## Reviews summary

- Overall rating: 4.9/5

### Secondary ratings

- Ease of use: 4.9/5
- Customer support: 4.8/5
- Value for money: 4.7/5
- Functionality: 4.7/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 129 reviews (90%)
- 4 stars: 10 reviews (7%)
- 3 stars: 2 reviews (1%)
- 2 stars: 1 reviews (1%)
- 1 star: 1 reviews (1%)

### Most mentioned pros

- I have used many transcribe apps and this is the best I have found, perfect voice recognition of all speakers and very, very few paragraph gaps, which were mostly due to the quality of the audio.
- Perfect results even for foreign languages (namely portuguese), very clear results with variable audio quality.
- AI does nearly 95% accurate work, even in german, not only english. And after that it took me only 25 % to 50 % of time of the total interview time to transcribe the inaccurate words.

### Most mentioned cons

- I accidentally uploaded the same file twice and it transcribed it without recognizing it was the same file as the prior one.
- Secondly, the pricing structure is unclear and WAY too expensive for what it is. And my favorite part - when I reached out to support because I panicked when I saw what was charged to my account, they were VERY rude and antagonizing rather than just explaining to me why I was charged that amount and trying to keep me as a customer.
- I compiled a few samples of the oldest, worst recordings of my seminars in a 30 minute test and ran it through.

PERFECT! Also pricing is totally fair, because it saves so much valuable work time!

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

SUPER FAST workflow for transcription. AI does nearly 95% accurate work, even in german, not only english. And after that it took me only 25 % to 50 % of time of the total interview time to transcribe the inaccurate words. Also compatible with MAXQDA. I compared it to many other tools and its just the best.

#### Cons

The are no cons about sonix...! I can't think of anything bad.

### Awesome value for money! $10 per transcription hour is perfect for our small usage.

They were perfectly nice to us as very small users, although it's clear that they are set up to handle much higher-capacity projects than ours! The hourly pricing made it possible to use their service at our modest level, and of course I am sharing the information with other people in my field who also need to create .srt files for their videos, so eventually we will be bringing them more business.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I love this software. It's better than any other speech-recognition software I have used, and it doesn't seem to have much trouble with technical terms, either. Plus, there's a dictionary function so you can teach it unusual terms you need it to recognize.

#### Cons

I would love to be able to use it offline as a downloadable program, but I guess that's not possible. Note that if you want to not pay for the minutes of "credits music" at the end, you will need to trim the end part of the soundtrack. Lead-in music you need unless you are going to go through the .srt file and time-offset everything.

#### Reasons for switching to Sonix

Much more reliable! Also takes much less time, as you can upload the audio file without having to play it in realtime.

#### Pros

I did like that I could easily upload my coaching calls and take notes on them based off of the transcript.

#### Cons

Where do I start...first of all, it did not transcribe all of my calls properly and would sometimes make it look like there was just one speaker speaking in paragraphs which wasn't helpful at all. Secondly, the pricing structure is unclear and WAY too expensive for what it is. And my favorite part - when I reached out to support because I panicked when I saw what was charged to my account, they were VERY rude and antagonizing rather than just explaining to me why I was charged that amount and trying to keep me as a customer. Seriously...you guys need to hire better people because that was ridiculous.

#### Pros

Easy to use and great value for money. The way it transcribed, translated and created subtiles between obscure languages (in my case Mongolian video to Swedish subtitles) with speed and accuracy was nothing short of magic!

#### Cons

As I use transcription/subtitling only sporadically, it was too expensive to keep the subscription going "just in case".

### It's so accurate, it's scary!

It goes beyond transcription. It actually enhances the transcripted dialogue by automatically cutting out all the repeated words as well as all the "hums" "erms" "aahs" which leaves the speaker free to talk naturally. Also, the timestamps for the subtitles are 100% accurate. And The ability to customize pretty much anything is truly handy. But the cherry on top of the cake is that my trial video was bilingual and the AI didn't miss a beat. My original speech was in Portuguese with words here and there in English and despite the fact that I set up the transcription to Portuguese, all English words were transcribed correctly in English, including capitalization and THAT is waaaay beyond expected. So, to whoever is behind the screen, nice one, people! I'm sure it was a lot of hard work but it certainly paid off. You guys have created the best product on the market by a mile. I couldn’t recommend it more highly!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5

#### Pros

Accuracy in: Transcribing, translating into other languages, splitting subtitles.

#### Cons

Just not applicable. So far, it has delivered every single time.

#### Reasons for choosing Sonix

Accuracy, easy to use, fair price, multi-language

#### Reasons for switching to Sonix

Way better than Otter.ai and Microsoft Office, especially for accents and poor sound qual.Pricing is very reasonable and well worth all the saved hours compared to inferior free transcription services.

#### Cons

Little language support, but acceptable. It is not free, but is so cheap I do not view this as a con.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5

#### Pros

Automatically transcribe AND translate into different languages. Really great as a video editor working in multiple languages. Makes it so easy, not many platforms allow you to do that.

#### Cons

If you need to transcribe and translate a interview, for example, it costs double- first eats into your credits by transcribing in native language and then again if you choose to translate. It would be great to automatically do that function as one purchase- rather than doubling the cost.

#### Reasons for switching to Sonix

Trint was slow, unreliable and overall a pain in rear. Working with Sonix has been a breeze since it utilizes AI (which is extremely accurate) so no waiting around for a human transcriber.

I love that you can see the closed caption in real time and i am loving how accurate the transcribe was in English and Spanish. I am also loving the ease of using this product especially since i am a first time user. I exported the file to use on other program and it was on point.

#### Cons

For my first time using this software it worked for what i needed it to do.

#### Reasons for choosing Sonix

I did try Rev, but they took to long and at the end they were unable to transcribe my video...

#### Reasons for switching to Sonix

I've just started using them but am so impressed with the results, the service and the customer service that I'm starting to transcribe all my previous podcast episodes and phasing out the use of Google Cloud transcription despite that being FREE at the volume that I require.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It's accuracy for transcribing conversations How simple it is to edit and export the transcript The embed code so I can add a transcript AND a player to my website and even pull the original MP3 from my podcast host so that those plays count towards my stats. THE AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!

#### Cons

The pricing structure is difficult to grasp at first. I would still try to simplify it because it's confusing. You get charged a membership fee which then gives you access to transcription services which are billed based on usage. I now understand that they do this so you don't have to be paying monthly for transcription which you might not need but then you're paying a membership anyway… Also, I'd like to be able to save snippets and common words to improve the AI and make my editing process easier but that's a very minor thing.

#### Pros

This is one of the few services that can handle multy-language and translations. I enjoyed the user friendly UI and the ability to export to software like Adobe and Atlas.ti. Best part is the easy way to edit transcriptions

#### Cons

The thing that I didn't love is that they have basic qualitative analysis for an extra fee. I'd love it to be included, but I understand that my license was a basic one.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5

- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What's not to like? Pricing is good, output is fantastic (given my awful input files), the speed of transcription is fantastic. Being able to change input timecode saved my day. Output to PDF. Perfect.

#### Cons

A hundred years from now, language recognition will probably have improved a bit, but technology isn't there yet so I can't expect Sonix to be way ahead in the game compared to others. That said, I tried a few services and Sonix stood out as the best.

#### Reasons for choosing Sonix

Ease of use, quality of transcription., being able to adjust start timecode.

Saves so much time and effort. I will have to work manually to edit but that's so much better than having to start from scratch.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The speaker on the uploaded 15 minutes audio file sometimes garbled or slurred his words, and yet Sonix was able to complete a transcription that was 90 % accurate in only 3 min. The audio editor is remarkable - I've never seen anything like it. Each word in the transcription is highlighted perfectly in sync as the audio is played. You can click the mouse in between a few words before the current word and the audio will start again at that point. There is absolutely no lag time after clicking to start the audio playing again - it's immediate! I have produced transcriptions before using the MPC audio player positioned in a small rectangle of space on the bottom of my screen widened to fit the entire width of the screen to make it easier to move the pointer back a few seconds while checking the accuracy of the transcription using Word. I manually transcribed 6 hours of audio this way years ago. I think it took me 20-25 hours to do this. What a chore! Now there is Sonix that can transcribe audio in a fraction of the time, with 90+ percent accuracy. And it's so very much easier to just click a few words back to check accuracy, instead of trying to manipulate an audio pointer. PLUS - not only can I download a Word doc but also a .srt captions file that can be added to the original video to produce a captioned video from the same original transcription! This is the only way I will produce transcriptions from now on, saving so much time and effort!

#### Cons

Just a little more time and I will get completely used to the editor interface. It's already very intuitive, but I just have to increase my "muscle memory" to hit tab to start and stop, click here to start somewhere new, etc. Really, no cons at all to speak of. Can't wait to think of new features for Sonix to add. I'm sure they will be very responsivee to customer requests

Sonix has been a huge help for our small media production team to create and edit transcripts for documentary film projects. The pricing is great compared to other services, especially if you're working with larger volumes, and the editing interface is simply a pleasure to use.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Sonix has the best online editor of any transcription service we've tried. I love all the export format options and organizational abilities. Sonix makes the task of creating interview transcripts simple and fun.

#### Cons

I wish there was a little more control over how SRT subtitles are exported, especially the ability to automatically split subtitles at the end of sentences. Also, it would be nice if Sonix could better identify speakers automatically.

Overall, Sonix is the best way I know of to get my podcast out there for a wider audience. For the latest episode twice as many people read/listened to the episode using the Sonix player as downloaded and listened in a podcast app like Apple Podcasts. So we tripled our listeners to that episode thanks to Sonix.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I love the embedded transcript / audio player. I use Sonix to transcribe podcast episodes and embed the transcript on my website. It's way better than a traditional transcription service because visitors to my site can click anywhere in the transcript to hear the audio at exactly that moment. I also get the benefit of the transcript being indexed by Google.

#### Cons

Currently they don't have an integrated human review/editing process. I use a contractor to clean up the transcripts because the AI isn't 100% perfect yet — no AI is at this point that I know of. So it takes a little more effort than a service such as Rev to get the transcript perfect. But the price ends up being the same or less, and the interactive transcript is something you just don't get with other services and makes it worth it.

Very positive! I'm certainly keeping my account and will probably resubscribe to a monthly service if another project presents itself to need a lot of audio transcription in a short period of time.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Quick upload, transcription, and access for fast turnaround and ability to share with other users. Having both a subscription and per/hour pricing model fits my needs. When a project requires a lot of transcription in a short period of time, I switch to the subscription model, and then just use per/hour model for other odds and ends.

#### Cons

Accuracy wasn't great and it took a while to understand the editing features. Overall, though, it met my needs to find and locate specific aspects of the transcription and just focus on those elements. For a full, accurate transcription, another service might be more accurate (but also more expensive)

Sonix is one of those rare programs that works so well that I can hardly find any faults with it. It's such a great interface because not only does it turn an MP3 into words on a page, it lets you edit in real time to fix any of the expected glitches the AI missed.

#### Cons

It doesn't render all voices perfectly, requiring some manual editing. I'd be amazed if it was able to do that, but maybe as AI improves.
