The best out there, and getting better

Forecastr has dramatically improved my ability to project my business's performance, and my ability to demonstrate a commercial opportunity to prospective investors.

Pros:

The framework that Forecastr employs to build financial models puts it in a league of its own. If you have ever built a financial model in a spreadsheet, you understand the tangled web of relationships between assumptions that quickly become nearly impossible to work with. Forecastr brings those assumptions to the forefront, and gives users the power to effortlessly experiment with those assumptions and understand their downstream effects.

Cons:

While very few, there are specific features that aren't always intuitive, or that feel lacking. That said, having the ability to work 1:1 with a Forecastr analyst ensures that I never stay stuck for long, and ultimately am able to customize my model to meet my needs. And, several of the "UX bugs" I've seen have been resolved since I first adopted Forecastr—the team is constantly improving the product.

It was immediately clear that Forecastr offers features built specifically for the financial modeling use-case—and was built in a way that makes it more intuitive than other products claiming to offer a similar solution.

Hard to think of anything! I guess their CEO tried to help us when it became clear that we were getting nothing from the product - he at least got on the phone with us, but was unwilling to hear our feedback and basically just dug in and insisted the tool worked.

Cons:

Forecastr says they integrate with quickbooks - our experience showed otherwise. We have Mercury as our banking, and pass records into quickbooks, and Forecastr couldn't import through that path. The team said that it *was* doing that, however, even when we could very easily, very quickly show the missing records. The team kept insisting their product worked on calls, and when we showed them it didn't, they just.... said it was doing what they wanted it to do? Anyways we spent $4,000 and ended up spending a bunch of time on calls with these folks and got absolutely nowhere. They refused to refund even when it was clear we got nothing from the product. Pretty wild!

Pros:

I liked thinking about the business and my assumptions rather than how to create what I wanted in Excel. That's the biggest value for me. With Forecastr, you can focus on what you plan to do and when you plan to do it rather than getting bogged down in calculations.

Cons:

There were some limitations in the product that required workarounds. But I'm so thankful that I stuck with it. Permissions need to be more granular to allow for other people to work on the forecast without seeing everything. That's a serious feature issue that should be addressed. Forecasting and budgeting is a collaborative effort so we need better permission to enable that collaboration.

I have been working with Forecastr for over a year now. And they continue to amaze me.

Overall, I always recommend them when the conversation of forecasting comes up. They are not overpriced like Jirav, and not overly simplified LivePlan

Pros:

Customer support has been a smile-worthy interaction. Forecasting can be either an oversimplified event or an extremely tedious and complex task. Forecastr attempts to tackle the latter task by removing the tedium as much as possible. There is still a good amount of work involved, but they truly help walk you through the process and build it out with you.

Cons:

There is a currently a bit of a lack of integration, but that is expected at the stage they are at.

Reasons for choosing Forecastr

Futrli is the only one that I would consider as a comparison. Jirav is way overpriced with an ugly display. Liveplan is extraordinarily tedious, rigid, and overly simplified.

A Financial Crystal Ball for Startups!

Happy, Satisfied, and Confident. Happy - because I dont like financial modeling nor do I like complex spreadsheets that are cumbersome and have faulty formulas. Now thats off my list. Satisfied - the software a ton of value at a great price. We saved a TON of money on additional resources we would need in our Finance Department, including a CFO. Confident - I know our financial situation and how we are forecasting for the future. This allows me to have great insight as to when we need additional capital and when that time comes - I have all the proper financial information to put in the pitch deck.

Pros:

Forecastr gives us the confidence and true transparency into our financial situation and how we budget our spending. Its clearly presented and very easily transformed into slides or any supporting documents. The software allows to try various financial assumptions and scenarios which gives us the ability to be creative in our corporate strategies.

Cons:

There are no obvious cons. The feature set is robust and rich enough for any type of startup.
