Merging tool works pretty well. Cons: Sometimes something will go wrong with a check-in and your files will get locked. Eclipse requires restart to reconnect to eclipse plugin. Eclipse perforce client does not remember my password. With the upgraded perforce Helix client some of my changelists are now indicating different colors (blue and black) and have become difficult to resolve. You can do a lot even if the server would not be reachable. Perforce essentially requires an always-available server connection.
