Homebase is a cloud-based time tracking and scheduling solution that helps human resources personnel organize and manage employee schedules, timesheets and payroll. It caters to businesses in industries such as food service, retail, healthcare, software and more.

Users can build employee schedules using a drag-and-drop interface. Schedules can be sent to employees via text message or email. The solution also enables users to get visibility into labor costs by tracking employee hours and overtime.

Homebase also offers automatic error reporting and various data export capabilities. Integrations include multiple point of sale solutions like Clover, Poynt, Talech, Square, Breadcrumb, Lightspeed and Revel Systems. Mobile applications for iOS and Android devices are also available for remote usage.

Services are offered on a monthly subscription basis. The package includes support via phone, email, chat and webinars.

Cons

As with any new program, Homebase can be tricky to learn in the beginning with regard to setting up employees and install initial implementation.

I love the schedule features. I am not generally the best with technology, but this is about as easy as it gets. I LOVE the drag-and-drop feature so I can switch schedules around easily without having to create new shifts, delete shifts etc. SO user-friendly. I love how you can send out a notification to only those employees whose schedule has changed when changes are made. I love that everyone is notified. And I love that I can check the app from home to see who is working the next day, or on any given day.

Cons

We are using the free version, so really this isn't a con if you are willing to pay for a monthly/annual subscription. The doctor I work for does not want to pay any monthly subscription fees. I wish we could use the time clock for employees to punch in and out, but it is not realistic for us as a two-location practice. You have to have a manager log in to the time clock computer, and we only have a manager in one location. This seems like it would work very well for those willing to pay for this feature, though, and it is really not that pricey. It's a minor con.

Cons

I wish more options were available with the free version (i.e. approving shift trades, etc.), however beggars can't be choosers!

Do not risk a trial if you expect a refund if you are not satisfied.

Pros

Chat sessions provide fast communication. When an issue arises, Homebase is motivated to resolve it.

Cons

The refund policy is unacceptable. After using the application for a year and deciding it was not a good fit for my business, I requested a refund for the second year I already had paid for. The refund request occurred only two weeks into the new year, and the application had not been used for months before that. The request was denied for no other reason than a cash grab.

There are a lot of options to choose from for an employee time clock and scheduling software. I tried another one on their 14 trial and I liked it a lot, but it would have been a month just to see how many hours our employees worked for payroll! After the 3rd day of my trial period with Homebase, I purchased their second tier for a fraction of the other software's cost.

Pros

Homebase is very affordable for our small business, which averages about 10 employees. Our scheduling manager loves it and so do our employees. Having it as an app on my phone makes it very quick and easy to see who is working or scheduled to work. There is an amazing amount of features on Homebase. The time sheets are very easy for payroll with my Quick Books desktop. We couldn't be more pleased.

Cons

Only two cons that I have noticed: 1) It integrates with many POS systems, but not with the one we use, which is RAIN. 2) It integrates with one type of QB, but not with the desktop version.

I love that hombase works directly with gusto. Being able to import employee hours to gusto with such effortless ease. Also email notifications with who is running overtime.

It does a good job aggregating data about the work you did that week, like total hours and how much money you made.

Cons

It has an issue with the times it shows you, so sometimes it says it's an hour ahead of what it really is. Not to worry, at least it still tracks to correct amount of hours.

love, love, love! This product is easy, helps coordinate things with employees, and reduces errors.

Pros

I am absolutely crazy for this product! Employees can schedule their own shifts, request time off in an organized fashion, and training is so easy. You can also hire straight off of home base!

Cons

I wish you could jump dates instead of having to scroll through the whole calendar, but it's not a big deal.

We needed a easy to use time clock solution that was easy for the owner to pull all of the employee hours, and easy for employees to clock in / out. Homebase proved to be easy for everyone!

Pros

Easy to use and Easy to implement, and very easy for employees to get a hang of.

Cons

Can be a little tricky to setup. But support did pick up where documentation was lacking.

Pros

Easy to use. Can request days off and ask if others will cover and everyone gets alerts. If someone decides to accept your day, you get the alert. Messaging system to everyone.

Pros

Convenient with a simple time clock. Features include automation with scheduling. It even has team messages, which is very handy for my business.

Cons

I never did figure out how to check in for shifts. This would not be so bad but it sends messages when someone doesn't check in.

Access across mobile app, web browser, and clover app allowed employees to access their schedules away from work which is nice for small businesses to be able to offer, and also track time cards, etc.

Cons

Certain features require a monthly payment upgrade, when started using it was not really necessary but as they updated features it became more vital to have some of these features

Tried several different alternatives for team schedules and time clock but Homebase excelled in terms of features and cost. Can quickly add or remove team members.

Cons

We have seasonal employees that get "terminated" in Homebase. When they're re-hired next season, it generates a new clock-in PIN. Somewhat annoying but a minimal issue

iOS app makes it easy to have a time clock on an iPad or view the schedule on iPhone. Works great for scheduling our small team of 10 employees and doing time tracking for payroll.

Cons

Employees have to select a shift when they clock in. They sometimes forget to select it and then I have to manually move the "unscheduled" hours to their shift. With a larger team, it would be very time consuming.

It would have been preferable to explore the product on my own before having to be harassed by the sales/support team. Had it not been for the emails and phone calls I received within minutes of downloading and registering for the program I would have liked to explore it further. Overall, it was a negative experience that was unrelated to the actual software and its use.

Pros

I liked the ease of use and a UI that was relatively user friendly, but for a few hiccups. The options to interface with other programs (like Clover) was also a welcome surprise.

Cons

I did not like the difficulty surrounding multiple employee accounts. Trying to set up a trial to understand the program and then the headache of trying to remove and/or differentiate between the practice account and the actual employee.

Additionally, the support/sales staff were hyper-aggressive. I wanted to try something new and then became flooded with emails and unsolicited phone calls from representatives. It was such a turn off that I requested my account be cancelled immediately and uninstalled the program within an hour of use.

They are alway available 24/7 for customer support. Which makes it very nice for businesses who are open at different times.

Pros

This product is a great value for small business. It gives you the ease of navigating through all the options, which makes training your staff so easy. You will also get all the analytics you will need to forecast you business and be more profitable.

Great service! We are also switching over to HB for our scheduling platform as well for all three of our locations.

Pros

I am currently switching from one clock in/out service to Homebase. We are saving money now and it's easier to use! Staff love it! I love it!

Cons

The only con I have run into thus far is customer service not always being available. This has been a MINIMAL issue so far. But, something to note.
