SharePoint For Teams

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Value for Money

Pros

SharePoint has been great for being able to put all of the teams files on a cloud. It is great to put all of the files on a website.

Cons

The only con is the links for SharePoint can get pretty messed up. In addition if you have more than one Microsoft account it makes life pretty confusing. Other than that use SharePoint a lot.

Larger companies probably find Sharepoint more useful

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Customer Support

Value for Money

Pros

The biggest benefit to Sharepoint is that it is included in our Office 365 subscription, and there is no local server required as you can have a cloud deployment of Sharepoint. All of our organization's employee information is automatically added to Sharepoint, so deployment time is reduced.

Cons

Honestly, it just doesn't feel like Sharepoint was directed towards small businesses. There aren't a lot of features that we found useful, and when we ran into questions or concerns, Microsoft support wasn't very helpful in providing resolutions.

Pros

- Included with Office 365 business premium subscriptions
- The backend for OneDrive, so this is where you saved files are uploaded to.
- Can save directly from Office applications.
- Can create sites for each project/department

Cons

- I feel that Microsoft really needs to scrap SharePoint and start over. It's never been entirely successful for any company I've worked for, and we always end up abandoning Sharepoint after a few years of constant onboarding.

Pros

I have been using sharepoint for past couple of years now, and my experience till now is good. They have a very user friendly product as scheduling; tracking business on day to day basis gets easier. I am able to manage my content and it helps me to mark important tasks and prioritize the work accordingly.

Cons

It is not cloud based compared to it's competitors. Also, it does crashes sometimes but i feel because of the heavy database. As we don't use any other document sharing and content management tools it flickers.

Overall - great product. You just need to keep your site relevant and not allow it to go stale.

Pros

SharePoint was easy to organize and get a departmental website set up quickly (just a couple of weeks). Creating the layout, adding pictures and information was user intuitive.

Cons

The most difficult part of the implementation was designing the security aspect. Luckily, we had a consultant to assist with ensuring our data was seen by the right individuals.

I have the Office365 which comes with 1TB of storage, I use it ALL the time and most of the time can't fault this service.

Pros

Files are uploaded swiftly and on the background, you can use the same desktop app for both your basic free OneDrive and OneDrive for business which for me makes life easier.

Cons

Sometimes changed files fail to upload as another file with same name exists, it is rare but annoying,
A feature which for some reason exists on the "standard" OneDrive but id missing here is the ability to collaborate with co-workers, I want to be able to see if changes where made and by whom like I can do on the standard OneDrive!

We used this product along with a CAD software, organizing and collaborating in real time, making all the parts designed by the engineers very easy to catalog.

Pros

Very easy to use and integrate with other platforms, this products now works well with lync and skype, making it an all-in-one platform.

Cons

This is not a cheap solution since it requires you to license other Microsoft products such as a Windows Server with Active Directory. But this will give you a single sign-on in all the platforms.

It's an invaluable tool for our organisation.

Pros

The user interface is friendly and easy to use and allows for some customisation for marketing and branding of the different departments within our organisation. It is easy to use and solves one of our major problems of distributing secured documents in a large organisation.

Cons

It would be nice to be able to hide certain information from specific users. At present they may not be able to see the documents but they can see all the departments that are using it. If we could make some departments not visible to other departments such as Legal and HR it would be helpful.

With a refreshed UI, this can consolidate its grip in the market.

Pros

It is the most commonly implemented File & Work Sharing solution you would find in most established business setups. So, in that sense, this is the most familiar tool and hence quite easy to get hands-on.

Cons

But, it is quite dated in terms of its UI and Ease of Use. You have to learn a certain set of procedure to deal with Files and Folders Access which are not very intuitive.

I would recommend this tool for teams to use

Pros

One of the biggest pros is the accessibility of this tool from any device.
Also the FLOW feature is so amazing as it allows to transfer tasks between team members without any issues.

Cons

There is no option to add a document to the library with read only access rights, basically anyone can modify your document unless you restrict access to the whole library, which is inconvenient. Because for example I would want my team to upload individual templates with their holiday days off request but at the same time I don’t want them to modify each other’s calendar requests. So each file has to be uploaded to individual libraries which restrict other people’s access. A bit crazy.

Pros

I use Sharepoint to create sites and pages that I can use to keep the rest of my team up to date with what I am working on. Creating and editing sites is pretty easy, and hypothetically, if my other team members follow the site, or know where to find the site, they can easily see what I have published.
Sharepoint sites also have the ability to display Microsoft forms, which is a feature that I use. If you are using Microsoft 365 there are a variety of features that crossover.

Cons

Personally, although SharePoint is functional, I don't like the way it looks and I don't enjoy using it. I wish it behaved more like a drag-and-drop web editor vs. a Microsoft program. But since it is a Microsoft program it makes sense that it has some of the feel and appearance of other programs like Word, Excel, etc. Personally I don't enjoy that and I don't find it very intuitive.

Pros

just like the many others out there, sharepoint by microsoft is a sharing platform, what really make it standout from the rest is its functions and security. when in contrast with the sharing service provided by one of the search engine giants, sharepoint is more secured as only people with an outlook account can have access to whatever file it is you feel like sharing and to make things better and more soothing, not just anyone with an outlook account can access shared files, whoever is interested in accessing files shared by an administrator on sharepoint needs a lot of patience for approval, no approval simply means no access to desired files.

Cons

for new users who are not accustomed to office360, sharepoint might get overwhelming for them as getting around the platform with its many functionalities can pose to be a problem. Accessing of files can get cumbersome for people without an outlook account, a proble which should be solved by allowing unregistered people have a preview of the files that has been shared with them.

SharePoint is a great tool, which we use in an organization for sharing and storing files. The product allows many users in a firm to gain access to the different files shared by the admins. Its security is also guaranteed.

Pros

I like the ability of SharePoint where users can access various files in an organization at one point. That is, the administrator shares important organization files to this platform, and the employees gain their access instantly under one roof. SharePoint is easy to use, compared to other sharing platforms, and it is also very stable, with no bugs.

Cons

However, I find this item very expensive, not forgetting that not all firms that are financially stable. I wish the vendor could lower down the subscription costs. Again, SharePoint lacks a friendly user design, where its customization more so to the admins is also limited.

SharePoint is a big lifesaver for the company I work at. It allows our entire sales staff to share essential documents and allows the company to host training files for newer employees to view at their leisure. It allows us to store a large amount of files in the cloud with the option to expand our storage space if need be. It also allows us to manage which users can view, upload, and download certain documents. It's a very handy tool for team collaboration. My only qualm is that some of the UI is a little confusing as far as granting certain users permissions to SharePoint sites. Other than that SharePoint is quite handy.

Pros

Easy to upload, easy to view documents/files that are uploaded. Also easy to share with others.

Some of the UI is lacking, such as giving permissions to certain users and whatnot.

Overall, I am not as satisfied with SharePoint as I would like to be. My company uses all Microsoft software, so a highly functional version of this product would be extremely beneficial. However, I think it still has quite a ways to go before it gets to that place.

Pros

Sharepoint in its current form is a pretty good start to what may eventually be an excellent product. It allows for collaboration between teams, sharing of large files, and shared versions of many Microsoft programs.

Cons

Almost every Sharepoint version of the Microsoft programs is missing some crucial functionality. The communication between the online and desktop versions of the Microsoft suite should be far more seamless than it is right now. The "live" sharing features are also clunky and not as smooth as they should be. There is a lot of room for improvement in order to get it up to industry standards.

Overall, I would say that Sharepoint is a very good software, and I would recommend it to anyone who needs to be able to share information across multiple locations in real time.

Pros

Sharepoint is extremely useful for a company with people in multiple locations who need to be able to compile information onto the same document in real time. I use Sharepoint daily for multiple documents that we use to track performance within our company, and it is so much simpler than having to compile information from various locations manually.

Cons

Early in our companies use of Sharepoint, we had issues with users forgetting to check items back in before leaving for the day, essentially locking that document from being used by anyone else. This was quite a challenge. But we have since been able to find a work around, and have certain users that can force the item to be checked back in, which made this much less of an issue.

The user permissions capabilities are powerful and granular enabling administrators to add groups or individuals to various sections of SharePoint. SharePoint is used by many companies for their intranets due to these powerful collaborative features. Microsoft has very good support for SharePoint.

Cons

SharePoint's out of the box functionality enables businesses to get results quickly. However, getting enhanced functionality and customizations becomes complex very quickly. Businesses will need the assistance of SharePoint architects and programmers to customize functionality for the their unique business needs.SharePoint customizations come at a high price.
