We used this software daily for our presentations with customers and they got amazed as well, because if they needed to change something, we just did it in the meeting and they saw the new image immediately on Lumion.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I keep getting amazed by how easy it is to render images on Lumion. You just import the model that you made in an external 3d modeling software and once inside Lumion, the magic starts by picking materials and inserting furniture, plants, select sky, etc. There is a wide variety of 3d models for furniture, people, plants, etc. The best part is that you can do all this in real time, as you move you see it rendered.

#### Cons

You will need a powerful computer to get the best results. But it is expected, not a surprise. Everything else is perfect.

#### Reasons for choosing Lumion

Interface and learning curve.

#### Reasons for switching to Lumion

Faster and easier renders.

Overall I was very pleased to use Lumion as its intuitive and fun to use.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The best thing about Lumion is that it is very easy to use in the beginning, anyone can start to render simple scenes without much effort. The component library is very huge, one of the biggest you can get in a software like this.

#### Cons

It is very expensive while we compare it to similar software. For professional grade quality you will have to invest more time and the system requirement to run Lumion is also high.

#### Pros

For realistic renderings, this is the best tool. As a civil engineer I am using the application to make realistic 3d renderings of the structures. It provides nice illusions and effects to make your renderings more realistic. It allows 3d image rendering, sceneries and also the animations.

#### Cons

Since this is a high power rendering engine, this software needs higher processing power. Therefore, you have to use more powerful pc to get your work done.

It saves time for creating superb animation walkthroughs/flythroughs and stunning images. It may be a bit of a learning curve but I would prefer Lumion to create animations compared to other 3d applications I have used over the years.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It saves time to create 3d environments around you model that you want to showcase, has realtime sun and night setting, creating oceans, landscapes, trees with ease which are pre-animated and according to physics. It renders faster than any other rendering plugin software and quality is even better. I can even create bokeh effects, depth of field, camera shakes and many more. What's cool is that you can create and populate the scene in real-time with effects like playing a video game. So you do not need to render every time you create a new effect just to see how it looks like. Saves time like a lot!

#### Cons

Lumion is NOT a modeling software. Your 3d models created are imported into the software and you populate the scene with its internal library. I find the internal library lacking models but Lumion keeps improving their 3d library in every new version released. Also, its interface can be confusing sometimes. This coming from experience using other 3d software which are far friendlier to use.

A lot of great support and from all clients and people I work with. And I have control over my artist impressions, without the need for external visualization firms. And the designing process is much more fun working in a real-time environment.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Easy to use, solid performance, great renders and extreme fast render times. I use Lumion from the very start of the designing process, and constantly switch between Archicad and Lumion. I show the renders to my clients, or share them on social media in every stage of the process. It's fun working with Lumion and it really gives my designing process a boost.

#### Cons

Importing external materials (and their respective channels) could be better. It would be nice if all channels could be adjusted directly from within Lumion without a Photoshop detour.

#### Pros

I like how easy it is to use and how realistic my views look in Lumion. They have a nice wide library and will help your projects come to life.

#### Cons

#### Reasons for switching to Lumion

Lumion is easier to use. It does save time and effort while obtaining the same results.

#### Pros

This has been the most significantly positive change to our workflow recently. With ease, we're able to produce visualizations for architects and engineers. Finally it's extremely easy to use, requiring minimal training.

#### Cons

At first we were concerned that there would be a high cost to this massive speed advantage. However we realized applications were well worth the cost and the value was immediately apparent.

Super fast rendering, you do not loose alot of time.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Fast rendering, very nice interface, it is fun, and feels bit like some kind of an upgraded gaming engine for architectural visualisation.

#### Cons

The rendering feel bit like a videogame, 3D connexion mouse does not work properly and let the program crash in a strange way (just automaticaly let the camera spin and you can not stop it unless you restart the program)

#### Reasons for switching to Lumion

Cause it is much more faster, quality is less when compare with Vray, but customers still are very excited about the renderings, so that is good then :-)

Overall, Lumion is the most powerful rendering tool to make animations with innovation to impress the clients and colleagues for Engineering professionals.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

When it comes to rendering, I always preferred Lumion. I familiarised with the Lumion during my final year project demonstration and it ended with the big round of applause. The detailing available in the Lumion is very handy and useful. The Library available for Lumion is very large and it is very useful when we create animations, data import and export, landscape design etc.

#### Cons

The big cons in Lumion is time consumption during a large rendering end product. It needs to be improved in the upcoming versions. Pricing for this software also a little bit high when comparing other markets available software.

### Great software with lots of potential, hindered by repeated releases with little to no improvement.

I used to use Lumion a couple years back because it let you create stunning images on low end hardware, with an awesome speed. Now that I have access to multi-GPU machines, I find myself needing it less and less. Unless they improve it a lot of key areas like the ones I mentioned before. Specially Ray Tracing Support. Which is where the Archviz Industry is headed.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

It is fast to deliver a good looking image, the material Library is great and a lot of the 3D assets are good quality. It is intuitive to use without need of tutorials or training.

#### Cons

It needs improvement in a lot of Areas: -the UI looks and works dated. There have been almost no improvements to it. -The majority of the 3D Assets look dated. -There are artifacts and flickering 90% of the time when exporting animations. -There is no Ray Tracing, for this price of software that is unacceptable. -No Ctrl-Z function. -No Multi-GPU Support. -No realtime VR Support. -Very expensive.

#### Reasons for switching to Lumion

Better quality and speed at the time.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5

#### Pros

Lumion has a very simple interface to use. It provides great easy features for rendering like adding objects, lights, furniture, people etc. that do not affect the programs’ speediness. Changing the environmental conditions, weather and landscape, is easy to accomplish and interesting for the over whole rendering result without spending hours to do it. Photo and video rendering is much faster in lumion than any other software, which is very important especially when fast results are needed. Photo rendering effects (shadows, contrast, reflection, water…) create a more realistic render without difficulties and video rendering features are easy to use and give a remarkable outcome.

#### Cons

Lumion navigation is a bit hard and library could be richer in content and quality improved.

Lumion let's me make edits to projects and visualize them instantly. I can rework a project and then have presentation ready renders in the same day. This is great for saving time and communicating ideas with clients.

#### Cons

Lumion works as a standalone program that once you import your 3d model into it, you cannot edit the 3d model. If there was a way of linking in realtime the edits from Rhino to Lumion that would be great! However, they do have this feature, "LiveLink" for Sketchup and Revit.

All in all. Lumion is the rendering software at hand for any firm or practicing freelancer architect. This will transform your plain 3D presentations to something the is eye catching and appealing. A highly recomendable software with just very few and bearable cons and problems.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The best part of the software is the 3D additions and allowance to use real skies. The software will allow you to add 3D grass without bogging up or slowing down your machine and make it appear as if it was a captured image rather than processed. The HDR skyboxes in lumion 7,8,9 improve the overall lighting of the image and gives it a realistic look.

#### Cons

The new addition of the lean UI in the lumion 9 is a standard con. This has disabled many features which include the ability to select and filter multiple categories. Another con is the video playback which is quite slow and time consuming.

#### Ratings breakdown

An impressive and up-to-date software for both designers and architects, it renders very quickly so you can save a lot of time while it quietly renders in the background. The details of the renders such as animals are also very much appreciable and add a natural touch to the renders created by this software.

#### Cons

### I have a very positive experience with Lumion. It's intuitive and really fast.

I get the job done extremely quick. With no previous 3D experience I was able to learn Lumion in the matter of hours and it generated first income in the matter of days. We had a project with 3D elements in it and with extremely short deadline . I don't know of any other software that would allow us to make it done so fast (both thinking about how easy it was to start using and rendering times of complicated structures). I love the "what you see I what you get" aspect of it, and that you see it in real-time, without wasting time to pre-render things.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I love how fast it is and how big areas it is possible to render. We did several projects where we needed to render whole cities, or city areas and I don't know of any software that would make it faster then Lumion.

#### Cons

There is no versions for Mac. I work in a small advertising agency and iOS is the system of choice for both us and many others in design/advertising/photo industry. I have all of my stuff and resources on the Mac, so moving it back and forth to PC when I need to use Lumion is a big pain.
