The Salesforce cloud is an on-demand customer relationship management (CRM) suite offering applications for small, midsize and enterprise organizations, with a focus on sales and support.

The Salesforce app has capabilities that include sales management, marketing automation, partner relationship management and customer service. These applications help organizations manage customer accounts, track sales leads, conduct and monitor marketing campaigns and provide service post sale.

Salesforce for Outlook allows users to synchronize contacts, calendars, emails and tasks in both applications. Salesforce for small business allows users to manage contacts, track sales deals, manage tasks and events, harvest leads and track performance. The Salesforce enterprise edition layers in call scripts, team-selling functionality, business workflow, setup approval and automation, custom applications, API integrations and more.

CRM Salesforce solutions are available only for software-as-a-service (SaaS) deployment. Force.com provides a technology stack that covers database and security as well as workflow and user interface.

Pros

No more robust of a CRM out there. If you are planning on growing there is no reason to not buy it. However if you plan on staying under 50 to 75 users there are cheaper options.

Cons

They created their own developer language and server. Makes customization difficult. Customer support will not be good either.

This works with many of my internal software programs. It is a very robust CRM and has been able to help me advance my sales base and keep up with all of my clients important dates and specifics.

Cons

It is like any other big software product you need the full support of IT to get it up and running and then it took time to get use to the reporting tools. Remember garbage in garbage out.

We wanted to grow our business and begin to expand our base of customers, perhaps even to the wider area, this toolset, from our experience so far, is looking like a great option to do that with minimal cost relatively, and also no major work to overhaul our systems or change them.

Pros

Minimal downtime during setup, and no need for major onsite changes to our existing office systems and equipment. Online based somit makes switching over to using it very efficient for us. Excellent range of tools to help grow our business and also the support is wonderful. Price point looks to be very competitive, as even our small <5 office team and the package we may go for after trial won’t be a major cost to worry about.

Cons

So far none, but we’ve only been using a short period after the trial. Also support is excellent and available, especially when we were first getting used to the intricacies of the online tools.

Pros

Salesforce is free for nonprofit organizations, making it an appealing option for managing donors. It is robust software that will track a lot of information.

Cons

Salesforce is not designed to track individual households, which causes issues when trying to track individual customers. The reporting feature is very difficult to use with so many options that it's hard to find the right one. The software is not very intuitive so it's often hard to find your way around.

Depending on how much you want to spend on customizations and integrations the possibilities with Saleforce really do seem endless. They work with you to help develop the tools your team will benefit most from and the ability to assign follow up tasks is one of my all time favorite features of Salesforce.

Cons

It can seem a little clunky at times to navigate through when you are making a high volume of calls and trying to make sure you have all the correct data before calling, but after using it for a couple weeks with regular use, you will figure out little tricks to make it easier, like opening multiple contact tabs at once so you can just move onto the next call.

Our team switched to Salesforce this year and I am so grateful we did! We can manage accounts from any department and track campaigns, lead source, actions and so much more.

Cons

It is almost too powerful - so if you don't know what you are doing, SalesForce can quickly become overwhelming and even frustrating. Luckily, our Salesforce account rep was fantastic and gave us the tools we needed to setup everything exactly right.

How many features and add-ons you can to accounts to really narrow down your search criteria if you have a large database (ours was about 50,000 customers). The ease of use and simple layout made date input smooth.

Cons

The only complaint I have is that if someone was editing client information at the same time as you, you would not be able to save any of the notes or checked boxes you had and would have to reinsert all the data.

My company is transitioning from an antiquated Access database to Salesforce. We are a nonprofit org that manages 22 housing sites with over 2000 tenants. What I like most about Salesforce is the ease of use and user buy-in. All of our data is stored in a meaningful way and users like it’s functional. The ease of pulling reports is vital to our organization and Salesforce really delivers.

Cons

We are using a 3rd party financial app and it’s taking time to build it within Salesforce to meet our needs . It’s not really Salesforce fault but hoping that Salesforce will come up with their own financial accounting tool.
