Online IDE for Remote Learning
Overall, Repl.it is an excellent web-based IDE for both personal and educational uses. It has its limitations but its solutions greatly outweigh its shortcomings.
PROSAs a computer science teacher, it is a struggle to find an IDE that will work for all my students. My students have school-issued Chrome devices so installing software is not an option. This is where Repl.it really shines. It is a feature-rich IDE that supports an impressive assortment of languages. The best part is it is completely web-based. My students were able to do their assignments remotely without having to install an IDE.
CONSThe Python options are not inclusive. You have to select if a project will be graphic-based or text-based. When creating my classes I had to choose one or the other and not all assignments were compatible. This was not clearly explained and caused a few problems.

Learning Python on repl.it
I very good and positive start to my coding journey
PROSWell laid out and easy to navigate, having the debug and run screens available at a click made the beginning steps of my coding experience so much easier. I went on to work with a number of other languages and repl.it was my starting point with them all, their help tools and hints definitely helped my skills to develop
CONSI didn’t always work on line so had to move to an off line IDE and ended up staying with them rather than hit version control issues.
