Worth the learning curve
TaxDome is worth the learning curve. It is going to be very powerful in my business. Even if I don't use every feature they offer, the ones I'm already using have already made the switch worth it.
PROSHaving a very secure signature feature was the biggest thing. I also like the chat function that includes giving the clients tasks and a to-do list.
CONSThere is absolutely a learning curve. I have not done the white glove onboarding yet, so they may help with that, but I am a tech savvy person who loves to learn new software, and I have not found the layout intuitive. I also wish there was a way to do more scheduled sends/uploads. But my clients will just learn that I sometimes work very odd hours (even if I won't respond to their emails at those times)
Reason for choosing TaxDome
I wanted to have a secure way to receive signatures and the other products I looked at did not have secure signatures
Reasons for switching to TaxDome
Dubsado does not have a secure signature feature and no audit trail. I am not convinced that a contract signed there would hold up in a court if something went wrong.

Just finished trial
TBD - I'm going to use it this year and update my review after tax season.
PROSStill setting it up - but it looks like
CONSI wish I had more trial time to get it set up and be sure. I signed up and forgot to use the referral code, but there was no way for the customer support to update it so that the person who referred me could get credit for spending time showing me how they use it.

I looked at a few others, but decided to try this product this year due to the reviews from another CPA.
Reasons for switching to TaxDome
Features are less for their document management system, and the portal was not as user friendly.

TaxDome has revolutionized our project & client management giving our clients a single app to use
PROS
I love that there are both client and firm facing apps. In addition, after using other software, the ability to direct message a client inside the software keeps it encrypted and confidential. Also after much trial of other software, TaxDome allows us to give a client a open item list of to-do's and track the deliverables as they are completed without having to constantly update the request and keep manually tracking what is neededed.
CONSWe are waiting for the ability to autopay the recurring invoices. Additionally, we would like to be able to customize an existing pipeline template per client, without creating multiple template copies, which is currently on the roadmap which we are excited about!

1) Direct messaging in app, 2) Checklist of open items sent to client to easily track deliverables, 3) customizable organizers
Reasons for switching to TaxDome
Canopy did not have a direct message feature to speak to clients without "requesting" data. Further, the messaging happened outside the software in the native text app on the phone creating the opportunity for sensitive data to leak. Additionally, there was no easy way to create an open items list and track it. Finally, and most importantly, we were looking for a one stop app that also allowed us to customize the organizer.
