### About Snap Projections

Snap Projections is an easy-to-use yet comprehensive financial planning software for Canadian Financial Advisors, Planners, and Investment/Wealth Managers.

We help great Financial Advisors, Planners & Investment Managers grow their assets under management & receive more referrals through effective financial planning.

First and foremost, Snap is transparent.

When you need to explain something to your clients, you need to first be able to understand it yourself. I talk with Advisors all the time who tell me that if they cannot see how the numbers are being calculated, they feel uncomfortable presenting the plan to their clients. It doesn’t mean they need to run every calculation but they need to be able to understand how the numbers were generated so they can conduct an audit if they need to. This is in stark contrast with other solutions that almost seem to hide the calculations so Advisors have no way of verifying the numbers. There’s just no transparency.

Next comes flexibility, customization and control.

Your client’s lives can be very complex at times and it can become difficult to model - As the Advisor, you need to have a very high level of flexibility and control ove...

r the plan if you want to model those lives accurately and make the plan personal for your client. For example, you should not have to lump multiple TFSAs together because your software isn’t flexible enough to allow for multiple account types. Those types of restrictions can seem insignificant at first, but are often found in practice to make data entry cumbersome and create confusion for clients. Lastly, Snap is an easy to use platform. Lack of ease of use is one of the biggest barriers to software adoption. If it’s hard to learn, or hard to use, no one wants it. We’ve interviewed over 3,000 Financial Advisors, Planners, and Investments managers and our research has indicated these are the top questions clients need answers to. 1. How long will my money last? (Essentially - Am I going to be okay?) 2. How much can I spend in retirement? 3. When should I take my government benefits? 4. Which of my assets should I spend first? 5. Am I saving enough? 6. How much will be left for my kids and other beneficiaries? With Snap Projections, you can address these crucial client questions in mere minutes. But with all the value that is generated from financial planning, for both the clients and the practice, why aren’t more Advisors doing MORE planning? Here’s what Advisors tell us. Problem Number 1: Data entry takes me too long. It can easily take me hours or even days to collect the information from my clients and enter it into a planning platform. Problem Number 2: It takes me hours to develop the projections. One plan alone can take 15 to 20 hours and that just isn’t scalable for the mass affluent market. Problem Number 3: My clients don’t want or understand complex 50-page reports. Their eyes glaze over. Lastly, Problem Number 4: I can’t run quick what-if scenarios with a client in real-time. Often, the adjustments and discussions throughout the planning process turn into multiple back-and-forth meetings that take up everyone’s time. Snap is going to be the solution to these problems because: Snap is going to provide you with a questionnaire that simplifies the data collection process, ensuring you get the information you need, PLUS provide you with a streamlined process to quickly and effectively enter your data into the software. With Snap, you can build a basic plan in less than 20 minutes. Snap provides you with clear, engaging reports that have been designed for your clients. You can also provide interactive, live presentations with colourful charts that will demonstrate how your plan helps your client meet their goals. With Snap, you can build multiple what-if scenarios in real time. A few clicks, a few seconds, that’s it. Each scenario you create will produce its own report and complete plan.

Best Financial Planning Software We’ve Implemented

5

My experience using Snap has been fantastic. It’s the best software our team has implemented. Clients ultimately want to know if their goals can be achieved and what that looks like from a cash flow, net worth, and estate perspective, and Snap makes this clear. It allows you to deliver strong advice around taxes, withdrawal strategies, and more, while giving clients peace of mind. The Snap team is outstanding, knowledgeable, and quick to help when modeling complex situations. Special shoutout to Steve and Leigh. The resources, webinars, and support make this a 10 out of 10 tool for scaling your practice

Pros:

Snap Projections is the best financial planning tool I’ve used. It lets you model almost any situation you can think of, from contribution and withdrawal strategies to timing government benefits and detailed corporate planning. You can easily see taxes, estate values, and long term outcomes year by year. What really stands out is how easy it is to compare different scenarios side by side, making it simple to find the best options for your clients.

Cons:

No complaints so far. One improvement that would be great is a dedicated Trust module or planning pages. I think this would make trust planning much easier to model instead of having to work through a corporation or TFSA. While those work as a workaround, having a proper trust option would simplify things for advisors when presenting, and make it much clearer and easier for clients to understand as well.

Reasons for switching to Snap Projections

I used an internal application at National Bank Financial called: Advice Suite). Couldn't model much and very little transparency.

Vendor Response

Chase, thank you so much for your thoughtful review. We truly appreciate it and value your support! Thank you for being part of the Snap community and I'll be sure to share your feedback with the Product Team.

Pros:

I like the responsiveness of Snap to their clients. They are always asking for feedback and upgrading their software to accommodate. I haven't worked with a software company that is so interested in what their clients have to say. It's very refreshing

Cons:

I wish that the non-registered joint investments could be taxed in specific percentages to each person.

Reasons for switching to Snap Projections

I used FP solutions and I don't see it on this list. It was not being upgraded and became very onerous to use

I prefer using Snap Projections for financial plans as Snap is easily customizable and simple to use which helps me juggle doing financial plans for many clients. I love the planning pages that helps me see everything quickly and the support level when I have a question is consistent and amazing. The output is also top notch which helps clients understand their situation easier compared to some other software programs

Cons:

It would be great if excess funds could be automatically directed to both spouses TFSA's so both TFSA's can be maximized.

The best for retirement income planning

5

I have used Snap for 6 years. I have tried several of the new financial planning softwares and always ended up returning to Snap. For young, less complicated clients, a more visual, simple financial planning software might work fine. My clients have many decisions to make at once and tax-efficient de-cumulation is more important than accumulation at their stage in life. Snap is excellent at this. The stress case add-on is good and easy to use. There is an add-on separate module for Corporations. I don't deal with corporations, so I'm glad it's available separately and I'm not forced to purchase it. French version is available | la version française est disponible. I also do not want a software that requires the client to put in the data. My clients will not do that, or they input things improperly or miss important information because they don't know where to look. They hand us their tax returns, statements, etc. and we take it from there. It is hard enough to gather this paperwork from them, let alone rely in them to do the input also. Besides, I really enjoy using the logical step-by-step input interface in Snap from the paperwork clients provide, because the big picture of the client's life starts to come into view quicker than it would if the client was doing it.

Functionality

Pros:

Complete transparency of where the numbers are coming from. Since I'm dealing with many different variables in client's lives, I need to understand how changing one variable will affect other variables. Great tutorials and ongoing training. Always improving. The same employees have been around for many years, which tells me they're happy and being treated well. Those same people answer their emails personally. You never feel like a number at Snap. It's easy and fast to input one-off events for a given year like travel during the early years of retirement or renovations or reverse mortgage withdrawals. You can adjust the expected rate of return of the portfolio year by year if desired, or set an average for a lifetime.

Cons:

Most of my clients are pre-retirees with up to 8-12 scenarios needed to cover all variables of decision making, such as retiring in five years vs. now, taking CPP at 60 vs. 65 for each spouse, etc. The easiest way to help clients make decisions is still running the different scenarios in Snap, then creating a simple excel table comparing the results of each scenario, marking 'yes' or 'no' next to whether a variable appears in a scenario. I wish I didn't still have to do that extra step. However, there is a new comparison tool in Snap that is almost there in terms of skipping that step. The new tool at least puts all the scenario estate results and a few other analytics in one place.

Vendor Response

Glory, thank you so much for this review. We really appreciate you making the time to share this information. I will certainly pass this back to the team! Thanks again.

Snap allows me to take my client or prospect information and build a beautiful report to provide. I love that I can give something deep and analytical for those clients who appreciate every number, or I can simplify it into a snapshot for those who prefer the overview. I love the choice of cover pages. I love the flexibility of comparing multiple scenarios, there is so much detail!

Pros:

If I had to pick one thing I like most about Snap Projections I would pick their helpline. Learning a new software can be a bit tedious, but I love that they have a very logical data entry flow that then calculates and produces this massive planning page filled with numbers. That, at first glance, will knock you out of your chair, but once you get the swing of it, it becomes so helpful! While you're learning the ropes, they have an amazing team of support who will walk you through whatever you are looking to do. They are my favourite!

Cons:

Gosh, that's hard. I know there are times that I'm working through and I say, "Argh, I wish I could do this, or that"... but usually if I call in to Snap asking about it, they have a solution that I wouldn't have thought of... I used to wish for more flexibility with the report, but they captured that in a recent update... same with the Snapshot Report.

Shari, thank so much for making the time to leave us this review. I will be sure to pass this feedback on to the support team. Take care!
