I became the pastor and I found it very difficult to use. ChurchTrac seems so simple and we love it.

It seemed like a good price for the product and I liked the name, "ChurchTrac."

A review worth the read, a product worth the price

PROS

Churchtrac allows my team to access the database at anytime to make needed changes. These changes range from financial account management, to printing reports that allow transparency and a checks and balances, and database management on the people. One feature that I found to be a hidden gem is church connect. If your church is considering on making a switch, this feature is a game changer. It provides the look of an app! The cards in this feature provide flawless navigation and event registration for any and all upcoming events your church or organization may hold.

CONS

Churchtrac possibly could have this feature and as I write this, I most likely will discover it soon in the software. The easiest way to explain is pointing you to what this feature would look like. One feature that I would love to see is a reporting feature like church metrics provided. It provides graphics and charts of weekly attendance.

The Small Church and ChurchTrac

I have been incredibly surprised at the scope of ChurchTrac and the fact that our small, rural congregation has such an incredibly affordable option. I wholeheartedly recommend ChurchTrac to any church in need of all-in-one software to manage their church membership information and finances.

PROS

I love the ease of use most of all. ChurchTrac program is well-designed and provides the resources needed to do the work of our church. Having been the Administrative Pastor of a Houston area mega church using popular, sophisticated, well-known large church name brand software, I can say ChurchTrac has everything we need without all the complication. It doesn't take a team of people to keep it updated. The accounting software portion of the software is amazing! Of course, I can't say enough about the Customer Service. They are always available and quick to respond, usually within minutes. You don't get that with other major software programs.

CONS

Sometimes, the reports may not have the ability to provide a specific bit of information and the reports can't be altered. However, the basics are there and they are always working to improve the program. Those requests aren't ever critical needs, just a minor preferences.

Church Management Simplified

ChurchTrac has been a life saver for our church. We had been struggling with our previous (now out of business) software and it reached the point where our secretary was ready to quit. We switched to ChurchTrac and with the ease of implementation we gained total control over our information and found out exactly what was going on at our church. That was probably about 10 years ago and I can say our church secretary is still with us and is a strong supporter of ChurchTrac. We are a small church, but I had recommended ChurchTrac to a large church about a year ago and they also love it. I will also say that the support we receive has been outstanding in that it is accurate and fast.

PROS

The accounting portion is extremely powerful. All the other features work well, and it doesn't take much to time if any to use those features. In addition, its simplicity means you do not have to hire highly trained personnel to run the system. And, as an added plus it doesn't take hours each week to use thus saving your church labor costs.

CONS

Can't think of a single one but the developers are constantly finding ways to improve the system.

We tested it and it seemed so much better than anything else. In addition, it was inexpensive and as a smaller church we could afford it.

We had to as our previous product was just not working as was just to complicated.

Thank God for Churchtrac!

The product is an exceptional value and provides our small congregation with a platform that we would not be able to normally afford. From the beginning, Churchtrac has been true to their mission and have consistently introduced new features accompanied by quality support. Because of Churchtrac, we had a familiar platform to help us maintain communication with our members and supporters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using the Connect feature allowed us to be accessible to them and to others. As the congregational leader, having Churchtrac has part of our minstry gives me more confidence when casting vision, developing plans, and making operational decisions. Whether I am moved by the Holy Spirit at 2am or someone brings something to my attention at 2pm, Churchtrac is just a series of keystrokes and clicks away.

PROS

What I like most about Churchtrac is it's value. I don't know of another "Church" platform that offers the features and the consistent platform development they offer for the price point.

CONS

Churchtrac is a bit "clunckie" and has a learning curve. But Churchtrac's support provides step-by-step instructions and is responsive when the videos and documentation aren't enough.

New ChurchTrac Congregation

I can't say enough good about what a great experience it has been to work with ChurchTrac so far. I'm sure most of our questions have been rudimentary to experienced users but when we get stuck on some special feature, or special formatting, or such we lauch a support ticket with a click and in a few minutes we get a helpful reply back. It has been a very smooth experience, which I appreciate being one of the admins.

PROS

ChurchTrac is very straight-forward and easy to use. The training of staff and other users has been smooth. Having many short videos available on specific topics has been wonderfully helpful. We took advantage of the 30 day evaluation with our real membership records and we are very happy ChurchTrac makes this service available. It convinced us to take the next step.

CONS

Hard to say at this point, as we as such new users, working our way along the user experience. Our improvement in member communication has been a huge early win for us. Accounting though is harder for us to evailuate. Our plan is to run our legacy accounting and ChurchTrac accounting in parallel for a time so that we can better understand what ChurchTrac has to offer us.

Reason for choosing ChurchTrac

ChurchTrac appeared to have a great training presence, (which is true). We needed something cloud-based and distributed. An office only based, desktop-based model was not going to work for us. The ChurchTrac Church Connect mobile web feature is huge for us. The pricing model of ChurchTrac is very fair and we are a small congregation, so that was a factor.

Reasons for switching to ChurchTrac

Church Windows served us well for many, many years. We were simply ready to make a quantum leap into a whole new way of managing our church.

ChurchTrac makes my job so much easier!

I love how easy the systems is to use, and how great the customer service is for whenever I have a question or a problem. When I create a help ticket I get a response usually within minutes or at the most an hour, but never more than that! I love the fact that they offer great training opportunities to be able to learn about existing or new features and functions!

PROS

I have been using ChurchTrac since 2013 and it is a very easy system to use and understand the functionality of. I am by no means tech savvy but am able to navigate the system with no problems at all, and I like that it makes my job so much easier! ChurchTrac offers so many training opportunities with the ChurchTrac users FB group, YouTube videos and webinars.

CONS

Right now I cannot think of any cons, other than there are so many new features being released sometimes it takes a moment for me to catch up to the training that is being offered, but that is not a bad thing!

Reason for choosing ChurchTrac

I formerly worked at a different church and ChurchTrac was already the software system they used. When I came to church I work at, it was already what they were using, too!
