Patriot Accounting includes the ability to track expenses, income, and overall financial transactions through a comprehensive Chart of Accounts system. This feature allows users to manage asset, liability, equity, income, and expense accounts with ease. The platform also enables users to create and manage unlimited customer invoices, ensuring that businesses can send, receive, and track invoices efficiently without losing oversight of financial obligations.

A notable feature of Patriot Accounting is its vendor payment capabilities. Users can make unlimited payments to vendors, manage these transactions seamlessly within the platform, and even print checks directly from the system. Pros:

Intergration is a quick process with great customer support.

Cons:

I had to use the help desk for sick/vacation/PTO. Most parts of Patriot Software are intuitive, and you can explore till you find them, except a PTO adjustment.

Small Engineering Firm Experience

Very positive experience. I am not an account or bookkeeper. It is simple enough with a little help from tech support I am able to keep track of my accounting and hand it over to my accountant at years end to close out my books.

Pros:

Great value for the money. The learning curve was very short and I was able to import my Quickbooks company data some what painlessly.

Cons:

I would like my invoices to have a different mail to address other than my company address. I would like payments to be sent to a PO Box. This is common to many companies.

To upgrade my Quickbooks, I was advised to use the online version. It never worked. Working with their tech support I ended up with two companies entered and neither worked. After repeated calls to tech support for over a month, I finally gave up and switched to patriot.

A great company that will save you time and money.

Greater than 5 stars. In this day and time there are a lot of companies that will over sell and under deliver. Patriot seems to under sell and over deliver.

I can't say enough about this company. After having some shockingly bad experiences with a couple of other companies, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with Patriot software. Customer support is awesome. It is quick to get a person on the phone and all are very knowledgeable. We are a small business and they have been very helpful in onboarding our business. Excellent value for the money. Simple user interface. Allows for different types of access and the direct deposit integration is seamless. Great product and great customer service.

Cons:

Nothing negative to say at all. All of our questions or concerns were quickly answered or dealt with.

A Great Company with Hopefully Temporary Limitations

As I said, the customer experience was great. I was disappointed to have to move on. These limitations may not impact other businesses, and I would gladly return to Patriot Accounting if these issues are addressed. They truly are good people.

Pros:

First, I want to clarify that this is NOT a negative review. After using QuickBooks for over 20 years, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Patriot Accounting offered everything my small business needed: exceptional customer service, reasonable pricing, and an attractive, intuitive online platform.

Cons:

The software has two major limitations for a service business. First, it cannot accept deposits or progress payments for a job; payments can only be made against an existing invoice. While this might not be a problem for some, it created significant issues for me. Once a payment is applied to an invoice, the invoice is "locked" and cannot be modified. This restriction becomes problematic when a customer wants to add or remove a service from their project, or if I want to apply a discount for any reason. The workaround suggested by Patriot—using a journal entry to receive payments (to a bank account but not directly to a customer) and later deleting this journal entry to apply the payment to an invoice created at the end of the job—is completely impractical. The payment and the final invoice would often occur in different years and accounts receivable reports would become meaningless.

Wave help files were incomprehensible and the impression was they didn't want to offer personalized help.

QuickBooks is bullying people with predatory pricing to move to the online version, which is unaffordable in my situation. I use Quickbooks desktop for one "real" company, my personal transactions, and one rental property. QB online considers these three "companies."

Pros and cons of Patriot

It is very good for a small business, and very nice people that answer any questions you need answered, I have the best results with them and if they can't find the answer for you

I enjoy the simplicity of it I like that I can get threw it without a problem, enjoy that it mostly self-explanatory

Cons:

not having the reports for city and state taxes, and also would be nice to have a little bit more explanation

Excellent US based customer service! I switched from a very popular accounting software and couldn’t be happier. User friendly for the business owner. They also offer bookkeeping services. They are actual humans and not AI. Very knowledgeable and professional. I have recommended Patriot many times to my friends.

Patriot is user friendly with easy set-up If you do make an error, you can fix it easily.

Cons:

When processing a transaction to categorize it is a little clunky, but I may need to make a small change my descriptions.

Payroll was needed. I wanted the full service of being able to pay the payroll taxes from the system and not log into the taxing entity to record and pay.

It was becoming too expensive for payroll. My posted payments and deposit made would suddenly become un-done and show up as a deposit needed to be made even though it was from a year or 6 mo ago and the bank reconciliation was completed and recorded

So simple and easy to use, has way for features for a more affordable cost.

Cons:

I wish there was some other bookkeeping features like being able to search and select certain transactions and categorize them all at the same time if they are the same thing. I also think that notifications when the bank accounts get disconnected would be helpful.

It is ok for the price. I am willing to work with some of the things because it's way more affordable and pretty easy to use.

Pros:

The price and the set up was relatively easy. I did everything manually so I didn't have to import old customers and vendors and that was a pretty easy process.

Cons:

It does not separate my two bank accounts so that I can just look at one at a time. Instead they are all together which is a pain.
