About Notepad++

Notepad++ is a Windows-based solution that helps application developers create and edit source codes in multiple programming languages, such as Python, Matlab, Ruby and Verilog. The sessions functionality enables team members to create multiple active files and store information, such as current files, bookmarks, selections and languages. Notepad++ allows employees to find and replace text across multiple files based on several methodologies, such as incremental, dialog-based and dialog-free search navigation. The task automation module lets staff members record and reuse document editing action sequences. Additionally, the built-in graphical user interface (GUI) enables supervisors to edit configuration files, customize context menus, add keywords, schedule data b...

Notepad++ is the best file editing software

It's a amazing experience working on notepad++. We can easily select one set of columns out of half a millions rows. We can easily insert some words in the start or end of each rows or to the number of rows we want.It makes my life simple. Like in notepad if you copy the data rows and column alignment was missing , but with notepad++ it great to see the output and can easily see what is in what colum...alignment is one of the best feature i love about this product

Pros

with notepad++ we can see data in rows column without actual column line and we can easily see what is in what column. We can select few column data as well and if we want to put something in front of every row or at the end, we can easily do that

Cons

It's keyboard shortcuts is something we need to learn before started working on notepad++, but once you gets comfortable with the shorucut, you will love this product. But these shoutcuts should be embedded in the software like in help menu there should be one page of shortcuts

Reasons for switching to Notepad++

Alignment is not there, and even many keyboard shortcuts which is in notepad++ was missing in notepad

A simple all around text editor

I have used Notepad++ for note-taking and code editing in embedded systems. For text note-taking, it is probably the best resource out there and I have used it both professionally and personally. As for embedded systems, it was quite useful to edit my code with such a lightweight software instead of a bigger IDE such as PyCharm or CLion.

Pros

Notepad++ is free and is being constantly kept up to date. It can be used to edit code, take notes, write reports, etc. It is probably the best option to write a text draft. It has multiple powerful and diverse extensions. One could replace both Word and any IDE with Notepad++. It's ability to save files internally is probably it's best feature.

Cons

It is quite a jack-of-all-trades, but a master at nothing. The fact that it is free is evident. One cannot execute it's code from the IDE. Although it is possible to write code, it does not correct you efficiently when a mistake is done.

Reasons for switching to Notepad++

Notepad++ was just a more complete version than BlocNote from Windows,, while also presenting the option of adding extensions.VS Code does have the ability to run code, contrarily to Notepad++, but his extensions are far less lightweight and VS Code's terminal was not absolutely needed for me.Finally, real code IDEs were far too heavy for finite memories in embedded systems, which is why I implemented Notepad++.

Super Simple, Mighty Effective

A normal editor for basic tasks that I recommend if there is not intense development being done.

Pros

The product is easy to use. With a couple of clicks, you have a solution that can help you in the day by day activities. You can easily type in your text, indent, code, and multiple other things. There is no wait time when opening files as it renders them with lightning speed.

Cons

The lack of integration with other apps is a major buzz kill. A little work on the interface is also due.

Super Simple, Super Snappy and Super Sturdy!

Notepad++ is *the* essential tool for anyone wanting more than regular Notepad AND less than bloated and sluggish text editors like VS Code, Atom, and the whole slew of "modern" Electron-based editors. While it doesn't have the most modern look, lacks some features and QoL improvements that are expected in today's digital environment, it excels with its super fast startup times, dead simple text editing features suited for coding, doesn't feel bloated or gets in the way of your flow, is lightweight and snappy, and packs a slew of cool features that might be a bit hidden at first, but once you know where to look or need them, they pack lots of power :) And while I do wish it would get a graphical upgrade, it should not come at the cost of its speed, simplicity and performance. Until someone manages to make an alternative that's like VS Code in features and look and feel, BUT with Notepad++'s speed and performance, I'm sticking with N++ for now :)

Pros

The blazing fast startup speeds, the simple yet flexible UI and features, the code highlighting in so many languages, and the ease of writing code in a dead simple environment that is lightweight, fast and doesn't get in the way of getting to develop your cool ideas I also love how it keeps all the files open, even unsaved ones, so that you're able to jot down stuff quickly or paste code snippets without losing them when closing Notepad++ :) Also, it has some really handy keyboard shortcuts for essential stuff that I now can't live without in other text editors, like CTRL+D to duplicate line :D

Cons

While the native GUI allows for a snappy and fast-booting experience, there can be some "archaic" features or "outdated" ways of doing things, or outright some essential QoL features missing that are ubiquitous in the modern dev era. While most aren't an issue, the biggest drawback that I experience is that code hinting can become rather slow in a large codebase, as the dropdown menu "stutters" for every single letter typed, and you'd think such a trivial matter would have better performance. But it's not an issue as it only happens sometimes, and it pales in the face of every other pro :)

Reasons for switching to Notepad++

Performance, startup speeds, simplicity in its UI, and familiarity
