Workfront (formerly AtTask) is a cloud-based project management solution that helps teams to prioritize, route, manage and report on their work. It is suitable for businesses of any size and industry including IT, architecture and accounting.

Users can access a library of standard reports or customize them to meet an organization’s needs. Workfront offers tools to help visualize the work lifecycle so users can maintain project schedules and budgets. Users can drag and drop tasks to assign them to team members, shift assignments and organize workflows through the visual interface.

Communication tools allow employees, account managers and executives to collaborate, assign work, track deadlines, check status updates, deliver work and manage reviews and approvals. Resource management tools allow managers to assign tasks, track performance and allocate resources. Methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall and others can be implemented with Workfront, and the platform is designed to scale along with company growth.

Workfront for Creative Agencies

Overall, this is fantastic PM software. It's extremely useful and is great for larger, more complex agencies that deal with detailed financial reporting. It's also good for a company where employees are remote or stationed across the country.

Pros

This software is diverse and extremely extensive. If you are looking for a system that can accurately allocate time to a project, then this is for your company! The system integrates designers availability into each project so you can accurately see who on your team has available to work on a project.

The PM software is also ideal for organizing financials. You can create an estimate using this software by adding in the amount of hours you think a project will take. Then depending on whose hours you are quoting, the system will pull an accurate financial estimate for you. For example, if you mechanical designer bills at a rate of $100 per hour and you quote 2 hours of work, the system will recognize their pay scale and estimate that the project will cost $200.

Cons

The software isn't the most intuitive. There are a lot of nuances that are involved in this software. It's extremely complex and there are times that creatives specifically are turned away from the software because it feels like more effort than it's worth to learn how to use it.

If you aren't using this to track your time, then I think there are other PM softwares that would be more useful for you creative agency to utilize.

Web based and collaborative. Provided the ability to work as a team together without sending files all over.

Workfront, Great until it's not

I like workfront, and I would recommend it to someone that was looking for a good software management tool. But, the issue with the search can be very frustrating and take a lot more time to look up a project when trying to refer back to something.

Pros

I use Workfront every day in my marketing job, and it keeps our different projects very organized with the ability to customize each project and its "tasks" to every different type of marketing campaign we are executing.

Cons

Sometimes, Workfronts search features can be a real pain. We have a specific # for each job/campaign that we create. Lately I've been having issue with Workfront not strategically looking up the job #. I will type in the job number (take example - 123ABC). Instead of looking for the number in that order (123ABC), it will pull up ANY job that has ANY of those digits/letters. It makes the search process in the job very difficult.

Pros

It offers a level of customization that possibly no other project management software does.
Great customer support.
It is a great solution for big teams and large industries​ that need​ complex management​ software to operate.

Cons

I and my team found it hard to get used to. It is a very powerful software, but you can effectively make use of all the features if you can invest a significant amount of effort into learning the software architecture​.
Too complex for teams that look for a simple way to increase productivity.

We use workfront for multiple things but it is great as an approval tool for various documentation such as marketing proofs or policies and procedures.

Qlikview - easy to use software

Pros

Very useful business intelligence tool it is. Can create various types of charts,deports,sheets etc to have a better view and understanding of our data. Online help is easily available for any kind of task that we need to complete with QlikView.

Great product for large teams

Pros

Workfront is a great software for larger teams to keep track of products. We are a large healthcare organization and work front allows us to keep track of the many marketing projects that flow through our team. We can grant limited access to those outside of our team for proofing or designing, and everyone is able to see status at a glance.

Cons

There are often upgrades to the software that make things look and function differently without any real education about what has changed. A tutorial or guide once changes are made would be helpful.

This is so time saving

Its great! it saves so much time. our company used to route pdfs and have to send a job sheet along by email, but having this software keeps everything in one place and makes for more efficiency.

Pros

It makes routing jobs so much easier and quick. There's lots of tools within it to mark up a proof, and attach images. It has a done check mark which helps keep you on track and see what comments you've read.

Cons

I dont like the update, the legacy viewer is easier to navigate

Pros

It's very easy to use, it helps the entire department on managing and deliberating reports and meeting our deadlines, this really turns our department more effective and efficient on work.

Cons

As of this moment I don't have any negative thoughts about Workfront. Though it is a bit pricy but upon using it I have realized that it is a worthy investment to have.

Workfront designed for a better staff managing

Visually easy to understand, helps businesses designate work for its staffs with the progress estimator.

Pros

Design is so easy to understand, enterprise businesses must have this to monitor staffs workload, since they cannot almost see it for having so many employees. Workload is visible, as well as tasks progress. Not so pricey application.

Cons

They require customer support when using application, so that is okay, at least they can help their clients more on the application installation processes.

Workfront Review

We have dozens of projects every day, with different employees in different capacities working on them -- project managers, team leaders, supervisors, editors, writers, graphic designers, proofreaders, strategists. Everyone's input and progress can now be corralled in one place. We have a clear window view in to how the project is going and who might need help with what. Everything is documented in one thread so there is no hiding from a mistake or missed deadline. We can take people outside of the task, like our Legal Department, to get their insight on certain matters.

Pros

What I like most about Workfront is the visibility it gives to employees and project managers as they navigate a workload from week to week. If 10 people are working on the same task, they can communicate through Workfront channels with respect to questions, concerns and updates. And everything is documented. So, if a conflict arises, we can just go back through the Workfront thread and see what happens. Documentation is so important, especially when you have dozens of projects going at one time.

Cons

It was tough to learn. After a year, I still did not feel like I had it figured it out. The workload queue setup felt wonky to me and I would often grab work from the wrong places because things weren't clearly marked. Also, and maybe this is on our company's IT side of things, it seemed to crash with a certain frequency, or would not normally be available.

I Love Workfront

I love Workfront. We implemented it mid-2017, but then I went to LEAP 2018 and drank the Kool-Aid. I'm the lead system admin for our instance. I find myself geeking out every day. People come to me with questions about how to do something; problems they can't figure out. I love being able to dive into Workfront and sort it out. Logging in as the user - seeing it from their eyes - is priceless. And when I can't figure it out, I go to the Help pages and to the Community to find answers. The Workfront Community is amazingly supportive, and I have been trying to devote some time to support my peers there. Workfront Rocks!

Some reporting functionality is limited access elements.

Using this software is easier for our teams in the workplace to collaborate on projects because everything is already in a systematic order. Cons

Since we are busy people and most of us would prefer to have our work on the go, I have tried using the mobile version of the software. The first version of the application was actually better than the newer ones because some of the notifications in the newer version were gone once you refresh it, I almost lost a data but then the support center was kind enough to help me retrieve my file. I also hope using the application in my mobile device will not reduce my phone's battery faster. It works better in the web than in the mobile device.
