Easy to launch application, fast development, but lack of component decoration and functionality
It seems to me that it is ideal for creating internal applications, where it is not very important how the application looks, but what it does. The creation of the application reminds me a Lego game, where you assemble your application from separate components. There is documentation (although it is not always up to date), as well as a developer community, where you can get an answer to your question throughout the day. Development only requires knowledge of JavaScript and XML, so it's easy to get started with that.
PROSI am a developer, so the main thing for me is how easy it is to get started with the product. It was enough for me to read the documentation (with detailed examples) in one evening to understand how the application works and what the main features are. I like that there is no need to install any special programs, because all development is carried out in the cloud. Also, you can work here with the database. For example, to create a new table, you only need to describe the new table in the schema in xml format.
CONSSince the functionality is based on components, the app power is limited by the functionality of these components. Also, I am missing the tools to style the application (currently there is only a color setting). You can't set width, or padding, or alignment or other properties that are easily done through CSS and significantly improve the appearance of the application.

Great tool for building business focused applications
I’ve built applications for industries including mining and metals, field services, and even the financial sector. Extremely flexible and versatile in experienced hands.
PROSReal time testing for app builds and the ability to deploy to any platform or operating system without additional configuration.
CONSGenerating custom reports is harder than I would like but not bad for highly customizable software.
Reason for choosing JourneyApps
Easier to use and deploy, and no limits to implementation based on plugins, platforms, or other clunky proprietary stuff you often see with dev platforms.

Fast way to get mobile apps up and running on multiple platforms
The process of creating a mobile app for users to use in remote areas has been an easy process with Journey Apps. The time saved from not having to create the offline data caching infrastructure I think is worth the trade offs with ui customization. With the use of node js packages it seems the platform can allow any developer to resolve any issues they may be tasked with
PROSI like the deployment process which is very simple. Use of javascript is very convenient to get started quickly developing apps. Components are simple and straight forward. Integration with database and automatic data reloads. Built in database logging. Oxide ide is very nice. The use of node js packages/typescript in cloud code. Offline data caching
CONSNo ability to make ui changes as far font and component styling. No way to reuse views inside other views. No way to handle native javascript events on front end. Development is really constrictive when trying to implement complex features. No typescript ability for front end.
Vendor Response
Hi! Thanks for the great review :) I'm on the product team here at JourneyApps and would like to respond to your comments:"No ability to make changes as far font and component styling" <- You can customize the font that your app uses, it's a property in your app's settings. In terms of component styling, we are actively working on providing more options to style your components. It would be great if you could vote and add comments for this on our roadmap here: https://roadmap.journeyapps.com/c/50-custom-css-and-layouts-for-apps "No way to reuse views inside other views" <- Thanks for the feedback! We've added this to our product roadmap. "No way to handle native javascript events on the front end" <- You can access native JS (DOM) inside our html component, and in the future fully custom components which plug into the journey app building paradigm. "No typescript ability for front end" <- TypeScript support is close to release - we're in the final stages of QA. Available in July

Expand your enterprise application portfolio at Lightspeed
Our experience with JourneyApps have been incredible, beyond their great tool, they have a incredible group of people to support you throughout the project, with meaningful meetings, follow ups and quick response to your questions and needs; providing expert guidance on how to accomplish your requirements using their software.
PROSJourneyApps mades multi-platform application development a worry-free environment. Their modern and online development tool allowed us to built our application in just a couple of months, releasing it to desktops, phones and tablets all at once. Their system is intuitive and provides key assisting tools to help you design and program your application, specially if you are using their latest release OXIDE.
CONSAs a multi-platform development tool, they use the same design elements and look & feel across devices so your personalization options in terms of layouts and overall distribution are not as wide as you would with a stand-alone Web page or App. Although, the've released new functionality since we started at the beginning of 2020 so I'm confident we'll have more personalization options in the future/

Good tool for app creation
The out of the box features really made building the app easier. They could be used to represent, filter, or create/modify/delete data. There are lots of way that the components can be used, and there's no one way to use them.
CONSThe JavaScript used in JourneyApps is not up to date, so there are some missing functions, etc
Vendor Response
Hi! Thanks for the generous review, we're glad you're enjoying the platform. Regarding the JavaScript version, we recommend that you rather use our TypeScript mode. This targets ES2018, and all ES2018 features are supported in TypeScript mode. We're trying to keep JavaScript mode very simple for more junior developers and simple apps. Hope that helps?

Sales opportunity tracking.
PROSFound the JourneyApps development process very simple to jump into. Have been a developer for over 25 years, but new to utilizing Javascript extensively. With a few short training sessions with some great people at JourneyApps, we were able to roll out a brand new application to users in less than 8 weeks, with most of that time spent deciding how the app would function and learning some Javascript at the same time. The functionality of development platform combined with deployment features allowed us to focus solely on what functionality we wanted and not on the technology platform.
CONSBeing new to using both the JourneyApps platform and Javascript made it difficult to determine the line between pure Javascript and the app framework. This is not really a con about the JourneyApps software but our particular adoption path. Loved that we could start with a basic app with very little code needed and add more logic as we designed our app.
Reason for choosing JourneyApps
The simplicity of defining data models and views combined with the seamless deployment to both mobile and desktop devices without requiring an Internet connection for the app to function.

My Review
JourneyApps has helped me as a developer early in my career to hit the ground running. Delivering features is relatively quick with all of the tools that JourneyApps offers. I have thoroughly enjoyed the support given by the JourneyApps team. They are all extremely helpful and respond very quickly.
PROSNot having to manage infrastructure and/or the build is amazing. It allows our team to focus on development and helps us deliver products sooner.
CONSSome components are more customizable than others. This makes certain feature requests difficult to implement.
Vendor Response
Thanks for the generous review! We're constantly working on providing developers with more UI control. If you have specific component customizations that you want to see, please vote/submit ideas on our public roadmap: https://roadmap.journeyapps.com/

Excellent tool for building cross-platform applications
I am a FrontEnd Developer with little knowledge on Backend and Databases, but using JourneyApps environment I am able to work with DataModel's, Backend integrations, and on cloudecode with Javascript. This particular feature is allowing me to extend my skills as a full stack developer, and the other great benefit is WRITE ONCE-RUN ANYWHERE feature by supporting mobile, desktop and web applications
PROS1. The fact that it allows to have a Single code-base for Web, Desktop and mobile applications. 2. New Oxide editor 3.Flexible working environment 4. Github integration 5. Database and Backend integrations.
CONSNothing in specific, but I would like to see if you can allow to have more control on HTML components in terms of customizing

JourneyApps Review
JourneyApps makes it easy to develop and deploy apps across a variety of platforms . We have rolled out several fully functional mobile apps in JA using only a fraction of the time and resources that would be needed otherwise. Additionally, JA's fully customizable code-first approach has allowed us to tailor our apps to our specific use cases in a scalable fashion.
PROSThe Oxide IDE makes it very easy to develop applications within the framework. The autocomplete feature makes coding very efficient.
CONSBasic knowledge of JavaScript, XML, and general programming concepts are necessary to build apps

Remote Workforce Review
Very positive. Operations is pleased with the quick response to their requests and the costs.
PROSWe like the rapid development and deployment. That fact that we did not have to worry about how to store on local devices, how to forward, etc, allowed us to focus on the business side of the application rather than the technical side.
CONSA little bit of a learning curve is required. We did not have a lot of JS experience, so that was something we had to pick up as well as the learning curve for the tool.
